    Littlebird vs the UH1H

    I like that. "Find an AS50 and..." AS50s are common to the guys who farm helo crashes as their main method of enjoying DayZ, but I only ever get them by killing a guy who has one, and since guys with AS50s are rarely wandering around Vybor in AK range, I don't kill more than one or two such guys a month. A player or clan with a helicopter can scoop rare loot and relocate their whole team very easily. They can grab those helo crashes and AS50s within minutes of them spawning, and they can maintain camps that are very difficult to reach without air vehicles. The helicopter is a huge advantage in PvP because you can scout quickly, insert infantry and harvest equipment in one. Because the guns are only marginally effective, they're going to be used to grief more than they're used for anything else. It's inconvenient to get out of the chopper to loot, it's unlikely that shooting a hostile player with that gun (due to its difficulty of use) will be more effective than just flying over a ridge and getting away, and there's pretty much no reason to use it on zombies except as target practice. Chopper gunner seats are for roleplay and ruining an underequipped player's day. In a smaller bird, where the guns are operated by the pilot, there's absolutely no DayZ use for the armament outside of very high-level asset destruction. You could use them to smash tents more quickly than landing and hatcheting them, you could use them to destroy a Ural on the move, you could use them to kill boats at sea... I'm out of ideas. For every valid application of air-to-ground (or air-to-air, for that matter) firepower, there will be a thousand instances of these warbirds being found in camps, hijacked by dingleberries, and used to patrol the coast blasting fresh spawns until someone brings it down with a .50. The transport and aerial view are plenty powerful in DayZ. Guns are not called for. If you want to shoot chopper guns, fire up the armory and enjoy some Arma2. If you want to grief newbies, take your AS50 to Dobryy. If you want to add content to DayZ, consider the big picture.

  4. This is the general spirit of the agreement between the 3 parties represented last night at the meeting. Its a consenus agreement based upon a 2 hour meeting. (There is still room for a 4th and possibly 5th faction). 1. This plan will be reviewed in 9 days. 2. Domes 2A. Domes for each faction (currently 3). 2B. 6 ground vehicles and 2 rotary wing aircraft max under each dome. 2C. Domes will be on the edge of the map. 2E. Bandit Faction West of Myshkina 2F. 116 West of Skalka. 2G. DDz to be determined tomorrow. 3. Server Time - will be rolled back for 4 hours for more daylight for North Americans. 4. Vehicles and Aircraft: Totals on specific vehicles (if they are not mentioned will remain the same). 12 Military Offroads 12 UAZ 12 Motorcycles 12 ATV 24 Bicycles 12 Standard Huey (No radar equipped vehicles). 4 PBX 3 Vodniks (No vokniks as they have a radar). 12 6 x 6 max. Vehicle count set to 200 (actual maximum spawn will be significantly less).
  5. Well, the best thing to do is to spawn everyone with Mountain Dew, cooked meat, an AS50, an M9SD, and a coyote backpack. Don't forget the NVG's and rangefinder. You gotta be sure to make it 24/7 daylight, and to have at least 400 vehicles and 50 heli's. Oh, and every airfield and town must have at least 2 barracks and a fire station. Sarcasm

    Player Camp Etiquette

    As the police said when Shergar was finally located.... Findus keepers. The only thing I do differently to those above is that I do not destroy what I do not take. That, to me, always seemed a little churlish and tantamount to vandalism. I don't think all camps are necessarily "hoards", I know I have several caches around the place that I use for a quick re-gear in the event of me getting killed. Sometimes several tents and vehicles just indicate a group stash rather than one person hoarding gear. That said, I still wouldn't do things that way as I prefer to spread stuff out so that, in the event of one of my caches being discovered, I haven't lost the lot.

  8. Theres a constant spawn of biplanes all over the map hurtling from the sky, there actual vehicles, how do I stop this? And why is this happening?

    The Shack - a different kind of Taviana server.

    We've become very interested in rMod2. When we originally considered rMod(which unlocks most(all?) vehicle classes), we found it interesting, but of limited utility due to air assets retaining radar. rMod2 brings in additional weapons - critically, it vastly increases the selection of handguns available. The limited selection of handguns has been a sticking point with me for some time, and it's nice to see a solution. rMod2 also removes radar in all air vehicles, and may remove radar on ground vehicles as well. Also, there are unarmed(in terms of rockets/bombs) classnames for the aircraft. This is all sounding really good to us, but we probably won't implement it if: 1) It is not supported by DayZCommander, 2) If the playerbase is firmly against it for some reason. Feedback on this or any other subject always welcome.

    Looking for a new home...

    Hello, I cannot promise you all of what you have on your list, as my server is newly created (this week). I am still trying to build up a group of players. I do have custom bases built into the map (planning more in the future, dont want to add everything at once), and lots of vehicles. As far as admin abuse, well that is why I created this server.... I had issues with that in the past on multiple servers, and figured this would be the best route. As far as active admins go, it is only myself at the moment, so I cannot promise a whole lot. At any rate, if you would like to poke around, just search for "dayz247".

    Player Camp Etiquette

    etiquette is taking everything you can, load it into their helicopter/car. run over the tents, blow up the vehicles you dont need and then fly/ drive off. Well, that what I do.
  13. If you have Vilayer, there is a "wipe all vehicles" button that will delete them all. Then they will respawn when you restart. I think DayZ.st has something similar, but their system is much easier to control.

