Please explain me how often do vehicles spawn ? Helis, cars, buses ? I heard its 7 days AFTER the vehicle destroyed right ? So if you park away ALL the vehicles new ones will NOT spawn ? How often does loot spawn ? How does it work exactly? Near players, far from players, how ?
-
If I remember correctly, if the vehicle has been inactive for 7 days, it will reset. If not, then well...it stays off bounds. 7 Days is more than enough time for people hoarding vehicles off map to save location, even IF they die.

I have never found any vehicles. But I've seen a bicycle, was pretty fun. Anyways I got a question related to this topic. Can I repair the rusty cars and broken down cars which are not so hard to find? I know that wheels, engine parts etc requires a lot of bagspace.

Yes. I joined a server and while looking for one at the normal hotspot( below stary sober) i found one, sadly it was already found so nothing special. When i was leaving the server crashed. I then join another server and once i spawned in i did my usual observation to see if anyone was around me or if any heli/ vehicles are spawned, to my amazement there was another crashed heli like 300 metres away. Went to it and found an as 50, m249 and the ammo box( the lower caliber one) Took the as 50. If you know were to look you will defiantly find one, just be a little patient and keep your eyes open. Also like a 2 mile radius below stary sober from East, South and West is the hotspot. Found in total 8 heli crashes out of the 11 i found in this patch!!

For 1 week now me and my 2 friends have been exploring Chernarus by foot. We went from Cherno to Berezino to NWA etc. A new friend of ours starts playing and on his first life finds a car thats fully working and has full gear. We were shocked. Not only that, after driving around we find a pickup. We now have 2 vehicles and we're hoping to find a helicopter soon.

Tent / Vehicle Storage
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
Now, does that mean I could effectively store 10 weapons, 50 gen, and 5 backpacks at the same time? Or like, 1 weapon and 40 generals. Or 3 weapons, 20~ generals and a backpack? etc etc. Thanks for all the info, explains why I suddenly couldn't pack the tent anymore in one of my previous lives. Bump + also, nobody answered if vehicles do indeed wipe their inventories upon server restarts. Can anyone confirm? -
Tent owner is the person who placed it, only they can pack it. http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Tent Vehicles are all different storage, saving saves their location. Iirc the server is restarted it will return to the last saved location iirc. http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Vehicles

Personally, my group has found a total of 6 vehicles in the past 9 days.. 1 bike, 2 atv, 1 bus, 2 jeeps (unsure of the name) and a GAZ. Its just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Scouting the edges of the map works aswell, as most players have their vehicles horded back there with their tents. We've only found 1 in their actual spawn location (an ATV). Your best bet is to just play the game normally, and wait until a player parks their car need a town to go loot, and while they loot take the car. As I said above, most 'clans' have their horde of cars on the edge or out of the map for their personal use, effectively out of gameplay, due to the largeness of the wasteland out of the map they can hide them in. If you are really desperate, just camp gas stations occasionally, they have to fill up sometime.
-
I personally wouldn't bother with vehicles tbh. The script kiddies are using a map hack that shows their location on their map, if you have one parked in camp expect to see a helicopter circling you shortly.

VEHICLE UPDATE (database side): 2012-06-16
Donkamints replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Are people really getting mad because people are spending their time searching the map for vehicles instead of running into Cherno and Ele? You wont find vehicles if you just run into Cherno and just start to die. Of course we are gonna hoard them. We found em, we fixed them, or we stole them. I suggest you spend more time in game searching for them instead of on the forums complaining how the spawn rates are too low. -
Me and a few friends are new to the game, and have a few unanswered questions about tent / vehicle gear storage. We've researched around a bit and found the following facts we would like additional info on : "Vehicles do not save gear upon server restarts." Is this still a current problem as of the recent patch 1.7.5? There was no date of when this info was added to the page we read it on, so, just curious if its safe to leave our guns in our jeep. "Tents despawn after 'owner' dies" We read that these stay for about 2 days after the 'owner' dies. (is owner the placer or who saved last?) And does going back to the tent and saving it again prevent it from deleting itself? OR would we have to empty it, pack it up, and replace it? Additional questions we have and couldn't find any reasonable answers on google: What does saving actually do? We know cars teleport back to their last save point on server restarts, anything else? and what about tents? Do they just disappear if you forget to save them? How much inventory space do tents have? Do cars all have different inventory spaces or all they all the same? (and how much is that number) Thanks in advance!

