IDK if this thread already exists but it would be cool if people made a list of fun things in DayZ. (also achievement like goals) Also feel free to post Awesome Stories of you doing a few of these (Videos are welcome too) I'll Start with a Few 1. The Zombie Commander Find a Spawn Point near Cherno on a HIGH population server (40ish) Run Sprinting through town gathering as many Zombies as possible (While Screaming over the Mic) and then find the Nearest Camping Sniper and Run for them (Do Zig-Zags so they don't kill you) and make all the zombie swarm them. (Doesn't have to be a sniper but damn I hate the Cherno campers alot) 2. Round 'em Up Run through ANY town (with an enterable building) and have a friend or 2 inside the building camping with an Assault Rifle/Machine Gun. Round up all the zombies in town then let your friends gun down the zombies. (Not fun if you do it to much or if douche bags are watching) 3. Back Axed Sneak up on a sniper and kill them with a hatchet (add an apache war cry for lolz over the mic) Likely would work best if you had an idiotic friend willing to run out in the middle of field on a high pop server near cherno or elektro, and find muzzle flashes. OR you can have a friend look for one at a distance and then sneak up on them. 4. Pickpocket Simply sneak up on a dude and take stuff out of their back pack, AND ESCAPE. (Good luck, will likely only work on the oblivious or afk people.) 5. Rebirth Killed your first zombie 6. Killed in cold blood Killed your first survivor 7. An eye for an eye Killed your first bandit 8. Destruction Derby Get at least 2 vehicles, 1 friend, and drive into each other until one or both vehicles stop working. (Don't use Helio's for this, and please use civilian cars)

New Server no Vehicles Spawned

Here is my secret :) http://www2.picturepush.com/photo/a/8684080/img/Anonymous/dayz-vehicles-spawns-%28wiki%29.png -
When you have 12 people in a group doing vehicles searches it's pretty easy :P

I will never be a bandit. Survivor nice-guy stories
Deathcall replied to IroquoisPliskin (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A sad story. I logged on at my camp west of the IAF to find my Toyota Hilux, Sedan and UAZ gone. Four of my tents have been raided. One was spared, most likely because they flattened it when stealing my vehicles. Lucky for me, that's where I kept my weapons. Without any friends around or coming any time soon, cut-off from the world and low on medical supplies, I decided to grab my Dragunov (camo) and head south to restock and try to find someone to befriend. It was a long run through Lopatino, Pustoshka and Zelenogorsk. Only on the latter I found signs of another survivor. Sadly, he was dead. I inspected the body and noticed that he had died recently (spotted his name a bit before entering the town). I regretted not being there earlier so I could help (seems he was killed by zombies) and grabbed some supplies from the market before heading further south. Eventually I turned east and came to one of my secondary camps near Chernogosk. From there, I looted the north-west hospital for meds and climbed atop the silos to check out the town (night had fallen by now). I stayed there for nearly twenty minutes trying to spot other survivors scavanging, and just as I was about to leave for Electrozavodsk I saw a couple flares near the International Hotel. Whoever was down there wasn't being wise. I tracked the flares across trown all the way to the market. After switching to a better vantage point I saw that there were actually three survivors . I studied their movements for a few minutes as they scavanged and started to consider joining them. Still, it was night-time and they were three, I was reluctant to just go running up to them and yelling friendly. Instead, I shadowed them as they left Chernogosk due west. I did some thinking and imagined that since they had low-grade gear they'd hit Balota Airfield, so I got down from the silos and went to the forest north-east of Cherno, following the tree lines due-west as well. I was expecting to get to the Airport after them, but after going through the broken fence behind the ATC tower I noticed flares at the Red Cross Camp in front of the strip. I climbed to the top of the tower and looked down my scope. Thanks to the flares and the full moon, I could see their movements pretty clearly. I even saw one of them blow himself up with a grenade. By now I had figured out these people weren't really experienced (or at least they didn't behave as such) and decided to link-up with them. It would be great, I could teach them the ropes and I'd get new people to hang out with. Eventually they (the two left alive) left the Camp and came to the Airfield. I saw them kneeling down by the edge and using binoculars to scout the area. They didn't see me. They started by the hangars, once they got to the one closest to the tower, I started typing. I explained I was friendly. I told them that the fact they were still alive was proof that I was, since I could have sniped them a dozen times. I narrated them their own trip to the Airport so they could see that I wasn't bluffing. I expressed my wishes for joining up with them and even help them re-link with their friend. I believe most of you already know how this ended. After some more talking, I told them I was coming down from the tower. I had seen one of them entering it, but I was hoping he was just using caution. When I started walking down the stars, he ran into me and broke my legs (head-butted them). When I was down, he shot me. I wasn't really angry. Being killed was part of my gamble. Still, it bothered me that they wouldn't even try working together. This called for payback. I respawned at Chernogosk (sheer luck or divine intervention). Grabbed and enfield, a can of food and water and rushed to the Airfield. As I was almost there, I saw one of them (recognized their names from the little chat we had) got killed. I did not hear any shots. When I finally came into the base, I spotted the body, but no signs of his "friend". I like to think that he got killed by his friend while they were arguing who would take my Dragunov (and other supplies). The truth is that I don't know. In any case, I grabbed my ALICE pack and an AKM and decided to head back to the city, hoping that next time I choose to gamble with my life, it actually pays off. -
Wrong. Arma 2 supports the xbox 360 pad. I use it for vehicles.

