Which should I play?

Recommended Posts

Which of these maps should I play: Lingor Island, Namalsk, or Panthera? They all seem really great in there own respects, and I've played only Lingor before. Also, if you had to choose which would be your favorite? Thanks :D.

Panthera was a great map to me but now my servers off it i'm not as interested in it anymore.

Namalsk is also a damn solid map, great PvP, PvE and cities. I also love the alien weapon (Which i have >:]) and the warm clothing suits. (Should be added into normal DayZ i think...)

Hope this helps.

Ahah, will do mate.

It's a one shot kill to anywhere, it's an AS50 on steroids. It has no bullet drop and no travel time (Well minimal) so aim for the target if he/she is running not in-front of them! Also took down a chopper with one shot... Engine went boom!

I found it in the bunker by the way.

Best of luck mate!

(First off, I don't know too much of Panthera, because I've only played it a few times and don't know too much about it. If it helps, you can fly planes on the island.)

Panthera is an island map and is sort of similar to Lingor (minus the total middle-eastern outlook). It has deserts, high hill/grassy mountains, flyable planes, and major cities that are well-organized. There are some areas that are great for PvP like the high towering buildings, hills, and long desert plains. The overall map is professionally designed and fits well.

Namalsk is another island map, that consists of high elevated mountains and snowy regions that contribute to cold weather. Unlike Chernarus, body temperature is one of the major key factors of this map. You are surrounded by many areas with low temperatures that make you become "cold". If you do not have the Warm Clothes outfit, as it is extremely rare to find, then it'd be completely necessary that you always keep spare heatpacks on you when travelling up mountains, or having to traverse through the rain. If not, and you find that your temperature meter drops to a light blue color and starts flashing, you have the high possibility of catching sickness (Of when you start coughing, losing small amounts of blood by the second, infects, etc.). Just finding heatpacks are about 3/4 as rare as finding Antibiotics, so be sure to loot them on first find. Its also important that you collect any foods/drinks that you find on your travel to Vorkuta (Major city stockpiled with good equipment and food/drink; you definitely want to go here on your first playthrough). Food and drinks are hard to find on this map, purposely, to add in a more difficult experience of surviving. Like heatpacks, always pick these up on first notice, as they may become impossible to find until you get to a major town with a grocery store.

One thing you won't have a problem finding are the guns, and the munitions for them. Multiple military posts are placed well across the island and they all spawn medium to high grade weaponry. This contributes to the great PvP opportunities that make this map notorious (Perfect vantage points, roadblocks on bridges, constant banditry or false-honest men, ...you get the idea) [Edit: Just gonna put some bullets down for easy reading]

  • Namalsk is much smaller than Chernarus. Don't be discouraged by the looks of travelling long distances, as they aren't as far as they seem.
  • Never trust a single person in Namalsk. If you meet up with someone in a friendly occasion on the map, no matter how nice of a player they seem to be or how helpful, always have a thought to pull the trigger on them as they may just be drawing in your trust.
  • There are many easter eggs on this island. I don't wish to spoil these, so find them out for yourself!
  • Be cautious for Seraja Army Base, as this is a military compound on top of a hill and counts to be a hot spot for multiple hostile contact (because of the nice loot that spawns there).
  • Be very sure to collect all Water Bottles you come across, no matter the odds.
  • When climbing mountains, make sure you climb to the peak only if you have the ability to heat yourself back up while there, whether by a Heatpack, Campfire, or Warm Clothes.
  • If you wish to pursue the Bandit lifestyle, there as many easy spots to camp down to intrude other players.
  • Watch out for a military, underground bunker. Its a neat place to discover.
  • The locations for Helicopter Crash Sites are static.
  • There are 58 Deer Stands located within Namalsk.

All in all, I prefer Namalsk over any map besides the original Chernarus.

[Just want to say that I'll edit this post later today. (3:22 AM) <<Its early in the morning and just laying down some insight before detailing. Have a nice night.]

[if you want, I can add more info of Namalsk if you prefer me too. Any questions of the map, ask me in PM or quote this post and reply to it on this topic.]

Thanks auzzii, that gun sounds amazing I'm hoping to find it soon but Namalsk is a little scary, with the children yelling help and all. And disastrical thanks for breaking it down for me, I think I may try out Panthera when I get bored with Namalsk, which I don't see happening any time soon to be honest; I also currently prefer it to any other map besides Chernarus, it seems to me at least that it has a bit more immersion than Chernarus, and I like that.
