Being a nice guy...

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

The other day i was driving around the north, going between Berezino and the NWAF in my UAZ looking for heli crash sites. I saw a guy in the side channel say 'Can anyone up north give me blood please?'. I started talking to the guy and eventually met up with him and gave him the blood, he said in direct 'Ahhh that's better', the next thing i know i have a DMR bullet in my head and he has my gear and a UAZ literally full of guns. I suppose this is my fault for trusting the guy but i was wondering if something this bad has happened to you guys?

I dont put myself in those situations.

Thing is with me and my clan, they way we act and operate you never know if we are alone or have 'undercover non clan tags' with me watching.

I dont engage in fights or situations that im not in control of.

Never ever go to someone on their turf, when you got close you should have hid the verchile, approached on foot and told him to come to you, if he refuses. Tell him to start hunting some animals.

NEVER EVER meet with someone on their terms, its always an ambush

If they refuse to move locations, dont trust them

But have beans for being a nice guy...........and dont give it up being good....because we will find you ;)

Being nice is probably the first fatal flaw in DayZ.

Right next to letting a zombie chew on your leg.

Nope, being nice requires far more patience and skill than being a bandit

If you see someone its not about calling "oooh friendly please dont shoot me"

Its:

"Drop your weapon (insert weapon name here, I.e enfield guy) or we will drop you, we are friendly but if you dont drop that gun your fucked"

Being nice is taking out a bandit stalking someone, or seeing the player stand in shock when you gun down the zeds surrouding them and no bullet comes for the player.

Ive saved plenty of players, mostly those heading in for gear and I reveal where a bandit is nearby, most thank me on side chat and i tell them to leave the city and if they look for me ill kill them (being a sniper when I can see them and they cant see me, this usually works)

See....we can all be friends :)

I did kind of hide my car at first in a forest nearby, and when he saw me at first he could've easily taken me out while i was running to him but he didn't, so i didn't think twice about coming near him. But again that's just me being careless :)

I play DayZ as a hero (8000 humanity) and I agree with it being more difficult than being a bandit. All a bandit has to do is find a guy, zero their gun and fire whereas heroes have to think about how they are going to approach the situation. IF they approach the situation

I don't approach the situation. I avoid people.

I don't shoot on sight unless they see me, because that's simply a stupid way to go about things. If they see me, I shoot on sight because not doing so is a great way of getting yourself killed. I've learned from experience.

If he had a bandit skin, NEVER give them anything. Zero your gun in them, you don,t lose humanity anyhow.

Thing is some players with bandit skins might have got them through defending themselves against non-bandit skin er...bandits. They might be trying to get rid of their own bandit skin for the reason that you point out (no one will trust them).

I don't usually go by skins to identify bandits/heros or whoever inbetween. Watch them to see if they are actively looking for other players, ontop of roofs or overwatching a city, AS50 or other PVP related weapons etc. Sure none of these garantee they are a bandit but its a good indicator.

The guy didn't shoot you at first because he wanted to use you for a blood transfusion.

Please keep doing what your doing and not fall into the trap of immaturity by saying "everyone else is KOS so i might as well too" (say it with a retarded voice, you'll get what i mean). :beans: for you good sir!

Should have tracked him and slam hogged blood in his ass Ninja Blood Bag style

Happens to me often and much.

It helps to stash your stuff in a vehicle or tent before going to meet anybody.

Thanks for being helpful. Never resort to butt-hurt banditry.

Today I spawned in Balota on a 60 player server, figured screw it I'll run to the airstrip then head to Cherno for shits and giggles. The server time was GMT+1 so it was almost pitch black by the time I got there and I ended up running into a guy with the bandit skin and a hatchet, I panicked and lit hit up with an AK-SU breaking his legs. He begged me not to kill him, so I told him to drop all his weapons and I'd give him some morphine for his legs (found some in the deer huts @ Balota).

As I was giving him the morphine, some random civie with a double barrel comes running around the corner and plugs me in the back KO'ing me, then he shoots the other guy killing him. I don't think he figured out I wasn't dead until he realised he couldn't loot me, I was seconds for waking up before he finished me off. I obviously didn't lose as much as the OP but man did I feel gutted.

A little long but i have a different view on being nice. (I am posting this in the stories section also)

For the first time in about a month I thought I would play Lingor Island.

