Hello. I'll start of by saying that I couldn't find any post with this specific topic nor suggestion in the forum, but I could have missed it in the forum ocean. If I did and this is already posted, I do apologize. But on the other hand, if it isn't, I truely believe that this is a great idea. I see a lot of vehicles around in Chernorus which aren't useable in any way, they are just there as a part of the enviroment. But even if they aren't usable nor scavengable, they should at the very least be scavengable in my opinion. I'm not just pointing at items like food, mags, weapons etc. I'm thinking more in the way of car parts. I mean, you walk around with a toolbox, you see a car and open the hood to scavange for the sparkplugs you miss for your own car. Just as you can shoot boars and take their meat and chop down wood for your fireplace, you should be able to pick a car for it wheels. It would also be a more suited place to find a wheel than in some random barn with loads of hey. Even if a car isn't whole and it looks all broken down, there should be parts like a windshield, fuelpump, engine etc. in the cars. Of course not all gathered in one car as then you could just have driven away with that car. But if you went to Cherno, found a car and took its windshield for then to move up to Vybor and scavange a wheel from another vehicle there. I would have done that if I had the chance + it's at your own risk with zombies and players all around who could pin you while you're on your knees loosening a wheel. Also the idea of scavanging for possible weapons and/or food or medicaments wouldn't be that unlikely, as these things could be lying around in the cars. Just imagine a humvee got overrun by zombies, the guys inside wouldn't have time to pick up everything and legg it or they faced death inside the car after it being breached. There could be the occasional chance of finding weapons, ammo, medical supplies and such in the humvees at least and lesser loot in others cars. Just imagine yourself fleeing the city, you'd try to find a gun, food, clothing and pack it in your car for then to drive of, But something happens and you have to legg it or fight your way out of the car, you don't turn around to pick up your clothes, food, backpacks and maybe even map. No, you just legg it and leave everything except what you already got on you behind. Even if this would up the drop rate of food, parts, weapons etc. It would be risky to scavenge the vehicles, so it wouldn't make it easier in any way, other than giving you a better chance of finding the items you need. As you wouldn't be protected underneath a storage roof, you'd be out in the open where you could be easily spotted by zombies or players and very easily pinned down. I'm no programing wizard, so I wouldn't know how this would affect the perfomance, requirements or if it's even possible. It's just a thought from my side as that would also lead people away from the bigger cities a bit more, rather than having all the blood hungry players stuck in there, as they know that's the only place people could go for the items/parts they need. This would also force players whos only goal is to kill other players to expand their grid and search for "hotspots" of vehicles to lurk around instead. I do hope I managed to capture everything I wanted to cover with this post, if I didn't, I'll be back to do it once I got my head around this wall of text. Feel free to work further on this, as I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking in this direction. And yet again, if this have already been suggested, I'm truely sorry, but it should have been marked better in that case. Thank you for your time. -Vinyard *Edit* To make the whole idea with using parts from enviromental cars more risky, I have a couple of way to make people want to think twice. First of, like you check a body for the cause of death ro pulse, you should then be able to check the cars "Look for parts". This should take a minute or two, just to make it more risky to stand there. Also once you found those engine parts you've been dying to find, it doesn't take 5 seconds to loosen the nuts and bolts, you would get a progress bar and the whole operation would take a couple of minutes or more. This would make the whole situation nerve wrecking and actually give those who go in groups a major advantage, since one person could be the helpful mechanic while he's being protected by his group. To me that sounds awesome at least, I'd piss my pants if I were in the midst of the street of Cherno taking my engine parts. I also think that if you stood there for half the duration of the progress but have to abort it for now, due to a zombie or a human, you should be able to take cover, go back when it's safe and continue where you let it go. This would also make it quite risky as you could very well be loosening an engine part for another player, who puts a bullet in your head right before your done or after. =) For the vehicles you can already drive around, as far as I know you can only put in engine parts and such, not take them out. But it would make it a whole lot interesting if you found a camp which had several vehicles, instead of shooting everything you scavange the parts and make them unusable to other players untill fixed again. Would that be hard to do at the very least? Being able to remove the parts you already put in to use in another car or just to sabotage another gorups car?

Anyone take a big transport VZ3 civilian truck from a forest on US 382?

Why do you guys hide vehicles anyway? Just so others can't use them? DayZ brings out the true nature of people, sad but true. -
I want to make a film within the dayz mod.
PricelineNegotiator (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a topic when the mod was young. The only people that are allowed to have a filming server or anything of real use for spawning weapons/vehicles to make filming easier are the Bashurverse guys. You might want to get in touch with them if you want to film, as I remember Rocket saying specifically that they are the only ones that will be given the resources necessary to create proper videos on actualy DayZ servers. However, if you wanted to use the editor to film rather than a server, you may have some success. I've fooled around in the editor, but haven't found it worthwhile nor easy. Your call. -
It's not an issue of them spawning. It's an issue with HFB servers not having an updated HIVE file (or something) because no one who currently has camo on can get into the servers, and if you put camo on while in the game your character doesnt save, or can access loot, or get into vehicles.

