This is probably my best Dayz hunt I've ever had in my 2 1/2 months of playing, and I just had to share it because frankly I felt like fucking John McClane or some shit. The Meeting So I load up and spawn in Kamenka and it takes everything in me to not just respawn and hope for something closer. "At least I can take a pit stop at Bolota" trying to ever-convince myself this wasn't a stupid idea. As I'm running up the hill to avoid any roadwalkers or vehicles I spot 4 survivors moving as a tight squad. As soon as I saw those 4 all I could think about was "I'm going to kill them all" even though all I had on me was a bandage, some painkillers and a flashlight.. I was determined. So I began to stalk them through the fields, taking a knee behind every tree and wall I could just to keep my distance but know where they are. I can hear faint radio chatter as they make their way to bolota, so I try to listen in as I'm assessing their weapon situation. 1 Makarov, 1 Double-barrel shotgun, 1 M4A1 SD, and a sniper of sorts.. most likely a CZ - quite the ragtag bunch of guns I know, but a threat none the less. The Action So I stalk these guys all the way to the bolota comms tower, where I waited in the coniferous trees just past the perimeter fence, keeping a close eye on the roof of the tower making sure I still count four targets. I hear three shots go off and then complete silence.. zombies I assumed. I see two disappear out of the bottom of the tower setting barbed wire at the entrance so I decided now would be a good time to sneak my way into the bushes just beside the ladder and listen in on radio chatter. "gonna go check hangers" the guys on the ground say as I hear their footsteps getting more and more distant. not 10 seconds later I hear someone coming down the ladder... at this point my heart is pounding so hard in my chest I can hear every beat. Finally reaching the bottom of the ladder I see him booking it towards the military camps through the bushes. As soon as I didn't hear any footsteps I figure this is my only chance to do anything, so I start climbing the ladder just praying that he wouldn't hear me coming. Lets face it, just getting up the ladder without anybody hearing is one thing, but for me to get all the way up.. get behind him AND hope he has something in his bag worth stealing - tough chance, but fuck it. So I get to the top and I see him to my right seeing the guy heading to the military camps off, and right ahead of me is a dead survivor with... AN AXE!. I rush towards the guy and take cover below the glass, fumbling through the clanky interfacing hoping I grab the axe fast enough. I see this guy walking towards the ladder close to me so I start rolling away to the opposite side while I'm still 'loading' my axe. He starts turning every which way to try and .. what I could only assume is an attempt to climb down the ladder. I've got no idea where his air hanger buddies are but I didn't have any other choice so I got up while he was facing the ladder and four...five swings later he's down on the ground, nearly hitting me with his stupid DB shotgun. "What the fuck, dude are you dead!?" is all I heard on the mics as I literally have a heart attack trying to loot what I could.. which.. lucky me.. was his DB shotgun with.. you guessed it - ONE SHELL LEFT. Not one clip.. not two shots... ONE shot. Fuck me right?. So I'm freaking out because I know I got two guys running to my location, but lucky for me they thought they had the front entrance completely barbed up so all they did was watch the ladder for about... 5 minutes. I'm sweating bullets at this point because basically if I miss I'm dead, and if I try to go through the front entrance as their climbing down the ladder and I'm wrong about their barbed wire job... I'm stuck.. and you guessed it, dead. Nothing I could do right? So I book it down the stairs and try to get through the barbed wire.. *clang clang clang*. All I could hear is someone climbing the ladder. I try every which way to get through it and finally glitched out through the railing and onto the other side. took me a good quarter of a second to get behind the first hanger because any longer and I woulda probably pissed myself. So I sit and wait, again listening to radio chatter. "This dude is a fucking ghost" "you sure no hacker man?" "alt f4?" "nah man nah I heard him below us". At this point I see two guys circling the tower counter clockwise and they stop at the front entrance to see if I was still there. One of them goes prone maybe 10 feet from the entrance while the other one goes to cover the ladder. I still have no clue where the hell their sniper is, but I didn't even think about it at the time, all I knew is I had one shot and it was game over. I wait 10 seconds to make sure he's not gunna spin around and see me and then I rush at him and put the only shot I got directly into his back. Thank god for 1 shot double barrel rounds is all I got to say because he only managed to get a single shot off at me before dying, unfortunately making me bleed. I quickly stole his makarov and ran around to my regular hiding spot behind the hanger as I waited for the other one to come around. I see that I'm bleeding but I have no clue when someone is coming around the corner so I'm pretty damn scared to do anything but ready my gun. I bleed all the way down to 8700 health where I then wedge myself between the support arch and the hanger itself and bandage. At that very second the guy with the M4A1 comes rushing out thinking I may have ran into the forest behind bolota... another beautiful opportunity. I take one shot... missed completely - he turns around to face me ready to shoot and I put 4 right into his face. Server lag let him squeeze off a round, conveniently hitting my leg and breaking it. I'm down, no morphine, no time, 3 makarov shots and a fresh clip and 1 guy left. Sweating bullets. I know at this point that the sniper has to be close, and crawling all the way to the guys body would be suicide, so I start rolling towards the space between the two hangers and there he was.. like a deer in headlights ..completely frozen. I took hasty aim with my shaky hands and.... put two into his lower abdomen and missed one. "OH FUCK" is all that was going through my head as I tried reloading.. watching this sniper aim directly at me. Seconds felt like minutes as I watched what felt like the slowest reloading animation ever. *BOOM* a shot goes off.. right into my head... the end of my epic unarmed massacre at Bolota. The whole thing from beginning to end took about an hour, so you can imagine the amount of time between events here. Pretty scary!

