Me and friends have been on this server for a while and tonight hackers came in spawning vehicles and weapons. Ruined everything.
-
Me and a rl buddy have been playing dayz for a bit now and have become pretty proficient at finding vehicles, weapons, downed choppers and surviving. We in-vision a camp set up with multiple tents a few cars, and a good group of active players to keep our gear protected. We like high population servers and generally play veteran 3d:1 ch:0 np:0 servers. We use skype, but have vent and, team speak as well. Let me know if you're interested and we will group up.

lost another car, what a waste of time
Nashy08 replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, people with vehicles tend to have some decent loot, so they didn't attack you for nothing. They attacked you for your shiny toys. -
Could be he nuked def the nw airfield and a buddy said there are prob hacked vehicles near stary... looks like its not just one hacker... btw a heli was just spotted -_- if you re in this server get out, u will die.

So... none of my friends are on... I decide, "Guess I'll play solo for a bit" I join up on a server and there's a downed heli right infront of me. Nothing decent (mk240 mod 0 w/o Ammo), I move on. 150m down the road - Another downed helicopter - FN Fal + 1 mag, I leave it. 20m away is a little red car in very usable condition. I drive it for about 15 seconds when I spot an ATV near a tree! I tuck the little car away in the forest and then loot the atv (tons of guns and stuff, but none that I wanted) so then I tucked the ATV in a another forest. "Server is restarting in 2 minutes!" says the server. I leave and take a 15 minute break and return to the server. I log in, and sitting infront of me is a downed helicopter (fresh restart) - I Take a bison sd, and 5 mags from this chopper. I leave an FN Fal + 2 mags that were also on that chopper My quick run to the southeast barracks of the NW airfield proved uneventful, and not worth the couple minutes that it took. On my way to Kabanino I'm searching through the fields and I see another freaking downed chopper. I stock up on medical supplies, but don't pick up any of the 20 stanag + 10 stanag SD mags from the ammunitions box. So far, I'm feeling pretty damn lucky, and pretty damn good. Something this great has never happend to me! 2 vehicles, 4 choppers, great guns, all in a 30 minute timespan? No way! Anywho, I travel about 350m southeast and I pass kabanino, I'm in a field that I was pretty sure I had seen choppers spawn in from previous weeks of playing, but I thought surely... after all of this... no way, my head would fucking explode. Yet... There int he middle of the field, sat another downed helicopter!!! My heart is racing. I've never had luck like this. I had found 3 of the 5 chopper spawns on this server, all after a fresh restart! So I leg it over real quick and start looting. This is when I wish I had friends on... because I found an AS50 (had one in my bag already) and an L85A2 AWS... yea... If only a buddy was there to hold that AS50 and Bison for me, but alas I dropped a couple medical supplies from the previous chopper and I am currently holding the L85, Bison, and AS50 so that I can give my buddy one of them! All in all, this is one of the best dayz of DayZ I will ever have. I know rule #1 of this game is not to get attatched to your gear, and I won't, but who doesn't love finding this stuff? x) I never would have thought that one day I would have to choose between such juicy loot, but holy shit was it an incredible feeling to see 5 choppers

Ah, one of the worst parts of DayZ; being spoilt for choice, lucky finds though man, what did you do with the vehicles afterwards? -
Clan locking server ..to farm gear ... ?
mrducky (DayZ) replied to puppetmaster11's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Obviously locking servers if its done to loot is just plain cheating... Yet... Unless it's for hoarding vehicles, I don't really see why bother with the server locking. Considering that, for example, right now with a new arma beta version being out again - and apparently backwards incompatible - there are dozens of unlocked public servers that have maybe one player playing on them. It's not like the clan could not just join on one of those to loot in relative safeness. They would probably scare the lone looter off the server just by joining in. Of course, then they would have to run around on foot to loot that server, rather than use their vehicles, so I guess that's why they don't bother. I dunno. Just seems stupid why anyone would bother with such a cheat when basically empty servers are available for totally legit care-free looting. But maybe people are just really that lazy. -
the server may have disabled vehicles, or you're looking in the wrong place. check this map http://dayzdb.com/map#3.061.076

