Why is DayZ so different from other online First Person Shooter (FPS) games?

o Threat Management – Frequent attempts to avoid Zombie detection, conflict resolution with aggravated Zombies, high risk diplomatic negotiations, running for your life, and infrequent intense firefights.

o The Desire to Live – A player spends so much time an energy achieving an elevated status of capability that loosing it all and starting over at the beach with a bandage, pain relief medicine, flashlight, and small backpack is out of the question. There is a cycle of Hero-to-Zero and then back to hero.

o Scavenge for Loot – Search for a weapon and something to eat and drink. You will need ammunition for the weapon and a larger backpack to carry what you find. You will need medical supplies to keep yourself healthy. Hunt animals to acquire needed food and throw objects to distract zombies.

o Land Navigate – Get oriented and head off to your next location. You will use a map and compass when you are able to find them. Read the contour lines and identify landmarks.
