  1. Dear Rocket, First and foremost I just wanted to thank you and your team for this experiment. It is truely one of a kind. I would like to take this time to throw you some suggestions and more importantly my feedback. Let me start off with my feedback. I have been playing DayZ for just a short time but I feel I really grasp the entire model you are shooting for and I happen to absultely LOVE IT! There are pleanty of action oriented survival/zombie apoc games out there but nothing like this hardcore pure survival angle you are taking! I absolutley love how this is extreamly emersive (sandboxy) and you truely feel alone. I love how we the players take full charge of our future and how the game design makes me long for a trustworthy team to play along side me. I am extremely interested in the survival aspect of DayZ instead of the fun, action oriented, arcade style games that are out there now. I would like to see DayZ remain a hardcore survival simulator before anything else, where players have to sit at the edge of their seats the entire time they are playing, trust no one, and need someone. I want this to remain a game where the risk is extreamly high, but the reward is much higher. I want to feel desolated and removed from civilization as if mankind is on the verge of extinction. I want to get angry and have to think like a scientist in order to be successful and say TO HELL WITH FUN! Now, please, let me drop some suggestions..... Trade/Barder system I enjoy how "real" or "legit" this experiment feels. I love how you took a hard core survival concept and implimented it into a Zombie Apocolyps instead of any other end of days senario. The zombies are all we need to bring the "fun" into this "hardcore" title. With that said, I would suggest steering away from a trade system where players trade like in Diablo for example and retain the hardcore system we have now where we have to trust those we are in company of. I think we should keep it simple like it is, yet hardcore where we must drop (or "hand") and item to our friend in exchange for somthing or give them permission (verbally) to go into our backpack and fetch it themselves. Group Play This is survival, not party time. Group play in my opinion is perfect just the way it is for the most part. Some suggestions I would say would be "ok" to impliment to make it a little bit easier to play with friends would be: (of course some of these will have to wait for your stand alone DayZ) -A system where a group of friends can join a server, create a group (party), then create their characters and spawn in the same general location. -Ability so when my friends get on (as long as we are keeping the servers privately owned) they can just click on my name in a friends menu and join the server I am currently in. -I do love how once your character is created, you have to rendezvous with your friends by trying to figure out where they have spawned and use your tools and brane to get to them. Chat I dont think there should be chat at all except for voice chat to players who are close enough to hear you and text chat to players who are close enough where they would be able to hear you. (Just the way it is now is great :)) Tools Ok, you already have all of the hard core environmental/physical tools in place. Temperature/Thirst/Hunger/Blood and you already have how the environment and your actions effect them. We already have many tools for basic survival. Compass/knife/hatchet/matches/map/parts/vehicles/etc. Some other tools that would be great are (unless they're here and I have not found them yet): -Bunker (A way to build a small bunker where you and your company can store food/water/materials and defend it against opposing forces. -Generator (a generator you can have set up so long as you have gas for it to power different tools such as lighting around your bunker that has X amount of slots which you plug power cords into) -High Intensity Lights (requires power cord and Generator) -Power Cords (see above) -Boards (used to block off rear enterances and other enterances into buildings you may want to hunker down in for a while or block windows so people can not snipe you from outside) -Wildlife (more wildlife for hunting purposes) -Katana (because I really want one in this game. Oh yeah, the sword, not the bike.) -Tracking devices (so we can track our teamates on our map when we split up) Ok I am not very creative but I love how this game makes me feel like if I try hard my reward will be amazing!   2. I was banned on that server for hopping, but all I was doing was leaving on restarts. Ohh well, what they did it low and completely wrong for the spirit of the game. They refused to accept losses and restarted the server over and over to keep their vehicles/gear. To bad we know where their new camp is.
  3. from what i've seen the logs will show an x,y co-ordinate when the player logs in, but as mentioned, that x,y co-ordinate is totally different to a dayz map grid reference, pretty useless info for trying to locate players / vehicles.
  4. We've restarted a few times and the vehicles wouldn't despawn. We know it was you guys, but that person you just quoted is not one of us. And also, we don't really care.

