Me and my friend drove around with ATVs yesterday. Unfortunately he crashed cause a cliff and his ATV dropped on side. There was no possibility to turn it around or let it respawn. When I tried to ram it with my own ATV, the crashed one flew like 100m metre in the air to crash again in the nearby lake, where it did explode finally... Is it possible to add an option to turn around crashed ATVs/vehicles?

Hotfix Build 1.7.1.4 Rolling Update (was 1.7.1.3)
poisonman replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Rocket, I got 2 small suggestions. 1) You should make the hatchet go back in the utility slot, and from your inventory you can right click it to chop / harvest wood like you use to normally, or you can right click it to equip it as a melee weapon. 2) you should do the same thing with the crowbar, and also as a future feature / suggestion, you can make the crowbar able to pry open locked doors (like when you make all the unenterable buildings enterable) or make it so you can lock doors as a future feature, could also use the crowbar to break / pry things as well? (ie if you eventually make it so you can make keys for and lock vehicles, or if you make like lockable boxes, crates, chests, etc that you can store things in) Would also be nice in the future if the zombies had to break down doors etc instead of opening them or just walking through them. -
Same. I don't think the ArmA 2 engine is accurate enough with line-of-sight and current walking surface to support this change in the detection mechanics. Its difficult to tell when you are about to walk from grass to a hard surface, and the sound meter jumps two bars when you do. That's the difference between being heard 20 meters away and being heard 100 meters away. The LoS calculation is obviously broken, and I expect there isn't attenuation of sound by obstructions, i.e. if you are inside and walking you should basically be inaudible and invisible to any z outside the house. I think these changes were probably put in to satisfy the vets who find the game too easy now that they have stocked camps, large teams and a garage full of vehicles. But obviously they can't be expected to voice the real reason it is too easy for them: they can hang onto stuff permanently, death isn't an issue when someone can grab your stuff for you and you can just go back to your camp to rearm after respawn, and you can stash all your vehicles 40km off the edge of the map so no one else has a hope of stumbling over them. Oh, also the blatant glitch abuse to duplicate items. I raided a camp the other day which had about 20 NVGs in various tents and vehicles. This would represent 1000s of hours of searching the barracks, pretty obviously they were duplicated using one of the various duplication bugs. These are the things that should be fixed to make late game harder.

Zombies after patch 7.1.1.4
Big Boss (DayZ) replied to evotech's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm sure it will get tweaked again. Hope the runner speed drops a bit, and to see shamblers added etc. I was on top of the Balota Airfield control tower shooting zeds, but they didn't bother swarming the building for some reason. (using an M249) Also noted the jump in noise / sight meters, I managed to sneak while they were not looking at me and I also hugged the hell out of buildings / rubble / broken vehicles. -
NOTE: "Too long did not read" people, skip to bottom. So I commonly see "it's an alpha, bruh" thrown around a lot, used as an awful excuse for, well, everything. I get that, by definition, DayZ is an alpha-level quality release. The only thing I'm confused about is the "test" part. Any alpha test I've participated in (read: tester, logger, worker. not playing) had means of testing nearly every component or feature that was added. DayZ does not. Presently, 90% of the population test 5% (running around, inventory, getting killed, respawning) of the game. Indeed, I pulled that figure out of my ass, but I'd bet money it's fairly accurate. The problem with so many whiners, is that DayZ, in all its hardcore difficulty, glitchy glory, is emulating how the game will eventually be intended to play, forcing people to get all angsty about problems they will encounter. I get pissed, only because I am legitimately testing all I can, only to have hours of time building up a character (to actually be able to actively test) wasted on some insane bug. I am not mad because of a sense of entitlement to a stable-ish game - I am mad because I'm volunteering my time to try and help make DayZ better, and I'll likely get curb-stomped for it. My point is, this is an alpha test, bound for many global wipes, so why not give us the ability to actually test items and features that only <10% of the population can manage to even reach? Think of it. The way things are right now (more ass-found figures), only the top 2-5% can actually test NVGs (read: test, not just play with), 20% can test vehicles, and so on. Especially after the latest hotfixes, people now just commonly die within minutes, much less spend the hours/days trying to meagerly survive, unable to actually test things. Yes, people should test the hardcore survival aspect of the game. I love testing it. How is anything else ever going to be tested? Other alphas, and even betas, give you tools to modify your char, spawn items, etc. to create/test scenarios that will be encountered in the live/production state of the game. Obviously, these perks won't be carried over, but at least now you can give everyone the chance to test everything, and find all the bugs they otherwise cannot, and don't get found until it's way too late. Solid example: I should be able to spawn a rangefinder, and make myself invincible, so I can test zombie aggro, tell the ingame range, and make notes. Instead, I have to care about wasting hours of play-test time to simply get to that position. In closing, DayZ is not yet at the point where people should get butthurt about character power, or egos over items, deaths, kills, etc. It is in too raw of a condition to be so difficult to be allowed to test.

