Justification for our group tactic: *Sniper team: LR support (before operation starts, check surrounding woods for enemies.) 1 Sniper w/ DMR -exactly what you think 1 spotter w/ rangefinder, automatic/SD weapon(for close combat)/launcher -spot/range targets, take out vehicles, protect sniper Sniper-"See that guy by the ACT?" Spotter-"Yea, you got about 900m to him" Sniper-"Alright, firing" *bang* Spotter-"Alright, he's down. See those zeds by the door?" Sniper-" What about 'em?" Spotter-"Smoke 2 needs em gone" *bang*...*bang* Sniper-"Done" Infil team: main looters (loot, try and stay undetected) 1 Pointman w/silenced weapon -job is to silently clear the path ahead of zeds/unsuspecting players 1 supporter w/automatic weapon/shotgun -job is to help fend of zeds/players if detected, extra firepower Support team: Backup (Come to rescue Infil team if large groups of zeds/small group of players are alerted) 1 heavy w/M240, launcher -take out large crowds or vehicles 1 medic w/ AR -extra gun, carries medical supplies to heal injured teammates. Heli team: (extra support/rescue for when shit hits the fan:huge zombie hordes, large enemy group, etc.) 1 pilot w/ basic weaponry -pilots the chopper 2 door gunners w/ basic weaponry -fire door guns to defend chopper/support ground troops. With this configuration, an attacking force, be it zed or human, can only injure/kill 1-2 of us before we are alerted to their presence.

We raided a camp that had multiple vehicles stored. We died shortly after but it was great fun.

The definitive VEHICLE SPAWNS thread
[email protected] replied to MR DELICIOUS's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hide in the woods no? THAAAT hard to realize it ? Hide in the woods AND NOT 20km off the map, no? THAAAT hard to realize it ? Hiding vehicles WAY off the edge of the map is almost a necessity at this point due to all the douche-nozzles using ESP hacks to find everyone's camps. Until BattlEye actually does something other than provide a false sense of security, I don't see why people shouldn't be allowed to keep vehicles off the map. -
So, i've been adding loads of vehicle spawns to this Wiki that i've used; http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Vehicles_and_Aircraft And yes, they ARE right. No one else has been updating this, so I took the liberty to add them to help out everyone. I didn't think many players had actually read this wiki and used it to find any vehicles until this; He mentions that "The Wiki was right!" and I had actually added the Bicycle spawn location recently after a friend found it after we were searching for fuel for a bus from Cherno. Keep watching this Wiki page for updates, because i'll be adding loads of them. ;)

Shooting everything you see isn't realistic...
ZedsDeadBaby replied to MperorM's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Patience is part of skill. Just as a skilled F1 driver exercises patience in waiting for an opportunity to pass' date=' or a skilled soccer player exercises patience looking for an opening in the goal. Other measures of skill are tactics, communication, an understanding of your weapon, good aim, knowledge of the terrain and an intuitive understanding of human behavior to predict your opponent's actions before they occur. That's true. It's not what I do, but it's true. But that's not how I've survived for 18 days and 50+ hours in game. I own ~11 vehicles on two different servers, a network of fully-stocked tents (legitimately found) scattered across the map and well hidden. This takes skill as well - using the terrain and a knowledge of travel behaviors to choose tent locations that are not discovered. I have in my possession one of every gun in the game at his point except for the Camo SVD. I take chances in the game. lots of them. I survive because I play more skillfully than other people. To deny that this game requires skill is just folly. Whatever your goal, you have to be alive to accomplish it. Surviving is the universal goal. If you choose to do that in a boring way, that's okay. It requires less skill than surviving while doing exciting things, but that's your call. Just because people can choose NOT to use their skills doesn't mean the game has no measure of skill. -
How to tell when a new server comes up?
treshold82 replied to stinkyghost's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
One good point in new server is that nobody has hoarded/stashed vehicles...yet... -
Hacked Vehicles are not shown under the Day Z Wiki http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Vehicles
-
Thanks. As for hoarding, well there are many clans that have 10+ vehicles and the fact that new dont spawn 99% of players are left without cars, while clans have tens of them.....

Shooting everything you see isn't realistic...

Guess what' date=' these threads will continue, if you are able to think logically even for a slightest bit, you would understand why. [/quote'] Oh this is wonderful. First of all just because you are going to bitch about something because you suck at arma two and cant seem to kill someone with your little axe because thats all you find that isnt our problem. Dont come to forums to bitch about it. He has a point though, if you want to go for a realistic experience, the deathmatching is bullshit. As is the circumventing of permadeath with tents and/or vehicles. It all depends on what you like the game to deliver in the end. Besides, there is no way to suck at dayZ, since there is little skill involved. You only need to get used to the controls and be patient enough to avoid risks and you can get everything you want. Its great though, since I finally have something to play with my RL friends who would never put in the practice time needed for competitive gaming. The controls are glitched in a way that real competition would be hardly possible anyway. You'll probably rather see Angry Birds played at WCG before they even think about picking up Dayz or Arma. It's only bullshit because you call it deathmatching. That's fine if you see it that way, but it's not anything like a deathmatch. It's about survival, not score. If I kill you, you won't kill me, thus i've increased my chances of survival. It's very simple logic. Not killing you drastically increases my chances of dying to you. Killing you reduces that chance to %0. Deathmatching in other games is not necessarily about the score either, it can be played for fun, or for warmup. In CS i even unbind the scoreboard in deathmatch, so scores won't distract me from practicing properly. Your logic of killing just to survive doesn't work out completely either, because if you kill me I can respawn, grab an M16 from my tent and/or tell my friends to hunt you down. So killing someone doesn't always lower the chance to get killed, it may aswell increase it. Avoiding any contact is obviously the best way to survive, and it could easily be done by anyone, but its dead boring to most, thats why people prefer to play deathmatch style instead. -
It depends. If you parked your car in cherno and that car wasn't originally from cherno then a car from cherno could spawn anytime. But if you have that car running and saved then only when that car gets destroyed or left alone for seven days then dose a new vehicle spawns I don't have an exact time frame. Now as for you saying us server admins are hording vehicles and everything with our friends. You sir a pathetic waste of time who that the fact that i wasted my time to help should tell you something about server admins now shouldn't?