    Totally agree, there are immature people everywhere. I just cringe when I see people commenting on their character and the first brag they have is how many murders they've got. Not how long they survived, what awesome gear, vehicles etc. Just "I SHOT 19 NOOBS WIF MAH DMR. U MAD?"

    US 927 admin abuse Ban.

    We don't kick for killing admins or clan players. In fact, we enjoy going into hostile areas to fight and we don't worry about dying, most of us enjoy starting over its probably the most fun part of the game. We like players that aren't afraid to fight as well. We caught your clan members numerous times d/c'ing to avoid combat (while multiple admins were on as witness, check the player lists and server logs at the time of incident), and when they rejoin the server, you've moved away from the area and logged back in to dodge fights. As for your other allegations, they are empty lies. I'd expect your clan to back them up, because your clan seems to have no trouble dodging fights. Keep doing it, somewhere else. We also don't want all the vehicles. In fact, we have no problem shooting at and destroying other vehicles where as most people just want to horde them all. We are terrible at keeping vehicles up and running. Also, none of our members have been killed by Gitan members. They have shot at us, but d/c when we shoot back. You have yet to stick around to have a good fight. As for my understanding, its only a temporary ban anyway. As for littlepeter, I've spoken to almost all the admins and no one has banned you or even seen you on the server. Is you IG name different? There's hundreds of servers online, just hope you don't get caught on one of the many others that enforce the same policies, or you'll find Gitan clan on the blacklist. We kick for hacks and exploits only. Logging out to avoid combat/death is an exploit. Go ahead, do it, if you're caught, goodbye.

    US 85 admins cheating/hacking

    You were flying on the helis and that is already called "hacking" if you are using hacked items and not reporting them/destroying them. You were also talking to few of my friends mine and you were trying to bribe my friends with guns so they wouldn't tell anyone about your little "Base" and you were threatening people on your own website that they shouldn't come 1000m closer to the island. Also if the items on your island aren't yours, why are you protecting them and restarting the server/kicking them from the server if people make their way to the island? You should destroy ALL of the hacked items and not be protecting them, i got shot on the island when i made my way there to DESTROY them with grenades, so what the f*? We also heard you have another base in the map with full of vehicles, we will be making a lot of attacks to your server to find your hacked items and destroy ALL of them.

    IDEAS FOR A BETTER DAYZ!!!

    1. body armor- head armor - chest armor - shoulders and leg armor. The longer you play the more protection you get against player killers but at the expense of movement speed. If you get so lucky to find them. Each piece of armor you find has a -% reduction and can can add up with a full set.-------- I like half of this idea i am all for armor but i dont think movement speed should be affected, i just think it should be very very rare like a .009 chance of spawning and it would not have a crazy amount of protection out of it. 2. More skins - a little more diversity so we don't accidentally shoot one of our own when someone tries to blend into a group because everyone looks the same.----- all for it a good idea and something tells me you shot your teammate lol. 3. Shovels can be used for digging a hole to bury your items for long term storage. If your good at using a map it should be easy to refind.------------- that is a good idea but i think that when you use the shovel it has to stay in the ground marking where you buried the items so that something you buried is not completely unfindable by anyone else and so you can only use it once. 4. limbs can be taken off zombies kinda like in dead space. and can only be 1 shot with a head shot. This would only work if teleporting was fixed.----------- ummmm i guess i would rather stay where it is because i dont awalys aim for the head soo ya i do think it would be kind of cool tho. I would like the idea if you can still kill with body shots. 5. Slow the rate that zombies can move but increase their numbers.----------- ummmm no because i LOVE when zombies case me all the way across the map. 6. Fix the Z's animations so when your close range fighting with they dont jump around you like a vampire or neo would and dodge your bullets.----------- i completely agree with you on that one 7. When stuck in an animation like bandaging or throwing, it would be great to stop the animation so you can react to incoming gunfire or two zombies that appeared out of nowhere.-------------completely agree on this one as well 8. If your throwing a gernaid, flare or tin can have a reticle on the screen so you can see generally where your going to throw it.--------- i think the same 9. I agree that the sight aggro radius is a little unrealistic for a zombie. Instead of such a long sight aggro radius maybe you can add a different mechanic like smell. if rain washes off your stench then your more susceptible to aggro.------- I agree that there should be a smell sense but i think the less you smell the better. 10.Restrict how quick a player can switch from server to server say you have to be in one server for at least 30 minutes before you can enter another one without a wait timer. the more you switch servers the longer the wait timer adds 5 mins for switching too quick 10 for another quick switch etc etc. you are still able to instantly connect to your original server.----------- I guess this is a good idea in idea form but what if someone is haveing a problem where they can not play on a server so they leave then they have to wait 5 mins. Also I dont think arma 2 can do that, maybe the 6-launcher can. 11.Thermal optics should never be allowed on a gun. From what i understand they were taken out but it might make sence for something like thermal sight that would take up several slots of your inventory much like what swat teams would use. Thermal optics and a large case takes up space. They are heavy and cumbersome but can be used really well to plan out an indoor attack. from personal experiance you have to keep them still and looking at one location for a few seconds before you get a picture of whats there.--------- Completely disagree, tho i do get that they are heavy 12.The ability to actually completly board up a building with wood and bars from scrap metal. Large groups of players can completly take over a part or an entire city. of course they could be retaken by using an axe to chop the wood off or just by shooting it.---------- ummmm i think rocket tried something like this and it was to glichly so he was not going to put it in the game. 13.Add a grouping option so you can choose to spawn near your team mate with a penalty to something like 50% blood for 5-10-15 mins, this effect might be similar to a deserter debuff on a mmorpg for leaving a pvp area.----- i dont get what you saying here. 14. Why are broken down vehicles so rare? if you were in a city there should be tons of vehicles to repair. I would think it would be better to make them spawn more just completely broken down. 15. Rare spawn shovels can be used for digging holes so you can either use it for cover while defending a position or to bury your items. 16. TRAPS and LOTS of VARIETY!!!-------------------- alll for it

