Campfire mechanic - 'Fire Gazing'

Proposal:

Spending time in proximity to a campfire with 1 or more other players creates a slow increase in blood and humanity levels. Meat cooked in this manner gives 1600 blood instead of 800.

Rationale:

Fire gazing is a psychological phenomenon common among adult male humans in primitive cultures. After a war party had returned to camp, the men would often spend hours sitting together staring at the fire in silence - the warmth and hypnotic effect of the flames allowing the conscious mind to 'spin down' and giving the subconscious time to process the traumatic events of the day, purging battle-stress and blood-guilt (aka Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). This shared experience also brought the tribesmen closer together, allowing them to support each other without speaking or physical contact, but simply by being there.

Due to the enormous mental strain of surviving in a zombie apocalypse, I see no reason why DayZ shouldn't reflect the profound mental health benefits of fire gazing with other players. This would also give a nudge to team play and co-operation without being moralising or overly prescriptive.

like the idea, but the added plus on meat should be less.

maybe if consumed near the fire it gives more, but not when packed up and consumed later

i would not add the 1600 but more like 1000 just a little incentive or make it time dependable.

longer the rest by the fire and eating the more it returns to you

Campfire stuff:

1. Matches / Lighter available in every second household / church (All those candles!)

2.Eating raw canned food = +50 blood / cooked canned food = +250 blood

3. Sitting (sit animation) near fireplace with another player gives +50 humanity every 5 minutes.

Basis for more use of campfires:

Culturally fire has always been important. It can provide safety from wild animals, give you warmth and the ability to cook food has brought a leap in human evolution.

Fire of course has always been a threat as well, it makes enemies aware of your position, it can burn you and lay waste to your home.

DayZ related:

I do get that in an emergency situation you'd eat raw beans and other food, but over a longer period of time this would not be favourable to your health and you'd want to eventually find a way to eat cooked food.

Generally making a fire to cook provisions you scavenged should be more common in an outdoor survival scenario and it should give you a small humanity boost if other players gather round to tell some tales about their adventures and possibly trade some items they found.

Of course making the decision to cook your food exposes you to a larger risk from being spotted by bandits (and of course the zeds).

All in all it would automatically get a player into a predicament on how he wants to consume his provisions in this dire world, which I find very fitting for the general theme of this mod.
