  1. Hey. Im DeVynta, Just turned 15 in April. I have a teamspeak and of course, a mic. My talents include being able to think on my feet, im also very good at scavenging and sneaking around. Im not the best at straight up combat. I know alot of the ins and outs of DayZ, where to find the best loot, most secure places. I can also pilot helis and vehicles. But, I'm not a fun nazi, i like to joke around to. I feel working in a group is way more effective then anything else, I adapt from being a helpful guy who trust people too much, to a guys who if you back stab, will make sure you never touch a can of beans again. Anyways, looking forward to playing with you. -DeVynta
  2. Did restart returned all vehicles back to it's spawns today or not ? If not, maybe it should be done ? Seems like majority of vehicles were stolen by exploiters and cheaters - there are dozens of youtube videos with fuktards blowing up multiple stolen cars in forests while legit players cant find anything.

    Resuscitation

Hey all: I posted this idea in the 'revival paddles' thread, but I feel like it deserves a fresh open eye from the community rather than hidden away in a random post of a thread, so here it is. Well, I'm here and registered just now because this is one of the best ideas I've seen for the game so far coming from a non-developer. This game already is one of the most fun video games I have played in a long time, but referring to the original poster, I have to agree. This game needs SOME kind of resuscitation. THAT SAID.... I am a medic, and there are ways to do this without the usual "GIVE ME THE SHOCK PADDLES" as stated before usually in games like Battlefield 3. I feel like this game should use a painful, drawn out process as the original poster stated as well. In the field, there are better ways than a two click process to resuscitate someone in hemorrhagic shock. I believe you should need a drawn out process, taking 7-10 steps to completely resuscitate someone. I believe once down, there can be a 5 minute window from the second he hits the floor to when there is a blood pack AND high flow oxygen hooked up to him(explained later). Once you are at the blood pack (part one) the timer stops unless he bleeds out to zero again, then it starts again, but this time, you have two minutes instead of five to get more blood into his system. ALSO , it should DEPEND on how the player died. If they were mauled/eaten alive by zombies, it should require (not going into details of drug names) antibiotics via IV Therapy extra on top of everything. If they were shot multiple times, it should require extra bandgaes, like 5 to stop the player from bleeding once you start giving him saline/blood. So, sample steps should be like the following: GUNSHOTS/FALLS/TRAUMA: 1) Combitube/Intubation (for airway control) (2 slot item) 2) High flow oxygen via intubation with bag valve mask. (spawn together, take up two slots) 3) Blood pack (#1). He will continue to bleed out until you bandage (after this step) 4) 5 Bandages. (One bandage is not enough to stop multi point trauma wounds. 5) If the bleeding is stopped below 8000 HP from the first blood pack, you will need to administer another blood pack(#2) before continuing. 6) 2 Occlusive bandages (People generally get shot in the chest, it stops your lungs from collapsing for an open chest wound) 7)Antibiotic IV therapy (similar to use of a blood pack) 8) 1 Morphine 9) Patient is stabilized. I think that a player should now get the incapacitated timer, set for 30 minutes. I know, long time, but this would be a sacrifice anyone would make, especially if you're part of a team. they can still drag you into the woods, or into a building and overwatch you. This would give your body time to stabilize ( no where close to real life , obviously) This would make your team vulnerable and make them react to keep you alive. I know a few times I died from something stupid and it woudl have been nice to have a buddy pick me up and say "seeya in 30" rather than "Have fun walking back and probably getting shot." When the player is up, he will have to take pain killers every 30 minutes for the first hour to stop getting the jitters. (or at least once). THAT said. This system would generally take up a LOT of space (15), I know. But as stated before, having MULTIPLE ITEMS and a TEDIOUS process will make this need to have the designated 'Doc' on your team that is there to help when someone goes down. The meticulous process would also engage player more than (give epi-pen) when they're onconcious and boom, they're awake, Or just a small window to shock once and they're ready to go. I feel like that would be a little more sacrificial for supplies, and keep the balance of the game in tact. Even if you are with a single friend, just carry the stuff in your pack.. if one of you goes down, you can both pull supplies out as needed to patch eachother up, same with bigger teams. it just encourages watching your buddy's back more, and if he gets that one server hopper (happened to my friend last night) that logs into a stary sobor tent as he walks by it and gets blasted in the back, you both don't have to spend a long time regrouping. Yes, he'll be on the floor next to you, but you'll have the chance to save all of his things and get his limp body to safety. If a system like this went into affect, it'd be nice to be able to not only drag bodies, but get them into vehicles (only unconscious/stabilized) and taken out. That way you can (if your team has the resources) get them to a greater safe place to recuperate. I know I went into a lot of detail of my off-chart version of the original poster, but let me know what you think about this kind of system for resuscitation. I didn't throw in the 'downed by zombie' steps but it would be different in my opinion. Thoughts? Thanks for reading. -Purgatory

