@funkyfrogjuice It doesnt say anything about vehicles :)

What about ArmA 3 vehicles? Also are they still drive-able in this state?
-
As In Topic Title, when do you guys reckon that Cars and other vehicles will be added to the game :) ?

sceneComplexity=100000; Anything under 500000 will have trouble rendering windows and doorways to see players unless up close. shadowZDistance=90; Might as well disable shadows completely if fighting for FPS. viewDistance=1600; I set mine to 1000 or 1200 since there are no vehicles you have no need to see a player past 1km. preferredObjectViewDistance=1600; Same as above. 1km is more than far enough to see at the moment and will give you the most FPS gain.

DayZBP Epoch: The balance between PvE and PvP
xsnipuhx posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Welcome to DayZBP. Come hang out with us if you're not playing the SA! We now have a forums, you can check it out at http://dayzborderpatrol.freeforums.net/ In the past, we had a really fun 30+ man server and after an extended downtime we decided to start a new Epoch server. This time around we wanted to do everything in moderation. Our new server is now also dedicated, no server host used. - Cities additions and other additions to the map make sense and go with the theme of a "civilization making a come back" dayz. We have not made pitiful attempts at placing high loot buildings all in one area. - We have made full usage of the new Map_EU buildings and will be adding new loot spots. - The view distance on the server has been increased to 6000. Fog has been tweaked and not only adds to gameplay but looks great, especially at night. - PvP events in a constructed arena also take place, with the winner receiving a vehicle, gear, weapons, or a few bricks of gold. - Missions have been added to provide a varied PvE experience with a reward. The missions have a wide variety of loot, enemies, and vehicles. They spawn out in the wilderness or within cities. - The same missions mentioned above can also contain building supplies. - Server bandit ai have been added to provide PvE in additions to an unknown. We have found that players are too used to Dayz and are comfortable taking chances. We want players to think before doing. - The option of being a bandit or a hero is always possible. The ai are not all enemies, some are surviors and if you are a hero they may even give you a bloodbag. - The hero trader has cheaper prices than all the other traders, however the bandit trader has all the explosive gear and a few extra weapons. The trade-off is a more expensive bandit trader. - After restart, the server launches at various times of day. During the last hour of night and 2 hours of dawn ground fog has been added. - Server traders, vehicles spawns, and loot tables have been customized to include as many as possible vehicles, gear, and weapons. Everything has been done in moderation. If someone chooses to take a heavy military approach to the server they can, however if someone wants to take a survival approach they can as well. - Admins are generally reachable in-game or in our teamspeak. - Other notable features include: Improved base building(no maintaining), Trader City god mod, C-130 crash sites, Auto-Refuel, Self blood-bagging at hospitals and ambulances, deployable bike with a toolbox, and name tags when close to another player. Right now we have a small population server and anyone willing to invest time in our server will be receiving a small "welcome kit" which is basically enough supplies to start building a small base. We do not accept donations to get gear, that is garbage and if you do that, you're garbage. Instead just play here and have fun with us, that's payment enough. We Currently have only 2 admins: Derek and Mintypie. Any reports of cheating or abuse will be taken seriously. Come join us at 64.94.238.119:2302Teamspeak 64.94.238.119 As an FYI: I am Derek if you join the server. -
I'm all for this idea. The development roadmap on DayZ's Steam store page used to state that "Playable user customizable vehicles" were a planned feature. Unfortunately this has changed recently to "Playable vehicles". Perhaps the code required to implement complex customisation for vehicles carries too much of a performance overhead. We can but hope. :)

No doubt there would be American equipment left behind by the NATO humanitarian forces, but they would tend to be rare. Considering the presumption that the Infection went global, it would be likely that NATO forces would have withdrawn to fight the infection in their native countries, or simply moved to the West front to the more essential European states. US military protocol tends to abandon military equipment when they withdraw from a country because it is cheaper and, well, they have money to make more. Depending on the state, they either leave it for the native security forces or destroy it to avoid acquisition by the enemy. That's during 'normal' wartime... However this is a possible pandemic, and international interests are key. For the U.S., Chernarus is too close to Russia, so they would mostly adopt the 'scorched earth' policy. That means destroy or remove everything. Although Russia is far from needing it, the US couldn't let its technology fall into enemy hands. As for personnel, most would be withdrawn bar perhaps a few to safeguard research into the infection's origins. Thus, Humvees and the likes would be found, but rare. It would be likely that, depending on international political relations, the Russian Federation would have moved in to take NATO's place in Chernarus, if they could afford the manpower. This would probably consist of CBRN units and maybe riot police such as the OMON, who would be better suited than regular armed forces as they are equipped with shields, full body armor suits, and have apt experience with both melee and firearms. This would give reason for modern Russian vehicles such as the Gaz Tigr. As for the ATBIP idea, I like it, but I'm note sure if the dev's are focused on changing the map in any major way, but perhaps...

