Can you play dayz alone - For long??

Recommended Posts

Actually located a server that for the moment is basically empty. Wonderful!!! Found a map - hospital - food - drink - new pack. No rifle - I never locate a rifle with ammo and I like the axe or hatchet (whatever).

Either way, this game finally is nice - But - can you play dayz alone. I will got hit by zombies. Not a lot at the moment - but enough to lose blood. I saw a video about laying down in a bush till zombies leave - actually works out of town. But currently I am going to pass out. I located hospital so I have blood but can not give it to myself apparently. When I lose someone is going to get alot - Map - Compass and so one. Hate to lose it though.

Any suggestions???? Any idea how I can continue - or do I just wait - pass out and start over.

The game without snipers and hacks is quite interesting. I just met one to many zombies and missed a couple hits. Had to happen but hate to start over. Maybe that is the game.

Any advice??

Thanks so much!!!!!

Playing solo has it's many advantages and dis-advantages but for your situation i would look for a "Medic" post and ask for help there. Maybe someone may be able to come along and help you out.

Beans add 200 blood. Cooked meat(Skinning animals with knife, using wood and matches to make a fire) returns 800 blood. It IS possible, but gets rather...redundant. Or you can be a mountain man that helps/hurts others. The choice is yours. DayZ is what YOU make of it to be honest.

I personally am an introvert, meaning i don't like being with other people. This personality also comes out when i play DayZ; so i find my own way to survive. First off, do NOT be seen; just hide. Secondly, get yourself a hatchet, hunting knife, and matches; this would allow you to kill animals, get their meat and cook it. This will restore 800 blood per piece. And lastly( i really hate to say this) but as a solo player, you should be a bandit(i really don't like saying this) you are at a disadvantage; anything helps.

however, in your current situation I would simply say: die and restart, keeping all of the information i just gave in mind. Or you can find another player to play with. If you ever need anyone send me a message on Skype: Jorilhelea.

You can play lone wolf just fine for awhile, assuming you can stay sane doing it. You don't have to be a bandit either, just stay hidden and pick your player interactions carefully. You can hunt for blood, otherwise just a call a medic. Speaking of which, if you still need help, send me a PM.

I've survived 100% solo for 2 months on a character. Stole a bus and had some of the best loot in the game. Sadly, it is also very boring, as the only good way to survive this long is to hide out in the woods hunting.

i hate playing alone on low populated servers in DayZ in it's current state. it defeats the purpose of player interaction and risk taking..... like, "there are bandits and KOS people in cherno near the hospitable, and i really need blood, should i risk it?"

it kills the suspense and fear that makes DayZ DayZ.

i have a mate who want's me to play with him on low populated servers, and it wasn't fun at all. we just had a car and just drove around, with no risk of getting sniped etc. i want to play with him on populated servers so we can do some awesome tactical stuff and communication, and share the suspense with him (no homo if any of you sicko's are thinking like that). there was one moment with my mate where we were overlooking cherno on a low pop server, and we are just chatting along, then we hear gunshots. we tense up, and get down, and then we toy with them on side chat when he (not me, i was trying to very hard to convince him not to do it) convinced them to go to a fuel station in cherno so he could snipe them (which he did). but that rarely happens on a low populated server, it happens all the time on a high populated server.

on a high populated server however, was another moment where me and 3 other random guys (i had just met) were trapped in a fire station from snipers. we just waited, but it turned out that someone was stalking us, then raided the firestation we were in and killed (most) of us. even though it pissed me off, i wan't more moments like that. player interaction makes DayZ.... DayZ.

Now that I have a map from google I can look at to locate water I don't see any down side to woods except matches. What is the trick with matches? Is there one specific place you always go back to for them. It is so strange - I locate scap metal, steel bolts, empty cans and bottle everywhere, but the things I need near woods I can never locate - food, matches, knife.

I will keep looking at map but anyone have any thoughts about matches, and basic outdoor supplies like knives or hatchet?

Thanks!!!!

Go in shopping malls they spawn pretty much everytime in there.

There are malls? I tend to keep to myself because everytime I offer to meet someone they shoot me (it's ok - I survive again!) One think I have noticed is that the z's can go through doors (which I think is silly - you should be able to hide SOMEWHERE) but you can find a roll of barbed wire fencing. I have found it and had it in my inventory but haven't had the chance to try it out. I think if you were to want to hide in a building and put the fencing in the front it would keep the eaters out.