All I see here is crying about sins. Boo-hoo. What attrocities are you proud of?

So a couple of days ago I destroyed a camp with 6 vehicles, one Ural, one v3s, one dirtbike, one UAZ, one red UAZ and last but not least, a military offroad. Also, approximately 30 tents filled with all kinds of stuff was run over by the big ural that I decide to not blow up... Right then. So we filled the Ural up with all the rare shit we could find ( this is where the 4 as50, the DMR, most of the g17s and almost all the antibiotics went, hihi. After we unloaded that shit and took it to our own server, we blew the shit out of that Ural. Background of the story? I found this group of guys from all over the world playing together, and I'm not ashamed of admitting that I infiltrated the shit out of them. If any of you guys read this, know that I did not do this out of spite, because honestly, some of you guys were real cool to play with. Also, if you read this, guncrazy champ from tennessee, I was the sniper in the old camp. Four hours of camping that camp was totally worth it. :D God, that night was the funniest shit ever. If I ever get around to actually not being a retard and figuring out how to render files I would upload the video I took of your slow, but steady, decimation. Again, I hope you guys keep playing cause you ARE good at the game, but next time, dont trust people as easily as you do. One more thing. I was NOT the one leaching weapons from camp, although I have my own suspicions. =) Take care ya'll, see you on the interwebs, love Myrtle -
I guess that depends... If we don't have any vehicles on '64 we can make a straight transition to '104, but if we do have vehicles we should go ahead and plan this run on '64.

How often do vehicles respawn? I have traveled from Elektro to Black Lake to NW Airfield back to Elektro just to find a vehicle. I have relogged into dozens of servers at common vehicle spawn points. I have been at it for 2 days now and I haven't seen a single vehicle. Has DayZ really come to this point where it's absolutely pointless to search for a vehicle? Because this is getting really frustrating.

Cars and vehicles sometimes come in working condition. I've found ATVs that require two wheels to get moving and some engine parts to get in good condition. I've also found a off road truck in good condition with half fuel - don't think it was left by someone. What ever the case, if you need parts you need to know where to look. Wheels take 6 inventory spaces, so it can be hard to get. But once you get the vehicle moving you just load up the supplies and extras in the back and you can easily keep the vehicle in good order by raiding industrial areas and having a few jerry cans for refueling. The hardest thing is knowing the buildings that spawn the equipment and having the guts to be a target in your vehicle when you're looking to pick up equipment. There are motorcycles, manual bikes, civ cars, trucks, ATVs, boats, off road military vehicles and buses. But people usually hide them and don't want to be 'seen' with them

"Vehicles out in the countryside are readily available" hmmmm :P Seriously though when you've just spawned and you have nothing you run into the meat grinder towns you either a) get a weap and a decent set of stuff or b) die. It's the wild west baby ;) If you die.. then you probably haven't lost much. Personally I like to run in and grab what I can then head north. I find Balota airfield and the 4 deerstand camp just south of it to be a bit more dangerous but also sometimes more rewarding as far as guns go.

My suggestion to the community on logoffskis/teleport hack
Hashisx posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dear Survivors, It seems this is a topic people are complaining a lot about. I am not going to tell you "l2pnoob" or "get skillz", I am not that type of person. Here are things I do when I encounter such problems, unless I am in desperate need of med supplies/food. As there is, to my knowledge, no way of finding out who is killing who. Its the nature of online gaming and no AC is ever perfect. There are hundreds of servers for you to change from. You need to realize nothing is forever and sometimes starting over is the best option. Unless of course you're playing on a server with name tags and get his name/video proof. Post that on the forums. For people who are unable to get proof. Teleport Hack: Guys if I see someone teleporting around town, I JUST RUN. I run as fast as I can to get away from him. If he starts taking shots at me I will log off, yes this is lame but if hes not playing fair why should I? If he happens to kill you so be it switch servers. Logoffski: This is easier to deal with. So I am trying to kill player "A" but since he can't handle the thought of respawning at the coast or well trying to kill me and logs off. I either A) Have a group and we set someone to camp his log off spot while we loot. B) Move to a different town C) Server hop. In my experience with any game, despite some dayz related tactics, this is how I deal with hackers. I hope for newer players this helps. Tents/Vehicles are nice perks but are they really worth the frustration of dealing with a "hacker server". -
i dont see this as a problem at all. you are at massive risk while dumping and waiting for the respawn and very easily interupted! no where near as bad as hopping and checking 1 spot in multiple servers. imo people coming and farming with vehicles and then taking it off map is a problem. they can clear so much stuff in a matter of minutes into a few vehicles and just deposit it all off map where no1 can feasibly get to it. they dont need to hang around for a respawn just hit it later as they can basically take everything! they come basically un equipped with full inventory space. no risk except for losing the vehicle, but if they have off map camp they prob have more than one vehicle as once you have one its far far easier to get another!

