  1. Once a player learns what to avoid doing and learns to recover from mistakes, like pulling too many zombies when trying to loot a town, the game becomes much too easy. Players become the only real threat and in turn become the only goal of the game. Exploring the map is awesome if you never played ARMA2 but some people crave more excitement than that. Vehicles and camps are great things to search for but the odds of finding them are slim so a lot of people don't bother. I hope Rocket increases the difficulty the further inland you get. I'd rather the game was as hard on experienced players inland as it is on noobies on the coast. Once you have a Winchester and 3-5 ammo the zombies become nothing but a nuisance to your ears. Maybe they'll address this lack of goal and northern area difficulty further down the development cycle. (btw, before anyone complains, there are goals in the game and gearing up is one of them but many people turn around and head south to kill noobs because they have nothing else to do and choose to go on a murderous rampage rather than stand around in a field looking at a cow)

Base Defenses ( Document included )

Hiding vehicles is not enough. It is not about losing a vehicle it is about being able to defend your things. Try not to think to hard on this subject please. It is obviously hurting your brain judging by all your typos but let me explain this simply so you might understand. THE POINT IS, IF THERE ARE BASE DEFENSES, BANDITS MUST NOW SIEGE YOUR BASE. THAT MEANS LARGE SIEGE WARFARE BETWEEN SURVIVORS AND BANDITS. IT GIVES A WHOLE NEW PVP TYPE TO THE END GAME. I dont give a damn about losing a vehicle, it's the end game content that base defenses will create that I am interested in.

Need Medical Assistance? We can help.

After Action Report Started today with taking a patient near Chernogorsk. I reasoned that I might as well hit the two hospitals and the medical tents to see if I could pick up some Antibiotics. Turns out where I was was a good 4km off from where my patient was. He agreed for medical assistance at a later time. Though, I'm hoping some one else will take this request as I'm no longer inclined head into Chernogorsk as I am no longer on a good path towards it. I then moved to Lopatino to treat a survivor who was looking for parts. I will tell you this, the infected seem to be more aggressive. Had to go around a thick underbrush after aggroing an infected from a good 80 metres. Time to relearn sneaking around. Anyways, a quick treatment for low blood and broken bones. Gave him some spare morphine for future use. I then hiked back to my usual camping spot. I found some useful gear and then got my legs broken by a infected soldier on the way back. Good thing I'm a combat medic. Thanks to liammanator for giving me a thumbs up. Thinking about picking a server as a home server but most of the servers I join just literally bomb everything from vehicles to tents back into oblivion when they restart. Anyone has suggestions? didn't realise new capacity for PM was 50 messages...had 108..all clean now :) Not going to accept anymore medical requests unless they are nearby to my camping spot. Which if I do, people will know and try to hunt me down but meh.

    Banned for picking up M24

No, you can't. BattlEye only detects scripts that you run, such as spawning in weapons or vehicles, or nuking the whole server. I'd find it unfair for a completely new player to be banned for picking up a weapon they had no idea of which it was not legitimately implemented. Also, even though the M24 is a legit weapon, and in DayZ it is. In your case, if it wasn't, and somebody picks it up in a vanilla match, would they not be banned? Logic. TL;DR - You were banned for hacking, and cannot be banned by BattlEye for picking up illegitimate weapons.
  5. well, clearly we don't want tons of vehicles on the map, it would ruin the sense of accomplishment you get when you manage to find one or put one together. That being said. On all the servers I've been on, and all the weeks I've played, and all the searching I've done. I have only actually seen 1 vehicle in actual use and have never run across any in their natural spawn locations. A possible solution may be: Randomize the spawn locations more. Say, If a sedan spawns in elektro or whatever, have it's actual spawn loaction inside elektro be in 10 different spots. The spawn rate would be the same but people would still have to search them out and not know where they are going to be.
  6. I would love to see regular server wipes like every patch. Everyone starts on the coast and all vehicles have to repaired again. This would make the game more new player friendly and most likely promote more working together since not everyone can defend themselves right off the bat.
  7. **NOTICE** We are currently full on players and not taking any more. ** END OF NOTICE ** We are currently 4 people playing on EU servers as most of us are from the EU. We communicate via our TS3 server. We currently regurlay raid high value targets, aswell as seeking out the occasional trouble. We're also on a scavage hunt to get parts for our vehicles. We are looking for mature players from the EU region (18+ preferred) You must have a good working micrphone (no static or other interference) You do not have to be a DayZ veteran to be able to join us. We're looking to add 2-3 players to our current squad. We play together almost every evening/night and during the day in the weekends. If your intrested PM me or reply to this topic, or you can add me to steam : Randal258

    If I Drop Gear?

well just got my first bus. was so excited, i drove into the NW Airfield and looted the crap out of it. I know vehicles and tents are persitent to the servers. My question is if i took all the gear out of the bus in put them on the ground would i be able to get it back if im on another server, pending no one takes it? The reason i ask is the server restarted got booted and my SAW, bison and and a bunch of AKS were on the bus.

