Play With Six, Disconnection Problem

Recommended Posts

Hey,

So, I downloaded Play With Six on my computer along with Arma 2 and Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead, so that i could play the DayZ mod and there is a problem... Arma 2 and Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead both work fine, but whenever I open the Play With Six Launcher, my whole internet shuts down all around my house. We have more than one router in our house and all of them shut down, just because of the launcher loading up all the servers and trying to connect me to one. I have seen this problem many times on the internet but never saw a solution to it. So here I am trying to make a thread that finally helps with this problem. it's not my internet because I have had this router for years now and it has never failed me like this. I really need an expert advise on this and hope that this can help me solve the problem.

Thanks,

LightningboltZ

Aye it does the same with me mate and others, try going into settings and lowering the maximum number of connections. It helps a bit, though I still get disconnects sometimes. For me if I just turn Play with Six off internet comes back on in 30 seconds or so. DayZ Commander does the same thing and the answer that both the creators of those programs will (quite snobbishly) give you is, and I quote, "Get a better router?".

EDIT: Forgot to say, I do still use both of these programs, so dont think it doesnt work at all. Just load it up find a server and go on it straight away. Oh and go into setttings and choose 'Close after launch'. So yeah you should still be able to use these programs to play dayz or ArmA 2, just perceiver with it.

Hi,

We've got a topic open on that over at http://getsatisfaction.withsix.com/withsix/topics/internet_breaks_down_after_starting

We believe the issue lies in either Router, Modem or security suite, either in configuration, firmware or hardware.

Tweaking the configuration or upgrading firmware could help. Possibly relevant sections could involve; connection/session limits, flood/DDOS protection.

As a workaround you can indeed try lowering the Max Connections within the Settings, but although it lowers concurrent connections, it might still run into limits.

Reducing or disabling server auto refresh frequency should help too.

Replacing network devices like Routers or Modems with newer/more advanced ones could help,

if firmware upgrades or setting tweaks don't help.

If we could get some details at above support topic, like which network devices are used, connection type, down- and upload speeds,

we might be able to come up with better solutions/workarounds.