Honest feelings about the Mod & if StandAlone is for me
pacific_coast replied to Marmoo's topic in General Discussion
the mod is the most "complete" dayz experience right now. utes, taviana, namalsk, falluhja, 2017, origins... i could go on forever, baby! i always played vanilla servers in the mod. too much nonsense and easy loots/vehicles. landing your heli on the roof of a gas station and auto refilling then rolling over elektro real low making the newbs shit themselves? mod. SA? hey, there's closed doors here! noone's hopped this sever yet! then mosin sniped by 3pp camper. patience, the health/status overhaul is promising enough. -
Look at it this way: if you were a new chef trying to make a name for yourself in the world of culinary excellence and you opened a restaurant offering a signature dish you designed yourself, you would want diners to taste it as you envisioned and as you prepared it. You would probably not be very happy if a bunch of wannabe chefs showed up and any time you served your signature dish one of them ran over and said "Hey, good choice! But, it's definitely better with a ton of barbecue sauce. Here you go!" *splash splash* Yes, you can argue the analogy is flawed because in the case of playing on modified servers, it is the player's choice and not the modder's. Maybe they like barbecue sauce? Maybe the dish even tastes okay slathered in barbecue sauce. Thing is, if they never taste it without, they won't know what they're missing. This is what I keep reading, but I disagree. I think there are a variety of ways that, especially long term, the persistent presence of modified servers could have an effect on your experience of the game. First is the most obvious: population. If more and more modifications become popular, it will become increasingly difficult to find populated vanilla servers. Especially in the long term as server owners start taking their servers offline or adopting mods because they aren't seeing activity on their vanilla setups. Second is less obvious but more serious: development priorities. If Dean & the team look at the player population and see that most people are playing on custom maps, what motivation will they have to modify vanilla Chernarus? If custom weapon packs and vehicle packs become the norm, why would the team dump a lot of resources into creating their own? Eventually, they could come to rely on modders to "take care of content" while they just focus on game features. That works great for everyone except people on vanilla servers, who get no new weapons/vehicles/map updates because the team has handed that torch over to the mod community. Last is as I said before: brand integrity. DayZ initially went viral because of the things it does differently than other titles: permanent death, unrestricted PvP, open world survial, etc. If Dean can build on the game's success then it will be proof that there is room in the industry for hardcore, niche features like this. If the media and industry executives instead see most people abandon vanilla DayZ for "lol rocket launcher party" servers, then they will just see it as confirmation of long-standing industry norms. "People don't want hardcore games, so let's just go ahead and make Left 4 Duty 6: Nazi Dance Revolution."

Honest feelings about the Mod & if StandAlone is for me
Ineedscoffee replied to Marmoo's topic in General Discussion
Haven't even touched the mod, I do however, watch streamers that have. In fact, I prop my ipad mini up and have it playing on twitch while I look for beans. Down south is no mans land. Almost the entire southern coast is in some form, populated. Either a fresh spawn trying to find leftover loot, greifers trying to find fresh spawns, or geared people looking for greifers. You step foot into one of the big three, your getting shot at. Any military site to the north within a five min walk is also barren. The deep north is a survivalists dream, hardly any players venture out that far, as they have no one to shoot at. Surviving in the south is quite difficult. You will be shot at, chased with axes, bats, fists. There will be hardly any food, packs, clothing. Since zombies are toned down for stress testing, you won't really find much of them either. Now if you enjoy stalking other players and taking what's yours, this is your spot. You will find thrilling firefights. Watching Sacriel yesterday, he was fired upon at least twice, on two different instances, causing his heart to just about explode. He even had an hour long squad fire fight the day prior. He was standing in a watchtower, quiet as hell, talking to his stream, when two m4's ripped into the glass windows. Hell i jumped lol. The big name streamers, Lyric, Sacriel, Summit, even Towelliee, and a large handful of others seem to greatly approve of the standalone. Gameplay wise, graphics wise, it's a step forward. Granted it's a barebones version of the mod, it also doesent suffer from the rampant hackers. Now we do have ghosters and combat loggers. 98% of the community kills on sight, real banditry is rare. We do suffer some glitches, such as ladders, falling through floors, stairs, walls, mosin glitching when you try to eject ammo during prone, etc. All this will be addressed. Happy additions such as hunting, cooking, vehicles, poo throwing and such, has been outlined for the future. For me dayz was a completely new gaming experience, that handled my skyrim addiction. After over 90 hours played (damn you steam tracker! Some things are better left unknown!) I still greatly feel like my thirty dollars was worth it. It's almost like I paid for a 90 dollar game. Just keep in mind, going forward with whatever choice you make, that this is early alpha, on a game slated for a 2015 release. A lot can happen in between then. -
Why not have improvised vehicles in general, mad max syle. 1 or two seat land, air and water craft would be a great addition. It would be closer to reality than you think, people make land and water vehicles using small engines all the time.