I found a Blue Gaz car and found x2 wheels, it was moments later The MV Taxi service was up and running. Now I'm not sure if you know but one of my game play styles is taxi driver, my fare charge is Beans and pop (as and when required) In game side chat is a requisite.

First fare was a straight pick up and drop, El Villon airfield. I arrived during a firefight and made it clear I was offering a taxi / Ammo refill service and nothing else, this usually leaves me alone and out of any fights. I have had many times players call a truce in order to kit up, they can go back to fighting if they want after they walk 500m. I make it clear I have a large inventory and lots of free stuff providing I can trust you. there is nothing worse than a player trying to shoot you when you're driving, you're not doing yourself any favors by advertising your location in a threatening manner. I will pull up further down the road and put a bullet in your legs (Use any morphine and I will repeat until your out!)

After a drop off in Calamar, the guy offers to pay me with a D.M.R, as I have one in my boot i decline and wish him good luck. he leaves and no issues after that. As I am in Calamar I go on the chat asking if anyone needs a lift. 1 guy near the airfield confirms so I go to pick him up.

Now, you can tell a bad one from the rest when they start asking you questions, "where did you find the car?" "how long have you had it?" there was something strange about this guy, but he confirmed it all when he asked if i could pull over so he could get a drink "please don't move when you stop" this was all i needed to hear. Q and W were pressed very quickly when he got out and he started firing at my window. I knew he was after my Taxi, and he made the mistake of crossing me. I drove off to the end of the street in a zig zag fashion, turned round and drove at him. he was splatted all over the place. What pissed me off was he had all the good gear, why risk being a dick over a car when the server has 50 + vehicles? This idiot lost his players life and gear because of what? I was offering a service and he was out to kill. He wasn't even a bandit, in fact I have driven bandits around with less hassle. His name was mud after this, everyone on the server knew he could not be trusted. He died a lot of times after our confrontation.

My 3rd fare was all Tom Cruise Collateral style. This guy was having a beef with another player on the other end of the map, goading each other and threatening what they were going to do to each other, so they agreed to meet up and find out who has the longest breath. I pick up Mr Cruise (Not his real name) in Maruko and drive him down to El Villon, His Mark is shouting aloud how he kills all players with his sniper rifle, all the other players are pissed they are being killed by this camping sniper because they are unarmed.

I don't like to use vehicle chat as it offers me safety to some extent by letting everyone know what's happening (By this time the whole map was aware of an impending fire fight about to happen, so lots of players made their way to the airfield)

Mr Cruise informs me to let him out by the ATC Tower. I drop him off and then park up on the airfield Tarmac It's in view of everyone and neutral. What occurred next was the biggest and best fire fight / battle I have ever seen in my life. Zeds are all over the place giving you a clue there is more than 3 players nearby. Every different gunshot sound could be heard, the chat (Voice and text) is going too fast to get a bearing on what and who is doing what to who, people are dying left right and center. A.T.V's and other vehicle are driving around exploding through M107 shots. Players crawling all over the place, blood pissing out of their appendages. Players are begging for their lives over voice. The town above the airfield is a hue of all the smoke grenade colours you can have. My super computer is nearly lagging and stuttering.

I am sat in my Taxi, parked in the middle of the airfield, double alt pressed watching it all around me, jaw wide open in sheer awe.

30+ players on a server and 20+ of them were at the El Villon airfield, Out walks Mr Cruise cool as fuck. He had his mark (who was crying over chat) and now asked if I would take him to Drassen. In usual fashion I ask any other players if they need a lift as I knew there were some still around. They come out of their hiding places knowing that the area around my Taxi is neutral. I give them 5 mins to gather gear from dead bodies and we move. The car is full and they are re-telling their stories of the El Villon battle all the way to their destinations.

The only regret was that I don't have recording software. This was an epic moment I had not witnessed before in my 6 month of playing DayZ. I have felt Fear, have been scared, shook like an arctic winter but this game still offers me new experiences.

Please remember if you see me in game and need help (Medic, Taxi, Arms merchant) just remember I am friendly and will help anyone as long as I don't have to kill anyone, That is not my game.

Dont' help people while carrying things you don't want to lose.

Or, never make it benefitial/easy for them to shoot you. When I'm healing people, they either put their gun on the ground or I put them in the ground.