Spread The Word: Hacker Awareness
[email protected] replied to acebane's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
naah she is all for people locking their server to gather all vehicles and weapons and such, so do not believe in this post. Anyways Ace, good video, we might get a server soon so we will use these ideas. -
DayZ: A neat game with no endgame
Bill Murray replied to Glythe's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
1) The infected are modified animals, not civilians. Even if they added the ability to play as a zombie and you somehow became a zombie liuetenant with the ability to command other zombies, they don't take orders. They aren't standard AI. They are modified animals. 2a) The previous bandit system didn't work very well. How do you tell someone is truly a bandit? When we had the bandit skins, bandits would team up and shoot each other then give each other transfusions to raise their humanity and remove the bandit skin. And survivors would kill in self-defense and end up appearing to be a bandit. We need a better way to determine who is actually a bandit before tagging people as such. 2b) AI characters that kill bandits/protect survivors are exactly what Rocket said he didn't want to do. That would be the game making a judgement on how players choose to play. Rocket doesn't want the game to judge people for their play style. 3) There's great loot all over the map. The barracks at NWAF is the only place that doesn't spawn the same things as every other military loot point (tents, deer stands, etc) and people mainly go there to try for NVGs. Also, the best weapons seem to come from Helicopter crashes all across the map. 4) I agree that there should be more vehicles. I've only been in a few and have yet to find one that I can claim as my own. 5) Loading times vary. Lately it has been going pretty quick for me. -
The Game you Just Bought (For people new to Arma 2)

true, i did this, i jumped in died.. a lot, surprisingly as oppose to some other games the boot camp in Arma 2 goes into quite some detail, i also play about in the showcase scenarios it helps get used to the weapons and vehicles. nothing would suck more then repairing a helicopter to crash it after take off -
Possible hacking on US 5 (unrepentant)
jesquik replied to harken (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I've lost more L85s than you're probably ever going to see. I have a strange attraction to high powered weapons and the tents of other people. I find all kinds of things roaming around the world thinking to myself 'where would I hide my stuff.' Also roaming the server on vehicles looking for heli crashes after server restarts never hurts. Another thing that doesn't hurt: When you steal something from another person's camp, don't disconnect 8 minutes later. I have never successfully secured anything from any other competent group without spending 30 minutes creeeping in and 30 minutes gtfo'ing. I would feel pretty stupid if I stumbled upon a white pickup (The easiest thing in the game to spot), drove it 400m and ran around looking to get shot only to escape with half my team dead AND THEN only drive SOUTH for 10 minutes before thinking I was safe.... You have a lot to learn about this game before beta. Also, regarding hacking.... we don't hack. I play this game and test a variety of exploits in an attempt to uncover what other people are doing to fuck up the game. I report anything that I find. If you are intent on criticizing everyone as hackers, please leave, let the adults test this game, and come back when mom can buy it for you at Gamestop. -
For those who want to know what DayZ would be like if it ACTUALLY was an MMO, just wait a bit. "The War Z" seems to fill that cliche very nicely. I've got $10 saying the game bombs and the next list of features listed in the game will be features literally ripped straight out of dayz. http://www.pcgamer.c...llels-to-day-z/ I can't believe how identical they look, it's a shame they are probably going to murder the genre and just give plenty of ideas for dayz to steal. AKA i'd love to mow down zombies with a vehicle...gotta be able to find one first though. Regaurdless. You run in dayz for 30+ minutes non stop, not being able to toggle it is just asinine and to be honest there really isn't a single LOGICAL or "good point" to argue against having this feature added. It's non-invasive and saying other wise is just you hating the world and anyone who doesn't worship opinions outside of rocket. It could be as simple as many of the other hotkeys. You can toggle tilt left or right by double tapping, you can toggle run/walk with double shift why not toggle run with Double W? [Yes i know Double W is Sprint while normal W is Jog, but sprint only lasts like 3 seconds until you start jogging out of breath] Edit: Everyone above me didn't read any of the previous posts in this thread, disregaurd all their posts. Saying "No auto run the map is too small" is the dumbest argument/debate against adding this feature you can come up with. As stated in the paragraph above this, having auto run in this game causes not a single player to lose anything. It would be a hotkey to bind, nobody would force you to fucking bind it. Just because you enjoy holding down W for 30 minutes at a time or have the entire servers vehicles stacked in a corner doesn't mean everyone else wants to do the same thing. Again, this is a fucking game. I dont hold W to walk in real life, i don't walk through fields carrying an m16 and shooting everything that moves. So whether or not your char runs at the speed of light or as fast as a fart i should be able to toggle auto run. That way if i'm going to sit for 30 minutes i can do it holding ALT and looking around while getting ready to hit the floor without worrying about taping my fingers up to avoid blisters, like a 12 hour N64 Joystick Super Smash Brothers marathon. BTW, if you guys are going to keep coming up with the dumbest reasons in the world NOT to add a single key bind i'm sure i can come up with 1,000 good reasons supporting it for each dumb reason you came up against it.,,So i repeat, again...it's a KEYBIND, the idea is not to add 25 kill streak nukes, you kids sound like a bunch of vanilla wow mongrels or the entire Diablo 3 forums nostalgia circle jerk hate machine. Off-topic: Has anyone else noticed weird movement that happens after you try to come to a stop when running? Like if you were to step left mid sprint your guy does some weird double side step? It's kinda like the sprint to prone animation except you push A or D.

