What Did I Do Last Night? (Lost Hero Skin)

So last night I was playing on a public hive server, and after I discover the winchester now makes just about triple the noise it used to, I decide to die. While I was bleeding, I went to dinner and didn't come back for a few hours. When I came back I was on the "You Are Dead" screen and the player list was overlaying it. I respawned. First thing I noticed was my hands. My ugly, bare hands. This was on a no-third-person server, so all I could do was free-look and see myself without my beautiful sacrament to my good deeds. My hero skin was gone.

Now, here was when I got confused. I wasn't on the server when it got restarted. I have NEVER killed a player, lest even hit them with a single bullet or anything at all. I've never been a bandit and this server didn't change into a private hive. Yet now, my hero skin is gone. My humanity is set at 2500 (I don't know what it was before all this, but it was higher).

What did I do last night? And what, may I ask, to get myself stripped of my hero!?
