About to start playing and excited but have hackers ruined it already?

Recommended Posts

I've been wanting to get a gaming pc for awhile now but have always been a console gamer. DayZ is one of the games that finally pushed my over the edge to get a decent computer for finally. I've been super excited to check it out because there's nothing on console that can match the experience of this game. The more I check it out and watch videos though it seems like hackers pop up more and more. Is it polluted with them already? Getting shot and jacked is one thing, the ability for it to happen is part of that crazy looking experience but people hacking seems like it completely breaks the foundation and ruins it. I just don't wanna come in feeling like the most fun I could have for the $2k I just shelled out is gone before I got to it. What do you guys think?

Ehh, I, personally, haven't experienced to many hackers. Then again, I haven't played DayZ in a bit as well. So I'm not sure about the problems.

For the most part, you just need to get lucky. Sometimes you won't, and you will end up getting hacked

And if you aren't liking DayZ, if you really did shell out 2k for your rig, there are other games. Like that game Arma 2 =3

Just remember, don't get attached to your gear mate

People say to play on Private servers. Maybe get into a clan/community that has one. I too haven't played in a while but I will recommend Arma 2 - Domination. Arma 2 really is an amazing game by itself and there are plenty of mods that are really cool as well.

For instance, it's really fun to use the mission editor and spawn yourself in an A-10 and just fly around. Specially on MAX volume ;p

I would also pay more money if I could get that feeling back when I first started playing DayZ. I'll never forget I was crawling around in the dark and saw flares in the distance, Getting closer then hearing and seeing a van go roaring down the road, zombies chasing it. It was especially fun to throw flares AT the person when I finally got the drop on them, lighting them up for everyone else to see.

I know I'm going to love the hell out of the game anyways but I'm completely new to pc gaming and have been foaming at the mouth over this one. I saw it in game informer and was interested so I started checking it out more and more. Like I said I had been wanting to get a setup for a while and I knew this was gonna be the first game I got. I just have a feeling ill be a little overwhelmed learning the ins and outs of the pc by itself, let alone coming in on something like this. Just not used to the hacker thing coming from consoles. It's really rare to run into someone with a hacked Xbox

You are so new to DayZ that haxerz wont really "affect" you. Just get in and have fun. Arma controls have somewhat of a learning curve to know "all of them" but as lon and you can move and shoot and all that you will have fun.

Private Server. 'Nuff said.

The devs approve of them, anyway, since it take a load off of the main Hive.

Been playing a few weeks now on both high pop and low pop servers and have yet to see any form of hacker/hacking at all *touch wood* so it can't be that prevalent.

Go private hive. Some servers have their own anti hack system that are very effective. I played dayz for awhile i have'nt run into many hackers only hacked weapons etc.

I haven't experienced many hackers. I do highly recommend playing through the Arma II boot camp tutorials to learn the Arma II control scheme, though.

I say hacker first thing - only been playing 2 days now. With advice from people here I downloaded DayzCommander and located a server with only a couple people on it - and seems to watch and expell the hackers.

Hackers or not - don't trust most people - If they say friendly and have a gun or axe run if you can not defend your self. Don't turn your back on them as I have done.

It is a big world so a server with 4 or 5 people is small and at least till you get to large town and go to market or church or hospital - you can avoid people completely and learn and enjoy the game.

Have a great day!!!

Hmm, it would seem that my *touch wood* did little to prevent me jinxing my hackerless run... Got thoroughly raped by them last night. Our little 3 man team all lost our several week old characters, our camp and our brand spanking new car (our first ever vehicle).

Probably gonna call it a day till the Standalone now tbh.

I done a 24 hour session on Saturday for charity and in that 24 hours I was killed by a hacker only once and it was on a private hive, so go figure. Broken legs, can't move then drowned in the sea.

Best thing to do is get a tent set up somewhere ASAP and stockpile some basics so that when you get killed by a hacker it's not much of a setback.

I'd wait for the standalone if I was you, private hives are better but not hack proof. You either lock it and it's dull as he'll or have a white list which isn't 100% script kiddie proof.

I've had weeks when I've not been hacked and weekends when it's been terrible. This is on our own private hive server. :)

Just started playing Dayz a couple days ago and have been hacked on almost every server. Im finding the servers with recruit in there name to almost always have hackers (teleport to location and insta killed being the most common) but I have had better luck on the regular servers and veteran servers so far which im told are better to play on anyways due to no green dot tracking. I just conviced my GF, brother and cousin to start playing so were hunting for a decent server to play on. Considered renting my own server but that kind of takes out the random PVP aspect or random help a survivor scenario that I think makes the game more fun than just grabbing gear and killing zombies. Obvious private hives being more private gets tough for noobs who know nothing so theres that.

I buy arma for the dayz mod and 4 week later im still playing but dont foget the original game Arma II C.O. If you dont like dayz there is still arma II and C.O. with awesome mission (EW) but i recommend you to play with your friends. It make everything better like me i meet 2 guys (who shot me first and save my bacon after that *screw logic* ) I we now work at the same camp. You can look in the forum for people.

In fairness you get the occasional teleport hacker but the actual main hacking is the gear.

Just expect people to have high powered gear and think accordingly and DayZ's all good.