Hi Guys, Just a quick one apologies if this has been suggested before, search came up with nothing. Suggestion: Modify the run speed slowly as per the different ground types. Slightly faster (10%) running on the road, slightly slower (-5%) running offroad, slightly slower still (-10%) running through the forest. (maybe the beach?) Results: Adds another dimension of choice when moving city to city (more safety vs speed than just stances). Players use the road system to move long distances, thus focusing the player population slightly. Realism; you can run faster on the road than you can through the forest. This is allready implimented for vehicles, moving it across to running is the next logical step (IMO) Thanks for reading :)

Oh and if someone hasn't mentioned it already... Can we get the military offroad trucks back? The amount of single/double vehicles in this game is discouraging.

I was in the northern area of Chernogorsk, minding my own business being new at the game and all.. when a helicopter showed up. It flew over the hospital and landed on the apartment buildings parallel to it. I was WTFing and fighting off 8 zombies with my Lee Enfield, desperately loading another mag when I got shot and went unconcious. A guy with an LMG and a ghillie suit came up to me and bandaged me.. I had 2000 blood. It took me a while to wake up. When I did, he led me up to the helicopter telling me he was here to save me, not kill me (and that i should stop surrendering lol). I got in his helicopter where there were 2 other LMG weilding ghillie suited warriors. Apparently I passed out in the helicopter, and when we landed we were in the middle of nowhere. Probably in the corner of the map. My ghillie suited saviors led me out of the helicopter and into their "camp". It seemed more like a military base than a camp. There were like 6 vehicles there, including the helicopter and a dirt bike. They also had 2 tents, but most of their gear was stored in the truck they led me to. I was hesitant to take their gear at first because they looked like they worked hard for it, but they insisted. They said they had too much crap and felt like helping some noobs, lol. I didn't take much since I was already fully stocked with medical supplies and food. I took their M4 SD CCO and M9 SD, along with a couple survival tools, they told me to take a ghillie suit so I complied. In their truck they had AT LEAST one of each and every weapon in the game, along with tons of mags and food. At this point I think this is all a ruse and they are all going to shoot me, but they didn't... After we chatted and were ready to go, full health and full on food and all, they asked me where to take me. I told them to take me outside of Electro so I could go meet my friends. They dropped me off, I said one last thank you and goodbye and hopped out. The chopper disappeared into the distance and that was that... what. the. fuck. just. happened.

