We had a few vehicles spawn last night but they disappeared after a reset trying to get third person working. No word from HFB as of yet. -

Bugs: 1. physics (zombies/players clipping through walls, random terrain & player collision damage, having to squeeze through doors, vehicles exploding easily) 2. d/c abuse (server hopping for loot/teleportation, d/c'ing to avoid death) 3. erratic corpse despawns (sometimes seconds after an ally dies his corpse disappears, I can't get his stuff; same with people I've just killed) Features 1. Friend list: (a) tags on mouse-over for people I trust (b) rate players on a scale of bandit to friendly; color code "P" menu and side-chat usernames based on ratings from friends and friends of friends (red,orange,yellow,green?) 2. spawn drifting zombie hordes as opposed (or in addition) to static zombie spawns in cities (too easy to plan around). I'd rather have more concentrated zombies; even if we encounter zombies less often, the chance of encountering a HORDE will keep players on their toes. Right now the only threat zombies offer is that you have to shoot them and alert players of your presence (still a useful role to play, but not very scary) 3. Operational buildings & power plants. Dynamic interactions with random players in order to get buildings running and acquire loot (ie. group A secures factory, group B secures power plant, A must negotiate with B to get factory to produce ammo) Could apply to gas stations, street lights, etc. -

I'll save you the trouble of looking up my post history, I am merciless and evil bandit to those who I don't know outside of the game and am ventrilo with. I could see this idea working out if you fortified around the Northern barracks and industrial area. You could set up a tent farm industrial area and use the walls and choke points to you advantage and get a massive stockpile of goods from firestation+barracks+control tower, without too much risk to yourselves to open ground. The only issue with the industrial walled off area is you are very at risk to frag grenades. You have to watch your chokes with a minimum personnel (frag grenades love bunches of people) and I would keep a bulk of people in Forrest behind wall. The southern barracks has a similar setup is a little more spread out less loot spawns but safer lots of free cover and you could police more angles. This would be risk versus reward on can fill tents very quickly. I would reccomend setting up vehicle hideaway, away from your premium secret off base tent farm. Personnel wise you are looking at about a 10 minimum (at all times) and 25ish man prime operating time requirement. Hangers are suicide for looting due to snipers. Also firefights and the the firestation control tower are an issue with unsilenced weapons you can get overrun with superior firepower just because the zombies respawn so quickly. Smarter bandits are going to harass from the trees, snipe (hangers+control tower and firestation) and use frags, smarter bandits will eventually find your premium tents and vehicle base... But If you have a larger enough operation you can replace your losses much faster than they can take them or move your base on occasion. Ideally your fire teams will be holding your premium items so losing your premium base is less of an issue because they were just backups. Good luck vehicles will be very necessary because it's a 40 min sprint (not stopping) from most spawns, copter makes round trip transit about 15-20 min and cars round trip is 20-30. -

Same deal. After the server issues this morning I tried modifying the difficulty. That is about the only thing similar we did. However, the problems were happening before then. I'm curious Epsilon, did you have vehicles spawn in your server? I put in a ticket last night because we scoured our server yesterday and never found any vehicles. There are about 5 locations where we know vehicles spawn (We can hop on any fresh server and always see the same vehicle at the same spot) I put in a ticket but they said vehicles were definitely spawning according to the server RPT. I'm wondering if this is at all related. -
I haven't found any other skins in-game, or vehicles for that matter. Does that mean they're not there? Ohh noooo

Hey, next time this happens shout in side chat and ask for someone in 9k to do something. We have [9k] in front of our names. One of us can usually kick/ban players or reset the server to get rid of those vehicles. These guys with no names are also usually the hackers. We had someone with no name on our server before and low and behold he tries to spawn a plane at the NW airfield. Luckily we had someone there and caught it before it flew off.

Vehicles aren't enabled/disabled server side, they are spawned in from time to time by the dev team. That being said, helicopters haven't been respawned for a very long time. :( -

Yes, this is Dallas 42. Interesting... Well the Apache is gone. I help run Dallas 42. What other vehicles were talked about so we can start looking for them and squash them. When I say gone I mean I made the guys crash it. Mystery Solved. It was leftover from hackers. Please lock this thread or delete it. -
For no reason. It is perfectly logical that you need a toolbox (as in the right set of tools) to repair vehicles. You can't do it with your bare hands and fingers. And so, I too asked this very same question in another thread, as I also struggled with finding a toolbox. The answers blew me away too, so many hours wasted on trying to find something that I thought was necessary to have to repair stuff, only to find out that you don't need it at all, except if you're gonna set up barbed wires and/or tank traps.

You do not need toolboxes to repair vehicles.

So I've recently read in the DayZ wiki, that the toolboxes don't spawn in the latest version, this seems to be true, as I've searched the entire industrial area in Cherno and have not found one toolbox. This especially sucks, becouse I had just found a bus and had all the parts to repair it. Does anybody have any confirmation on the disappearance of toolboxes? If yes, then is there any other way to obtain them, since there is no way to repair vehicles otherwise.

