Dreygar (DayZ) 178 Posted November 14, 2012 Third person driving seems like it would be really awkward in this game, but I haven't tried it yet. I've spent a great deal of time in vehicles in first person and I find it quite enjoyable aside from ATVs constantly shaking your screen and being deathtraps in general, and not being able to look back in the Ural. Saying that's not immersive is shocking though. Looking out a window on a sunny cruise, lit up dashes at night, the wheel turning while you look to the side during a turn, these seem better to me than watching your car from above and behind. Much like in real life, not being able to tell exactly how wide your car is isn't that big a problem. I'm not sure if you do this in third person, but I double-tap alt to lock freelook when I enter vehicles and tap it to recenter. It's not that big a hassle.I play on US 3279 Las Vegas. No people and it updates beta faster than DayZ commander recognizes. I doubt I'll play today, but there's probably a hatchback at 035033 south of the road if you want to cruise around. It's not exactly mine but the camp seems abandoned. You'll need a jerry, there seems to be a bug where all fuel drains while vehicles are off.I joined some random expert server just to get a fresh take. This server must've been a private hive because I started on the shore with nothing, and the lack of seeing a weapon taking up some of my view really gave me that... motion sickness feeling. Headbob turned down, minus button toggled to pull back as far as possible, so it wasn't that.Immersiveness is unique to everyone. There are things about this game that immerse me, that might not immerse other people. Playing in a certain view doesn't affect my immersion. When I'm playing a first person shooter, it is fitting. When I'm playing in an MMO, where you could be doing anything your heart desires, locked in first person only. I just don't get the enjoyment factor. I think it also boils down to how everyone plays the game. A lot of my play is tedious, go out of the way type of things. There is very little interaction. I might go 6km just to go around something, and it simply is not fun/enjoyable/immersive/insert whatever positive word you want being strapped in first person only. jan_f_w 23 Posted November 20, 2012 This server here is a "kind-of" 20 slot open private hive expert server but unfortunately currently has peripheral dots activated due to problems with the server hosters config (at this time not possible to deactivate) - deactivation will be done asap:http://arma2.swec.se/server/data/322335If you are looking for a Namalsk server without 3rd person and crosshair you may want to check it out.Deactivation of net stats (viewable by key press "i") to avoid intrepretation of kill/death events is also in consideration.

Junos 57 Posted December 11, 2012 Man, there aren't enough of these servers. Back in the summer there were a bunch of expert servers, or at least servers without 3DP and CH, but now there are only a handful, and they're usually overseas or empty. Are 99% of DayZ players wimps now? :( Maybe we need to start some kind of co-op where we can contribute to running a hardcore server.
Heiduk 265 Posted December 11, 2012 As for your question, the answer is simple: people, as a rule, don't want to have to work in order to win. With few exceptions, they want to win without having to put forth any effort. This pretty much sums it up. It is also the reason why all of these server configuration setting should be design decisions made by rocket et al., not popularity contests.I think if crosshairs are to be used that it should be REALLY inaccurate from distances of 5+ feet, where as it stands now it is pretty accurate. What's the point? If you're coming at me with a hatchet and are within 5 ft I don't need crosshairs to fill your chest full of lead.
Pyro_Marine 147 Posted December 11, 2012 I don't care if CH is on or not, I do however use third person for the simple fact that it is much more enjoyable when running for miles and miles to be able to see my character and the gear he's acquired.Combat is all first person, though I try to avoid contact (Hero/survivor).And how is swapping on the fly difficult? Sure, if you're missing a pinky finger....
