Has anyone heard what Rocket may be doing for casual players for DayZ Game?

I completely agree with you. I was being more specific towards that end game moment. I'm worried that if a group of 50 unique users are working together on a server, they will be able to have a higher advantage in game-play than me. And rightfully so. I'm just worried that building a base underground will take too much time for a group of five guys, and that these end game structures may be catered more to the large groups within DayZ. It's just I'm use to actually playing on a server with twenty people in my group and making the server ours or battling it out with other groups. Those have been my best moments. When I know for a fact John Doe goes to Zelenogorsk at 5:00 P.M. every Thursday to snipe people out in this specific sniping spot, and being able to trap him in it. That familiarity is something I'm most likely going to miss out on with more school work. Chances are very high that Summer of 2014 will be my true DayZ summer, not this current one. I'm just too busy. It's mostly the worries of aging. I simply can't put the time I use to into video games, and I know how it is on DayZ when you are working 4 hours a day. You have everything in that package, enemies, friends, tents, vehicles, and some of the best experiences in video games I've ever had. -

I prefer modded servers (obviously) because it changes the game a bit. I like to add in things that make the game easier (more vehicles, military bases) and then counter that with things to make it harder (roaming npc, tons of npc in the military bases) to balance it out. Gives a bit more flavor and variety in things. I will admit, I started off with more vehicles than I should have (200) but have been scaling back to adjust towards the population (currently just over 100). Most players that I have talked to (that show up on my server) want to start with some sort of weapon, hence I start them with a 1911. I don't see that as too far fetched in the storyline. *side* I've actually made the as50 incredibly difficult to find (0.0001% chance of spawn)... as I feel it is too much, still debating the m107. I need some bandits to play on my server rofl (I do have a very small area that is non-pvp for new players to learn the ropes if they feel it... encompassed kamenka and pavlovo). Day only: Well, dam near every player I have ever talked to will not play on a server that is night.... so I adjust to the player..... server restarts right as it gets completely dark (still get a good hour of dusk like conditions). I like to react to and give my players what they want (within reason)..... sure I do not have a large community playing my server (I do not claim to, server hasn't been up all that long).... but most that show up and talk enjoy what I have added. I think most server owners are simply trying to add in what they think players want.

Hello guys, Why are people so hostile towards vanilla servers? I look through the server list and I see bullshit like 1 million vehicles, 1000 choppers, start with AS50, no bandits, day only. Some of this is of course exaggerated, but I literally only found 1 single vanilla server with players on and that server did not have the settings I wanted(nameplates.. etc). What is your opinion?

I just looked through the respawn script. It is: @dayzcc/htdocs/dayz/modules/lib/class.vehicles.php And yes, it would be entirely possible to add in an unused item check. This would simply be a process of pulling down a list of vehicles, checking against the current date and deleting (see below) the vehicle. I actually wouldn't even delete it... I would set it's damage to 1. I would perform this in the @dayzcc/htdocs/dayz/modules/actions.php right before the line "require_once(modules/lib/class.vehicles.php)" line. Then the program could continue working as normal, and would replace the vehicles you just set the damage to 1.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the answer. Where did you get that from anyway? I'm glad that it only respawns destroyed vehicles, as that's what I was actually shooting for. Perhaps there's a database query I can run to respawn vehicles not used in X number of days?

It should respawn only completely destroyed vehicles. Let me look. edit: SPAWN VEHICLES: Respawns ONLY completely destroyed vehicles (up to vehicle limit set in vehicle table). RESPAWN ALL VEHICLES: Respawns all vehicles to their spawn points with full fuel and no damage. I do not see anything checking for vehicles not used in a certain period of time, so I am going to say that it (spawn vehicles) does not respawn vehicles that have not been used for awhile.

I was thinking, "What if there were a thread for both Server owners to be able to list their hive in a format that's user friendly, and for players to be able to find a server with the things they are looking for (Custom start gear, increased vehicles, pure vanilla, etc)?" The stickied thread hasn't been updated since December, so I have no reason to assume it's still being attended. Would you guys (Both server/community owners and wandering players alike) be interested in something like this? Or maybe you'd be interested in doing this yourself? If people want this done, but nobody is willing to do it, I'm up for giving it a try. I'm thinking along the lines of being able to just click on the thread, scroll down to, say, "Takistan", look for "Custom Vehicles", go to "UK Servers", and find any UK based Takistan servers that have Custom Vehicles. I'd have to spend some time fiddling to find a format that I find convenient to update, but I feel as though I haven't been contributing to the DayZ community as much as other people, and I'd like to take a crack at changing that. So, yeigh or neigh? I'd appreciate logical reasons For or Against, or just some ideas on how it could be implemented and kept reliably up-to-date.

