  1. I would not have any problems with hiding stuff outside of the map bondaries if that meant that anyone in the game can still find a fresh broken vehicle inside normal map. I have never encountered any *natural* vehicles inside normal DayZ's map(I've stolen a repaired motorcycle with an almost empty tank, but I think it belonged to someone before).Im starting to think that hiding vehicles outside of the map's borders causes a stop to the spawning of other vehicles. And this is bad. Maybe number of vehicles on the server should not be limited?Or am I mistaking here and they still spawn and Im just unlucky?
  2. Problem is. There are no Veichles anywhere on the map. The people who live in there moms basement already ran around everwhere collected them and moved them to an off map location where it is practically impossible to find. UNLESS you spent several months traveling with a team of 20 out in the 'desert' to find them. This includes all helicopters and off road vehicles. So what you are doing is, duping all gear out there in tents. All you need is 1 tent atm to make 1000+ same with every other item. So there is no need to come back to the map. Also you are avoiding any zombies or any other player encounter. I mean if you want to play Hello Kitty Online or THE SIMS with your character why dont you just go play those games? You talk about war with other clans thinking your some kind of elite because you were 'organised' grabbed the first helicopter on the map u saw and moved it way off the map. Stealing Vehicles off the map, avoiding any interaction with Zombies and other Players totally removes any DayZ gameplay at all. I mean why are you even playing this game SERIOUSLY? Like there are no other sandbox games out there? Out of bounds of the map should be punishable by death if your out there for longer than a few minutes u should get a countdown. This game and the people that play it get more retarded by the day. Its a shame. Of course they need to fix the spawning in Pre Deployment area first.
  3. As has already been pointed out to you, people taking all the vehicles and leaving them x amount out of bounds is unfair. I haven't a single car in my entire 20+ hours of playing this game. In fact, I've only seen a bike, and I'm pretty sure someone had ridden to where I found it. The problem is the mentality, in my honest opinion. The action doesn't really bother me, and I honestly feel like it could provide very interesting moments, but people should try to understand how they could be potentially exploiting. What I think it really comes down to is what Rocket thinks on this subject.
  4. I consider a clan taking all the vehicles and weaponry out of bounds, somewhere I literally have no hope of finding it, ruining my experience. Clans have no fear of death, no fear of their stash being found, its a safety net for pussies. It ruins the over all balance of the game.

    DayZ hackers? Gear wiped serverwide

I was wondering about this yesterday too, something similar happened - logged into one of my "home" servers, where I had 3 campsites spread across the map, and was aware of another 3 I'd found - all of them were destroyed. All tents flattened as though they'd been blown up or run over, regardless of location. Which would have taken more explosives than would be available on a server, it seemed every campsite had been destroyed server-wide. I've seen screen caps of hackers' maps showing the locations of vehicles, campsites and players, so it seems plausible. Though I don't know if it's possible to reset/roll back the server.

    More Script Users!!

I knew people were using vehicle markers.. no way these one hacker kids had found our base to explode up all our vehicles.
  7. Our merry little 7 players group has become bored and thus we have become bandits. We had everything we could get in this game: tons of weapons hidden in tents across servers, plenty of vehicles, enough food and medical supplies to eliminate need for further raiding for months to come. Then we started to hunt zombies for sport. Cleaned towns. Made silly experiments. We still had fun. When 7 players with skill and military weapons enter a a town, zombies or alone survivors have little chance. Of course some of us die to other players bullets but the rest of us kill those who killed some of us. Take the stuff from the dead and give them back to the freshly born team mates with Makarovs. So death means only 15 minutes trekking now to us. Increasing difficulty of zombies and survival would not solve this problem. It would only make the lives of newcomers even more harsh and those who do not have group would have no chance to survive at all. I would prefer to build things or hunt bandits and help other players than prey upon the weak. Direct communication range is too short for efficient estimation of friendliness. Shooting is safer. Somekind of ingame radio would be nice. Or a freeking megaphone :D This http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=11015 would be a good start but not the actual problem solver. What I suggest is some sort of longterm goals that last longer than individual lives of players. Lets have some discussion what those things could be. For example: - ability to produce stuff that people need from raw materials. - ability to get more permanent bases of operation: perhaps taking over some building and getting a generator there to produce electricity for lighting and other purposes. Maybe even to take control of some of those radio masts and beging a local server radio. Of course people would need some sort of portable equipment to listen that radio or buildings could have fixed radios for listening those. - possibility to modify vehicles, paint them (paints and all other parts need to be raided or produced of course) I know these things sound a bit like some sims game but is it necessary a bad thing? To have other things to do besides killing things that move and mere survival. Humans need greater purpose and meaning to things. Now we have none and killing other players is the only real reason to go into towns anymore. Now discuss, brainstorm and let your imagination fly high!