There should be folder in the DayZ mod files to dump in music that will be able to be played through a vehicles radio. You should be able to toggle this feature on and off so if the driver selects really bad music then not all persons in the vehicle are forced to listen to it.

7/23/12 At 11:30 EST, Me and two buddies drove north and someone named "andrew" spawned right next to our car and stole it. He was invincible (3 full clips of M4A1) did nothing. He then spawned a helicopter and proceeded to shoot us. He then kicked me and friend out of game (we know the admin personally who was not online). His alias was "andrew". I am unsure of exactly went on after but the server was emptied. Earlier that day, there was mass teleporting to one location and everyone died. I believe the same thing happened again. (server went from full 40/40 to 11/40 in 10 minutes).

I was in the northern area of Chernogorsk, minding my own business being new at the game and all.. when a helicopter showed up. It flew over the hospital and landed on the apartment buildings parallel to it. I was WTFing and fighting off 8 zombies with my Lee Enfield, desperately loading another mag when I got shot and went unconcious. A guy with an LMG and a ghillie suit came up to me and bandaged me.. I had 2000 blood. It took me a while to wake up. When I did, he led me up to the helicopter telling me he was here to save me, not kill me (and that i should stop surrendering lol). I got in his helicopter where there were 2 other LMG weilding ghillie suited warriors. Apparently I passed out in the helicopter, and when we landed we were in the middle of nowhere. Probably in the corner of the map. My ghillie suited saviors led me out of the helicopter and into their "camp". It seemed more like a military base than a camp. There were like 6 vehicles there, including the helicopter and a dirt bike. They also had 2 tents, but most of their gear was stored in the truck they led me to. I was hesitant to take their gear at first because they looked like they worked hard for it, but they insisted. They said they had too much crap and felt like helping some noobs, lol. I didn't take much since I was already fully stocked with medical supplies and food. I took their M4 SD CCO and M9 SD, along with a couple survival tools, they told me to take a ghillie suit so I complied. In their truck they had AT LEAST one of each and every weapon in the game, along with tons of mags and food. At this point I think this is all a ruse and they are all going to shoot me, but they didn't... After we chatted and were ready to go, full health and full on food and all, they asked me where to take me. I told them to take me outside of Electro so I could go meet my friends. They dropped me off, I said one last thank you and goodbye and hopped out. The chopper disappeared into the distance and that was that... what. the. fuck. just. happened.

You can't, this prevents going on different servers and piling up cars all in one spot, wouldn't make sense having so many vehicles on one map.

Can we have a total reset of gear/tents/vehicles when you eliminate the dupe bugs Please ?

The Heli maybe a hack but the others arn't. me and a few of my friends steal vehicles from people all the time lol. Our old camp had 2 atvs, 1 UaZ, 1 Bus, 1 pickup truck{was 2 but we broke it} 1 van, 1 Gaz, 1 military offroad, and 1 ural civilian truck. we have found twice ad many but we just blow them up now. the best part was this was all on one server from just 4 of us. lol the admin was resetting the server every 6 hours so there was no night time then he just changed the name of the server twice before we lost track of it. I believe he was mad that we horded all the vehicles lmao. Its just a matter of finding peoples camps

I agree. My friends and I have been trying to find a car for days, even switching between multiple servers, but with no luck. I think most servers have a group of players that have just stocked up all the vehicles somewhere. It's kind of lame. Feels like the only way we'll ever get a car is if we open our own servers.

