Recommended Posts

Guys i've used this guys fix to get the steam overlay working which has worked a treat. Now i've gone back to the topic and Dwarden has closed it and left a comment that i don't really know what he's on about?

Anyone help me out on this because my retarded brain doesn't understand a bloody word of it! Cheers!

Which exe do you add though and where? dayZbeta, arma2oa or the best patch that is in expansion>beta>armaoa?

thx davo m8 ;)

p.s. what is Dwarden going on about though?

I've been curious about that too.

It sounds like it isn't good enough to just replace main exe with the beta version despite the launch options pointing to the beta folder files.

From his post I gather that you would also need to backup and replace the dll folder and the Expansion\dta folder with the ones in the beta folder. This would probably eliminate the need for the -beta= launch options as well.

However, I'm not positive, so I've sent him a private message to confirm if that is viable. He doesn't visit the Steam forum too often though, so might take a few days to get a reply.

Running the dayZ beta with Steam overlays is easy enough. You just have to add the OA Beta exe as a nonsteam game and change the shortcut details to make it load up the DayZ mod files and have the "startin" folder be the OA main folder, not the beta (as far as I recall)

For use with steam and beta patch use this.

Target: "(REPLACE WITH STEAM DIR)\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\ARMA2OA.exe" "-mod=(REPLACE WITH STEAM DIR)\steamapps\common\arma 2;EXPANSION;ca" "-mod=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion" -mod=@DayZ -nosplash

Start in: "(REPLACE WITH STEAM DIR)\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\""
