Hello When I right-click on ArmA2: OA and select Run Combined Operaions, a black dialogue box appears for a fraction of a second and disappears. When running just OA I get DayZ_anim requires CA_Dubbing_Counterattack but the game still runs but then another box comes up about No entry 'bin\config.bin\CfgVehicles\' and Vehicles are invisible. When I try to reinstall battle-eye I get two MISSING STRING!!! error pop ups and finally when I verify intergrity of game cache, it says 1 file is missing, but that file won't replace. I've tried verifing integrity of game cache multiple times but it still says 1 file is missing each time, so I am suspicious of it not replacing. Thanks

Hmm you sure about this? Cause the bus was facing me exactly, and considering bullet drop the impact would have been exactly in the center of his chest without the windshield. So the deviation would have to be like 45 degrees after hitting the windshield and considering the windshield was maybe 75cm from his body that would be extremely unrealistic. Can anyone confirm that you can shoot through intact windshields in DayZ atm? Im sure i didnt miss cause i was sitting at a sniper spot ive been practicing shots from in the editor 20 minutes before... So if it was a bug i'll keep trying to shoot people in vehicles, but if not ill just kill them before they get in from now on.

Baiting players in to your crosshairs
iiRag3Kniif3 replied to vane's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Doing that is taking advantage of stupid noobs. I loot vehicles and stuff but i usually play in a squad so we have like 5-6 people covering whomever is looting and we scan about 15 minutes before even attempting to loot, we'll also shoot 320s and stuff around to lure people out and make snipers move. But yeah it's really fun to bait a Crashed Chopper... -
Admin abuse - What you need to know
CriticalNerd replied to Zoop's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Since so many videos and reports were made because of admin abusing, and not just in these forums but in all over the internet, what is exactly the thread's purpose? It's obvious there are legit and honest admins, but there's alot of them abusing their limited power over their servers. Also @zoop, I know the servers restart for many reasons. While playing for 3-5 hours without interruption, on many occasions I experienced, when some vehicles change hands, server goes apeshit. it's not entirely coincidental that the server restarts, and multiple times in a row, alway then, always with the same motive. -
This is a continuation of the other thread I posted. http://dayzmod.com/f...cter-evolution/ Since it touches on different aspects and the first post was already long enough, I decided to post it separately. I'm suggesting some new features to be added, and changes to the current systems in the game. Ideas here are less developed than in the other thread, so they're even more open to improvement and brainstorming. 2. STAMINA (and running, and zombie pursuit) As it stands, characters can run forever and swing their weapons until the sun stops shining, with no ill effects. I believe being tired should be a concern in a world this vast, especially when being chased by the restless dead. The answer would be simple: add a stamina stat. You run, you get tired. You swing a melee weapon, you get tired. You get tired, you must stop doing whatever you're doing, or you'll start doing it worse (running slower, meleeing weaker), and you'll eventually pass out. You'll also get thirsty quicker when exerting yourself (and much much slower than currently, if not tired) Stamina would be represented by an icon, much as the other icons already in the game, and would be hinted at with other visual/auditory cues: huffing and puffing by the character, double vision, increased body temperature. Regaining stamina would depend on simply resting (walking or standing at ease; being seated would be best). A short rest (30 seconds or so) would regain all stamina up to about half, and a longer rest (10 minutes or so) would regain the rest. The main effect this would have in the game would be to stop people from running all over chernarus with a tail of zombies on their back. At some point, if they hadn't been lost, the player would have to face them and fight, or pass out and be devoured. No attribute in the game would add to the pool of stamina, but increasing endurance (see my other post) would make it deplete slower. The heavier one's load, the faster it would be decreased as well. It's a simple system, implemented in several other games, and would work wonderfully. It would also make vehicles and bycicles more important for cross-country trips (meanwhile, overall slower thirst/hunger would allow one to hoof it without dying of hunger in two hours, but he would have to take