I asked this on the DayZCC forum but no one's answered it there, so I figured I'd try here. In the Overview page, there's the option to "Spawn vehicles". I know this respawns any destroyed vehicles and I think it also respawns vehicles that haven't been touched in X number of days. Does anyone know how many days a vehicle has to be untouched to be respawned or if that's even the way it works? My host tells me it respawns all destroyed and broken vehicles, but I know that's not the case, as there are plenty of broken vehicles on my server, and they weren't respawned when I used that.

You could look into gettin an Origins server. You can build your own bases and vehicles. (Actually have to find wood, concrete, etc)

A Warning to Prospective Hosts Concerning HFB Servers

I rented from hfb last year, did the basic package. Every time a hacker came into the server and put all the vehicles in the ocean they would reset the server in a matter of minutes. I decided to rent from them again. The only package they have now is the ultimate which is really cheap compared to before. Well first off it's been 6 days and they didn't install my HFB hive/mapper tool, and 2 days ago my server broke to the point pressing the start button will only load the page for 2 minutes and do nothing. I sent a ticket in immediately and haven't gotten a response in 2 days. and i also sent a ticket about the mapper tool 4 days again and haven't heard a single word from them. I am about ready to cancel my service and demand a refund for false advertising of "24/7 customer service and tech support". It's frustrating having a server for your clan, they leave for the weekend to do some shit, hoping i will have it ready when they come back sunday, only to hear that HFB hasn't responded to any of my tickets. -
The enviornment can be pretty unforgiving lots of additional elements to attack you, insane variety on loot tables. Different vehicles the list goes on I play mostly to tase zombies and run around at night time as it is very immersing.

(EG Oceania, USA, EU) Special Features: On HP DayZ, we include many special features. These include: Custom Gear on Spawn - This normally contains a makarov pistol, maybe something special every now and again. Build Bases Script - This script is a helpful script, for the clan or just someone who needs a place to stay. You can create bases with a click of a button with this amazing script. Remove Parts from Vehicles Script - Introduces a new feature where you can extract parts from that pesky vehicle with a wheel you need. This script makes the game more realistic, and challenging. 1. Yeah, if you log out alive, you will log back in at the same spot with the same gear. If you die, well you've witnessed what happens. Just see it as hardcore mode on a RPG game. You can find tents and vehicles to store stuff in, however these are on the server 24/7, so they can be looted by anyone who happens to find them, so make sure to hide them well. 2. Are you using any sort of third party chat system such as teamspeak or skype? I know some of these programs or windows itself will turn down game volume when they're open unless you change the options. That's all I can think of beyond a full re-install if you get sound out of Arma II. 3. What channel are you typing in? (i.e. what color is the text?) You need to be in side channel for the whole server to see it (teal text), direct is local area ~80 (white text), vehicle is for anyone in your current vehicle (yellow text) and I believe group is just for lobbies as far as DayZ goes (tan text). Make sure you're in the right channel, and never use your mic over side chat, you will get yelled at and probably kicked/banned from the server. 4. Just wait until you get into real servers where you start with nothing and you'll have guns pointed at you.

the loot script dosen't recognize vehicles as players so the loot spawn script won't execute i recommend get a friend and try to parachutte them in then if they miss pick them up and try again -

For the most part, DayZ is run into town, run back. If your friends play in your house/dorm/whatever and you can connect to each-other easily, run the server yourself so you can maintain vehicles and whatnot between you/allies. If you all choose the same time(s) to play, you can have interesting 2 friends v 2 friends v so on and so forth matches of hunting each other down. -
When you log out, you keep your gear. tents/vehicles you own will likely also stay around,unless someone finds and loots or destroys them. You only start a new character when you die.