US 1046 - Admins kicking to protect their vehicles
Thehooligan replied to Garful's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I would normally sit out of these sort of discussions, yet the childish behavior has lead me to respond. 1. Drove what motorcycle? there was 4 of you, how did you fit on one two wheeler? 2. Fraps, while they do serve a purpose, this is the fox news of fraps. Showing the part of finding the camp, yet showed nothing up until that point. The only vehicle that wasn't a car was an ATV, which one of you attempted to drive, and when i shot you, you dced. The fraps show only half of the battle.... 3. The ban did not occur until the next day, the kicks began when you dced off the ATV which is clear violation of our server.(We took no loot) 4. Our admin has went out of his way in my opinion responding to you 5. Not one of us disconnected, we actually dced moments prior to you entering our camp, and the fact that the vehicles were taken/destroyed has nothing to do with it, hence the point of the game. So infact we LOADED into the game....(including myself) 6.This situation clearly shows that our admins should use fraps, after seeing such a terrible attempt to use it as evidence. 7. And finally, if our actions, which were done in good faith, to prevent players from abusing exploits, ie, dcing during combat, etc,, and if that server is blacklisted due to those actions, then so be it. You talk of justice, yet your actions towards our admin would show otherwise. If the powers that be demand your unbanning, then you will be, if those powers decide blacklist us, i will buy another server, and ban you again. We hope that others will look past a few idiots, who try to use shreds of evidence to weave their lie, and come to our server and have a good time, and enjoy the honest experience that is, Day Z. -
Anyone take a big transport VZ3 civilian truck from a forest on US 382?
DayZPvP.com replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have seen whole camps including 8 tents and 8 vehicles come, go, leave again, comeback again, on and on. Sometimes its cars, sometimes tents, sometimes both. It is hard to say what is a glitch and what was a masterful raid because they can look exactly the same. -
Rofl learn to read :) Im not attached I just find it too easy to steal other peoples vehicles :) move along troll nothing here for you

Anyone take a big transport VZ3 civilian truck from a forest on US 382?
EBRAddict replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
All I do is loot the northern map edge now. I found a V3S full of top end guns and gear. Drove it about 1.5km away. It's been there for a few days but eventually someone else will find it. Looting tent cities and vehicles stored on the northern edge of the map is far more productive than fighting it out in Stary or NWAF. I don't even have to leave to find food. Run out of tents to loot? Change servers. -
Bugs/Glitches I've Encountered in DayZ (As of 7/23/12)
kmach1ne posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Since this thread doesn't seem to meet the requirements of the Bugs section of the forums, I figured this is the next best place. I'll keep this introduction short and sweet. I'll get right to listing bugs/glitches I've encountered as well as what my friends have encountered. I'll list the following bugs/glitches in numerical order and you (the viewer) can confirm each one you have also encountered as well as submitting new ones. I'll try to update the list as much as possible. I'll start with eleven and update as I think of more and as I hear more from you guys. Inventory deleting items if required room is insufficient. Camping tents deleting/duping items. Vehicles deleting/duping items. If you gain new items or weapons and proceed to log out within a few minutes, chances are when you log back on, most or all of those newly acquired items are gone. When firing a weapon, sometimes the gun won't shoot even if the weapon is in the "ready" position. Switching weapons back and forth seems to be a temporary fix. Dropping items or weapons on the ground may delete said items or weapons. Lose all items when swimming. (Even on the most recent beta patch and server option enabled) Zombies can walk through doors and walls. Dead zombies seem to stand up above their twice-baked corpse for a split second when a player enters that area. Which can be used as an indicator for other players staking out a barracks or whatever. Zombies run extremely fast or at least the ones that don't have spina bifida or lieutenant Dan syndrome. Since the sprint key doesn't seem to actually make your character run faster, you're stuck at one running speed and the running zombies catch you in a matter of seconds. The animations for the zombies are sped up to break neck speeds and zombies have to stop, pause and then swing for the fences. More of an annoyance than a threat. Server updates/game updates while in game can cause item/weapon loss upon reentry into server. Like I said, I'll keep updating the text with more bugs/glitches periodically. -
I think it would make it harder for the hoarders to steal them back aswell. Imagine poor hoarders crying when you detonate your quad in the middle of the vehicle stock pile and they loose all the vehicles they own :)

Vehicle ownership and theft prevention .
internetTAB (DayZ) replied to BL1P's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I already have problems with server admins who decide that they own every car on the map and horde them all into their little campsite. why the fuck do they need that many vehicles... this would make it even harder to get one @_@ -
No. Having too much fun stealing vehicles from players not paying attention

