I can only play on unofficial servers?

I've been playing this game for a month now and I realized that I can only play on unofficial servers. I installed Arma 2 and OA using steam and then used dayZ commander to download the other Arma 2 files and dayZ files. What is the problem? Why can't I play on other servers as well?
