Log Out Conditions

Recommended Posts

I've been playing DayZ for about a month now, and while I've have had a great time playing and experienced more tension from a game than any other, I've found that the realism is often spoilt by people deciding to log out just as they are about to die.

While this is a great way to keep your stuff, it isn't really the point of the game to survive in such a way. So I thought a way to prevent this kind of behaviour would be to introduce a few conditions for logging out. These might in include that you may not log out when..

- Being actively pursued by a zombie

- For 60 seconds after being involved in combat (i.e. taking/receiving damage from a player/zombie, firing your weapon or being fired upon)

- In certain areas to prevent loot camping/server hopping.

I would love to hear some constructive feedback about this, I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets irritated by going in for a kill only to have the other player magically vanish into thin air.

Also, apologies if this idea has already been presented, I did search for it but couldn't find anything.

Happy gaming, and good luck out there!

already discussed, also one of the major problems is the logging in conditions, like spawning just in front of bandits, they just kill you in loading.

and dont say, "appologies if this thread has already been suggested" if you feel it has, it was already so dont even dare posting again the same idea someone has already done so.

People will find way to Bypass your idea... Like with alt-f4 or make the game crash or what ever...

I say that went you log out (crash/ alt-F4/ escape-abort) . Your body stay for 5 second then disappear... It will give time to the people/zombies to kill and went he will relog... SUPRISE you're dead... but if you log out for X reason normaly you shouldn't be shot or get kill.

Good idea Alex, I like it. Maybe the server will keep you logged in for a little while after the server doesn't get a response for a set amount of time? Servers would have to be more stable to prevent people dying because of unexpected crashes etc though. People might find ways of getting around it but at least it can be made harder to do.

And I didn't mean to repost, I did search and not find anything. I wasn't going to assume it had been talked about without finding anything to say it had been. But if this is entirely unoriginal I'm happy for admins to lock it. ;)

Maybe an another idea could be including a "useless" tent, which every survivor has in his backpack or wherever!

Its just for "build" tent to "save" the game! It would take a few seconds to build up. And if its built up u can leave the game like "going to bed".

This includes that the player has to open the gear, build up a "save tent" and then he/she leaves the game. This process is only possible if you are not in a fight or followed by zombies.

I like the suggestion... Its one of the biggest concerns i see in DayZ. Server hopping and combat logging.

These kind of posts needs a bit of spam :)

So beans for you my friend.