You will have your own base, vehicle and you will recruit your own members as you see fit but you will still be considered USS. You squad will function Bravo squad, to my Alpha. Our Goal? Better our chances of survival by having brothers in arms. Protect whats ours at all costs and and better each other for the long run. Who are we? We are a mature group/clan based on DayZ. We recently departed from a falling apart group to form our own mature group of skilled players. We currently have 6 highly skilled professional members. We have plenty of guns and vehicles at our disposal and a few well hidden large bases. This is a expert level clan.We are based on trust and friendship, you will have to go through a few trials with us before you're in. USS Alpha Squad Current Stats Zombie Kills: 13,000+ Bandit Kills: 197 Murders: 58 We are also a squad based group, that means we will have a few roles... Leader- Plans supply runs and raids, navigates, commands other group member Medic- Carries extra medical supplies, heals group member Infantry- Basic infantry, stays close to the leader uses a variety of guns Sharpshooter- Sniper/ scout, keeps track of players in the game, stays far out.     new feature: military

    Someone made a suggestion similar to this about having small convoys or soldiers (on foot or in vehicles) that just kill all Zombies and players alike, whiping out anything. But! If you and your clan are strong enough you can kill the 5+ soldiers for an amazing stash of loot including 5+ weapons, lots of supplies and a vehicle or two :)
  12. Do you have a steam account if so add me CrunchyBacon1981 I have located an ATV and a red car both on different servers though. And to answer your question vehicles are server specific. You cant take a vehicle from one server to another.

Hey, Yes they returned after we stopped the server and rebooted it, sometimes after a reboot the database isn't correctly loaded and tents/cars disappear so we have to reboot it until it loads properly. We try to check if tents and vehicles are loaded after a reboot, but sometimes we can't, and until we check them it can take some time. We check the forum from time to time if we aren't online so post it if you see tents weren't loaded (vehicles are more complicated since they could have been stolen or destroyed). http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_UTC.aspx My guess is your time is UTC+2. Absolutely nothing, we as admins can't deal with that matter with a ban. DayZ rules state that avoiding death by disconnecting is an exploit but Admins can't ban for it, if we do so we risk the server being blacklisted. *shrugs* Seriously? We still see many issues with it. At UTC 20:20 the server restarted on its own and we don't know why. Still having issues with zeds not moving, etc.. though that's Hive related.

