just have few questions about Dayz

1. can u turn pvp off even if its a custom server?

2. from what i here you die you have to restart your character/toon from scratch are there checkpoints or safe zones where you can restart from?

3.anytips on weapons/gear?

4.is it true silent weapons are better due to attraction?

Hey, and welcome to DayZ!

To your questions:

1. No, you can't tun off PvP. It's basical to DayZ

2.No. If you Die, you spawn somewhere at the south- or eastcoast. When you spawn, 3 lines will pop up in the right bottom corner: First your Map (Chernarus or so) second the City which is nearest and last the Day you life. But you can walk to the city /region you die and Loot your own body.

3. For beginners a Makarov PM, a revolver or a M1911 is the best. for a primary Weapon search at least a Hatchet. Later you can find a Lee enfield or a Winchester (the winchester is the better one)

Loock for some Ammo, if you have the weapon or not. Often weapons spawn without ammo.

Emptiy cans are very useless, leave them on the ground. It's better when you carry 2 Cans for Food and 2 for drink, 3 or 4 bandages and a heatpack with you.

4. Silenced Weapons are very rare. SD Ammo too. Think at that. But SD guns don't agressive so easy Zombies. It's your decision.

3: PDW is the best sidearm, there's very little the m9sd or g17 have over it. It spawns in military loot places along with the other 2 sidearms I mentioned. When you spawn, head into cherno/elektro and loot there. Find yourself a lee enfield or winchester. Lee is better, due to much more stopping power, more common ammo, and better range. Then check the military tents/firestations. You might find yourself an ak74 or something. If it has no ammo, put it into your pack if you have space. Primarys are 10, secondaries are 5. Ak74/akm ammo is extremely common, and it'll most likely spawn with the weapon. Tin cans can be used to break hospital windows and distract zombies, other than that they are pretty useless. I wouldn't recommend holding them, only grabbing one to break a window when you know you will soon. Try to get a hatchet, matches, and a hunting knife. With these, you can kill animals even if you have no ammo *because you can use the hatchet as a weapon*. Cook their meat, and eat it. Try to carry 2 canned food, 2 water bottles, 2-3 morphine, 2 painkillers. If you can get meat, drop the canned food and carry 4-8 meat.

4: Yes. SIlenced weapons are completely silent.

Also, some unsilenced weapons *such as the pdw* can be loaded with sd mags, which makes them silent to zombies but not players.

Good luck mate! Just remember, it's the PVP aspect that creates the tension. That doesn't mean everyone is hostile but it does mean you have to stay aware at all times.