Bugs: 1. Z glitching. 2. Doorways. 3. Vehicle collision or whatever it is that makes them explode without warning. Features: 1. Random encounters: mutant Z's, military patrols, radio chatter in random locations, etc. 2. Random loot locations: rare items could spawn anywhere. Not just in certain areas (airfields, deer stands, etc). Also, loot under bridges, by dams, wrecked vehicles or out in the woods in the middle of nowhere. 3. Random events: relief drops (crate strapped to a parachute with a flare dropped by a cargo plane), bombings (if more Z's are added and certain areas become overwhelmed with Z's), fires, jet flybys, etc. -

Fix : 1) Item duping/loss (2 I know) 2) logging to prevent dying 3) Tent placement things I want : 1) An in game item to allow comms across the server. it could be a radio, or w/e. Removal of side chat (maybe beta only) REALLY sucks. blah blah blah immersion, blah blah blah realism. I dont care. I hate not being able to talk/chatter to the server while I am playing. Not all servers host Comms, and the ones that do, not alot of ppl use them. 2) I would love to see a system for bases, or fortifications.. but I dont see it as being feasible. Once they are located, they are going to be looted and destroyed... making it a waste of time. Cant man the walls 24/7. 3) I would like to see a more randomized vehicle generation system. Once they are destroyed, they should pop somewhere randomly back on the map. Vehicles change the scale of the game 100%, and the way you play it. I dont want to see hundreds of them, but I feel like they should be a wee bit more accessible. -

zombies hit through walls zombies run faster than cheetahs zombies walking in buildings(should walk on stairs only) more vehicles customize weapons (take out the need for SD and add a silencer for 3 different types of weapon, pistol, rifle and sniper) make servers have to use most recent save. -

Just wanted to update. Got the ticket responded too (fast as always). We'll definitely spend more time looking for the vehicles, we had a clean server and searched for a few hours in spots we always encounter them on other server. I'm guessing there must just be a few different vehicle location profiles of sorts. Besides that, our server appears to be down at the moment - cant access it from the control panel. Not sure if this is related at all. I have a ticket in. But I do want to say, overall you guys are great and definitely deserve more business! EDIT: And just like that it is back up. Thanks! -

Three Bugs: 1) Hacking/Duping exploits 2) Camo swapping sending you to ocean 3) Vehicles being so temperamental (toughen em up) Three Features: 1) Player customization or unique models (not PMC skins) 2) Booby traps (flare tripwires, placing a live grenade in loot...) 3) Tent/Cache variety: There are a few different tents already in the engine from stock ARMA2. I think those being an option instead of only the old camping tent would be nice. -

Hitting / clipping items in vehicles at speed = explosion with this engine. Going around the town in said vehicle in field is wiser choice to many barricades to contend with. Game loves the Hollywood explosions vs realism I guess. -

Anti tank RPG is actually in game absurdly rare barracks spawn, sadly it's only effective vs vehicles, focused charge won't blow up cluster of zed or players. -
Once upon a time I found a UAZ (Red). It was my first vehicle ever and I was jizzing all over the place after I fixed the wheels, hull, and engine. While cruising through Polana I maneuvered to dodge some debris. I must have bumped it, (Dispite the lack of a banging noise) because my UAZ (Red) slowed to a stop almost instantly! Then I exploded. Another time, I was trying to get through Gorka with my newly acquired Old Hatchback... Green everything, but an orange Engine of course. I hit a fence with the hopes of knocking it over. But naturally my Hatchback merged with the fence, and promptly exploded. I totally understand this is an Alpha, and I'm not raging like a bitch... But damn, it's like their carrying landmines or something!

I am not an admin on the server but 1-2 days ago the server files were completely deleted by the hosting company so everyone lost their vehicles and tents. As for the ban, Fallout is a friend of the admin (so am I), it was an inside "joke" and a temporary ban, I was on the server when this happened and the admin even announced it over admin chat which you so conveniently did not decide to take a screenshot of. Also this ban happened at the beginning of this week, odd how you decided to post it after the server files were deleted by the hosting company and you lost all your shit instead of posting it right away. As for the locking of the server, the admin only does that if he needs to check if the server is running properly (it seems to have issues sometimes) at which point he will be the only player on the server or if you would have paid attention, isn't even running the dayz mod (but vanilla Arma2 maps like CTI) when locked with other ppl inside at which point dayz server rules do not apply. I see you are butthurt over loosing all your shit and you thought the admin did it, so you came here with a wall of text with half assed accusations, but everyone lost their shit on the server and it had nothing to do with the admin. Get over it.

Fallout is in his group snowflake ... Server resets were addressed already. Server running like shit isn't the "admin's" problem, it's the hosting and the massive amount of attention this game has gained Arma... You are showing no concrete proof of anything else you have "heard or seen personally". The server was locked a few times with just him in it to force it past briefing because everytime he had to restart players would just cockslam the server again trying to get back in. The server was also locked and set to the ARMORY in which he asked about 7 people to join it and blow the shit out of cherno to see if it was the server running like crap or dayz running like crap. Low and behold, there is nothing wrong with Arma. It's the massive amount of dudes that can't read the forums and connection spam / do shit that further harms the gameplay for the players and the server. IE singing/playing music in fucking global channel. I appreciate your massive amount of research and attention to detail before you decided to post this garbage on the forums. Here are some things to try in the future ... When seeing the locked server ... actually fucking check to see if it's running dayz mod or even states it in the freaking title. Also, when making pretty big claims of abuse ... please post more evidence to back it up besides a screen shot of him banning a dude who just launched an m136 over his groups head and knocking them all out in a clearing... /endwhiteknight No seriously ... admins pay money so they can support a game that you play for free. The game is in alpha, you are entitled to nothing. Stop being a special little snowflake and go find another server to smear. Please see that all your loot and vehicles find their way to my camp at your earliest convenience.

Sync vehicle spawns? I think there IS a way. Or just like teleport the vehicles of a player to the server where he is...

Scrap metal is pretty rare in my opinion and there are many tin cans lying around so it would be nice if you could collect tin cans and craft scrap metal from them which you can use to repair vehicles.