    I went to the top of the tower and looked down onto the 2 buildings. well, you know the little 1 story building? i watched as 12 zeds started walking out of that building, THRU the door that doesnt open, kinda like they were glitching, then i happen to look straight down, you know the 2 ruined military vehicles there? they were in factory condition WITH the rear canopy intact, also they were parked beside each other and the mass grave was gone, i thought it was something new in the patch so i ran down as fast as i could. When i got to the bottom, there were no zeds, the vehicles were in their normal blowd' up state, and the graves were back. Thats when i realized it was silent, no birds.., no wind. Sometimes i wish i had died that day.

    yeah the hacking is bad, ive researched them. God mode, esp, spawnable weapons, vehicles...basically anything and everything you can think of is being done on a daily basis...and as soon as a new beta or BE version comes out...the hack is down for a day or two and the hacks get revised and re-released...people are paying for these dam hacks too. People are making money off of ***ers. its sad. Some of the smart ones are cheating and will never get caught cus they limit there cheats to only showing players on map...or maybe just spawning ammo in there inventory. The idiots are the ones who spawn weapons crates, vehicles by the dozen...yada...yada...yada.. So some of these guys you will never notice
  16. Yes, thats the way I see it. And maybe NPC's arent the answer, I think tools as you put it for the players to do it themselves, is a much better idea. I'm not looking for a way to punish 'bandits'. BTW - 'Bandits' are no longer a 'class' in this game, there are no mechanics, and the use of that terminology to justify a style of gameplay as a forgone conclusion, or intent of the developer, is just, an opinion. The heartbeat indicator is simply killers nerves indicator, it is not a 'class'. I'm interested in finding a way to make the game feel like there is more too it, than: Step one: learn to avoid zombies. Step two: play COD deathmatch. My contention is that when your only options are looting weapons, and vehicles, and your only challenge left, is killing players, the game SUBLIMINALLY encourages, a simpletons, serial killer, endgame. thats all there is? I think this game deserves MORE than those two steps. It has alot of potential. The first part of the game, involves alot of learning, and interesting decisions. Once you get past the learning curve though, COD deathmatch, because there's nothing else to do/challenge you? really? Well, what if you had to THINK about that murder, and when and where you did it? THAT was my point - adding complexity to the end game model. I'm not talking about 'punishing anyone'. If you read my original post closely, you might even notice, that I even left room for 'wrong info' provided by npc's, based on what they saw.... But as the guy above said, yeah, i'm fine with eliminating the npc idea, but I still say this game needs more complexity, past the 'zombie learning curve'...

    CGU CLAN HAS RIGGED SERVER 450!!!

    Alright thats enough. First. And this will likely get this thread deleted or me warned or both. The tents are a known issue. I have reported them to the devs, and they are not OUR tents. We found them just like you did. I have driven over them, emptied them, etc. And still they return. Though I got some practice on your tents last night on how to temporarily solve the issue of that military gear flooding my server. So I will be taking care of that tonight. Though I expect that theres likely to be people waiting to kill me instead of letting me make those tents stay empty. Thanks for that btw. Second, the vehicles is another bug. They also don't keep "respawning up there" we moved them there yesterday. Third, Visigothian stopped the truck on the road and got out to confront me, stupid move if you ask anyone and I shot him up good. He combat logged. I took my truck back from you, and surprise, surprise the server promptly crashed. Vehicle reverted somewhere and it sure as hell wasnt that hill. Unless a seriously injured Visigothian got back up there before I did. Fourth, now today we have a hacker targeting our members on our server, that together with the sudden server reset last night seems a tad suspisious guys. But Oh happy day. I got plenty of practice making sure tents don't respawn all their hardware on reset when I found your camp last night, after staying up all night searching. The debug line, really? So I know how Butthurt you guys are after the loss of your gear, and at me recovering my truck for a SECOND time in one night. But thats no excuse for hacking. Rest assured the logs will be sent in and people will be banned. And hey if a dev does check this out, I would LOVE one of them to completely reset the map on my server because these bugs have absolutely FLOODED my server with high end military hardware. I unfortunately do not have that level of control over the server. So if I can't do that, how the hell could I rig all that.
  18. Most vehicles are hoarded or hidden well. Best chance to find is go looking on/off map on western northern boarders. Vehicles will only spawn after being destroyed or during cleanups (they did an off map cleanup that made allot re-spawn but taken by now). I am not sure if the offmap clean-ups were 1 time or ongoing. Most people probably just hid them again off map if it was 1 time. When they do that they are usually out of normal walking range (would need to much water/food they just drive way out with extra gas.

