Hacked weapon?

I was looting balota with some friends when one of them got shot at from behind the control tower. I looked around and found a guy wearing a ghillie suit, hidden in the grass. I obviously shot him and proceeded to take everything he had including night vision, a coyote backpack, and an L85 AWS.

I used the sights and noticed they had thermal vision. I mentioned this to my friends and they said it was probably a hacked gun, then asked if it had an icon. It did. They said I should probably drop it, but I got killed almost immediately after that.

My question is did this come from a heli crash or can it only be hacked in? And if it's hacked will I get banned for picking it up for all of 2 minutes? If so then I guess this is a preemptive ban appeal. :blush:

The L85 RIS CWS is legit, but I don't believe the AWS variant is. You should be fine though. Apparently, logging off with hacked weapons is how most people get banned for picking up illegitimate weapons.. and I don't even think that happens very often.
