Suddenly, Ping Issues!

Recommended Posts

Alrighty, was browsing around the forums, found a few useful posts in this area, but nothing recent, and I tried all solutions contained therein.

Issue in a nutshell: I played Day Z for months, took a break waiting for 1.7.3 - it finally released, yay! So back into DayZ I go Load up Day Z commander, update everything, and start joining servers; everything is working great, lobby ping = between 25 and 65 depending on server, let's get this show on the road!

But Wait! BattleEye Kicked: Ping too high (900+). Wtf!? I live in Alberta, Canada - and I have tried every single server thats using latest versions and shows pings < 100 in DZC and I get the same result from all of them.

As I said, I then browsed around the hinternets looking for a solution, and have tried all of them

-Playing with router settings (firewalling, shit I even tried DMZ'ing it) : Check

-Pinging servers independently in the background outside DayZ : Check - also the independent server pinging nearly always lined up with DZC pings

-Join server located as close as possible geographically to your location : Check

-Restart Router: Check

-Restart Computer: Check

-Re-Install all ARMA2 software and DayZ: Check

-Try joining servers from inside game interface, six launcher, as well as DZC: Check

I custom built my comp and my MB came with Connection monitoring software that lets you prioritize processes as well as settings to maximize ping vs bandwidth; I used that software to give DayZ max priority as well as favor ping. I also, for the sake of covering all bases, disabled that software. No improvement.

I have a 50mb/s connection (6MB/s max dl, 2MB/s max ul). I play wow, eve online, CS:GO, CS:S, and several other online games regularly and have not encountered anything remotely like this at all, ever.

Please tell me this is an ARMA2 problem or something, because It cannot possibly be my connection.

Thanks for any help.

P.S. The people who respond to people in "Troubleshooting" in an unhelpful manner and derail threads are doing a great deal of harm, specifically to people who are trying to look up solutions to their problems. There was a thread where someone was having the same issue as me and mentioned that "they paid 20$ for DayZ". The immediate response from several people was the canned "derp, no, you paid 20$ for arma2". While true, it had no bearing on the issue - and while the individual posting the thread should have left that off to avoid derailing, it became the entire focus of the thread (although there were a few helpful responses which I tried and didn't alleviate my issues).

Hmm, you've got me very interested.

You've actually troubleshooted it yourself properly (which is very rare) and everything, short of reinstalling Windows has been done.

If you're using an AsRock motherboard I'd recommend against using the traffic-shaping utility that comes with the motherboard, it can negatively affect your connection randomly.

I hear ya. Am definatelly experiencing similar issues.

Love the game (even at 57) and always look forward to jumping on.

However, lately it seems after the last update my ping will go from low to high very quickly while in game

until i get a message (Ping to high 999) within 10 -30 sec if im lucky.

Is this a common problem we are now facing?

Im no I.T. guru so be gentle with any comments or advice.