    There's a clan called {CQF} almost 100 members and strong subordination. Don't really get what's the point of collecting all the vehicles by clan to use them only for video and streams, making group screenshots around.. like a fucking totem.. or comming to Airfield in group of 25 people.. like half of the server are friendlies.. that might be fun for a while.. but.. that's all in all stupid, no adrenaline, cause you always have ur ass covered from anything. Also subbordination.. well I can't judge - someone just likes to play a marine or soldier, for me the game should remain game, not a job =p So yeh, we've seen them few times, so 2 of us were able to shoot 16 of them, like 5 of them disconnected, flanked us on the other server, re-logged and killed right after.
  20. Your position and gear will be saved if you join another server (vehicles and tents will only stay in that server). One thing to notice is that there are official and private servers. Playing on official servers (connected to the DayZ hive) means your character will be saved across all the other official servers. Playing on a private server means your character will only be saved in that server, making you stuck there. Pay attention to what server you join! :thumbsup:

    Yes your status is saved when you leave the game, at least for your inventory, tents are server sided, not sure about vehicles...
  22. I think once the major bugs are hashed out that some new content such as new vehicles would be pretty sweet to add to the game. I'm thinking police cars that have the Euro siren, fire trucks with water hoses that can knock players unconcious. Also it would be cool if non lethal weapons were found in the game to render people unconcious, force them to lower weapon for 10 seconds, or blurry vision (tazers/stun guns, rubber bullets, tear gas). I think these would reduce the amount of kill on sight that occurs to people just running into each other randomly and can set up more situations for bandit robbery and not just kill em and loot em.
  23. Well, interesting to see the response. I find those with the angry tone, a little telling. I'm not saying that my original post idea is great, it needs work, may not even be viable. I guess though what I'm trying to address is, something lacking in this game, once you get passed learning how to survive, which, devolves into pretty much pvp ONLY, because there is really not much else to do, and with your only tools being essentially WEAPONS, your kinda encouraged into a serial player killer mentality. I would like to see: More skins - visual uniqueness and variation is really subpar in this game basically non-exsistant - PVP is rediculous when everyone looks like a clone of the guys youve been running next to for weeks. More tools - Sandbox? What sandbox? You call it a sandbox because it doesnt have quests, or npc's? Bullshit. You cant build anything, you cant craft anything, your only focus past surviving is looting weapons and occasional vehicles, and killing players, because its frankly the only challenge left. Sandbox? lol (Yes I know they are looking at tools - you dont need to inform me of the post about underground stuff etc) Maybe more vehicles? Seems everyone loves their vehicle adventures, no reason not to have more, and it would seem a bit more realistic I think... I dunno, I just think this game needs something more than it becoming COD, once youve learned how to avoid the zombies. In COD, there was a world war going on. In Dayz, its an epidemic, affecting a society that otherwise until that point, was murdering each other with military grade automatic weapons, for kicks, and a rather abbreviated loot list. See the problem there? Am I wrong? Gota better idea? I'm not trying to ram any idea down anyones throat, as some people here seem to think, - I'm just thinking outloud, and wanting to discuss, improve the game, and even change my mind based on objective criticism, But this game really DOES to me, seem to lack something, once the 'newness' of bieng scared shitless of surviving, wears off a little. I can do the COD thing, sure, but, it just seems like there could be so much more - simular in flavor to the 'woah!' factor you get at the beginning of the game. Once your past that right now, it feels somewhat much more typical, and unrealized. So, ideas?
  24. If the hosting is anything like hosting vanilla arma games then no, they cannot see the location of players or vehicles, but they have access to mission files yes? They can see spawns and propably with little luck anyone can find players stash. I once decided to ride my bike to northeast :D I just looked at my compass and went on and on until I stumbled into a huge tent city at the edge of map filled with weapons and 2 cars, and there were no one guarding them at the moment so I might have taken a thing or two from the tents :P
