stryker211 10 Posted June 15, 2012 Where’s the military/ government? Are they in total collapse or are they regrouping, preparing to take control of towns and try and restore order under martial law? Maybe this is all thought up already and waiting for the faction system on the shelf but I think it would be fun to explore this avenue. What do you think about having small events triggered randomly that add extra danger and atmosphere to the game that include things like military spawning in a gunship wasting anything it sees for quarantine purposes over Cherno/Electro? Or random towns get taken over by the military instead of zombies spawning, troops spawn. The towns spawning troops would be a cool high risk/reward end game objective to try and take on a large group of armed troops to steal high end supplies and weapons. It would give survivors something to talk about, warn others they come across “Don’t go to Zelengorsk! The military has setup shop there and are patrolling the area shooting anything on site.”Maybe those with High humanity could seek refuge in those towns. Or maybe have an independent faction that spawns once a town is cleared that can trade with players with high humanity. I know people won’t like that NPC armed players are in the game but I don’t see a better way to establish a more permanent zone with a limited amount of players. I know In arma if you kill too many friendly units that the AI will kill you on site, so that would be a interesting problem for people that want to kill everything that moves.Ok troll away. Sabata (DayZ) 1 Posted June 15, 2012 I certainly prefer if traditional RPG elements aren't part of dayZ. Why? 1. Technical reasons: additional NPCs require more power so less room for zombie AI's2. Story related: this is a post-civilization non-society3. Gameplay: players themselves should play all the meaningful roles, it's possible. If you want to know how... It's not like they are giving you quests or anything lol. 1. If zombie's are being replaced by Troops AI I don't see how that's going to bog the system down.2. Didn't know there was an official story for DayZ yet, link it. 3. I don't see how players couldn't maintain the meaningful positions or roles with a system added like I suggested. It would enhance it imo.