breaks to rest, if running) 3. PLAYER LOAD (and its effects on stealth) Another simple suggestion here. We all hear the sound effects made by the character when carrying lots of water bottles, weapons, and other stuff. Quite simply, the more items a player is carrying, the louder he should be while moving (and the more he would tire - related to the previous suggestion). Carrying large bags would also make the player more visually conspicuous, thus making it harder to sneak around. This way, a player might want to find somewhere to his his bag before going into a town infiltration, or a team might prefer to select a lighter-loaded "scout" to go into a town and retrieve items. Large bags would be used in longer trips, while the smaller bags would be more silent, and useful even later in the game. 4. LOCKED CONTAINERS So, even though this is a "perma-death" game, everybody who's playing is striving to build something. To learn more about the world is a fun journey in itself, but acquiring better equipment is an integral part of the game. Right now, the only way we have to stash items which are not currently being held (which we do because we're either too full to carry them, or they are not useful at the moment, or because we want a safe place to store them in case our character dies and later retrieve them) is by putting them in a tent. Even forgetting about the numerous bugs related to tents at the moment, they are a nice, basic stash, but very vulnerable to looting, and being exploded, and run over. Likewise, some people have been fortifying buildings, either to stay safe from other players or deny them the loot in said buildings. The only way to do so at the moment is to use barbed wire. It looks and feels awkward, since barbed wire -can-, in real life, be bypassed if one moves carefully, and because locking a door with a padlock and a chain would be a much easier way to achieve the same objective That said, I propose a system that would allow for locking of tents and other containers, as well as doors. First, we'd need a series of different containers, and different locks, as well as the means to open them. 4.1. LOCK/UNLOCK MECHANICS Any container or door in the game should be able to be LOCKED or UNLOCKED. Once LOCKED, in order to save the hassle of having individual keys, each item would only be openable by the same characted who locked it. Once set down, containers could only be moved by the setting player (same as tents are today) Containers can be broken open with appropriate instruments. This is described below as the item's "integrity" level. A weak container could be forced open with just a toolbox. An average container must be broken open with a heavy melee weapon (crowbar or axe). A strong container can only be busted open with explosives. If opened this way, there's a chance some or all of the items inside might be damaged, depending on the force required. (Explosives have 60% of chance of destroying each item, melee weapons 30%, and a toolbox 10%). Also in the game would be lock systems - simple, average, and complex. These locks could be picked by someone, and a lockpick item would be used (and possibly expended) for the action. The decision of whether a lockpick attempt suceeds would be based on a random chance, modified by the complexity of the lock and the engineering skill of the person who locked it, against the engineering skill of the lockpicker. Think of it as someone locking a container or door and reinforcing that lock with chains and other deterrents. Locks would also have an integrity meter and could be forced open in the same way as containers. A destroyed lock, however, could not be transported and reused, whereas a picked lock could be looted and used elsewhere. Most containers would have integrated locks, which could be upgraded with a lock item. It would also be possible to add a lock (both destroyable and bypassable) to any openable door in the game. 4.2. CONTAINERS Containers could be obtained as normal items in loot spots. With the exception of the tent (3 slots, as usual), they each occupy as much space in a bag as their own storage space, plus two. - Tent >Storage space: fifty slots. >Integrity: weak >Lock: none - Crate >Storage space: twenty slots. >Integrity: average >Lock: none - Small locked box >Storage space: four slots. >Integrity: weak >Lock: simple - Large locked box >Storage space: twelve slots. >Integrity: average >Lock: simple - Small safe box >Storage space: six slots >Integrity: strong >Lock: average - Large safe box >Storage space: twelve slots >Integrity: strong >Lock: average 4.3. LOCKS - Simple padlock >Integrity: weak >Lock: simple - Strong padlock >Integrity: average >Lock: average - Large lock kit >Integrity: strong >Lock: complex So yea, that's what I had in mind for today. Suggestions? Problems? Please sound in.