Here is a step by step from DOC Object_data is used for adding vehicles, tents, traps etc into the game world and saving their location. However, it doesn't matter what the class name of the object being added is - they are all the same whether they are Bicycles or Military Hangars. STEP ONE: Location of your object You first need to get a location of where you want to put your object, roughly. Do this by standing in the spot you want and opening your character_data table in Navicat or similar and grabbing the worldposition of your character. If your table was already open, you can just refresh the table to get your latest coordinates. It will look something like this: [ppp,[xxxx,yyyy,zzz]] The numbers are represented as follows: p = compass direction you are facing x = position on X axis from WESTERN side of map y = position on Y axis from SOUTHERN side of map z = height The positions are in meters, so you can use that to fine-tune your building location later on. STEP TWO: Add a new column to object_data This is an optional, but highly recommended step. It basically adds a bypass filter so your objects are not counted as vehicles by fGetVehCount. Add the column "Landmark" to `object_data` as a TINYINT(1) data type. DEFAULT 0 Now edit fGetVehCount and replace it with this: STEP THREE: Finding the classname of your desired object Simple, just find it here (click me!) Some objects and vehicles are banned, obviously. DayZ buildings spawn zeds, so becareful if using one when building a base. STEP FOUR: Adding object into object_data Now you need to add a new entry to object_data for your building. For each data column: ObjectID = carry on from your last highest ObjectID if it did not autoincrement itself ObjectUID = A unique numerical ID for your building. I just give mine a prefix, eg 123 and then start counting after. ie 123001,123002 etc. Instance = Same as your server instance, this is probably 1. Classname = Class name of building you found in step three Damage = 0 CharacterID = 0 Worldspace = The position you gathered earlier Inventory = [] Hitpoints = [] Fuel = 0 Datestamp = the current datestamp (in navicat, double click on box and press green arrow) It is VERY important that the irrelevant boxes (ie fuel etc) have the values specified, otherwise it will cause your server to crash. If you added an object which has carrying capacity, IE an ammo box, you can set it's inventory the same way as you do a vehicle etc. For example: [[[],[]],[["ItemJerrycan"],[10]],[[],[]]] FYI: [[[guns-and-tools],[quantity]],[[items-and-ammo],[quantity]],[[backpacks],[quantity]]] STEP FIVE: Saving and restarting the server Now you have added your data to the table, save the table and restart your server. Remember to move your character out of the way first so you are not crushed! (I learnt the hard way...). Restart your server (using #restart is sufficient) -

Let's face it; crime is a pretty bad problem, regardless of where you go. Especially in fledling nations with stockpiles of post-war leftovers in the hands of every-day citizens. It's a sad truth, but true all the same. And what is done with prisoners that have not committed capital (death-penalty) crimes? Imprisonment. For a long time in ArmA 2, before DayZ was the "Big Thing," I wanted to make a final-stand-type mission, where it's you and your squad versus 4+ waves of tanks, aircraft, and infantry. The primary issue was choosing a location to have this last-stand in. First I tried Devil's Castle, and found placing units correctly and not having them plummet to their deaths was impossible. Then I tried the roofs of industrial buildings in Chernogorsk, and had about the same problem. What I really wanted the whole time was a multi-floor, several-window, roof-accessible building that couldn't be covered in under at least 20 minutes of checking rooms. And what fit that bill? The Chernarus Penitionary, which (sadly) doesn't actually exist. My suggestion is simple: Construct a prison building (when you guys are done with your beautiful ship wreck) and build it somewhere near the middle of left of the map, along with a police station, along a road leading into one of the minor nondescript towns. The prison should be dillapidated, with busted windows and bent metal bars. Blood along the walls, as prisoners either revolted against their captors or fought starvation, trapped in their cells with zombies wailing outside. The primary loot locations should be the kitchen (attatched to a mess hall) for food and the warden's office/armory, where police issue weapons (Remington 700, Glock, Remingtion 870, etc) can occasionally be found. There should be a spawn chance for a squad car(s), but they can only be taken/driven if industrial parts are shipped all the way from the major cities, so people aren't taking such short walks to fix up and drive around vehicles. The building (with the new loot-in-every-corner spawning system) should take no shorter than half an hour to completely search. Maybe a 400x400x10 (400 yards x 400 yards wide/long, 40 feet ((4 floors)) tall), with some sections of the building inaccessible and stair cases that bring you between floors. There should be a good lack of ladders, except around the armory/areas the officers of the law have to get through quickly, making it theoritically defensible against zombies but not as simple as climbing a ladder. Spawn items should include: Fortification Supplies -Barbed Wire -Fencing -Sand Bags -Tools to Build Aformentioned Police (military?) Equipment -Police Issue Firearms and Ammunition -Squad Car -Prisoner and Policeman Zombies -Flashlights -Batteries Items for the Maintainence of Officers and Prisoners -Food -Small Medical Supply Cache -Shanks (survival knives) in Prison Cells -Uniforms/Unsoiled Clothes (dress like an officer or prisoner) -Papers/Penciles/Pens/Highlighters (whatever will be included in the new note writing system) Am I forgetting anything?