If you have a vehicle and 2 GPS. You should be able to add (right click) one of the gps onto the vehicle and it would then show the vehicle on your map only as-long as you have another gps and you haven't died since you applied the gps. All vehicles should have keys. You should be able to take the keys out of a Vehicle :- You then carry the keys called "white off road #1" as an item which can be taken of you're body or passed to someone else. (server only none transferable) All vehicles can be hot-wired but there is a % chance that you set of the car alarm and the cars horn will then keep beeping for say 1 hr. (% reduced if multiple players attempt the hot-wire together. Wheel clamps should be an item you can add to the vehicle (if its got wheels). Again they should be removable with a % chance of alarm going off if not the player who placed it. If you own a Vehicle(have keys) and Satchel Charge (or 3 grenades) you can set up a nice little exploding anti theft device if the vehicle is stolen but the alarm goes off then the vehicle explodes. If you own a Vehicle (with keys) and a Satchel Charge (or 3 grenades) + 2 gps you can use the 1 gps + explosives to create a wireless explosive device you can detonate from within 1k of vehicle. Also I think we should have a rope which can be used to tow vehicles and hang car thief's :)

Tonight at NE airfield me with 2 friends found a UAZ a bus and a van also 3 other bicycles. We took them and hid them without thinking if they could be hacked. It crossed my mind when I heard a chopper in the distance (I think it's not ingame anymore) If the server admin can read this please don't ban me and my friends but ban the one who spawned them and remove the vehicles from the server. Also had a few items in them but nothing worthy or out if the ordinary.

If tents are present then vehicles are also present. If your tent returned and the vehicle did not, somebody found it and took it. -
Check these thread real fishy people running that server http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/41428-hackers-found-on-us-1046-by-owner/page__hl__1046 and http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/41077-us-1046-admins-kicking-to-protect-their-vehicles/page__hl__garful

Good on you for stealing from the admins. And good on them for not banning you as soon as they found out the vehicles and their precious beans were gone.

Me and My friends were playing on US 578 hosted by The United Sirs of America yesterday and while exploring the map we've come across a camp with a lot of tents and two vehicles, a blue van and a yellow car. We stole both vehicles and ran away with them, after getting some fuel a BIG ASS TRUCK found us and crashed the yellow car wich I was driving while my friends with the van escaped (Yes, after the truck smashed the car I ejected and I DIED HIT BY A TRUCK IN THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, I loled so hard at that) With that being said, after my friends with the blue van rescued me at the coast we drove of trying to find some parts to repair the van. After a while I got whispered by the admin! Did the guy in the truck was the admin? Are whispers allowed? Or did he just found my dead body and left my beans on it? Anyways, I just wanted to reply this... Thanks for the beans Mister Admin. And the van, if it was yours! Here is the pic of the whisper! Sorry if this was posted on the wrong part of the forum.

SEALdvd replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We (I and some friends) had also hide a V3S truck in a forest. And after 10 days on the same hiding spot it just disappears in one night. We found a Ural truck (on the same day of disappearing of the V3S truck) near stary, take that to an other location and after 4 hours that truck was also gone. It's sad, however you can't hide a vehicle forever.. I read somewhere that hackers can find locations of tents, vehicles and players. Some weapons we lost in one day: Ak-74, AK-M, AK-U, m249 (*2 weapons), mk 48, bizon (*2 weapons), MP5SD6, M16A2 m203, m4a3 CCO, FN-FAL, FN-FAL ANPV, L85A2 AWS, m107 (*2 weapons), DMR, M9 SD (*4 weapons). *note, most of the guns we found were already in the ural* -
Server Blood of Britain Hacked by player "Jamie"
Longs replied to Longs's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think I might take a break from the game for a few days, the above post echo's quite well how I feel atm. We had a regular crowd on our server, people that had set up camps and were using vehicles etc. It was giving me and my friends a real sense of adventure having other organised players to play against. I'd been killed a few times but was always keen to do the start over loot some gear thing then head north to meet up with my friends to get back in the action. This one hacker may have ruined that and scared off the players that were coming on the server every day. -
Exactly. I don't know why some folks are so opposed to crafting or re-building. It makes sense if everything around you is broken or run-down. If they removed the ability to repair vehicles, the "crafting deniers" would complain about that too. I'm not suggesting we go the way of Minecraft. But being able to create basic, useful items would make DayZ appeal to a wider spectrum of players. Plus there's street cred to be had when making your own stuff. It's why we stopped being cavemen. Oh wait, some of us are *still* cavemen.
-
mentioning all this info in the first post would have been much more helpful for people.. Its against a tree. i know how vehicles work. i can't access gear or get in but i can save. it looks like its been on fire. the tractor is blown up

lu155 HACKERS TELEPORTING PEOPLE

Last bump in-case the lu155 admin see's this thread. To everyone else on the server, we're out. Gonna destroy our vehicles and flatten our tents o// Was fun! -
title pretty much sums it up. keeping the gps a rare spawn, maybe take it outside of military spawnpoint perhaps, and add a limited range sensor for finding vehicles.

Love this thread already ;) Convoying supplies from one location to another. 4 vehicles in a line, all being driven by members of my group. We're on the north side of Balota, heading north. We round a corner an BAM! We see someone in the field. The three in the back say "Meh, leave him alone. If he shoots, keep moving". For some reason, that didn't seem fair to me. This perfect chance to test out my newly installed bumper... I swerve the Ural toward the person. He runs! Dodges! I turn around and go back. 4 Tons of steel rolling at 35KM/H smack the helpless survivor and sends him flying for about 30 meters. He feeds about half of my group and we keep rolling.
