With the new update apparantly rolling out mass fortification and such, this seems more plausible actually, especially if you use Helo's to scout the area every so often, or don't announce your trading stations location and guide people in with vehicles. -
Ok I know there has been a lot of thread already on spawn points for vehicles, but I can't seem to ever see one. For exemple, I went to the spot near the Hotel in Cherno on about 4 different servers and could never see any car or truck that I could enter. I did the same thing by going on the road to the west of Elektro (there is supposed to be 2 cars on the way between cherno and elektro) and went on 3 different server. Still nothing. Is there any trick to catch one or am I just extremely unlucky and each time someone already took it?

You actually can script vehicles to be un-enterable. In fact, many vanilla missions already do this. This could work I think.

Agreed with all points also I suggest: 1: Bikes with reduced noise (there was a topic about this but got erased) 2: vehicles and tents out of map auto destruct after a set amount of time (say 6-8 hours) as being out of map is retarded. 3: Uparmoring vehicles (mad max style) using scrap metal, with the extra weight taking up storage space and or increasing fuel consumption (not applicable on bikes, motercycles, helis and boats). -

This got deleted in the forum rollback today, but fortunately it was the last thing I had ctrl+c'ed. For starters, I'd like to give a big thank you to the dev team for finally implementing land vehicles on all the servers. The game is even more fun than it already was, and having a goal like vehicles has really helpedpeople form groups and to stop deathmatching quite so much (and it has worked much more so than any of the damn carebears' heretofore suggestions). Anyways, I have a lot of mostly related ideas regarding vehicle spawns, along with my rationale behind them: 1) Make vehicle spawn locations much more random. This would incentivize people to form groups to search diligently for the vehicles of their choice, rather that simply running to Rog castle/NWAF/wherever for a chopper the moment the server gets set up. It would also remove an unfair advantage that it seems (though I cannot personally confirm) many server admins and their buddies have been exploiting by getting the jump on these vehicle spawns. 2) On vehicle destruction, have vehicles respawn in a completely random place, as above. At least the way things seem now, vehicles go back to whatever location they were last saved at after destruction. 3) Have all vehicles despawn after X number of days without being used/actively saved. Note that I am not against the hoarding of vehicles by any means. The reason for this, rather, is for a situation such as where some random person/group goes on a server, finds a car, takes it out beyond the edge of the map after they've had their fun, and end up never coming back to that server again. This would essentially make the vehicle unavailable to anyone and everyone on the map, and that's just lame. Make it plenty long to not harm the hoarders (somewhere between 4 and 7 days seems long enough). 4) Remove the ability for helicopter radar to see vehicles that are broken, not running, or inside a building.It doesn't really make sense from a realism perspective, and I think it frankly gives people with helicopters too much power. They already have the best mobility, the best vision, etc., they don't need the added bonus of radar. 5) Fix the vehicle saving system so that it doesn't get eaten by server resets (not sure how much of this is hive side and how much is serverside). That is all. -

I don't know, but since (during?) the supposed hack we had discovered like 3 working vehicles randomly parked in a city. A tractor, ATV and a bike... Before that, we have never ever seen a single one O_o -

I have noticed odd behavior upon server restart than sometimes vehicles (and tents) do not immediately reappear or spawn. I would strongly suggest you return to the location of your vehicle and check again. I thought I had lost my off-road truck and two tents full of gear and I almost killed myself in the ensuing depression but instead decided to return to the site and check one last time. Lo-and-behold everything was there, intact and fully stocked. So, yeah. Double check before you make any rash decisions or judgements. -
2 ideas in one for you today. Idea 1: A lot of people are suggesting that we restrict characters to 1 server and 1 server only, that way there will be no more server hopping to low population servers to grab loot many times over. But the problem is that if a server goes down, or updates the requirements before you do, your character temporarily or permanently gone. I'm suggesting that a player can select 3 servers for his character to be on. While they can technically server hop, they aren't able to do it to the same degree, or control what population of the server they want to join. Tents and vehicles that are owned by the player can be mousewheeled to be moved to another server, and will be automatically if a server is restarted. Idea 2: For the "wildies" among us. Aside from the occasional deer stand, which are usually nearby towns anyway, there is little to no incentive to explore the path less trodden as far as loot is concerned. I think randomly spawning, but very rare, "poacher camps" which spawn deep inside the trees would be a good idea. These camps would contain a campfire, a bicycle, and an old tent. The old tent would contain medium rarity weapons, mainly military grade but older guns that aren't in active service (M16/FAL/M14 EB1/AKM/CZ550/M24), as well as beans/water/ammuntion but mainly meat. There may be 6-10 on a server at a time, so the chances of finding one are highly unlikely, but much more likely then a helicopter crash site. Opinions and thoughts?