Medical system for DayZ Part 2: Emergency care for other players
Roshi (DayZ) replied to Roshi (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Yeah this is actually a vast simplification of reality. It aims to be plausible is all. As a suggestion it would be far cry from a final system, which would be subject to revision through the alpha (and beta) process. In my view anything that adds depth and rewards real world knowledge would be great for dayz. Similar things could (and should in my view) be done for hunting/preparing meat, vehicles/mechanics, weapon use/maintenance (all areas where I know next to nothing). -

New Origins Server If you play you will stay! :)
nerowingers posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hello friends of DayZ Origins! Today we are using this forum to provide you the chance of becoming a part of our little Origins community. Our team presents you our freshly hosted origins-server. If you think “there can’t be much going on there”, you’re wrong! Only a few days after the server start, we had already 15 players on our server. Still it’s a young server, so you got all the possibilities you need to reach your goals e.g. simple looting, car fixing or even house building. We, the admins are not just rookie friendly, we even help them. We provide fixed vehicles and building materials for your own houses. So if you’re looking for a fair and impartial admin-team, our origins server’s the place to be. We provide: -Origins-Server IP: 188.165.206.89:2302 -TS 3 85.114.154.12:10387 - Friendly admin-team that’s active an helps you with your problems -As long as cucumbers are green, our serves keeps running. At least 1 year ;) (so don’t be afraid that you’re just building for a short game time) - Trading admins (sometimes gifts for newspawner) - Planned safe zone to trade without danger -Admins playing hero style to build trust between the players We demand: - Fair gameplay! - Follow the rules made by the admins! - Only kill newspawner as a matter of self defence! - Robbing other players’ bases (including any kinds of vehicles) allowed! - Purposeless base destroying may result a kick/ban! - No: combatlogging, hacking, glitching, bug using, and insults while using ingame-chats If you got any questions, just show up at our TS 3 server. We hope to see you soon! Your Gurken-Power-Admin-Team (cucumbers power force) -
That's a little bit specious. The release will support mods, but there's absolutely no information on what the extent of those mods will be. It will be up to the team to decide how modifiable the base functionality is and how far off baseline mods are permitted to go. The danger arises with completely new players who might think they want a certain experience. Someone who has never played "true DayZ" might not know what the experience is really like and immediately assume it's not their thing because of some articles or online reviews they read, so they immediately flock to modified servers and never give the base game a chance. Perhaps if they had tried it out they would have found it to their liking after all, and changed their mind about the base experience, but given the range of mods available never actually play the base game. That's bad in my opinion. It has the ability to do both. It can expand the player base, but it can also limit it in certain ways. I support mods, but I think they should be limited in scope and type. I do not feel that players should have the option to play on "100 vehicles, all rocket launchers, no gravity, glow-in-the-dark underpants" servers, or "all thermal snipers, 10 million player health" servers, etc. At some point it becomes a question of brand integrity. rocket/Bohemia surely want the DayZ brand to mean something in the industry. Controlling what that brand means to players and the media is an important part of building towards a future that includes games that are more hardcore, like baseline DayZ. I would like to see them maintain the integrity of the name by not allowing people to drag it through the mud with insanely ridiculous mods, or goofy changes to the game's basic premise. Mods I would like to see would be things like:More powerful zombiesMore numerous zombiesNo loot respawns (or 24 hour cycles)Temporary bans on deathTournament play (think Hunger Games)Faster day/night cycleLess ammunitionNew maps, locations, buildingsClan vs. Clan with statsSlower health rengerationNew items and weapons Mods I would hate to see would be things like:Tons of vehiclesTons of ridiculous weaponsNo PvP, "Friendly only" Vehicles galore!Goof-around changes to gravity, friction, player healthKill cams, nametags, map waypoints (like old recruit servers)No hunger/thirst/sickness/weatherUnlimited ammoClown suits for everyone!Global chat

To be honest i dont think they are rare if you know where to look ;) I have found lots of them in the front of the car wrecks, esp the ones beneath the cherno skycrapers. But i personally dont like them to be split in quarters, i dont think it encourages people to search for them instead of checking an online map. Just put the whole map in and keep them spawning in vehicles, i like that idea a lot.
-
Yup, I know that's why never come alone. We wolves always run in a pack. Still looking for potential people to trade with. Trying to build relations with other groups before the game get harder to survive, Want to build trust and a network. So when Rocket adds vehicles and base building we are solid. Look at the big picture guys. We are building for a better future for both parties. I'm pretty sure as SA develops the game will be harder and loot rarer to find.

[CHANGED] Loadingscreen now has better clear images of vehicles driven/flown by Admins. -
Does anyone know when vehicles are going to be released and what vehicles?
-
we will get civilian and military vehicles. but we wont get tanks, apcs, ifvs or any other stupid unbeatable armored vehicles like that.
-
We don't even have vehicles yet...
-
In an Epoch mod there is some kind of vehicle upgrades - good. How about using an Origins mode and upgrade the vehicle with a metal plates (wheel guards or windshields for better protection) or metal poles (welding up some kind of bar protection or ram similar to the cyber punk vehicles from the movies). You could also stick zombies on a metal thorns on the car body or something like that.Off course some kind of special tools or workbench would be necessary ;)
-
I agree, but as long as there is no vehicles, it's going to be a real pain in the ass to have to walk everywhere! So maybe wait until vehicles are implemented, then do something about the unlimited running.
