Shooting everything you see isn't realistic...
Valec replied to MperorM's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
He has a point though, if you want to go for a realistic experience, the deathmatching is bullshit. As is the circumventing of permadeath with tents and/or vehicles. It all depends on what you like the game to deliver in the end. Besides, there is no way to suck at dayZ, since there is little skill involved. You only need to get used to the controls and be patient enough to avoid risks and you can get everything you want. Its great though, since I finally have something to play with my RL friends who would never put in the practice time needed for competitive gaming. The controls are glitched in a way that real competition would be hardly possible anyway. You'll probably rather see Angry Birds played at WCG before they even think about picking up Dayz or Arma. It's only bullshit because you call it deathmatching. That's fine if you see it that way, but it's not anything like a deathmatch. It's about survival, not score. If I kill you, you won't kill me, thus i've increased my chances of survival. It's very simple logic. Not killing you drastically increases my chances of dying to you. Killing you reduces that chance to %0. So does killing me at 500m plus when I'm not aware of you increase you chance of survival if i'm going away from you? Yes. Because I have absolutely no idea where you will end up. I don't know for sure that you aren't aware of me. You could very well be trying to circle around behind me for the kill. There's a lot of uncertainty, and I don't like uncertainty that I can avoid. -
If you save your vehicle and change servers, can you take it with u?

First of all just because you are going to bitch about something because you suck at arma two and cant seem to kill someone with your little axe because thats all you find that isnt our problem. Dont come to forums to bitch about it. He has a point though, if you want to go for a realistic experience, the deathmatching is bullshit. I havent really thought of it until now but why are nearly all cars rusted wrecks what happened. If it was a nuclear apocalypse i could understand but a zombie apocalypse doesnt really make much sense. What do you think happened?

So far I could drive all vehicles with WASDA. If you get in the drivers seat, you need to check the top left part of the screen, it will tell you if you have gas, and what parts may need repair. Parts that are ok are green.

Something tells me this guy isn't the one who is going to be the one who just wants to trade, but ends up getting shot. He's asking what people will bring him essentially, so he can kill them when they bring it to him. Noone would be stupid enough to risk NVG's or vehicles to "Trade".

Deny saving tents/vehicles outside of map.
TheProphecy replied to Paah (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
LOL at people trying to defend this. They are obviously the clowns with tents and vehicles outside the map right now. Hiding shit outside the map is a pussy move, period. My group came across some vehicles over the last few days. We tried hiding them in the map, they wound up getting taken. Of course it sucks, but such is life in the zone. You can't expect to live forever, so why does it make any sense to find a car and have it in your possession for a month? Grow some balls, put your shit in the map and if you're so scared about it getting taken, you're already breaking the golden rule of dayz (not getting attached to your items). Since you're that scared, post sentries to watch your camp at all times. You guys obviously have a sickening level of determination in order to not only find a spot way off outside the map, but walk to it multiple times everyday. -
Just stop now Roboserg, you are doing yourself no favours. Think about it, If a vehicle spawned at location X, someone takes the vehicle. server restarts and another vehicle spawns in exactly the same location, if that happened on every server for every vehicle spawn in Dayz there would be more vehicles than players.
-
why? just crawl even if you guys place hundreds of traps around your tents/vehicles I will still get to it! since you can only break my bones once!
-
Yeah, it's so unfair that the person paying to run the server knows where the vehicles are, and you're right that they're all assholes who're just going to horde them with their friends that you don't even know but who must of course be pathetic. GG?

Want to start a squad of elite players?
richard_b replied to banned's topic in New Player Discussion
I guess I could join if you guys have TS3. Tell me a bit about your group. You guys got vehicles, a camp? What kind of comms do you use? Anything I should know? -
hey guys was your camp the one that was mostly west and slightly south of zelenogorsk? if so, we stumbled on that while combing the map edges for camps  since i think you might have been in the camo military offroad near the same place shortly after (which we failed gloriously to destroy even with an extreme upper hand) and you were running dark, i presume you know how we could see in the dark i promise you we don't use any hacks at all, just play way too much. however, there are hackers on our server. our camp got hit by some guys that spawned in some silly vehicles, such as a bicycle that goes 70kmph and accelerates instantly if you experience stuff like that and can get me a name, i can talk to the admin and he'll get the guid. we've already banned a couple obvious hackers and US74 has already banned a lot of script kiddies that don't get that they're banned (try to reconnect 10 times a night~). message me on steam (Dirty Protagonist) any time thanks and see you in the field :shy:

I got a lift from a guy on an ATV from Kamenka heading North to NW Airfield. We saw a vehicle in some trees west of Zelengorsk and stopped. I threw a grenade at the vehicles and the guys combat logged out. I heard choppers but didnt see any. Are they back ingame now? Lewis don't use my name in vain as an attempt to muddy it. I don't hack or exploit Lewis as you know. We kicked you out of [83rd] because you kept combat logging ingame. If that is the reason you try and associate me with an alleged hacker then shame on you. I've been gaming since 2003 and have never hacked or exploited.