Seriously what happened Rocket?
carlitobrigante replied to robersdee's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i dont care for the original post, but i agree recent patches have dulled the expierience for me, and im not longer playing it as much. since the bandit skin change ive found each patch have made it closer to a chore for a solo player. A few times ive linked up with other players but a connection error or an untimely death has cut it short. oh and the recent thread i read about people setting up bases in the off map wilderness, and storing vehicles theres, shame on you, rocket i hope you have denounced this, i was wondering despite playing it for over a month now im yet to see a vehicle. -
You sum it up nicely when you say "Honestly, there is nothing to do except promote your combat efficiency and test your skills/gear on other players. " I started off just trying to survive the zed. Once you get the hang of it though, it's pretty easy. Even in the latest patch. I 've gotten vehicles a few times but they're hard to keep when you log out. So that just leaves pvp. And nothing else in the game beats the thrill of it.

Seperate Stable and Testing Builds...
kriegar69@gmail.com replied to duddbudda's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I hate it when people look at a criticism and just start shouting "ITS AN ALPHA TEST", all i have to say to you people is stop being fucking morons, if we didnt criticise then that defeats the point of an alpha, if they didnt want criticism then they wouldnt have released it to the public till it was finnished... on a side note i completely agree, they should have two seperate downloads for stable and testing builds and that way people can choose what they want to play instead of grinding for the best guns and vehicles for a new patch to come out a couple of days later and mess shit up. ... and yes there will be some whining kid that will reply to this saying "what do you expect when you play an alpha", well fuck you very much because people dont play this like an alpha and some of the patches were relativley stable untill they started adding new content that made it more buggy instead of fixing the existing bugs. This is why they need a stable version in which they fix bugs on and a testing version in which they add the latest features on to see how they work, then when they are stable it can be added to the stable version and so on. -
There was like 4 server resets in a row the other day on a server I was on and each time we spawned back near our saved vehicle. Each time we drove around the fields near Stary and NW and looted every helo we saw. We now have quite a bit of gear and are willing to trade some "extras". UP FOR TRADE: 2x M249 (4 boxes) 1x DMR (you find your own ammo) 1x FN FAL ANPVS4 (2 mags) 1x NVG 1x M14 AIM (you find your own ammo) 1x AS50 (5 mags) (we will trade this away only for an L85) 2x Silenced Bizon (3 mags, 64 rounds per mag) LOOKING FOR M4 SD's Rangefinder L85 AS50 MK48 Please private message me if you wish to trade. We will discuss through private message when and where to trade. We will both be on skype during the trade. Trade will work like this. First you must have a vehicle for this method, we will not trade any other way. We will both drive to an undisclosed location where we can both see each others vehicles. Everyone who will accompany you AND I will be provided the names of through skype. We will be playing on a name tag server. Anyone spotted not of the correct names WILL BE SHOT ON SIGHT. It will also be agreed upon that even though against the "rules" each party is OK with logging out immediately when fired upon. We will fill each vehicle with the gear we are willing to trade and ONLY that gear. At this point an unarmed man from each side will cross the field and at the same time enter the other teams vehicles. At this point the 2 teams will back off 150 m. Once that has been done and ONLY at this point will the drivers on both sides will drive past each other to the proper parties and gear for the trade will be collected. At this point if you want your vehicle back or we do, the vehicles will be driven back by the same unarmed persons and we will log immediately. Good Dealings. EDIT: Someone brought to my attention a flaw.... that finding a server where we have one of our stashed vehicles PLUS the other party having one is pretty hard..... SO we will use backpacks instead. Alice, Czech, Cyote, your CHOICE. The trade will now be done with backpack. The "mules" MUST be unarmed with their only weapons being in the backpacks.

Yea. They might be locking them to be able to salvage their vehicles. It is forbidden.

Question pertaining to new patch 1.7.1.4
Shroom replied to Zederok's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You will have to revert to older version of code to be able to properly play on servers running that code. You may be able to play with the wrong code, but be warned, things you don't want to happen will happen. Glitches will be abound, and you will not have a fun time playing the game. Sound will likely not work, and you'll get a constant message blacking out your screen informing you that you're running the wrong files. If any other files have been updated, such as equip, weapons, vehicles, etc., you will need to revert those as well. Best pick a server and stick to it, or keep different version of the files in your addon folder and overwrite as necessary if you want to join a server running different files. -
Myself and some friends had been playing on NY 7 and 8 for a while until a rapid influx of nuking hackers deemed it necessary to give those servers regular visits, so just before the big update we moved over to NY 13 and NY 14, only to find them shut down and nowhere to be found for the next few days. I just saw them pop back up today still running 1.7.1.1... only they are password locked. I heard somewhere that this was not allowed? Regardless, what's the point of hosting a server if nobody can play on them, really? Does the admin want to pin down the vehicles for himself before he allows pubs to join? I'm not trying to make any insinuations, just wondering what the hell is going on (and if we will ever have our new camps back online). Thanks. This thread can be deleted. It looks like they have removed the password lock, and are only locking it and letting people in at bursts.