You need to live a little if you think this is a good game. It encourages extremely greedy play. This is in part why you see people running private servers (even though that is against the rules) so they can hoard everything. I killed every player I ran into on my last character who bothered to stick around. That's hardly the mindset of a carebare. I even killed the two who wanted to come with my group. One just needed a little blood. I helped him out by sending him back to the beach and my friend helped himself to a shiny new pistol. What this game boils down to right now is an incredibly small niche. Zombie fans will come and try it... and quickly get bored. Zombies are too trivial too quickly. And they can't find any vehicles to fix much less the parts because people always hoard them. And then the game becomes kill every player you see that isn't on skype/teamspeak/vent/mumble with you. Or you can "create your own gameplay". As for the latter option you can do that with just about any game with depth and that is a pathetic reply. As for the former..... meh I'd just rather play regular Arma.

No. The infected are the catalyst, not the threat. I would agree with making them a bit more difficult overall, as it takes 4-5 minutes tops to get a hatchet and then they are of no consequence short of astronomical bad luck, or poor choices. Wait a minute so what you're saying is you want the scene of a zombie survivor game where the zombies are no threat and the threat comes from other people? That sounds boring. In fact it IS boring as you point out in 5 minutes of work zombies become trivial. I wonder why so many people turn to killing other survivors. "Obviously we need aso need a larger variety of zombies. I'm just going to list a few suggestions" Nope You started your rebuttal by mentioning how quickly zombies become trivial. Explain to me again how that is a good thing? Shouldn't we at least have harder to kill zombies guarding the better loot? Military zombies hardly fill that role. We already have screaming, shrieking infected. It's called all of them. Should it draw more? I think so. And the problem lies in that the screaming does NOT draw more zombies. There should be a "social" zombie activator similar to the lieutenant of Arma. Guess what it's already in the game! All you would have to do is turn it on. In no way should any playstyle be punished. It could be argued that with the rampant KoS trend, that survivors are being punished as things stand now. that however, is not the topic at hand. As I said before punishment (suffering, pain, or loss that serves as retribution) and consequences (something that happens as a result of a particular action or set of conditions) are different. Say your maximum health were reduced for killing a player.... THAT is a punishment. You now have a limitation you cannot avoid under any circumstances. A consequence means you made a choice and you must live with that choice (such as being attacked by soldiers) but it can be avoided. I believe I set the tone of the discussion and I believe as you do right now that survivors ARE being punished right now. 3) Don't have all the best loot in the same place. On this, I agree. But it isn't all in the same place. Heli wrecks and deerstands yeild equal and better loot, and are scattered pretty much everywhere. Deerstands do not give everything that comes from the Barracks. Heli wrecks encourage exploration but people still tend to stagnate towards the NW corner. On that note shouldn't there be a few alive soldiers at the airfield? Perhaps there are, but people KoS them as well, for their lewts. Point made, IF there were, they wouldn't live long. Right, but they would likely take a few players out with them. Have you seen a group of AI soldiers fight in Arma? 4) Arma as a walking simulator is extremely boring If you spend all your time in the woods, I can agree. But that's your choice, not a design flaw. Oh right it's MY choice that everyone hoards vehicles? Care to rephrase that? 5) Loading takes way too long (self explanitory no paragraph needed) Upgrade your rig. The game loads quite reasonably (about 8 seconds for me) so long as you don't get stuck waiting to create character, which is a server > db issue I believe. There are a ton of servers where you can't load in quickly even if you should. Grow a pair of balls and stop trying to mask your butthurt about bandits with overly long, unoriginal posts and suggestions to turn DayZ into fucking L4D. I'm not upset by bandits. I got killed yesterday by one in part because I didn't care. I had a grenade I could have used to kill him through the wall of the building (go arma physics... /lol). He only saw me because the server had blues appear on the map. That's dumb. I don't want this game to be L4D but you have to admit the zombies I described could spice things up a bit no? In 2 hours I got back to where I was gear wise (exactly) except I have a different AK. I even had a nice bike ride that made the travel back to the NW quite fast. And you're still here why? Some people live to grief. You seem to be one of them. I think of myself as an optimist and with regards to this game I was merely thinking this game would be far more interesing with these changes. Perhaps you disagree. At least you took a minute to elaborate which is more than I can say for Cunster. Ooops sorry on that name misspelling.