I am the head admin of US74. Based on the description of what was taken and the timeline, I am pretty sure it was the group I play with that raided your camp. And man did you have a ton of stuff. Our biggest issue was figuring out what to take. As far as hackers, we did believe we did have a hacker on yesterday and we asked the dayz admins to confirm if the helicopters where back in game, but we never heard anything back so we banned the person. I know no one in our group hacks, because if they did, they would be banned and removed from all activities we do as we play across multiple games. It doesn't take ESP to find camps or work in the dark. Camps are easy to find, especially with a group. We are very proficient at putting in night time work and is actually the preferred time for many of us. I am not here to give away intelligence gathering secrets, so I'll leave it to you to figure it out :) Ironically, in the span of 48 hours, we raided a camp with 3 vehicles, then we lost all of the vehicles and our own camp, then found your camp and are set again. Gotta love this game lol I commend you on your groups organization. I encourage you to keep it up and stick around. We are a friendly bunch... in a zombie survival, I want your stuff kind of way.... We don't server hop and take people stuff to other servers to avoid conflict. We are here to stay and want to encourage others to do the same. So hopefully we will have the chance to shoot you later :p

Are you absolutely SURE that say I take a vehicle at Berezhno and park it somewhere else. Are you SURE new one will spawn there after server restart ? I thought only if I kill my vehicle or leave it alone for 7 days. And how do I know when the servers restart? It SO UNFAIR that the admin knows that and hoards all the new vehicles of map with their pathetic friends. Does all vehicles spawn broken ?

Forming a serious Band of Survivors
Strez21 replied to mouljedi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Count me in. I'm interested in repairing some vehicles, maybe setting up a camp. Hard to do that sort of thing solo. joe.stileski on skype. -
I am looking for an organized professional group for the following: Raids on cities and towns, Bandit hunting, surplus raids and random fun. I do not like to grief players and, if given a choice, I would team up and assist players. I do understand that sometimes Kill-On-Site is needed. The better the gear = less trust. I normally play on AZ3 during the evenings Arizona time. Experience: 15 years MMO raiding, Real life- 10 years military experience, land navigation experience. Looking for group with trustworthy solid members with access to ground and air assets. I have gear to match my experience. I utilize current map information to find best gear and vehicles. I also have vent, steam and skype communication. I prefer to interview online voice before meeting in game. I will not have any gear on me on first contact for security purposes. **Please reply on this thread I will check daily**

Not sure how ESP work but if they find your camp because of vehicles appearing on a radar, just keep the vehicles separated from the camp and lose only those.

Hackers - UK25 - Some way of monitoring vehicle location
Blasty replied to Aoridian's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
It's hackers, the guys who are pretending it isn't hackers are probably the hackers. The same thing happened to us i've lost every single vehicle I found within a few hours no matter how hard i hide it because hackers just log in and roll to the vehicles. -
15players maximum, once I get in I get immediately kicked for no reason. The same people are on the server and every time I see someone else joining in they get kicked also. Before they started kicking players I found a huge base with all the vehicles in the server and tons of tents. I looted em and stole a car and drove it somewhere safe. Perhaps a group of players including an admin got pissed and now they're looking for the car with all their stuff? Might be...However this should not be allowed.
-
They were hackers. I just read a post I think is from an admin of that server with similar issues for them last night as well. Its a shame this game is going to be ruined for me because of people cheating. In a matter of 24 hours we had accumulated 4 vehicles and a huge amount of gear, only to have it stolen then the rest destroyed by them.

Deny saving tents/vehicles outside of map.
Scerun replied to Paah (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
While I agree that they shouldn't be able to save vehicles outside the map, I sympathise that there isn't anywhere you can really hide a base, seeing as the map is small, and ultimately one-dimensional. By that I mean you only get to explore the surface landscape - there are no underground locations or the like to hide out of plain-sight. It tends to be rolling fields. No natrual valleys and cliffs to obscure your sight, or caves. Ya know. -
Deny saving tents/vehicles outside of map.
rovenkursk replied to Paah (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the idea. The game is based on perma death yet clans dominate over half the vehicles and constantly farm up all the good stuff and stock it in their tents leaving nothing for regular solo players. If they die, it's not like they care because they have 20 more guns in their tents and a hundred more NV goggles. Camps are made to be discovered and so are the vehicles. Being solo, or playing with very small groups (2-3) is pretty much pointless.