  9. Because there is a big difference between hiding a tent in a map that can still be stumbled across luckily by a player' date=' and a tent/vehicles 20 km away from the map, which are completely unavalaible unless you have the coordinates. [/quote'] People scour the area off the map all the time with the express purpose of finding tents. It's not unavailable. Anyone can go there.

    ...Dafuq?

Story time. A couple stories actually. So yesterday I was sitting at my base near the shipwreck at the NE corner of the map. All of my other friends were out on missions gathering food, vehicle supplies, etc, except one other friend. The loot we had managed to get was: Some kind of Zodiac speed boat Two leisure boats Two ATVs A Jeep that seats 5 (whos name I cannot recall) At least 3 tents full of food, guns&ammo, Medical supplies, etc) So I'm semi-AFKing in a tree checking the map on my steam overlay, when I see someone run across the base. I assume it's my other friend. The person gets into one of the Leisure boats. I mouse over the person; It is not one of us. She starts the boat up, and begins to (slowly) sail away. I put a few rounds into her with my M14; she's dead, but the boat is still moving. It slowly sails away, the corpse still slumped over to the side. I tell my friend what happened, and we check the base. This girl had ran past the Jeep, the two ATVs, the tents, and chose to steal the slow-ass leisure boat instead of the fast Zodiac boat. ...Dafuq? Later that day, during the evening, one of my friends on teamspeak brings his friend over to our new base (we changed locations after someone else found it) this friend rides over on an ATV. He says we can keep it. Later he goes out and rides a motorcycle into camp. Then two cars I dont think are even in the game. All have full health, and this is in the span of thirty minutes. The next day, a Fully-operational helicopter spawns in the middle of our camp, while this guy is on. (obvious hacks is obvious) However, as the server admin was also in our group, he reset the server, which despawned all the hacked in vehicles. ....Dafuq?