There's one major bug. After a server restart, sometimes ALL vehicles will not spawn. They won't return until another restart occurs.

Clan locking server ..to farm gear ... ?
Valec replied to puppetmaster11's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
That would be fine if they could only keep their gear on their server. But they can now farm gear without any threat to their safety, then go where they want with their nice shiny gear, after duping the hell out of it. It effects players everywhere they go, instead. It also doesn't allow anyone else a fair shot at the vehicles on that server. So no, I don't agree that they should be able to do whatever they want. Rocket doesn't allow it for very good reason. -
-Increase Primary weapons audio ranges by 50% -Increase zed audio aggro by 50% -Once a player has zed aggro, they get the concussion debuff for 1 minute. If they log out during this time, they are hit with a 6 minute knock out when relogging. REASONS: PvP is rampant because there's literally no consequence for shooting. This needs to change. I enjoy pvp as much as the next guy but it's getting old not having any danger from shooting. Just last night I shot 3 guys with a Lee in Cherno and got ZERO zed aggro. I was shocked! And honestly disappointed that I was in no danger from shooting such a loud gun. Other changes: -Inventory overhaul: Since I've figured out that double clicking works, it's been less of a pain, but it's still a pain. We need a faster way to loot/dump items. -Decrease spawn rate on high grade weapons We all talk about realism in this game. Well, realistically, we'd all mostly only have pistols, shotguns, melee weapons and an occasional auto-rifle in a post-apoc society. Right now, how many of us could just go get an M4 or .50 cal sniper rifle? I know I can go get a pistol or shotgun at the local gun shop though. -Fix the damn ammo bug! This will greatly reduce how much we shoot! This is another big factor of why people pvp. There's no loss of ammo since we can just relog and get 4 full ammo clips again. We all basically have infinite ammo. This is killing the whole immersion and realistic part of the game. -Skins change (optional) based on actions done. Every 1k zombie kills, you get a new skin or something. Same with every 10 player kills, etc. Same with every 5 vehicles fixed, etc. I'll add more ideas later.

