BearGravy 53 Posted November 12, 2012 (edited) If possible, why don't we get the community, or developers (In the standalone game) To make a sort of small city map. One with giant corporate buildings, that have a lot of loot, gun stores, highways, freeways, subways, and some wilderness around it I would see this as a better opportunity to bring more people to the game because the map would be relatively small and some people don't want to put a lot of time in this game, or don't have time to because of school, work etc. Not only that, but it would sort of force player cooperation, because if it's going to be a smaller map, that means a horde around almost every corner, which would ,again force the players to come together, to run or mow down the mass horde of zombies. Also you can't just check the map to see if the zombies spawned in another area to warn you about another player because of all the tight space there will be.What does the community think? Is it a bad idea or a good idea? Why?Do you think it's possible to see this in the games future? Edited November 12, 2012 by FoxHound
liamcz@hotmail.com 98 Posted November 12, 2012 There are already Deathmatch servers which are sort of similar. Most of the action is directed towards one location. You spawn with a random kit and go around having a free-for-all.
rwake345 (DayZ) 6 Posted November 12, 2012 The maps that DayZ uses would have to be uhmm... ArmA2 maps, if I'm not mistaken. So this wouldn't really be possible till the standalone.
BearGravy 53 Posted November 12, 2012 I'm not trying to make a crazy bandit kill town, I want to make a map that sort of makes co-op a bit easier to find, and sort of bring players together. I mean who wouldn't want a subway buddy?

It isn't too difficult. So his idea is possible for the DayZ alpha.Your post is completely irrelevant.

The game is meant to be difficult, meant to frustrate you, etc. I agree the maps need more common buildings found in towns, and would like to see them in the map but I think the map should still be huge. What you are suggesting is what brings the downfall of games like this. Anything that makes it easy. I don't care if you don't start with a map, are completely lost. That is what makes this game great. You have to venture into the unknown, scavenge, find supplies to survive... Gather your basic needs and then make attempt to find your friend. That's if either of you survive the bandits and zombies along the way. I think this game needs NPC Bandits (Though they are just thugs, because I don't like the idea of them being farmed for gear), as well as larger hoardes of zombies. I mean he did say, for one, that he would add something like, having to relieve, with enough of that there that could cause a constant sickness that people need to find a way to fix. And probably not giant buildings with a bunch of loot, but at least a moderate amount. I honestly just want a more urban map. One with buildings all around me. Most not enterable, and it would be very hard to find doors to the open ones, and I would want to run into people a lot more.

I do agree I would like to see full-fledged modern cities and not these Cold-war era looking villages. Should have a genuinely better feel like you're in a real city and not just random buildings tossed in to make it look like a city. I think it will still feel like some 3rd world village but I think the buildings will have a better feel and purpose to them. Not just the same Church, Hospital, Apartment complex, Fire house, etc buildings we are used to. Edited November 12, 2012 by Dreygar