    The definitive VEHICLE SPAWNS thread

How many vehicles can a server spawn? Like, if someone grabs the motorcycle at Berezino, is it gone forever? Will it respawn if the server is restarted (a normal restart, to clear lag)? Will it respawn if it gets destroyed? Will it respawn if a certain amount of time passes, but someone still has the first one?
  6. I don't think I'm alone when I say that I don't want to have to walk for 4 hours off of the map to discover the location of someone's camp. It isn't fair or realistic that a clan can get all of the vehicles on a server, drive them north for a while, and make them nearly unattainable to the rest of the players on the server who are stuck on foot. Some invisible walls would solve this problem.
  7. No problem. Some form of prevention may be in the works, so always keep an eye on the latest patch notes. I'd hate to see your camp to disappear overnight. :O As long as you're actively driving your vehicles on the map I can't be too upset with your methods. Vehicles are meant to be driven, not stowed away 30km off map, after all.
  8. All the servers went down just a bit ago. Ours came back up. All our vehicles and tents have disappeared. Any news?
  9. You are butthurt. You would not have replied if you were not butthurt. I was excited to share my story of getting lucky with loot by coming across a whole group of scrubs but I guess that isn't the case. I'm not angry at losing some bright white truck. Vehicles like that are magnets for retards. We were actually planning on blowing it up but we did not have any explosives at the time. I came up with two solutions before someone stole it while Zelgaden was logging on. 1. Use it as bait by sitting it out in the middle of a field and sniping anyone who gets near it. 2. Blow it up since a white truck is basically worthless considering we move quickly across the map. We both have ghillies. We are unseen.

    Australian Servers

Which servers specifically are bad? If you go on the forums for several of the main ANZ providers, many don't know what they're doing, and admins are not actively playing the game, or around often to respond to issues, nor do they bother to read DayZ forums to know what's going on. AusArmA is run by players, and we have over a half a dozen admins hanging around on TS3 that can be easily reached when problems arise. We also have largest gathering of players in TS3 for DayZ in the region. We have had our fair share of issues and woes with DayZ too though. AFAIK, we run the same if not better hardware then the other ANZ hosts. Bandwidth has also never been an issue for us. Gigabit Ethernet is pointless as DayZ will never use it. Distance to Hive would have an effect, but I suspect it's very minor. We get about 160ms to Hive, as it's based in the US. Each player only sends a few byte of data to and from Hive every 30 seconds or so anyway, so it shouldn't make much difference at all. When ANZ1-4 have issues, it's usually resolved in a few minutes, maybe 30 minutes if it takes players a while to advise us. Vehicles and tents are spawning fine, etc. We don't have our servers bugged or down for hours or days at a time, and are first to update our servers as they come out, and not several days later. ANZ1 = +10 GMT ANZ2 - Beta required. +10 GMT ANZ3 = -2 GMT ANZ4 = Beta required, -2 GMT Several other ANZ hosts also have the time offset so you can play in daylight when you get home late from work/studies.
  11. I really have a hard time understanding why hackers would do this server wide nuking shit.. Hack gear? Hack vehicles? I can sort of understand, even though it ruins the game for other people at least the hacker would be having fun I guess.. But nuking the server and just completely fucking ruining it for everyone and not even having fun yourself? It's like.. do they have some kind of grudge against DayZ for some unknown reason? Do they want to completely ruin the mod and have no one play it? :\

    More vehicles but less parts

Vehicles are rare, the parts are everywhere. Am I the only one who thinks this is backwards? Shouldn't broken down vehicles be all over the place? The people turned into zombies, so where did all their cars go? I think it would benefit the mod if there was an abundance of vehicles around the towns/cities. BUT!! make the parts very rare. Things like tires, scrap metal, & jerry cans should be semi-rare, maybe a bit less chance of spawning, but still found in most places. On the other hand, fuel tank parts and engine parts should be extremely rare, like on par with GPS/NVGs/etc. And you could only find those parts in gas stations and industrial areas. This would make it more difficult to get car parts, but easier to get a working car once you've obtained those rare parts. Also, it would be easier to stash a working car in a built up area, because there would be other cars sitting around. Another advantage of having more vehicles on the map is the containers. A survivor could use a car as a base for scavenging, dropping all his extra loot into it while he goes out and gets more, or searches for those rare parts to get it going. Which this means more possible places for us to find loot. The downsides I see are server load and hackers. Obviously more cars means more load on the servers, and since there are ways to dupe items, people could get a bunch of cars going from just one part. But, I don't think it's such a huge problem considering it's also possible to just spawn in items and vehicles already.