Otherwise, I agree with what every said. Find a canteen and hide in the woods by a pond and hunt. I find this is too much like real life so I like to run crazy through the middle of town just for the heck of it!

See you in the streets!

JoanJett said..."I tend to keep to myself because everytime I offer to meet someone they shoot me (it's ok - I survive again!) One think I have noticed is that the z's can go through doors"

Regarding going thru doors. Strangest thing - happens on every server. Go in church and close the door, in store with back doors closed, barns, and so on - and they walk right thru. I little bit ago, they hit me thru a closed door. On the other had I can go in store with many zombies chasing, hide behind the display at the end of the main room and they just stop or walk by. You just never know.

Don't particularly like that, but it keeps me on my toes - that I do like - when I feel safe I get lasy do something wrong. And I always seem to attract zombies that are wearing glasses and have hearing aids. I will be a mile from a time and can just bearly see one zombie - and he runs quickly toward me. I know better than to run as it always chases me forever whan that happens. So I just stand there with axe ready and I usually stops right in front of me. I just hold the mouse button down and get it easily - not always but usually. Strangest things happen in each session.

At this stage I do enjoy the smaller towns and only zombies - I am so afraid of people. If I hear a gun or see someone, I just run. Last person I saw just appear from no where in a house I was in - and quickly took me out. I have changed server since then.

If you are near the south coast you could die and hope you respawn near your body to get your stuff back. Otherwise camp a shop and eat all the tinned food you find or go looking for animals.

Zombie aggro can be a bit wierd, I've crept past zombies before, within twenty metres, only to see a tiny speck approaching from far off- somehow its a zombie from the next town coming for me....

I played alone for at least 6 weeks when I first started out. I'm still a lon wolf at heart. i pretty much always have a group to play with now but I still enjoy going it alone. Just make sure your first priority is the holy trinity (matches, knife, axe) than go hunting and stock up on meat, carry as much as you can (at least 6 steaks), then you can easily recover from run-ins with zeds or people.

After that set yourself up with a tent and fill it with the basics, then you're good to go!

Also use that thread Derps posted, the medics will always help you out, I ended up joining them in the end and it's good fun if you want to mix up the game a bit.

I play alone most of the time on empty servers. I just wish there was an offline single player mode! I'll be honest I only play alone because I don't know how to set my headset up!

For your current dilemma find animals and gut and cook them then eat, your blood will replace quicker than with tins of food.

Like many have said, keep a bunch of cooked meat in your backpack.

if you play solo you must pay attention to your blood, carry a lot of cooked meat, hunt every animal you meet. then in my opinion and in my playstyle, if you have a decent rifle, like assault or sniper, you are good to go, just go to towns or military places to get ammo when you are low, visit the deerstands you can see on dazdb map, and watch your back for other players, don't fuck too much with them and shoot/expose only when you can handle the situation without too many risks

I can only second what others have said regarding cooked meat. Find a bigger backpack and try to keep as many pieces on you as possible.

Playing alone is great while you are learning the game mechanics, recognizing lootable buildings, figuring out how to evade zeds, etc. Once you have the basics down try a server with only 3 or 4 other players though. It will add back the suspense of player interactions, but it's also much easier to make friends and find folks to play with. Good luck!

ive been playing solo since early june..

still enjoying my time in game, not seeing were theres an issue..

sure you need to be on ur toes when u see other players (esp. groups) but i wouldnt say playing solo limits your ability to play/enjoy DayZ AT ALL...

EDIT: wait are you refering to playing solo on populated servers or playing on empty servers so you literaly are the ONLy player on ???

Right now I can't find my mic, and I'm too lazy to buy another one, so I've been playing solo. It's pretty good for training yourself in sneaking ability, as if you get caught you are dead. It's also a good way to "gear up" before going to other, more populated, servers. Mostly due to the reduction in chance that some random twat will headshot you for no particular reason. It also has some big disadvantages. Namely, no one to talk to. Considering the good chance that I may go insane if I don't talk to anyone for too long in game, I invented Fred the pacifist zombie, who I talk to in the close-by chat when I get bored of bean hunting. He is quiet, has contempt for his fellow zeds, and likes rugby. There is also the problem of reconstructing vehicles. Normally you could have one person carry the tire or petrol and the other people armed with shotguns and guard them on the way back to the car, but with solo you have to either not use vehicles, or just be very sneaky and hope you don't aggro any zeds.

If you're getting hit alot by zombies then no, you wont survive long on a server with players too.