Heartbeating is almost like wallhack
ytman18@gmail.com replied to klytuko's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Its artificial to NOT be able to read any form of body language. Beyond that its also artificial to be able to realize; "This is a game' date=' I'm just killing a few hours of a person's time, or stealing some good loot." Yes, you aren't traumatized by any act of murder, yes you can step back and act as if its a completely normal course of action. Beyond that you also have NO FEAR of anyone 'seeing your murder' and being able to recognize you the next day/time you are seen. Too many social aspects are NOT represented in our artificial apocalypse. If you kill someone and I see you. How will I recognize you later if there is little physical variation of people? Why do you hide your identity behind your toon's anonymity? How do you know you weren't witnessed? You don't. Assume you were. Agreed. There is no rule about being/not being a bandit. The bandit who stalks Cherno murdering people? He'd be renowned. Wether it'd be myth, legened, lore, w/e that small fractured society that exists after the end would continue to talk of his deeds. When that bandit says; "Waaah people hate me now and don't want to team up with me!" I lol. Own up brah. You decided to be the Boogey Monster. If you hear the heartbeat... well that bandit is doing something WRONG. You should be dead before you hear that. Basically, if you are a bandit you've ostracized yourself from majority of the populace. Deal. ??? Nah. Its actually very hard to keep a high negative humanity unless you are actively hunting people down. With the bandit skin it was bad. But the heart beat? Just don't get close to people and avoid anyone who you don't know till you burn off your negative humanity. :P Without the skins people were complaining about shooting on sight anyways. The mentality was, "Better him than I". Now with the Heart Beat mechanic there is a little more tangible reason to trust people. Always go for the kill. The game is full of ENFORCEMENT. You need: water food medicine to keep warm to be smart to be quiet to have street smarts to be good with a gun to repair vehicles to look for supplies Now, if you want a chance to be social with other players, you need to not make a 'name for yourself' by murdering everyone you see. Hell you can murder everyone you see but just position yourself in a place where you don't see a ton of people per play time (humanity ticks down relatively fast). -
The Potential Problematic Future of DayZ Server Hosting
Downside replied to Ilumination's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I emailed the staff to get approved of my new server, I also posted the reserve slot option to them not for friends or clan mates, but for admins who will help run my server correct. If the server slot is 40 but I have 5 admins already picked out for my reserve slots then my server would be and look like 35 slots to the public. So 5 admins could always get in, it wouldn't ever kick anyone because those 5 slots aren't part of the public slots. There are only 5 admins and 5 reserve slots. Also with global chat now turned off I think players trying to get admins mad at them with trolling or just being rude wont be a problem anymore. I still would like to ability to kick players if they are hacking and not get my server removed from the hive if they come here crying. But mainly I want to run a clean stable server that players can always come to their saved stuff like tents, vehicles and also play with a group of people. As a Admin I plan on playing my own server, its the only way to really see how smooth everything is going. -
Thinking about renting a server for DayZ
biorage replied to Sykotron's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
How it's setup currently is your doing DayZ more of a favour than yourself, by offering your $ to host a server. Yes you have the ability to Ban / Kick, and the biggest motivator is to have a place called "Home" for you and your friends. However the rules are strict, you cannot spawn items/vehicles, nor can you ban or kick for slots, as Blasty Stated. -
First. Read Alfie's post on why server's are locked while briefing (aka launching) Second. AQ doesn't use our UK5 server. We use UK9 only last I checked. Third. If we wanted to get vehicles we would get our member in then lock it. If you check it, normally when the server locks the person in isn't even AQ. It's just the first person that joined teh server after the restart. Fourth. Be informed before making posts about subjects you clearly are not informed about.

Actually been a more then a few servers been locked for awhile. How does one "fast grab vehicles" when the server is on debrief and hasn't even started the game? Please' date=' do elaborate. Wait, where the hell are there vehicles to fast grab anyway? [/quote'] Everyone knows the vehicles was reset. Plenty of reason for people to lock servers to find spawns.

US 28 Chicago 22/US 27 Chicago 21 Locked
cik replied to n_nussbaum@hotmail.com's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Confirmed....and US 4....what gives? Trying to retrieve their vehicles while locking the community out? -
I am the Lead Administrator of UK5. The server is sometimes locked while loading up to prevent 50 players from joining at once (like today). The simple fact is if too many players join whilst the server loads up, then the server will prioritize the loading of Players over Tents and Vehicles. This results in some tents / vehicles "disappearing". They are still there (because they're saved in the database in the relative instance), but the scripts that are tasked to load them from the database don't fully complete. That is why the server was locked/unlocked intermittently. Either servers lock as they start up the game, or you'll be making another thread with a story about how an abusive Admin of UK5 deleted your tents and vehicles.. Zzzzzz.. This is common and well known practice, and it is allowed. If you actually see a server locked for more then a few minutes, then feel free to report it.
