Connection Issues with Windows 8?

Recommended Posts

So I recently upgraded to Windows 8 Saturday, the 27th of October. I launch DayZ with DayZ Commander and have been getting some really weird connection issues since I upgraded. I normally play on DayZ Lingor and the game worked perfectly before I upgraded my OS. I can get to the player list screen inside DayZ Lingor, but as soon as I log in to the server and everything starts to load, I'll get the yellow chain link in the lower right for about 4 seconds, then the red chain with a message saying," no message recieved for x seconds" like when the server restarts and then the game will display "Connection Lost with Host." I have tried multiple DayZ servers in Lingor and vanilla DayZ and have received the same issue time and time again. I'm not quite sure as to why DayZ is acting so funny after my upgrade, Anyone have any ideas on what might be the problem and how to fix it?

NOTE: I am not here for opinions on Windows 8 nor do I care about them. Just looking for honest help.

Well...kind of worked... I was able to load the game without any problems. Then about 30 seconds into the game, the same thing happened again and now it is back to the same issue.

You know you shouldn't expect a brand new OS to work correctly at release but you went ahead anyway, so now you pay the price.

Stop being silly & go back to 7 if you want things to work, then wait for updates until 8 is stable & working correctly.

There is no Solution to this bug, As far as i can tell, It's just, completely, random. There is One single link between why this may be happening. Windows, Not just 8, All windows, i have 7, A couple guys with vista... I think arma II for windows is not as well made as the Mac is.

In short, Maybe if you return to 7 it'll work, but i don't know, it may persist.

Finally fixed my issue! I had read somewhere else on the Windows 8 forums that when upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8, the Anti Virus software could cause you not to connect to the internet, my guess is that the firewall was catching something within the internet connection. I just uninstalled and re-installedmy AVG 2013 and joined a DayZ server. No connection drop like I had been experiencing for the last couple of days. Haven't tested it with any of my other games that have been experiencing it but it sure seems to have done the trick! Hope this helps anyone having the same problem! :D