Hello fellow Survivors out there. Some friends of mine who are pretty new to DayZ (2-4 Weeks experience) are looking for 2 or 3 more players joining our group. We got everything to theoretically (not deadly shot by bandit, bugs, Patches or broken legs due to zombies/bear traps) infinitely survive. These are: - Weapons with enough ammunition (Lee, AKs, and handguns) - Crossbow for animal and silent killing - Box of matches and hatchet for cooking ofc - Map, Compass and Watch - Food and Drinks (Water Bottles included) - Blood Bags for absolute emergencies (normally we kill an animal, cook and eat the meat afterwards to get blood in the wilderness Where we are: - Anywhere on the map, just contact us and we'll find a spot to meet What we are planning but not quite knowing how to do: - Camp - Finding Vehicles As you can see, we do not have that high requirements but a few we allow us to introduce: - Minimum of 2 Weeks expierence and knowing how to survive (more experienced would be absolutely great actually) - On Meetup not carrying weapons (we will find a spot where you are greatly spottable ,meet there and will shoot if you have/pull out a weapon of any kind , this is ONLY for safety issues, we will not harm you in any way if you do not attack us!.) - Microphone and Teamspeak 3 (Optional: Skype, Steam, Xfire) - Age of 16-24 on join date - Ability to express in an understandable way of English or German - Having fun playing the game - TIMEZONE: Around GMT +1 or playing whilst GMT +1 Time If you meet this requirements and want to join us, then i'll provide you contact data. Steam: earthstamper (Current Nickname: Spiritreader @ Ü MÅD BRØ / in case you cannot find my profile by entering the default name) Teamspeak IP: ts3-081.lan4play.de:11052 If you join our Teamspeak 3 server and i am not available, check back later. I mostly couldnt contact back the members that joined 1-2 times and were never seen again without leaving a reply to this topic or adding me in Steam. What do you think about non-hive servers?
rinaun replied to DeadManDan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I like all my posts getting locked and then hosting 3 servers and all get full to the rim in 2 hours. It really is sad you guys won't support the private HIVE system and make us edit files for our non-hive. I have 3-4 blades waiting to run more servers on my HIVE that mimics the official HIVE with the addition of a few more vehicles. Why not just give us the build and that way I could give you feedback at the code and help? Most of my users are playing on my servers because they want to play your fantastic game without having to wait 5 minutes to load in on the incredibly incredibly terrible HIVE system. -
How to know if vehicles are on? Or are they on all servers?
Adjta (DayZ) replied to kyle939's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
CH means cross hairs. Vehicles should always be on, but there is a chance that a clan has already gotten the main ones and is hoarding them in their base. -
So i was covering my friend while he was moving around the NE airfield a few hours ago with a M107 and suddenly there's 3 vehicles driving up to the hangars with 1 players inside of each. Since it was a military location it was kill or be killed and they were pretty close to my mate... One of them was driving a civilian bus and after he got out i just aimed at the drivers seat, waiting for him to get back in to take him out. He was exactly 698 meters away from my location and directly facing me. So i zeroed my rifle to 700m, aimed at his throat and shoot him as soon as he got back into the bus, only to realize the shot didn't get past the windshield. Is this a bug? Cause after that they spotted my buddy and killed him which probably wouldn't have happened if i managed to kill one of them first. Has this ever happened to you before or did i just encounter a weird bug/lag/whatever...?

How to know if vehicles are on? Or are they on all servers?
kyle939 posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hello, Quick random question. How do you know if vehicles are on a server? Or are they on anyway? Me and friend spent 9hours running around the entire map, started at Cherno and went far right, up and around to the top airfield and then weaved back down and did not find a single one to fix or do up. Not sure if they are on all servers or turned off. Also I know what 3D thing is, but what is the CH: on/off thing mean? Not sure what CH is. Been on Dayz all day today so off to bed, just want to know what servers have them on so we can play and find them. Too much running lol. Thanks -
U.B.C.S. Server. (US128, US167 & US302) -5GMT 50 Slots with TS3!
U.B.C.S. Ravin replied to U.B.C.S. Ravin's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Sometimes when the server restarts, tents don't make it nor do vehicles. As Phresh said they come back at the next restart and it appears this has happened and everything is fine. @ Phresh - I hope one of the newer beta's has those functions enabled. Or even in Arma3. Arma2 servers, are to put it lightly, crappy. -
Wow, Battle eye or whatever needs to be improved.

