Launching Arma 2 with integrated graphics card

Recommended Posts

Hey there! I have a rather serious problem, neither Arma 2 or Arma 2 OA will start at all. I launch the game, after the initial loading (the one with the white bar, and the several squares being filled) the game goes fullscreen, then crashes immediately, giving the "Arma2OA.exe has stopped working". I've tried messing around with the settings, such as making my GT 525m card the main one in the computer (I have a GT525m, and an Intel® HD Graphics Family) I've been told that the fact that my Intel card is integrated in the motherboard, means that I can't play Arma 2. However, launching Arma 2 wih GT525 as my main card, it still won't launch. I've genuinely tried everything I could to make this work, and I am out of ideas. Does anyone have any ideas that could help me run the game? I really want to play it with my friends : )

I honestly don't know if you can run ArmA II with a 525m, although you should be able to albeit on minimum settings. How are you setting it as the main card?

Get a gaming PC? I'm running ArmA 2 on my laptop with an AMD Radeon HD 6370m, and it works, but the FPS goes down to 15-20 in Cherno, for example.

CYRI says I am more than able to run the game :/ I set the "main card" in the Nvidia Control Panel. Allows me to choose between the 525 or the integrated card. Really my PC works well, but has a problem with Arma. It's comparable to how the Macs with integrated HD 3000 intel card couldn't run Assassin's Creed 2, before they switched to their GT650M.

That would be a genuinely good solution, but my PC can already play demanding games like Battlefield, and as mentioned, CYRI says I am more than able to run Arma 2.

Are you using an Alienware by any chance? Also, If you aren't, Are your cards Capable of running at the same time? If they are, a simple fix, is to go into your Driver program *Nivida center* or whatever, and shut the other one off. <---i know u said u know how to choose, but you want to try to figure out how to DISABLE the otherone, instead of just putting it on the backburner

Also, an integrated videocard in the Mobo or anywhere for that matter, shouldn't prevent you from doing anything.

A crash doesnt also mean Video issue,

Try changing all compatability settings (Its stupid but it works alot of the time)

try uninstall/reinstall

Reinstall all of your drivers

make sure everythings up to date (to taste of course)ts

Note: I have had a HD3000 and Currently have an HD4000 (with my Gtx660M) and both were capable of AC2....I think that was more of a case of "mac" being the issue lol, Or a system/to/system basis for issues...

(my intel HD4000 integrated runs Arma2/DayZ fine),

No, unfortunately it isn't an Alienware, but would what you recommend on any other computer? I did not disable the integrated card, which could be the problem, but afaik I couldn't at all. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but that has done absolutely nothing.

Thank you for your help :)

I don't think Alienware sells those low-end models, I believe the weakest card they've put into a laptop was the 540m, although that was in the discontinued M11x which of course was tiny. Anyway, if what I'm interpreting is correct, you are selecting individual programs and making them only the high-performance Nvidia processor, not the Nvidia recommended?

they had the 525m in the M11x but hey...you never know right?

this guy could of had one :P

And prettymuch yeah... When i got my Pc (its an m17x) I had alot of the issues he's having with like...Everything

Mainly becaues 2 cards were active at the same time

Although, my fix is a bit easier (even after learning the manual way)

I can just press FN key + F7 and it disables one or the other entirely.

Im willing to bet this might not even be a Graphics card issue, my sisters shitty laptop can start up Arma2 fine and its got like a Intel 975 Integrated graphics in it....

It wont "run", u can start, it just sits at a black screen and 20 mins later it sloooooooooooooooooooowly starts to show some graphics

OP: Provide a crash report perhaps? that may help

Excuse the double post, i had Edit and quickreply open, accidentally clicked the wrong one.

It goes into fullscreen, albeit black, then crashes immediately afterwards. I've really no way of fixing this ingame, I don't consider myself an idiot on the matter of PC's, I can usually get any game to run (I have Arma 2 on another PC on lower than low, even), but this I have no idea. Just crashes before the game start, not even giving me a chance to adjust settings : (

Most of the time when my things crash, there should be an arrow or something or a dropbox, you can click. It should have info in there that looks something like this

I've just tried to start the game, and there is unfortunately no option for me to review crashlogs. It gives me the "Arma2OA.exe has stopped working" and only gives me the option to close it down. What do I do? D:

Thanks for your interest, by the way. Really appreciate it!

No problem, Im determined its not a graphics issue, mainly because of the extreme amount of games ive had friends run/and ran myself, on machines that could compare to a Rock laying in the dirt lol :P

Hmmmm Okay

Are you using SIX launcher

or DayZ Commander at all?

No, the issue lies with Arma 2 and OA only. I have in no way modified the files.

Try downloading Sixlauncher (im serious :/) And let it do its "check files" bullshit that it does.

Wow, I have no frigging clue how this is possible, but Six Launcher allowed me to enter the game! I'll test this a bit, to see if I can play DayZ! Thanks for the help! I'll report it it's fixed.

Sorry for responding so late, but I've been busy playing DayZ! : )

It definitely did the trick. I have no idea how, or why it worked, but I can finally play DayZ, and really, that's all I want!

Thanks for the help, everyone!