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
LackofCertainty replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
One of the ideas mentioned that I like the most is limiting the tool slots, and increasing the number of tools available. (I'd also make tools either not fit in backpacks, or take up a lot of room [6 slots+] so that people can't easily switch loadouts) I like the idea that Player A only has enough tool slots to carry his cooking gear. Player B only has enough tool slots to carry his medic gear. and Player C only has enough tool slots to carry his engineer gear. Players B and C need player A to cook for them/make campfires to keep them warm, so they don't get crippled by hypothermia and starvation. Players A and C need player B to patch them up properly, because if they do it themselves it's half-assed and doesn't bring them back up to full capacity. You'd rather have a doc patch you up when you break your leg to get you to 100%, instead of fix it yourself and run with a limp that slows you down. Players A and B need player C, because they can't break down wire/barriers/traps other players have set in towns, and vehicles are actually very important now, because just travelling the wilderness is dangerous. The lone wolves (like myself) would still be able to make it work solo, but they'd just have to be damned careful, because one mistake could end them. Bandits would still work, because if everything is harder to get, then everything they steal is that much more valuable to them. The only issue I see is that it could make the game too difficult for players just starting out. Even as is, the life expectancy for new players is pretty short till they figure out zombie agro and what lootable buildings look like. With these changes I could see it being so harsh that most people would quit before getting over the hump. -
lol @ the people defending the legitimacy of the debug zone An argument to remove the debug zone, or the accessibility of it, is not the same as an argument against carebears. Feel free to take to the hills and hoard items and vehicles... INSIDE THE GAME WORLD. I'd even agree with you that the world should be made bigger, and have more wilderness far away from towns to hide in. But the debug zone has still got to go.