    3rd Base in 1 week

Kobra, as I said in my thread, vehicles are never permanently gone and they just temporarily disappear sometimes for a few restarts/crashes. All of your vehicles are still probably where you left them. Never once have I had a vehicle permanently disappear due to server resetting/crashing, I've had some disappear for up to 12 hours but they always come back.

    When are helicopters coming back?

I recently saw the E3 interview with Rocket - from memory vehicles have been enabled on only 50 or so servers out of the many that are out there. Apparently there are 'issues' with them.

    3rd Base in 1 week

Servers sometimes temporarily eat vehicles and tents, but they always come back after one or two resets.
  16. Thanks for the answer Salty. I kind of get where you are coming from but then on the other hand, I feel like until Rocket adds something like camo nets/camo paint (or perhaps allow us to use the hatchet to chop down tree branches and such to place over them?) for parked vehicles to hide them better that something like this is kind of necessary if we want to keep our hard earned vehicles safe. It is basically completely impossible to keep the vehicles safe on the current map because of how good people are now at finding bases - I've met people who have every decent tree clump that you can park vehicles in on the map basically memorised and find vehicles quite reguarly.. there is people who do grid searches with clans all across the northern/western parts of the map just to find bases and because of this it is almost pointless to keep vehicles because of how quickly they can be stolen. The game goes for realism and in real life in a situation where I would want to hide a vehicle, it would be completely hidden from view and have tree branches and such all over it.. unfortunately we can't do that in DayZ though.. not yet.

    3rd Base in 1 week

All I know is that there seem to be no vehicles available in any servers. Presumably because clans have swarmed in and scooped them all up.

    3rd Base in 1 week

If they aren't saving the vehicles when they park them - then they will reset back to the last known save point. However we have crashed a Hilux - it exploded. Went about our business for a couple of hours, the server restarts and the Hilux is back where it exploded - only not exploded anymore. Vehicles are weird yo'
  19. Hey Kobra, I've actually never even once lost a vehicle permanently to server resets/crashes and I've owned over 10+ vehicles for an extended amount of time in DayZ What I have found is that sometimes after a crash/reset, all vehicles (more likely) or a specific vehicle (seems to happen lots with trucks) will not spawn. But that does not mean they are gone. They do indeed come back, usually next reset/crash but sometimes it has taken up to 3. I've never experienced a server actually "eating" a car permanently even once, so go check where you had vehicles disappear before and you might be surprised to find them again.
  20. Hey, good question, me and my buddies are always moving bases etc because we lose vehicles due to server reset, so I personally wouldnt go out that far because lets face it, those cars wont be there for long to help you. so you wont go out to the tents much once you have lost the cars which makes that base unreachable. just my 2 cents but also if you are looking to team up with 3-6 moore trust worthy guys then add me on steam kushaholic
  21. Me and the rest of my clan are looking for a perfect spot to save our vehicles and possibly tents if we run out of room, but the thing is that a perfect spot on this map simply does not exist, there is always a chance someone will find it. If we ride a huge way out of the map into where no grass or trees load, will our vehicles and tents save properly? I'm talking 10-30km out of the map. Any info would be appreciated

    Help to configure server

You can't configure any of that. There might be some special steps you have to take to get vehicles to spawn, but I'm not completely sure about that anymore.

    DayZ Stories

We were cruising down the road last night, minding our own business when out of nowhere, two dudes on an ATV came directly at us at full speed. They must have noticed us at the same time we did them, both vehicles swerved to the left and we hit each other head on! They bailed and started shooting as we drove off so we parked up the road behind a house and apologised in the side chat. Apparently we completely busted up their ATV (the old pedo van was still in mint condition) and they were furious. Haha poor bastards, they managed to fix it up though and were back on the road within an hour or so. Such a funny moment which couldve ended badly. Glad they were friendly enough to have a laugh in the chat with us afterwards. Wish I had it recorded!
  24. Vehicles and tents can disappear if a server is restarted incorrectly. In fact, they can disappear if you DO restart the server correctly. People are so quick to cry and point fingers in this community.
  25. I also heard that vehicles (All vehicles, even land), were only enabled on a portion of the servers, not all of them. Not sure if this is accurate or not but it came from a pretty reliable source.