  16. hey, there is no vehicle spawn on my server(official hive), i wait now 10 days that spawn vehicles. i have type an support ticket. after 10 days no answer. anyone can tell me what to do or something else?! :(

    NVG glasses in 1.7.5.1 [warning: spoiler]

    I see it like this. We all spawn on equal footing. It is then up to us to find items to gear up. Just because some are too lazy or choose not to run the map looking for gear doesn't mean we should all be restricted. My partner and I have found at least 5 pairs of NVG in the past 2 weeks. We just found some yesterday in a chopper sitting by the Polana factory. As most seem to like sitting in Elektro or Cherno, sure your not going to find them. We will spend nights just moving around looking for chopper crashes or sneaking into the barracks to find cool loot. Sometimes we find good stuff, sometimes we don't. That is the game. If I find something I don't need, I will give it away. I may put it in a broken down vehicle for someone to find easier. It all depends. I have also never been killed at a chopper crash. I have found them already looted and I have found them full of loot. I have found them with players there but I am not interested in killing folks to take what they got so I observe from afar, see which way they move and move another direction. I may wait for them to leave and pick up scraps. It all depends. I actually found NVGs at a crash site that was being looted. I noticed I had seen nobody looking under the heli so I waited until they were gone and took a look. Oh wow. NVG's. What happened to getting rewarded for hard work. I don't want the easy way out. This world is full of people who have advantages over others. When I see a guy in a Ferrari pull up next to me, I don't say "It's not fair that he gets that and I don't. He can get chicks easier because of his car and that's not fair." I just need to work harder I guess. My brother in law has an 08 STi with better mods that is faster than my 05. At the track he woops me up. I don't cry about him having better parts. I just need to put in the work to get better parts if I want to keep up. Such is life. If you are getting killed by NVG wearing snipers, be more careful. Regardless of the tools, someone will kill you. Why not just remove all loot but food, drink and vehicle parts. Remove all guns and have everyone spawn with a pistol. Would that be equal enough? I guess there would still be people with vehicles and some without. That would be an advantage. Remove those also I suppose. Better yet. Just spawn everyone fully geared in Elektro and remove all loot so there is no need to leave. We can all kill each other. Oh wait, we already have that in COD. I guess we could just sit around singing Kumbaya then. Now that would be a game worth playing.

    Admins can spawn weapons and vehicles?

    You'd be surprised how many scripters you can catch by watching people. If you're killed by a bug/scripter, private hive admins can restore your gear/vehicles. Whether admins choose to abuse this system or not is up to them. I suggest playing on servers where admins don't tipe liek dis or LIEK DIS LAWL.

Hosted by Nuds 173.76.120.107:2302 Hey folks, we released the server last night and it looks like we got up to 8 connections reliably which was nice but we're still testing throughout the day. After this server is configured we'll be switching over to an old HP Proliant dual Xeon2.0 with 16g 5300f. Before anyone asked, I posted this here because this community is generally more savvy. Also, anyone know if 50/down 30up should be enough to host? That's what we're at right now but we're thinking of upgrading if needed. Thanks in Advance!
  23. I am not against zombies getting harder. But it doesn't matter how tough you make zombies, to me zombies are just part of the scenery to the way I play the game. And that's PvP. Zombies are so easy to avoid that I run through towns and look for what I want as fast as I can. Sooner I am out of town the safer I am. But, it doesn't matter how "tough" you make zombies. With the AI of the zombies as they are now you can only get to a certain point before it breaks the playability of this mod. With warping through walls, phantom hits on you, you risk adding a negative impact to the game that doesn't necessarily make it more challenging. Just frustrating because of the AI. And my post you quoted was in no way related to zombies. It was more a long the lines of realistic/unrealistic things we are able to do in this game. IE repairing choppers/vehicles.
  24. Currently there are way too many zombies. I was with one guy on a low pop server, and there were 30 zombies immediately around us (yes I counted)... not counting others beyond that. Was the zombie count upped? Zombie run speed is absurd still. Watch them run 3 to 4 times faster than a person can. They are decaying, rotting bodies... yet they run as fast as the bionic man. Used to be intense having the option to run into a building, have maybe 15-20 seconds to loot and then need to run out fast or be blocked in. Now... theres no chance. Its guaranteed. And not just one or two... but 5 or 10 blocking the door. Its stupid. Theres just a glut of aburdity that takes away from the immersion of the game. This doesnt even count the instant hit (usually 2 or 3 hits tbh) no animation of zombies also... Has the quality of loot in the barracks been reduced? Seems like it. Vehicles are freakishly fragile. I mwan... you cant drive anywhere with out going from green to red over rediculous things. I've been in real car wrecks, even ones where cars we over 30mph, spun round, etc. And could still drive away. Not so in dayz... Dunno, just seems more and more tedious, and less fun. I hope SA is better than this current development dirction.

    I will never understand why boys are so destructive. *tuts* Look at all that damage. And you could have played nicely will those vehicles, if only you'd shared! I hope you tided up when you'd finished. *tuts again* I enjoyed the music, though! :thumbsup:
