Do private hive admins have to follow the rules?

Recommended Posts

The server US-LA Private Hive has admins that are spawning helicopters and weapons and half the admins do it to kill everyone they see and the other half are doing it to help people. They also had a base way off the map which my friend found by following their helicopter. Just wondering if this is allowed since it's a private hive.

Don't think anyone can do anything about it, it's private after all

There aren't rules unless you make them for private hives. If the admins are doing this their server will empty out pretty soon.

on our private hive this is unacceptable grants for losing your admin and being banned from the server. Things knowing where add content is i.e. (vehicles added) based on the map design you worked on is a different story but spawning in items to wipe out your server seems like suicide to your cause because no one will want to stick around after being demolished by an admin with god mode and a 249. At that point you have no one to provide input to on the server if they are doing it, admins are supposed to be there to assist you and prevent things like that from happening. Everyone is entitled to what they want to do on their server however this is not a good way to run one.

Once you go Private, you're pretty much cut off from anything public, and it's now up to the host to do things.

Private Hives are not ruled by the Public Hive, nor are they ruled by the Developers and Community Support and are free to do as they please.

But if I quote from the server hosting rules thread:

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/62195-server-hosting-rules-updated-3009/

"14. PVP is enabled at all times no matter the rpg element the admin tries to set.

15. Do NOT request un-necessary instance IDs, location IDs, or whitelisting from us. If you abuse the system all of your servers may be blacklisted.

16. Private Hives are allowed however we may not be able to help with problems relating to them, any issues you have with these servers should be reported to the server owner.

NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS OR WHAT SERVICE PROVIDER YOUR WITH THESE ARE THE RULES PLEASE ABIDE BY THEM."

So are private hives exempt from these rules or not?

I think they should. If they spawn stuff on their own server and kill ppl with it, it's their thing, and there wont be any players on it very soon. If they spawn stuff on a public hive server and kill ppl with it, it affects their characters on other servers, and not only on theirs -> not ok.

Those hosting rules only apply to public hive servers.

Since private hives took off, the admins there have been allowed to do what they like.

They're afforded that luxury since the private hive hosts basically bailed the DayZ community out of a bad script kiddy situation.

I've been considering getting on a respectable whitelisted server, just so I can definitely avoid these "boys with toys".

I've not been playing as much recently since a lot of the servers I frequented aren't all that reliable anymore. (and @hive is full of restriction #45s etc. <_<)

As everyone has said really, Private Hive server are not connected to the main dayz hive, so they can do anything they like and be run any way they like. The main reason for going with a private hive in my opinion is that you get less hackers, and more decent playes who want to play well without hackers ruining their games. With the main dayz public hive admins cannot ban hackers, they are can only submit logs and via an extremely long winded and inefficient way, while the hackers continues to screw the server and all the players on it.

On top of this you can get whitelisted private hives (like mine) which have even less hackers :)

@Chabowski, if your looking for a whitelisted private hive check out the one in my sig :) I'm sure you'll have seen our threads :)