Hello fellow Survivors out there. Some friends of mine who are pretty new to DayZ (2-4 Weeks experience) are looking for 2 or 3 more players joining our group. We got everything to theoretically (not deadly shot by bandit, bugs, Patches or broken legs due to zombies/bear traps) infinitely survive. These are: - Weapons with enough ammunition (Lee, AKs, and handguns) - Crossbow for animal and silent killing - Box of matches and hatchet for cooking ofc - Map, Compass and Watch - Food and Drinks (Water Bottles included) - Blood Bags for absolute emergencies (normally we kill an animal, cook and eat the meat afterwards to get blood in the wilderness Where we are: - Anywhere on the map, just contact us and we'll find a spot to meet What we are planning but not quite knowing how to do: - Camp - Finding Vehicles As you can see, we do not have that high requirements but a few we allow us to introduce: - Minimum of 2 Weeks expierence and knowing how to survive (more experienced would be absolutely great actually) - On Meetup not carrying weapons (we will find a spot where you are greatly spottable ,meet there and will shoot if you have/pull out a weapon of any kind , this is ONLY for safety issues, we will not harm you in any way if you do not attack us!.) - Microphone and Teamspeak 3 (Optional: Skype, Steam, Xfire) - Age of 16-24 on join date - Ability to express in an understandable way of English or German - Having fun playing the game - TIMEZONE: Around GMT +1 or playing whilst GMT +1 Time If you meet this requirements and want to join us, then i'll provide you contact data. Steam: earthstamper (Current Nickname: Spiritreader @ Ü MÅD BRØ / in case you cannot find my profile by entering the default name) Teamspeak IP: ts3-081.lan4play.de:11052 If you join our Teamspeak 3 server and i am not available, check back later. I mostly couldnt contact back the members that joined 1-2 times and were never seen again without leaving a reply to this topic or adding me in Steam. Thank you ^_^ What you need to do: PM me that i can contact you back! When you join on Teamspeak contact Spiritreader with a poke or write a message. When you add me in Steam i'll give you Teamspeak data (so you'll end up on TS anyways xD) Tell us your age and your skill level, we are still looking for a squad leader! If you join our Teamspeak and if I'm afk, check back later! Have a nice day / Goodnight

CGU CLAN HAS RIGGED SERVER 450!!!
tophercook (DayZ) replied to Magnumpi99's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I doubt these guyz are cheating. My partner and I have been playing for a while and recently found multiple camps full of gear, we would take the gear , squash the tents; surprise surprise on next server reset tents are up and all gear is back. This is a current glitch and has nothing to do with anyone cheating. To SOLVE this: remove all gear from tent, SAVE TENT EMPTY.... the tent will pop back up if squashed but will be empty upon reset. The glitch for tents and vehicles is solved by remembering to save everytime any gear is removed or added. Anywho, hope that helps clear things up. I am not affiliated with any of the accused or accuser, nor do I play I the involved server. Hope to see you guyz/gals in my crosshairs... till then play safe, don't d/c you just ruin the game for you and others (try growing some nutzzz,, aye? It's just a game...) -
I'd say he has succeeded this is definitely half a game. Ok you have half a point here and I'll counter by saying.... tell me one thing besides the creepy zombie aspect that you can do better in this game than you could just by playing Arma. Medic? nope. Kill other players? nope. Driving/flying around the countryside? nope. Snipers shooting at you from 400m+ is damn scary when you're playing a soldier sim. They may not be zombies but they can have the same resulting fear. And here you are confused. I said it would have consequences not be punished. Killing players would cause soldiers to shoot you on site. That would be a choice you make for becoming a bandit. It isn't a punishment because you can kill soldiers for loot. It isn't a punishment because you still get loot from dead players. It gives you something to do as bandit (this is drastically needed). Having consequences is not the same thing as punishment. So we're back to go here kill any players you see and pickup the loot. And you seem to imply this game had depth? Vehicles cost about 8x as many resources as one soldier zombie (more complex vehicles require more resources of course). Imagine the difference between a world where you say kill him he is a survivor vs.... kill him he's taking the last of the gas from that tanker. Or kill him he has gas cans. I didn't say all I can find to do is kill players. But that is what apparently 90% of the people who play this game seem to want to do. I've offered people help (food/blood/etc) and usually they either run if they don't see me or shoot back if they do.Going back to the idea of consequences don't you think it would shift the I see you I kill you attitude if there were npc soldiers with guns? It might make the atmosphere less "internety" in the sense that you can currendly do whatever you say or what and no one can really do anything about it.

lost another car, what a waste of time
Nihlathak replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Throwing hand grenades at vehicles is one of my favorite passtimes, Im getting pretty good at it! It sounds pretty wasteful, but hell, if i needed the loot i would just search the forests for camps. In reference to the topic, you just gotta start a new adventure. Next time you get a vehicle dont drive it toward unidentified light sources and you will live longer. Even the most dedicated of survivors would probably turn bandit for a car. Thats just a guess on my part, having never really been a survivor, but i think its a good guess. -

Momiji replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Vehicles are probably the best reason to kill out there, since only so many are on a server. Guess you've never been in a group and had your 4-6 vehicles stolen during the night.