Hackers are really starting to get on my nerves (MUST READ!)
ImperialX replied to pathogen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Don't feel bad bro, me and mine lost a ton of shit today because two guys teleported or something into the midst of our group, shot us, blew up our vehicles with sachtel charges or something and then suidiced themselves with more gear than god. Then immediately disconnected from the server. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/43627-reporting-2-hackers/ There is the topic if anyone wants the names of them. -
For the Robin Hood and his Merry Men of Chernarus are upon you and your riches. My fellow squadmates and I, who are tired of the kill on sight and solely PvP dynamic of this game have decided to spice things up a bit. Things are going to change. Since any features that promote teamplay or *anything* that rivals the benefit of just killing everyone you see are still only in the planning phase (I'm sure they will implemented eventually, but for now this is what we must do), we are taking it upon ourselves to... redistribute... the riches in the hills of Chernarus. Unlike the griefers, who only make it worse by increasing the hostility in DayZ, we will take your gear, and we will give it to those less fortunate... However only to those who do not kill on sight. Betrayal carries heavy consequence too :) We avoid hostility if possible, but if you fire at us with intent to kill, or do kill, we will do our best to either subdue or neutralize you. We aren't big softies who hate PvP, not at all, it's great fun but DayZ also needs a new dynamic. Just fragging everyone you meet is lame. I met a gent on the coast at Prigorodky who had nothing but a hatchet. I went in to take the zombies off him and said this over VoIP, and his first reaction was to kill me with his hatchet. So I beat him to the barn we were both running to, picked up a Lee in the barn and sent a .303 straight through his chest. Fool. At this point I decided it was enough. Hoarders are surprisingly similar with the stash locations they choose, especially in the far north west and north east corners. We have nearly perfected the science of finding the big stashes. So if you think your stash is safely tucked away, you are not as safe as you think. One of us doesn't have a job, so don't expect all the stuff in the out-of-bounds (OOB) is safe either, as he has the time to drive to the common OOB areas. Rest assured that Liam-Neeson style; we WILL find your stash, and we WILL give it away. To everyone else: just remember, the next person you kill might have given you riches beyond anything you could achieve. Some lucky gentlemen just received a GAZ and a motorbike, both fully repaired, just for not shooting on sight. And that is nothing. I will attach a screenie soon, but we have found several camps packed with AS50's, NVG's, MK48's (once found 4 in one tent near the OOB areas, no joke) to prove I'm not kidding. And it could be you that gets a cut. If any dev's read this, please bring helicopters back. You have no idea how much easier this would make our lives and our mission :) <3 Also, please incorporate a diary/pen-and-paper system, so we can leave notes in the one remaining tent we leave at the camps with our calling card. Currently we have to mark a map and hope that they read it. I hope they, 'cos it's the only thing left. But that would be just gravy. Remember, it could be you that gets it. Or loses it. Peace! EDIT: Oh, and thank you to the gentlemen on ANZ9 who had a generous stash of 4 vehicles and 11(!) tents. I'm almost sure you were duping, and I'm absolutely positive all your shit is now in the hands of kind strangers.

Selectable Spawning made viable. [Fixes spawn-hopping, user friendly]
ElemenoP replied to ElemenoP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I only play on US East Coast servers. Stop your tears. 1. My bad, I guess finding them almost exclusively after a restart is a coincidence. I don't typically just wander through the woods, due to it being fucking boring. It's not a question of manning up so much as a question of me not enjoying playing the game like a hiking sim. Also, since you have vehicles, finding your clan is probably much easier. Some people don't. Not having to hike for an extra 15 minutes isn't a huge gamebreaker imo. 2. Yeah you're right. If I die, and me in my group drop what we're doing and run in perfectly straight lines intersecting at the exact middle point between us it could take about 8 minutes. Without the need to use supplies, dodge trees, avoid/navigate towns, or defend ourselves. 3. With this system, you can always spawn. It negates the usefulness of spawn hopping, while allowing players to choose, at least in a very limited and vague way, how to begin. Still need to travel from coast, and most likely longer ways, since each spawn section is about 4km long. Long enough to make re-spawning constantly to loot your own corpse much more difficult. -
Are Choppers In The Game?
ruecanonrails replied to giannithebest1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They have been REMOVED from normal spawn due to glitches and server lag caused by them. They are supposed to be returning with upcomming patch. With that said any and all helicopters you have seen in the past few weeks are hacked vehicles. There are so many hackers spawning items and vehicles that they people think the heli is back in game because they are nearly one or more in every server either flying around or hidden. You can still find the crashed heli loot sites, but those are non repairable vehicles. -
Are Choppers In The Game?
MRJOEYBON replied to giannithebest1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Choppers are definitely in. You can actually look on certain DayZ maps and find helicopter spawns as well as other vehicles. -
There should be folder in the DayZ mod files to dump in music that will be able to be played through a vehicles radio. You should be able to toggle this feature on and off so if the driver selects really bad music then not all persons in the vehicle are forced to listen to it.