    New mechanic: weapon health system

The lack of risk at endgame is exactly my problem. Once i got NVGs, ghillie, an M4 CCO SD, and quite a few vehicles between me and my friends, i felt as if i had totally beaten the game. I got bored really fast. If it wasn't for people stealing my vehicles every five seconds, i'd have no reason to play.

    Hiding Vehicles?

Wow a bunch of bitter people showing up here about vehicles lol. With random vehicle spawns when you first buy a sever and turn it on there's a chance a few vehicles may spawn, then the next server reset a few more and so on and so on. So a clan would have to lock their server for a few days to be able to get every vehicle lol. Also you know all those maps you guys cheat off and look for vehicle spawns? That doesn't even show half of the vehicle spawns or even close. I now know of 4 spawns just by myself that are not on those loot maps. Here is an example on how I got my first ATV. It took days of collecting those traps but it paid off. Oh yeah and quit being so lazy and go LOOK for these peoples camps you'd be surpised at how easy it is to find them.

    sandbox=douchbags?

Another thread complaining about the things that make this game good lol. Without a bunch of people making your life difficult this game wouldn't be fun at all lumberjacks are supposed to be tough? Also people go spend $20 on a mike so you don't have to try and type friendly into your keyboard a complete waste of time. Also when you notice someone don't run out into the open and call out friendly like a noob, retreat into a building and say friendly from in there through a window or something. In real life if I see joe blow running down the street with an ak I wouldn't be running over and be going friendly friendly friendly? Also my roommate and I took one of our vehicles to cherno/elektro and the coast and all that a few people shot at us no doubt. But we picked up 8 different friendly people and had good times with them all. We did axe murder one of them after his friend crashed a tractor and died though. But he was even laughing as we axed him lol. The player interaction and sandbox of this game is what makes it so much fun. When people complain about the core aspects of the game they clearly don't know how to play.
  12. Rocket keeps talking about how there is no ultimate goal ("endgame") right now. At the moment the ultimate goal is to find vehicles and helicopters, its all theres left to do after you get NVGs and all that good stuff.
  13. Had an issue where I left a load of stuff on the ground by my friend while I nipped into the shop in Zelenogorsk. Got eaten by zombies and when I clicked respawn all the stuff I'd dropped on the ground instantly disappeared as my friend was looking at it and about to start picking it up. Not sure if this is by design but it definitely spoiled the immersion and lost us some vehicles repair supplies we'd been collecting.
  14. I have the same exact situation and the same things have happened to me. You shouldnt punish players who scour the map for vehicles and parts and vehicle stashes. Unless they used scripts to locate them, people who have nine vehicles and shit earned them. Those who complain have never spent hours with their clan looking around the entire map fir vehicles. Your 9 vehicle stash is obviously the result of hours of hard work (unless you used scripts, in which case FU).
  15. Assume whatever you want. I've played ~600 hours and have logged fewer than 10 murders total, and most of those have been people who were posturing threateningly or trying to steal from my tents or vehicles. I don't personally seek out PvP that often. But everything I do do would be a hell of a lot less exciting if there weren't people following me around all the time trying to murder me. Believe it or not some of us defend PvP not because we do it, but because we appreciate the impact it has on the intensity and challenge that the game presents. You can certainly ignore me if you want, but please don't presume to know me.
  16. Quit bitching. You can easily find vehicles by running across the western and northern border. My clan has had our shit stolen upwards of ten times in the last two weeks, at one point losing 9 vehicles. You can easily acquire a vehicle stockpile if you know where to look. Yesterday I found Ural, VS3, a tractor, and two ATVs, just by crisscrossing the entire northern border on a bicycle. Vehicle hoarding is the result of teamwork. Find some friends to play with

    Batttle Eye Replacement

I'm all for this, battle eye has failed us. I'm sick of people using scripts to locate my vehicles, I'm sick of people teleporting with guns that arent even IN dayz and killing me. I once killed a hacker, took his sniper rifle, and then made him rage. He spawned warheads that fell from the sky and wiped the entire map clean of buildings and people. Hacking is an all to common occurence and frankly i'm sick of it.

Classes in DayZ (let the shitstorm commence)

