How do I alter between first and third person modes and use general chat?

(btw I have looked in the controls menu and I could not find anything)

If the server you are playing on allows third-person (some don't) hit the "Enter" key on the number pad.

General chat is disabled on most servers at the moment and should be disabled on all servers once 1.7.1 hits. To switch to Direct chat (players near to you), press the "." key until it says "Direct" then press and hold the "Caps Lock" key to activate voice.

Text chat is "/". Switch to Side channel with "." or "," to talk to the whole server, Direct Channel for those nearby.
