I know that a few people have asked for buildings or the ability to secure them. That makes sense and I like the idea. But heres my thought. A simple blind or fighting position. With the e-tool you can dig a postion that gives you cover and some concealment when you are in the prone this is like a hasty fighting position. Add more time to the process and you can dig a fighting position this allows you to stand on offers better protection. Add the hachet and option to collect brush you can camoflage the postion. Sand bags may also be used to offer additional protection however in agame at this point it looks like they only make a wall. Blinds - Using natural vegitation, With the hatchet you collect brush and create a imprompto blind. Blinds are not bullet proof but they hide your gear or tent or your position. This will hide your character in a prone or kneeling postion. Blinds - When combined in the same area can also hide vehicles.

I would like to see a new feature where a vehicle which nobody interacts with (drive, save, etc.) for a set period of time will have its "health" decay and if it continues to be neglected it will be destroyed. This would help to alleviate problems where people log into a server find a vehicle drive it into the middle of nowhere, or off the map, and save it. Thus permanently having a vehicle out on the map that no one is using. Obviously the time it takes to degrade might need to be toyed with to find something optimal, but 48 hours with no one touching for it to take a hit to durability doesn't seem to bad to me. Thoughts?

We got hackers that spawn weapons and vehicles to servers. Quick travel to locations. Change entire players base of server to different skins spawning them to the de-bug ocean. Got Hackers that can even kill entire servers with the entry of a code or touch of a button. With almost no limitations you got people out there ruining the fun experience everyone should have, and i haven't seen any news of it. Then you got stupid crap like http://www.elitepvpers.com/forum/general-gaming-discussion/1923092-arma-2-dayz-hack.html. Anyone heard of future Battle eye updates or anything that's being done to stop all this. Never heard of a game with no hackers, But i see the population of the hackers/cheaters going unchecked. Never ONCE encountered a hacker until this past week were it appears they've gone crazy on screwing with servers. Any server, not just one.. all of them.. Where ever they feel like jumping on and being a fool. -

I fixed up a car and enjoyed riding it... But what happens when I log off? If I click "save car" will it disappear when im off and go back on when I return? Or do I have to hide it from other players? If I have to hide it, where do u guys usually hide ur vehicles?

"[LLJK] Monkeys" seems to have hacked this server, as from atleast 18GMT on, the ingame map showed the location of all "BLUFOR" and zombies. We observed that a green "dot" was approaching one of our party, 700m from us, where we had our ATV (vehicles were also visible). He was coming at a very high speed and our member reported seeing him as rubberbanding around while crouched. Surprisingly, our party member managed to kill him in the exact same moment as he was killed himself (one shot). We were running back to get the gear from our fallen member, as the area was hit with an airstrike, at which point we immediately logged off for fear of being killed in various ways :) The gear of the guy in question was a DMR sniper, night vision gear and rangefinder, so ye... (no we didn't keep it, no fun to get those items this way). The guy started bombing various players with a jet after this first explosion. It's still ongoing as of 20:25 CET. -

OCN Miami Florida Server - deleted our two camps and vehicles

My clan, the Chernorussian DayZ Militia, had two base camps and several vehicles, like tractor, land rover, skoda red and the bycicle. And tons of weapons, food and equipment. So we were playing on the server, about 20 minutes ago, and the server restarts. We rejoin, and it´s all gone. Everything. So: what the hell happenned? Can they just destroy all our work like that? Hackers spawning vehicles for themselves - UK13 [screenshots included]

Server: UK13 Server Version: 1.60.93348 Client Version: 1.60. Date: 14.06.2012 Time: 18:21 GMT Issue: 2 players spawning helicopters for themselves that are not available in DayZ Mod. What happened: I was running west along the north side of Chernarus, heading towards Devil's Castle. I heard the sound of a helicopter, and saw a player (UK13 runs on regular with nameplates on) flying above me in an Mi-24. The player was 'Mr.Razor'. He was followed by another player in an AH-64. The player was 'Cortez'. I heard some loud explosions, but could not see anything else. I followed in the direction they had been flying and came to Devil's Castle. There I saw 2 helicopters on the ground. A Chinook, and an AH-64. There were 2 players running around the AH-64, 'Mr. Razor' and 'Cortez'. I took a bunch of screenshots and then disconnected, so that they would not see and kill me (remember nameplates are on). Screenshots below of the Chinook, and then of the AH-64, once with 'Mr.Razor' in it, once with 'Cortez' in it. Edit: You can also see some kind of boxes in the ground on the screenshots, that are definitely NOT part of the normal Devil's Castle landscape. A vehicle is a death trap in this game its sure death. Eveyone wants a vehicle but you cannot shoot out of the dam things. So even if you can run chances are your still dead or your vehicle will be destroyed. The vehicles need to be modded so each person has an arc of fire our each window of the vehicle or from each position in the vehicle. I do not know game mechanics but I think its a Must have in this game. Secondly Vehicles need to be upgraded with scrap metal to increase thier hit point valuse and protect the occupants. Yes Just like Mad Max and Up armored Humvees and or your SHTF vehicles. The mechanic can be as simple as collecting extra winshields and scrap metal to boost your vehicle armor. A visual representaion would be nice down the road. Players find a Welding tourch ( gas ) or Arc welder and generator which allows the modifications. This adds an extra layer of realism but also keeps you on the road for a bit longer. Light armored vehicles: At some point I'd like to see BRDM's, Up Armored Humvees, Humvees, BMPs