cars dissapear when hive didnt start proparly. tents + vehicles dissapear and the server need a second restart. so I guess your car when the server have been restarted.

Because I have absolutely no idea where you will end up. I don't know for sure that you aren't aware of me. You could very well be trying to circle around behind me for the kill. There's a lot of uncertainty, and I don't like uncertainty that I can avoid. -

So far I could drive all vehicles with WASDA. If you get in the drivers seat, you need to check the top left part of the screen, it will tell you if you have gas, and what parts may need repair. Parts that are ok are green.

Something tells me this guy isn't the one who is going to be the one who just wants to trade, but ends up getting shot. He's asking what people will bring him essentially, so he can kill them when they bring it to him. Noone would be stupid enough to risk NVG's or vehicles to "Trade".

Deny saving tents/vehicles outside of map.
TheProphecy replied to Paah (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
LOL at people trying to defend this. They are obviously the clowns with tents and vehicles outside the map right now. Hiding shit outside the map is a pussy move, period. My group came across some vehicles over the last few days. We tried hiding them in the map, they wound up getting taken. Of course it sucks, but such is life in the zone. You can't expect to live forever, so why does it make any sense to find a car and have it in your possession for a month? Grow some balls, put your shit in the map and if you're so scared about it getting taken, you're already breaking the golden rule of dayz (not getting attached to your items). Since you're that scared, post sentries to watch your camp at all times. You guys obviously have a sickening level of determination in order to not only find a spot way off outside the map, but walk to it multiple times everyday. -
Just stop now Roboserg, you are doing yourself no favours. Think about it, If a vehicle spawned at location X, someone takes the vehicle. server restarts and another vehicle spawns in exactly the same location, if that happened on every server for every vehicle spawn in Dayz there would be more vehicles than players.
-
why? just crawl even if you guys place hundreds of traps around your tents/vehicles I will still get to it! since you can only break my bones once!
-
Yeah, it's so unfair that the person paying to run the server knows where the vehicles are, and you're right that they're all assholes who're just going to horde them with their friends that you don't even know but who must of course be pathetic. GG?

Want to start a squad of elite players?
richard_b replied to banned's topic in New Player Discussion
I guess I could join if you guys have TS3. Tell me a bit about your group. You guys got vehicles, a camp? What kind of comms do you use? Anything I should know? -
hey guys was your camp the one that was mostly west and slightly south of zelenogorsk? if so, we stumbled on that while combing the map edges for camps  since i think you might have been in the camo military offroad near the same place shortly after (which we failed gloriously to destroy even with an extreme upper hand) and you were running dark, i presume you know how we could see in the dark i promise you we don't use any hacks at all, just play way too much. however, there are hackers on our server. our camp got hit by some guys that spawned in some silly vehicles, such as a bicycle that goes 70kmph and accelerates instantly if you experience stuff like that and can get me a name, i can talk to the admin and he'll get the guid. we've already banned a couple obvious hackers and US74 has already banned a lot of script kiddies that don't get that they're banned (try to reconnect 10 times a night~). message me on steam (Dirty Protagonist) any time thanks and see you in the field :shy:
-
I got a lift from a guy on an ATV from Kamenka heading North to NW Airfield. We saw a vehicle in some trees west of Zelengorsk and stopped. I threw a grenade at the vehicles and the guys combat logged out. I heard choppers but didnt see any. Are they back ingame now? Lewis don't use my name in vain as an attempt to muddy it. I don't hack or exploit Lewis as you know. We kicked you out of [83rd] because you kept combat logging ingame. If that is the reason you try and associate me with an alleged hacker then shame on you. I've been gaming since 2003 and have never hacked or exploited.
-
I am the head admin of US74. Based on the description of what was taken and the timeline, I am pretty sure it was the group I play with that raided your camp. And man did you have a ton of stuff. Our biggest issue was figuring out what to take. As far as hackers, we did believe we did have a hacker on yesterday and we asked the dayz admins to confirm if the helicopters where back in game, but we never heard anything back so we banned the person. I know no one in our group hacks, because if they did, they would be banned and removed from all activities we do as we play across multiple games. It doesn't take ESP to find camps or work in the dark. Camps are easy to find, especially with a group. We are very proficient at putting in night time work and is actually the preferred time for many of us. I am not here to give away intelligence gathering secrets, so I'll leave it to you to figure it out :) Ironically, in the span of 48 hours, we raided a camp with 3 vehicles, then we lost all of the vehicles and our own camp, then found your camp and are set again. Gotta love this game lol I commend you on your groups organization. I encourage you to keep it up and stick around. We are a friendly bunch... in a zombie survival, I want your stuff kind of way.... We don't server hop and take people stuff to other servers to avoid conflict. We are here to stay and want to encourage others to do the same. So hopefully we will have the chance to shoot you later :p