Not trying to highjack this thread, but most complaints do not apply to my version of this. my page: After reading some of the other threads, it is appearant that we are all pros at everything. Need to fix a car? I got it. Need a Doctor? Sure, I can do that, too. Oh! Look a helicopter! Yea, I pilot on the weekends... Suggestion: It can be randomly given or an option to choose(preferably an option as you do choose what career you have in life --and people will just spawn/die until they get what they want), but have a list of careers to choose from that would make since in a survival situation (aka your job before the world went to crap). All skills can be obtained over time/practice, but until skills are honed, the effects are limited or in some cases not available. Only one skill can be mastered, the rest could earn up to the expert level. average>skilled>expert>master --Just an example. Depending on what career you choose depends on how long it takes you to level up an opposing skill or may even disable other skills. (Doctor studies medicine, no way hes got a straight shot; or Chef cooks a mean meal, but can fix a car to save his life --no pun intended) Example: Chef- Cooked food heals more. Takes longer to become hungry. Cooks food fast. Has no chance of burning food. Vs. Average Joe- Will get hungry faster. Takes much longer to cook. Cooking food has a chance to burn. Over time, can get better at cooking, but can't become master. So, there is always a chance to burn food. NOTE: In this case, a system where the grade of food matters should be added and all canned foods should be heated before consumption. can of pasta(average), burnt meat(poor), cooked meat(excellent). Careers: Chef - Cooked food heals more. Takes longer to become hungry. Cooks food fast. Has no chance of burning food. Enables the ability to gut animals. Doctor - Can apply bandages faster. Enables the ability to give blood transfusions. Mechanic - Can repair vehicles faster. Enables the ability to repair engine and rotor (and fuel tank?). --everyone can replace a tire or put gas in a car Soldier(or Cop) - Can shoot farther and more accurate with any weapon. Also, more accurate when recovering from running. Reloads faster. Enables the ability to use the high end weapons at start. --Other professions require expert to equip say a M16, skilled to use a shotgun. Pilot - Enables the ability to fly. Longer to become thirsty(Years of flying has taught you to conserve drinking as to not urinate as much). Less fuel consumption while flying. --Pilots take quickest path and smoother turns while flying, those little extras save gas. NOTE: Some tasks are fine as is, so some of them would need to take longer as to provide a balanced benefit. Others currently take forever and would need to be faster as the skill increases. (Ex: Cooking speed is fine currently(I say expert level), increase the time so that the Chef career becomes desirable. Bandaging takes forever(average), reduce the time as this skill increases making the Doctor career more desirable. ETC.) Summary: This would promote teamwork as one skilled profession would rely on the skills of another. Also, would give players something to work at other than the current search and destroy (scavenging and killing). What do you guys think? Any other jobs need to make the list? Or perhaps an adjustment to the current ones? Keep in mind that there needs to be a balance to each and that I tried to give each career an edge that no one else would have. original: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/29134-career-skill-sets/

    Hiding Vehicles?

Good vehicles (offroaders, moterbikes and trucks) are usualy hoarded by the clan/admin that owns the server and placed far of map where you need to know exact coordinates to find it. Even worse on maps with helicopters where they are hidden even further of map. If the above is not the case you can find them usually at the west and northern edge of the map.

    Hiding Vehicles?

(Clan) vehicles? just outside of the map All I know they just lock the server at first day beginning to farm all vehicles then open for all because they pay the server.
  21. Hello, One of the places I like most of the forum, is the section for suggestions. But with so many suggestions, most of them end up getting out of sight. Why not create subsections within the suggestions? weapons ammunition, Equipment; vehicles; graphics; clothes; etc. .. That's it.
  22. These guys have been on all morning from what I observed from 11:45AM today EST. Pretty obvious that it's being done to loot heli's and get vehicles. See the screenshots below:

    Build 1.7.2 Rolling Update

Bugs I've noticed so far in this update: - Cows/sheep/boars have been disappearing almost immediately. 1 boar disappeared before I could gut it (I killed it when standing next to it). 1 Cow disappeared right after I gutted it. 1 sheep let me take all the meat, and then disappeared (normal behavior). - I haven't seen a single vehicle (this is pretty common though. Although I did run through a large chunk of the map on multiple servers, checking normal hiding places). I think vehicles need to be more common and respawn sooner upon being wrecked (perhaps the next server restart?) I hope you guys fix it so you don't have to manually reset vehicles through the database. - I've been murdered or shot at by everyone I've come across, assuming they were armed. (Maybe my humanity has gone super low without me knowing). This isn't really a bug, but more like a normal feature by now. - Zombies have been spawning / teleporting too close to me. I do like the new zombie behavior though (besides the spawning/teleporting too close). Easier to sneak by them if you pay attention to where they're looking, but they can see you if you're just standing in a road like a jackass 100m away. Also, what does visibility mean in the debug menu? Is that how many meters away a zombie has a chance of seeing you?

    I found a camp at UK41

Dont count on seeing your vehicles and tents full of stuff again after UK41 patched to 1.7.2. All loot inside tents, all vehicles and everything has been resetted and cleared by patching to 1.7.2, and if you'll try to place stuff inside your tents again; they'll simply disappear on the next server restart. If this is old news for you, dont be mad. I'm just trying to warn other players with tents&vehicles, because this has happened to my camp yesterday.

    Batttle Eye Replacement

You would be surprised. Up until 4 days ago, the only "easy" and "user friendly" script hack was one developed last year, and had been detected for months. People before now, used small specific scripts to spawn specific things, like vehicles through file editing. This wasnt user friendly. 3-4 days ago, a new hack was released based on the code of the "old one" which allows people to run all kinds of scripts. This is why we see so many videos of hackers at this moment, people spawning things, dropping bombs, teleporting everyone to 1 spot. These things are all results of a popular mod where gear has some form of meaning, and a new hack that allows you to be "on top" of everyone else.
