ArmA 2 Beta Patch (since build 93398) has ability to remove some chat channels. Latest version of DayZ mission uses this feature, and removes global, side and command channel. However, this removal is effective only to those who are using a beta patch. Some servers do not require joiners to have a beta patch. If you use beta patch and join to one of these servers (and server has latest DayZ mission), you won't be able to access these channels while those who are not using beta can access them.

Solution: Join only servers that require beta patch (see required version in lower right corner of server browser). Alternatively, start the game without beta patch.

Note: ArmA 2 Beta Patch will be mandatory in next DayZ version (1.7.1), so it is better to get used to it now.