Atleast I hope we can get just a bit information about this vehicles thing. I really hate running so much, the map is huge on foot. But can the staff please come with a update or ETA?.. This topic is old, and I think the fans deserve an update :-) -
We got our new server running finally, our first host was terrible. I suggest NO ONE use defcon, there total crap, at least for Arma. Let me get to the point then, our server just started, we had no vehicles, we rebooted the server and they were there, now, after an hour of having them the server did a weird crash thing... Everyone was either kicked out or (what happened to more people) they disconnected to the lobby and had to reconnect, after that all of the vehicles were gone and have yet to come back. I heard that once vehicles are back they never respawn... I honestly hope this is not the case because we were really looking forward to using some vehicles. -ServantOfNeutrality from Clan FMF-

That would be correct. I'm always interested in what can be done to a game but when i first started arma it seemed like battle eye had stopped all hackers for the longest time. Actually tho as in all games there was the elite few who knew how to do that never shared. Ive found or done many things people didnt know how to or where to find it and never shown it. This includes everything glitches, exploits, cheats, but then you get the people who want to show off how cool they are or rep and they show it off. At first it was just getting guns and vehicles. Now as ive been reading people are doing all kinds of things that ruins everyones fun. there is multiple ways of doing it. The way im figureing peole are doing it is so viral i bet that if i told rocket he would be like " Yea google told me, because its every where! Rocket if you dont know ill send you links. P.s. this isnt extortion but if i show you the stuff will you make my char a female again? i miss her and my friends miss starring at her ass on long runs lol. (._. ) sigh. Like i said ill give one way or the other just hopefull. -
So. I just decided to get in on the whole DayZ craze (because I <3 zombie-related everything). And this is what I'm greeted with: Basically, the foliage textures/objects have bugged out to hell and back with me. Characters, weapons, buildings, vehicles and other objects seem to be fine, though- Now, yes, my first thought was, "Oh crap, is something wrong with my computer?" but shortly thereafter I attempted launching vanilla ArmA:OA game and... Everything was fine. So, now my inclination is to suspect that there's something specifically wrong with the mod itself for me, right now. So, uh. Help? :<

Future "Enjoy your ban" and "You should of known better" posts are going to get deleted. Knock it off, no one knows what weapons/vehicles are in DayZ except the DayZ Staff.

But why would they first come up empty except the medical tent, then all but the medical tent disappear, also I have bikes/atvs and cars so I doubt he would not take at least one vehicle, especially with the location of the camp. Along with that I had backpacks in the tents(not just one) and they were all gone. So your telling me one guy took more than one backpack and left vehicles or that a group came and took the backpacks but not the blood bags/vehicles.

1) Sorry dude, but if I have been traveling around the map for 5 hours and am way up north, I should not be respawned at the coast simply because my server is full. Once again, this is punishing a player because an unknown percentage of the population takes advantage of the system. 2) Of course these are exploits that an MMO does not have. We are not locked to one server and because of the fact that servers can only handle small numbers of players at a time, locking people to one server is a bad idea. 3) I play on a few servers as much as possible. If I had a vehicle and was unable to log onto my server, I don’t think I should also loose my position when picking a different place to play. Vehicles being able to move between servers would probably break the back end and create immense balance issues so I agree they should not transfer from server to server. As for tents, I believe they should follow you from server to server. 4) You don’t need to be a camper to shoot a guy with a Makarov as you are heading back north. You are simply putting players with good loot close to players that just spawned. That will not end well. Also, I would be furious if I was forced to spawn along the coast and was immediately killed because the server punishes me for logging onto a server when my preferred server is full. Wouldn’t this just make campers stay closer to the coast more often? Killing and looting well equipped players… If i understand correctly, current 'logging in' system prevents the item/zed spawn from appearing in the vicinity of your location. Meaning if you have logged out in a building with loot, when you spawn in, there will be no loot for that whole building. Lets take it appart piece by piece. I wouldn't view this as a punishment' date=' but as a safeguard. You take it with a grain of salt. If we were to draw a conclusion based on your logic of most are not server hoppers - then most of us would not be affected by this change, as we do not server hop for specific locations Of course they're not, but you are dealing with exploiting that regular MMO would not have, thus the comparison is invalid. You cannot change the servers on MMO's. And if you do 'transfer' the character, you have to transfer in the 'safe zone' anyways. With recent re-introduction of vehicles a lot of players have 'settled down'. Your tents and vehicles dont follow you across servers' date=' so most people already have that one server that is good ping for them, and seem to generally prefer to wait for their server. If anything, i believe OP's idea about the Cherno/Electro campers life being ruined before the 'freshly spawned players'. How comfortable is that camper going to be, if he will know there is a chance that his shot will be heard by the 'high level equipment' wearing people who are in vicinity? With suggestion from Rocket about possible 'spawn without a weapon' you wont be able to engage in PvP right off the bat anyways. As for immunity' date=' also not the best of the concept. If anything was to be done, i would like to see a solution in direction of - a player without a weapon has smaller hitbox. Making it harder to kill that player. Did you see the upcoming patch notes? Includes 5 second timer for logging out ;) Oh it's coming, hehe -