Some guy hacked the shit of out a game, killed everyone. Fuck it, I had M4A1, Camo Suit, Vehicles. This is just great.. -
Clearly, the green bike is the adult state of vehicles. The UAZ and ATV are just larvae.
-
Well due to people being fuckwits and exploiting the game by hiding things off map, you get people like myself and others exploring these areas looking for vehicles. It is strange there is a bike there though, maybe someone is hacking them into bikes?
-
So me and a mate had a UAZ, we hid it in the north...next day it was gone and a green bike was at the place where the UAZ stood. Nothing special, the car was hard to hide...so maybe someone found it in this short time. Then we found a ATV. As its easy to hide we drove to a place where no player should be likely to look for it. Then we hid it in a tree. It was not spottable! It was perfectly hidden, if we wouldnt have known that the ATV was standing there, we wouldnt have found it again. Next day (today) ATV is gone, green bike standing beside the spot... So is this coincidence or what happened there?
-
So I happen to be up in the far NW area of the map just dickin around exploring, when I hear a tractor coming up the road heading further north. I decided to follow it as I wasn't very far from the edge of the map. Sure enough, I hit the end of the road and turn east and see a giant camp. Probably like 15 tents (which a lot of them seem to have been duped, as a few of them had the same exact items and quantity of each.) There was also a ton of vehicles, like 5 ATVs, a sedan, a few bikes, an UAV, ural, a few others. I decided to raid the tents, which I only grabbed a bunch of STANAG mags from and a guillie because I was pretty geared. I proceeded to use all the STANAG I had to blow up all the vehicles. Then I took the UAV and ran all the tents over with it, then blew that up. I left one ATV for my getaway. As I'm heading back south I stopped on the road to check the map. Suddenly I hear a vehicle approaching from the direction of the camp I just left. It was an off road truck. A chase ensued but I easily escaped as the truck had no chance in the trees against the ATV. I ran out of gas a few minutes later. As I'm running back north a little ways to the nearest gas station(about the time the chaser would have arrived back at the camp to see it in ruin), I get the "No message received for 10 seconds" message which was the server going down. There was no warning of a restart or admin message. I try to log back on and see that the server indeed did go down and was restarting. Server comes back up, I reconnect, get gas, and decide to go back to the camp to see what was up.(yeah, I know) As I approach, I see everything was in tact and was back to the way it was before I destroyed it. I sat there a few seconds and decided, fuck it, I'll go blow it up again. I found out the hard way that ATVs cant destroy tents. As I get off to bandage, I'm sniped, broken leg but still alive. I roll around for a bit before I'm finished off by the sniper. Long story short, there's some douche bags hoarding vehicles and tons of goodies in the location described above. And they were obviously butt hurt that their shit got destroyed so they rolled back the server or something. I don't know if this is possible for an admin to do. According to the sticky it apparently isn't, but I'm not convinced. So I say to you fine people, go rape and pillage these hacker's/douche bag admin's camp. Its easy to get to. Take the furthest west road on the map that goes north to the end of the map, turn east when it ends and you'll see it in the trees.

I was browsing the Internet as usual today...still a bit hungover from Friday night, when one of my friends sent me a message on Steam chat. He was in Myshkino, and told me that there were two vehicles. I should preface the rest of the story with the fact that we were on "US FoE" which appears to be run by the "Fist of the Empire" clan. As soon as I logged into the server, my friend Bert informed me that he had just killed a bandit that had been watching one of the vehicles. I was actually running from the Balota airstrip. I checked to see if any car parts were in the side building, but I didn't find any. I did however find an AKM. I left the airstrip and headed NW towards Bert. At this point, our other friend Josh logged in since he had just gotten Bert's distress call. Josh met up with Bert before I could. I was outside Zelenogorsk when I heard footsteps. I went prone just in time to see another player walking right past me. I pumped him full of AKM rounds, and of course, he ALT-F4'd. During all of this, Bert was killed by an [FOE] clan member who had a FAL. We all finally make it back to Myshinko, and Josh kills two of the clan members. This worked out well because one of them had a DMR. Josh (who is our sniper) geared up, and got higher ground in the surrounding forest. I began searching for car parts to repair the vehicles, and Bert positioned himself in a barn close by for backup. At this point, the REAL action begain... A UAZ jeep full of [FOE] members pulls up. Two men in ghillies get out of the vehicle and go prone, all the while their other members surrounded the area. From here, I stop searching for parts and head back. Josh sees one scanning the tree line with binoculars, so he kills him. The guy who I originally had shot up, logs in and bleeds out so I get my murder somehow. The other ghillie fellow gets back in the UAZ, and literally pulls up quite close to Josh. They almost kill Josh, but somehow he manages to snipe two more. Josh bandages, applies morphine, and eats some to regain blood while hiding behind the UAZ. Bert tries to get the jump on the last ghillie fellow, but is killed. Things were looking quite grim, but since Bert had distracted him, Josh decided to make a bold move to take the UAZ and escape. As soon as they notice, about seven other players show themselves and begin firing at what was their UAZ. I don't know how we all ended up making it out of there, but we did. The jeep was full of M107s, Bizons, frags, various rifles, and other supplies. After all of this, the server starts to lag pretty heavily (...but I don't know if they were doing this on purpose or not). Eventually, we were overwhelmed on the coast, and [FOE] was able to take back most of what was theirs to begin with.... This was probably the most epic battle on DayZ I have been involved in to date. Josh (aka brownclown) was magnificent at sniper. I think as a group we ended up with around ten murders, and a great deal of loot. Thanks for the fun times and lulz "Fist of the Empire" haha! And it just goes to show you...an unprepared clan of ten or more is no better than a group of three with decent skills...