Radar should be disabled on helicopters if they are brought back as it is too OP for finding all other vehicles on the server

We just want the van :P It's my (second) favorite vehicles. We had to kill 6 people with our 4 to get it. It was an awesome gun fight. Also, don't find our camp again. >:(

Basically I figured I would collect stuff as I go and I hate electro and chernoff so I said screw it and made my way along eastern highway... I am pretty sure there is a vehicle around here hopefully I find it.. Totally my fault but it still sucks! ~Jones BtTW when a server resets do vehicles return to original locations? Thanks!

So the logistic guys are just a clan that frequent? ANYTIME one of them is killed the server goes offline, our group thought they were admins, and would have left the server already if we didnt have so many vehicles/tents. Thanks for the response clint

But the thing is, vehicles are being destroyed on a regular basis, and as far as my understanding goes, there is no way to spawn new ones, except a hard server reset, which... doesn't happen very often at all, and why would you ever want to spawn 3 bikes in 10 minutes?

First of all, vehicles do not appear on server restart. They respawn at secret intervals controlled by the hive and have nothing to do with server restarts. Secondly, if they end up in "caches" in the woods then that makes it easier to steal them. They will be repaired and you can get in one and drive away. I have owned and operated over 35 vehicles in my time in the game. About half of which I have repaired at their original spawn locations (long after a server restart, by the way) and the other half I have stolen from these super secret completely hidden "caches" you speak of. You want to travel faster? Man up and get to work. Vehicles are out there. Spawn points are not at the extreme edges of the map and two people running at each other only have to cover half the distance to meet. That's how I figured it out. Kamenka to Solichniy is around 11km. And chances are very very slim that you will end up at those extremes. More likely you will be about 5km from each other, which is an 8 minute run. Oh, god. 8 precious minutes. 3 guidelines and a bunch of timeouts and timers and you can't spawn now and a ton of completely unnecessary bullshit to solve a problem that doesn't exist. Just no. Really.

Problem: more hoarding. Eventually an entire corner of the map will be covered with vehicles that people have built.

I was thinking, a way to stop the hoarders from hoarding all of the vehicles in their servers would be to impliment a building that you could bring for instance, a certain number of scrap metal pieces to in order to build yourself the shell of the vehicle you are looking to manufacture, lets say a bike would cost 1 scrap metal (plus two tires as it would be just the shell), a motor cycle costing 3 scrap metal and so on and so forth, the bigger the vehicle the more metal it takes to make it. This would of course discourage vehicle hording because what would be the point in taking all the vehicles in the map and hiding them if you could just make them yourself? I also believe this would still be a challenge getting these vehicles because the parts for them are generally few and far between.

Noah Kelly iTry Both were on server 574 geared out with gillie suits, full tool belts, .50cal snipers, NVGs, Rangefinders, and regular patrol packs. They detonated satchel charges and blew up all of our shit, vehicles, ext. after both spawning on top of us on a hill while already being in game logged in. Also, they suicided themselves with all that shit. All the gear they died with was not able to be picked up at all. Someone please ban they cock suckers.

You can go beyond the line like 20 kilometers if you want. Nothing is going to hurt you out there with the possible exception of other bored players. But you can't set up tents or save vehicles anymore. Slyguy it's absolutely unmistakably obvious. There is a perfectly straight line at which the grass stops growing. Like someone cut it with a knife. All along the north and west edges of the map. You really cannot miss it.

Still spawn at a random location, just on a specific coast. The game tells you where you are. You still spawn in a random area on the coast, just on a slightly more specific section of it. Vehicles end up in caches in the middle of the woods within a few hours of a server restart. I've been playing for a long ass time and yesterday was the first day I found working cars. Running cross-country takes way more than 15 mins, and the map is 15km wide. Dunno how you figured that out. Also, it's 3 guidelines, most of which the average user won't even encounter. Complicated? The game tells you where you are. This feeling has worn off for me, I just spawn hop now because I know exactly where everything is. This system doesn't remove all of that mystery, just gives you a general section to spawn on. Thank you for your insightful reply.

How can I get in contact with a server admin, I see them chatting in game but I cant respond because there is no more side chat. I need to ask him if he can restart the server due to tent/vehicles disappearing.