The ability to build and grow crops

Not sure if serious, Day Z = Zombie Apocalypse Survival Simulator. If you want to play it as a shooter than that’s up to you. If you want to sneak in and out without shooting at all, it's up to you. If you want to run around being a medic and patching people up, it's up to you. If you want to be a motherfucking bus driver doing your route then it's up to you. If you want to Bear Grylls it in the wilderness, you can, it's up to you. If you want to rebuild society in this god forsaken world, by gum you should be given the chance to try. This game gives you more options than just guns, guns are just a game mechanic, like driving is a mechanic and sneaking is a mechanic. If you don't feel like you'd use added features, then congrats, you don't have to use them; The game is finished as far as you are concerned. This game is a Simulator, It gives you the scenario. You get to pick what you want to do with it. If Day Z was a shooter, then you'd probably be seeing things like killstreaks, teams, rankings, scores, KDR, regenerating health. And probably a respawn button so you'd have more than one life? You know; the things that are noticeably and actively missing? but hey, here I was thinking I'd get constructive crit. As this is a suggestion board you know, for suggestions and for people to make a case for why said suggestions would add something extra to the game. An actual Discussion, not "Farmville = Growing crops" because what does that have to do with anything? Are plants and zombies mutually exclusive? than what about Plants vs Zombies? Or are we just illustrating other games with mechanics? Like: COD = Shooter, Flight Sim = Flight Sim, L4D = Zombies, GTA = Vehicles in Sandbox. Big Buck Hunter = Hunting animals. What I'm getting at, is that you added nothing of substance with your post, it wasn't constructive and was barely on topic and added no avenues of discussion. Which makes me think you didn't read the "Please read before posting" sticky, which makes me wonder why you are commenting in the suggestion forum at all really. You can tell me you think my idea is bad, I really don't mind, I'd just like to know the WHY for sake of discussion and possibly improving my idea.
  13. So that's where all the vehicles are :O
  14. It's an exploit, and I hope it gets fixed. I actually made a post about this in the suggestions forum earlier today. It isn't fair for a clan to stash all of the vehicles on the map outside of the boundaries a million miles away, where no player can reach it without jogging for hours.
  15. Many of the most popular servers are now becoming targets for all the script hackers. im refering to mainly- - Teleportation of other players (havent seen this myself in a while) - Kill scripts that insta kill players out of no where - Server wide kill scripts that kill everyone on the server - Spawning of vehicles that do not occur in DayZ (But exist in arma and remain in the CFGs) - Spawning of weapons and gear not present in DayZ to gain supernatural advantage (See weapons with thermal sights) - Various other hacks (Ie poping you out of your body and into something else) Now on normal vanilla servers Admins can deal with this, But DayZ has tied our hands so tightly to protect a few people being wrongfully kicked? This is ruining the game on a far wider scale then a few abusive admins ever will. Some things are easy to prove... a clever script hack is not. Placing the burden of proving such hacks on the admin delays appropriate bans and allows these hackers to ruin servers and ruin individuals enjoyment of this mod (which aside from its bugs is the best thing i've ever played!) I'm not saying there should be a free-for-all for every kid with cash to rent a server so he can power trip, But you must either aggressively work to stop this hacking ASAP or loosen restrictions on admins. In the latter case, Allow at least Bans local to that server for suspicion of hacking. Even better would be to allow Admins to run server side detection scripts that can auto kick/ban. While we uphold the highest standards of evidence for Bans on our servers this influx of Hacks is causing a situation where many many offenders wreck people hard earned progress and simply jump to another server for their next attack because admins are reluctant to ban for fear of thier server being blacklisted.
  16. I agree it definitely would be more fun with more vehicles and bikes.
  17. The motivations have changed because players have figured out the game, zombies are barely a threat, but finding the best weapons/vehicles/packs/skins is hard if you're just checking loot spots over and over, the best way to get the best stuff is to take it from others. (and they may not have gotten that stuff legitimately either)
  18. http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=10885 In response "Sciencecows" idea about adding a "depression/anxiety" meter to force more player interaction i randomly came up with the idea that players should be splintered into several archetypes as it would-be real situation, as it stands now we all basically look like CIA/Blackwater(random) operatives rolling about in a zombie apocalypse being able to do every/anything in the current version. We never bring in new guys we dont know into our group purely because we have no idea if we could trust them but if you're all bringing something unique to the group it's in everyones best interest to get along ;D I'm curious to see what peoples thoughts about several survivor archetypes to choose from all with their own advantages/disadvantages/starting gear/model? For example;- Civilian - Average joe but not so average! Engineer - repairing vehicles/building objects etc Civvy/Military qualified pilot EMT(Emergency Medical Technician) Military soldier - Unit destroyed during infected counter attack? Police Officer - Over run & fled Etc. Lore wise it wouldn't cause a massive issue as if/when you die you just respawn as "another" guy within the same archie. On paper i could see these individuals coming together to survive & bring their own skill set to the group to survive or against the world to form a "psychopathic war-band" to scavenge aggressively throughout the world. :-)

Global chat should not have been disabled in the Alpha

Thanks for the response rocket, I won't pretend to understand exactly how the servers work as I don't run one right now (though I am looking into trying to set one up), however your answer does lead me to another question. Why do the vehicles and tents not spawn sometimes if the problem with the server / hive restart is fixed? Also, just a suggestion, but some form of OOC chat for reporting server problems that is policed by the admins, or through some other method to prevent its exploitation, would be very useful while the mod is still in alpha. If you talk in group chat while in the lobby, the admin can see that in the admin console. If they aren't in the console, odds are they wouldn't be able to restart it at that moment anyway. Did not know that, thanks for the info.
  20. Hey. Im DeVynta, Just turned 15 in April. I have a teamspeak and of course, a mic. My talents include being able to think on my feet, im also very good at scavenging and sneaking around. Im not the best at straight up combat. I know alot of the ins and outs of DayZ, where to find the best loot, most secure places. I can also pilot helis and vehicles. But, I'm not a fun nazi, i like to joke around to. I feel working in a group is way more effective then anything else, I adapt from being a helpful guy who trust people too much, to a guys who if you back stab, will make sure you never touch a can of beans again. Anyways, looking forward to playing with you. -DeVynta
  21. Did restart returned all vehicles back to it's spawns today or not ? If not, maybe it should be done ? Seems like majority of vehicles were stolen by exploiters and cheaters - there are dozens of youtube videos with fuktards blowing up multiple stolen cars in forests while legit players cant find anything.