Just at the top of Zub having a look around with my binocs and I see one of the Gunz4Hire clan members crouch walking into a town. I only had an M4 CCO but I thought it would be funny to fire a few rounds (they would never have hit it's such a huge distance) and freak them out. I fired about 7 shots and got my binocs out to have a look. All the zombies were gone. Hmmm. Check the name list and they had left the server. Lame lame lame! I saw what I assumed was the G4H clan rocking around in 2 vehicles prior and I was trying to track them. Can't remember what the G4H members name was exactly but I won't be going on their server again!
-
I have found a few repairable ATV's that are not on any of the maps. Most of the maps out there cut off like 2 rows of grids on the top and there are some spawns up there. I've found several vehicles people have hid but been looking specifically for some of the military offroads and gaz's.

Vehicle count per server?
BanditoTheBandit replied to Nadasdy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I would say in the maybe 10 or lower range. This is including all vehicles as in bikes too haha -
There's tons of vehicles that spawn and aren't shown on the map at all. Just need to keep looking, once you get the hang of finding vehicles you'll pretty much always have them.
-
I searched the forums and google and couldnt find any information. Is there a certain amount of vehicles that can be active on the server at one time? I've heard people tossing around like 30 or so as if they heard it somewhere. Server I play on the majority I've seen about 15 including bicycles and searched the entire in game map with a few friends and found pretty much nothing which makes me believe there can be a small amount or people are still storing vehicles off map and just moving them once a day to avoid the 24 hour inactive despawn.

SUGGESTION: Character Development (Backstory and Talent/Skill System)
OW22 replied to petward's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Ok, I want to say murder and companionship are bad skill ideas (as you proved in your post) but I also want to say something else. Here is the main idea: People want to balance out what people can do. Not everyone can repair vehicles, ride in a helicopter, and operate guns with absolute ease. Fix it. That's all. I might have missed some points, so add some if you like. Right now, I don't see anything I missed, but I'm not thinking that hard. Just wanting to tell people that what people suggest here is not THE way, just trying to get some form as to how this would all work, because if it did, I bet a LOT of people would like it. -
I also find more enjoyment in scouting for other's camps. However I suggest more running/driving around one server as that is actually legit. I do it all the time when I play and I find a lot of camps (less vehicles lately, though). <-To be fair, though, I play a lot of hours each day. Had I only spent ~3 hours a day playing, then I would likely be a lot less lucky with my finds. But when I do find camps, it's usually more or less a birthday party with NVG's, GPS's, camos, ghillies and top tier weapons. That is why I do it rather than go die at barracks or Stary. I'm done with those half-raids :P I play solo usually. Don't have to server-hop. Exploring--while slow--is a fun part of the game. Biggest downside is the map feels smaller and you lose the sensation of finding new locations after a while. Can't wait for underground structures and/or a bigger map. Also, about the ethical part of hopping: it's quite unfair to raid someones camp and moving to the next server. It eliminates the "resident's" ability to protect his camp or hunt the scavenger down. I experienced this the other day. I had raided a camp west of Kamenka (it had a lot of goodies and some car parts/fuel cans) and was peddling onwards, bearing NW, when a car comes from my opposite direction (probably the owner of the camp, considering the fuel cans, etc). Needless to say he quickly came to a halt and started unloading at me, while I zig-zag'ed as fast and hard as I could while the bullets where planted everywhere around my tyres. I escaped alive and without a single bullethole in me or my bike as his car was no match in the forests and plains to my bicycle. Thank the stars there is no stamina system implemented yet :P
-
Oh sweet! I've yet to find any vehicles. I'd love to get the bike though :D or a tractor.. just for shiggles.