All taken by clans, I was 1 hour behind my server going up and most vehicles were already stolen

DayZ so F***ing Hacked I can't play.
RB30E replied to She'llberight's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
teleporters and some sort of remove all but players vehicles and tents hack on nz 16 recently, played on another server the other night not sure what it was sg, sp server or something atleast 3 invisible players. It's dumb the people i play with work hard to get the gear we get and stay alive fore days then hackers come in and blow us away with there incredible gift of being able to know exactly where we are or sneak right past us and steal our shit with out us seeing them. -
New Server no Vehicles Spawned
Brainspackle replied to Zeedee49's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
If you're going by the daydb map, don't. That thing is not all that accurate. Also, the hive determines when vehicles spawn... New servers don't automatically have every vehicle right from the start it seems. -
Vehicle hoarders do you have any comments on these. Once you find a helicopter i guess people just stash away all the vehicles in the woods. Also would love to see ui updates to the inventory system and a "add server to favorites" feature on the server browser. Is it possible to fix the sights on the M16M203 and the M4A1 HOLO so i can toggle b/w the iron sights and the launcher leaf sights.
-
I just got this error if it helps in anyway. ca\chernarus\data\scenes\intro.chernarus\mission.sqm/intro/groups/item1/vehicles/item 0.vehicles: vehicle class villager 1 no longer exists
-
You can't, this prevents going on different servers and piling up cars all in one spot, wouldn't make sense having so many vehicles on one map.
-
Can we have a total reset of gear/tents/vehicles when you eliminate the dupe bugs Please ?

Gloabaly Banned for running Fraps
fr0stii replied to Trakz (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
! IMPORTANT WARNING REGARDING GLOBAL BANS ! If you are globally banned, read the following rules before sending in a support request. If you don't follow these rules your request/e-mail will be ignored! Otherwise your individual case will be carefully investigated. No one is banned for using non-hack programs (like Fraps, overlays, etc.), picking up or using hacked in-game items, weapons or vehicles, being on a server at the same time as a cheater, or other passive non-cheating activity. Therefore all requests mentioning these things as possible reasons for the global ban are ignored. A shared or stolen cd-key is no excuse. It's your own responsibility to ensure that no one else has access to it. Include your exact (!) global ban ID. The ID is shown in your global ban message ("Global Ban #ID"). If you don't include it your request will be ignored. Do not tell stories. Whatever you are saying about yourself or your situation won't matter. The only thing that matters is the evidence that is gathered for every global ban issued. Do not ask for the evidence behind your ban. No details about it will be revealed. Hackers would love to have access to this information. Do not beg for mercy. If you cheated you will have to live with the consequences. Global bans are permanent and no exceptions will be made. Questions regarding how exactly to get unbanned will be ignored. No support will be given on how to buy a new game or change your cd-key. Again, if you don't follow these rules your request will be ignored! Note that you will not receive a response if the evidence clearly indicates that you or someone else using your cd-key cheated. It doesn't matter if you only cheated on your own private server. Cheating on BE-enabled servers is forbidden, period. Taken from a orlok's post in http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/43071-global-banned/ - Sorry for not asking Orlok -
No. Vehicles stay on their respective servers.