Noting that a lot of the flaws of Day Z, encompassing bugs and player interactions alike, are exacerbated in Chernogorsk and Elektrozavodsk, I decided to make a short list of why these cities should be avoided. 1. Deer Stands! -- These sources of loot/food are to be found ACROSS Chernarus. They are a proverbial one-stop-shop for everything from high-end backpacks, mid to high-end weaponry, ammunition, and equipment. -- Deer Stands spawn the same types of loot that the military tents and fire stations do. -- Some areas of the wilderness have two, three, and even four Deer Stands within 1000m of one another, so rarity shouldn't be a concern. 2. Fewer chances to encounter Bugs! (Generally) -- Fewer players, buildings, barbed wire fences, stairways, ladders, zombies away from the major cities. Most of the bugs that affect life and limb are exacerbated in cities. 3. Fewer chances to encounter other players and bandits! -- Pretty self-explanatory, if you move to lower-risk areas... you won't be liable to get shot nearly as often if there are no people there. -- If you don't like getting PKed, get the hell out of the cities. Otherwise, do not complain at all. Cities are meant to amplify the "shit hits the fan" symptom of post-apocalyptic worlds. 4. More vehicles at a lower risk! -- Vehicles out in the countryside are readily available and are often in isolated areas that present little risk from zombies and players alike. You can repair them largely at your own leisure, with little risk of players seeing you. 5. Medium-sized towns and other cities! -- Most of these cities have barns, which are a major source of weapons/food/drink out in the wilderness. -- A sizable portion of these cities have Supermarkets and/or Industrial buildings! Cities like Polana, Zelenogorsk, Vybor, and Pustoshka, among others, have supermarkets and industrial buildings. These are MAJOR sources of weapons/food/drink which refill regularly. -- Present tot he player a happy medium between the low-risk villages and the hyper-high-risk major cities. Be warned, cities with supermarkets are attractive to players, but far less attractive than a city full of them... or an immediately accessible city. 6. Small towns! -- Even small villages can yield really helpful loot. Most have at least one building/shed that is capable of spawning low-end weapons and food/drink. -- Low risk, in terms of overall zombie numbers and player-encounter likelihood. Enterprising groups of players may want to cordon off a small village to set up your own feudal post-apocalyptic kingdom! 7. High-End Loot! -- The best loot, as I'm sure most know, is not found in the cities. Those who are looking for that M107 to pump .50 BMG into bandits at 900m, or that Mk 48 to mow down swathes of zombies should look NORTH. -- Higher likelihood of finding multiple helicopter crashes, which spawn the top-tiered loot. 8. Abundant natural resources! -- If one wants to hunt the forests to survive, then one must get out of the city! A far more efficient way of re-attaining lost health is to hunt wild game! A cow will yield eight steaks, each (when cooked) will yield 800 health. That's 6400 health per cow! One can find multiple cows, sheep, boar, and goats within close proximity. 9. Remain stealth! -- If a player simply takes his/her time to disappear into the forest, that player is at a much better advantage than one that disappears into a building that could very well be surrounded by zombies or sighted in by a bandit. -- Remaining stealth gives you the opportunity to get the jump on people, something that is much harder to do in a city where everything is chaotic. 10. Start your own camp! -- A tent in the middle of a city square, or even near a city, is liable to get robbed... or camped. If a player moves into the wilderness, his/her tents will be much safer. TIP - The food/drink you spawn with ALONE will sustain you for linear hike covering over half the map. If coupled with additional foraging, this can be extended indefinitely. Point being, you do not need to go to the cities to survive. DISCLAIMER - Personal experience may vary, personal skill level may vary.

Tent city and protection ideas. Please give your opinion
Robert512 replied to Thegoon84's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
What's wrong with good old fashion guard duty? It needs a lot of organisation, you need players that can be on a server round the clock. Just like in the real world a base camp needs guards or at least a mobile team that keep travelling between outposts to keep an eye on them. Tent cities, especially with vehicles are usually easy to find and gives rich pickings, single tents dotted around the map are lot harder to find. Still my opinion is that if you are not willing to keep an eye on your loot while you are somewhere else gathering more loot than you deserve it to have stuff stolen from you. And don't come with that those people are bandits as well, its a dog eat dog world, thieves are certainly not more worse than players who kill if nessecary to get their hands on more loot. NPC's to guard loot camps make the problem of loot hoarders worse, it defeats the idea of perma death because it makes even easier to have a huge arsenal of weapons, ammunitions and other supplies. -
7 vehicles? thats a little ridiculous lol
-
dogs to guard tents/vehicles would be neat. they would have to be pretty hearty to be viable. more hearty than a zed, or even a player possibly otherwise, would be too easy to just shoot the dog as it runs at you. --- incorporating the humanity/spotting/warning ideas would work better overall imo. to make dogs viable in combat in the arma world, they would have to be pretty unrealistically strong. they would just be immersion breaking-ly unrealistic. not to say they can't ahve combat capabilities. they could feasibly be used to attack someone close to you, stopping them from running, or breaking bones/bloodloss... but that's all stuff that bullets can do now and better. their primary use should be for spotting/humanity/warning.

Do teleporting hacks exist? US 131
Baked_Beans_Benelli replied to batcaveslimer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
OMFG shut up and learn to adjust your gamma, and DVR. If you still can't wrap your head around how someone could POSSIBLY play at night after that then just go slam your head in a car door or something. you also don't need hacks to teleport. If someone sees you all they have to do is switch servers and go behind where they saw you then log back in to the server you are on. 9/10 times you are still looking at where you saw them last, and abracadabra they have "teleported" behind you. The hacks that truly have me worried are the ones that put visible hit boxes around players, tents, and vehicles with the character names and ranges on them. That and aimbots.