    Resuscitation

Hey all: I posted this idea in the 'revival paddles' thread, but I feel like it deserves a fresh open eye from the community rather than hidden away in a random post of a thread, so here it is. Well, I'm here and registered just now because this is one of the best ideas I've seen for the game so far coming from a non-developer. This game already is one of the most fun video games I have played in a long time, but referring to the original poster, I have to agree. This game needs SOME kind of resuscitation. THAT SAID.... I am a medic, and there are ways to do this without the usual "GIVE ME THE SHOCK PADDLES" as stated before usually in games like Battlefield 3. I feel like this game should use a painful, drawn out process as the original poster stated as well. In the field, there are better ways than a two click process to resuscitate someone in hemorrhagic shock. I believe you should need a drawn out process, taking 7-10 steps to completely resuscitate someone. I believe once down, there can be a 5 minute window from the second he hits the floor to when there is a blood pack AND high flow oxygen hooked up to him(explained later). Once you are at the blood pack (part one) the timer stops unless he bleeds out to zero again, then it starts again, but this time, you have two minutes instead of five to get more blood into his system. ALSO , it should DEPEND on how the player died. If they were mauled/eaten alive by zombies, it should require (not going into details of drug names) antibiotics via IV Therapy extra on top of everything. If they were shot multiple times, it should require extra bandgaes, like 5 to stop the player from bleeding once you start giving him saline/blood. So, sample steps should be like the following: GUNSHOTS/FALLS/TRAUMA: 1) Combitube/Intubation (for airway control) (2 slot item) 2) High flow oxygen via intubation with bag valve mask. (spawn together, take up two slots) 3) Blood pack (#1). He will continue to bleed out until you bandage (after this step) 4) 5 Bandages. (One bandage is not enough to stop multi point trauma wounds. 5) If the bleeding is stopped below 8000 HP from the first blood pack, you will need to administer another blood pack(#2) before continuing. 6) 2 Occlusive bandages (People generally get shot in the chest, it stops your lungs from collapsing for an open chest wound) 7)Antibiotic IV therapy (similar to use of a blood pack) 8) 1 Morphine 9) Patient is stabilized. I think that a player should now get the incapacitated timer, set for 30 minutes. I know, long time, but this would be a sacrifice anyone would make, especially if you're part of a team. they can still drag you into the woods, or into a building and overwatch you. This would give your body time to stabilize ( no where close to real life , obviously) This would make your team vulnerable and make them react to keep you alive. I know a few times I died from something stupid and it woudl have been nice to have a buddy pick me up and say "seeya in 30" rather than "Have fun walking back and probably getting shot." When the player is up, he will have to take pain killers every 30 minutes for the first hour to stop getting the jitters. (or at least once). THAT said. This system would generally take up a LOT of space (15), I know. But as stated before, having MULTIPLE ITEMS and a TEDIOUS process will make this need to have the designated 'Doc' on your team that is there to help when someone goes down. The meticulous process would also engage player more than (give epi-pen) when they're onconcious and boom, they're awake, Or just a small window to shock once and they're ready to go. I feel like that would be a little more sacrificial for supplies, and keep the balance of the game in tact. Even if you are with a single friend, just carry the stuff in your pack.. if one of you goes down, you can both pull supplies out as needed to patch eachother up, same with bigger teams. it just encourages watching your buddy's back more, and if he gets that one server hopper (happened to my friend last night) that logs into a stary sobor tent as he walks by it and gets blasted in the back, you both don't have to spend a long time regrouping. Yes, he'll be on the floor next to you, but you'll have the chance to save all of his things and get his limp body to safety. If a system like this went into affect, it'd be nice to be able to not only drag bodies, but get them into vehicles (only unconscious/stabilized) and taken out. That way you can (if your team has the resources) get them to a greater safe place to recuperate. I know I went into a lot of detail of my off-chart version of the original poster, but let me know what you think about this kind of system for resuscitation. I didn't throw in the 'downed by zombie' steps but it would be different in my opinion. Thoughts? Thanks for reading. -Purgatory

    The definitive VEHICLE SPAWNS thread

How many vehicles can a server spawn? Like, if someone grabs the motorcycle at Berezino, is it gone forever? Will it respawn if the server is restarted (a normal restart, to clear lag)? Will it respawn if it gets destroyed? Will it respawn if a certain amount of time passes, but someone still has the first one?
  25. I don't think I'm alone when I say that I don't want to have to walk for 4 hours off of the map to discover the location of someone's camp. It isn't fair or realistic that a clan can get all of the vehicles on a server, drive them north for a while, and make them nearly unattainable to the rest of the players on the server who are stuck on foot. Some invisible walls would solve this problem.