After about a week of downtime, =HA= have switched server hosts and are back in action. Our new server is much faster, and now possesses vehicles! I would like it, but they wouldnt be able to drop weapons otherwise high tier loot would be too simple. Transport on the other end, would be nice. A slim chance there being vehicles though.

So I did a few forum searches and THEN I did a few google searches. Found no such list. Can anyone help me out with servers that are REGULAR difficulty and have vehicles enabled? The server I found a vehicle on (Chicago 34) is down and has been for the past full day :( so I need some new ones. Thanks in advance !! -

I posted this right before the forums drove off the cliff. This is re-written... I want to know if there are any technical consequences for leaving the map, and crossing the boarders of it. I specifically want to know if moving vehicles across the boarder, and camping out (Saving the vehicles) will be followed by the vehicles disappearing or perhaps my character dying. I've heard of helicopter pilots flying out past the map boarders and setting up an 'unreachable' base. But before I do this myself I just want to confirm that there's no technical issues with it. It's DayZ, I like my truck, and I'm paranoid. :D

Yes, vehicles and tents are server specific. Only what you're carrying on your body and in your pack is not.

I was wondering about how vehicles work on servers. Im pretty sure they are reliant to a specific server correct? As in say you remake a heli and switch servers it is no longer there?

it seems lot of admins are HEAVLY abusing their rights. Yesterday, on few servers, we killed full geared admins ( NvG, GPS ,M24 ,stuff like that ) ANY TIMES ( happened on 3 servers after we wiped the admins) immediatly after when we were looting we saw the message " No response from the server since X seconds" on one of the server ,the message was, immediatly after we killed the guys " You have been kicked out of the game" then (the last server was the DE14 if im not making mistakes) the admins LOCKED the servers for hours and hours (prolly to get vehicles and loot them /repair/regear as they want ) thats PATHETIC seeing people acting like that ,they shouldn't be able to own a server, i can understand it can be a coincidence one time, but not 3 times on 3 differents servers in less than 1 hour. Anyway, thanks for thoses admins who show we are kicking their ass by that kind of rage quit/ rage kick. No worries, we will pwn you again and again and again...and again and again

You have to scroll wheel and save tent or it won't save it. It only lasts I think 2 days, so you better keep saving it. They can't be stolen, but they can be completely looted, so if you put stuff in it, well, let's just say I've gotten some nice items out of them :). Tents, and vehicles, all are server specific. If you place one down, or drive a vehicle and save it, it will only be in that location on that specific server. -

Syrasa, try the DayZ SP (single player) champaign and see if it runs smooth for you. If you're thinking: what the hell this guy is saying, and how it's related to this thread; well, it's not related, but i found myself playing the SP quite often when i cannot play online (in example where there's too traffic on the servers..), it's a great way to elaborate your strategy, to try all the weapons (manual spawning), to see the zombie reactions, to try the vehicles, and to be prepared when you need to do this things online and fights those mofos. (for this pro-tip, please prepare me a sandwich) -

Okey so i saw this new update 1.60 so you know i updated it i downloaded the files and put em in my @Dayz Addons folder and everything seemed normal then i started the game you know just normal then a server but it was weird cus i came in to the servers lobbby then out to the normal again so i thought well just a fud up server and i tried again and again with random servers and it didnt work then i saw it said in the left corner can not Play/modify this mission or something like deleted files you know weapons vehicles sfx and stuff like that ;_; i dont know what to do please help :blush:
