This is not true. Some vehicles act different than others. Most CARS and TRUCKS spawn back at the last place they are empty and stopped. Even if they are blown up!

The hunt for loot is fun but its now about keeping it. Later in the development of this game there will be tons more to do then just survive. Now you can try team up and scavenge for parts to repair cars etc.. I hope in the future you are able to literally build vehicles from parts now that would be awesome.. make that real hard though like 30 parts to collect so everyone isn't driving about with vehicles. -
Vehicle Saving

The vehicles should be at their last save on restart. You're either running into a bug (likely) or your shit got jacked and then saved elsewhere (more likely). -

More cars (2-3x what they are now) and keep them banged up like they are. Fewer gas pumps, there are like 12 just in cherno but only chance of 3 vehicles to spawn in there.. it should be other way around. 12 cars and 1-2 gas pumps in the major towns then a few scattered around the map - somewhere between 6-8 in total. Able to take petrol out of other cars even though they are not driveable. Driving a car should aggro like a motherfucker in towns and have zombies being able to do damage to them, something like if you plan to speed through cherno there is good chance your car won't make it through in one piece. Parts should be harder to find. Basically it should be the hunt for gas and parts not for vehicles, just look at almost any post apocalyptic movie, tv-show, game, literature, etc. it's almost always that way which makes more sense than how it is currently. edit: maybe a mod could join these two discussions: http://dayzmod.com/f...rs-more-common/ -

Go find some grenades and solo raid peoples camps (don't worry about the reprucussions, they'll all abort), then steal their vehicles and crash them into stuff. Then wait for War Z to come out. -
So I'm starting a thread for other players videos of Survivor Vs Vehicle Videos.. So this could be a Survivor taking out a chopper pilot/gunner, and road vehicles, etc... Look forward to seeing the replies... Here's my video... Excuse the language I tend to swear when I'm shitting myself! :P http://youtu.be/nDBTV53vpzo

Well, basically, what I want to know is how the vehicle saving works on servers now. Yesterday I saved 2 vehicles in my camp, came back next restart and they were gone. I had the same problem a few days ago. I haven't successfully saved a vehicle in about 2 weeks. Someone told me that after 1 server restart, they disappear and come back after a second.. is this true? I just don't get how it works. Are there servers that disable saving of vehicles and tents?

I don't have enough evidence to make a serious accusation to someone, but the admin may want to look into it. i hope he reads this, though. basically what had happened is yesterday between 7am and 12pm central yesterday half of my crew were randomly killed, not like they were shot, but nothing at all happened and they get "you are dead". we just quit and came back today, then my friend "Hannibal" on the uk 177 server, meets this guy in a ghillie suit. he could have killed him but instead he asked "friendly" and didnt shoot the ghillie guy. the ghillie guy asked if my friend wanted vehicles. then he said 'watch this' and he proceeded to teleport directly behind him and away and back. we all immediately alt+f4'd and said fuck this server. i love the server and i plan to return on my own, but my group has left.

If you are solo there is only one thing to do, kill people, perhaps put up a tent or two. As a group, you should start scouting for vehicles, then later on camps. Then you go hunting people. -

im in the same boat as you my friend! What do we do now? i still play alot but on low pop servers and usually at night. I still hunt crash sites sites. And i hunt vehicles. -
Me and my friends were driving to our camp from Stary loot run when a server reboot occurred. Our vehicle was saved and it didn't rollback but on our way we saw a helicopter next to a road. None of our group knew how to fly helicopter so it was really stressful to land without the auto hover (we didn't know about it back then). We finally landed it near our camp and then i started thinking how the hell there was a unguarded helicopter next to a road? Then i remembered that there were a server reboot. If you don't already know what happened(maybe) well, Vehicles are saved when someone exit's the vehicle and no one is inside so, the guys who had the helicopter probably landed it there and left the helicopter for some stupid reason (pickup, loot etc.) and then got up in the air and then bam! server reboot. The vehicle spawns to the location where it last was saved and the guys who were inside the helicopter are spawned in the air (where helicopter was when dc). It was pretty far up in north and we found it like 5-15mins after the reboot. If youre bored to read: We looting stary> server restart> leave stary after reboot> 5-15min find heli> guys who had the heli before, were spawned up in the air and died > we get heli(fully repaired) Im sorry if you lost your heli in Norway 25 around 29.7 - 31.7 We lost it quick after too cause: http://dayzmod.com/f...-hacker-or-bug/

You know what. That's not so hard to found a vehicle. Gamers usualy hides them on north edge of map. Just go to woods and start searching. To have more chances search with friends. Playing for a month and i already found around 11 vehicles on servers. And every time i stoled it from someone else because it's nearly impossible now to find one on original respawn points. PS. Sorry for my w english :P

I agree, more bikes, please. Bikes aren't a trouble, rarity, or coveted item. As for vehicles? I'm actually an advocate for less. I see vehicles as a sort of bad mess waiting to happen. When you get a vehicle, you have no reason to stealth anymore, so you just run and loot, getting more and more careless with your play style until you finally die. And then what? You're stuck with that careless play style with nothing to run back to, so you die. A lot. Not to mention, I'd like to NOT see 10+ some cars driving by on the road in a supposed barren wasteland of a post-apocalyptic setting. -

Vehicles arent worth the effort. every day we find them. and everynight we lose them. Its good and bad, but I mean, we found the helo on our server. as did many others. we had to fight and die to get that bird flying. took hours, and 10+ manpower. (farming parts) we also lost a vehicle doing it (only a motorbike tho) so, we take it to a safeish clearing. cheer a job well done, hard fought and won. 10 hours later... soembody logs in.. and its gone. somebody found it, flew it. and crashed it within 2 mins (from the wreckage we estimated 2 mins) - so, what was the point? we have cars/bikes/quads etc, and lorries, and they never last.. they come and go. we fix them up, and they get stolen or the really sadistic people blow them up. It seems that helos are the new clan top tier goal. whilst vehicles are the secondary. I myself dont harm enemy vehicles. ive come across a hilux or two (crappy 2 seater, no use to a big clan) I take what I want from it.. maybe shoot out the tires. but I wouldnt blow it up :P -
DE 969 Admin BattleEye ban abuse

This is a new server that I pay for with my hard earn't wages to support DayZ and out of my love for the Mod - as a result I have been monitoring it on RCon hourly. The server clearly says Hackers, Exploiters and Racists will be banned. It also states that the server will be randomly restarted to deter hackers. 1) You wasn't on the server for a few hours more like minutes and you had clearly managed to get a whole arsenal of vehicles. 2) When the server restarted you was in the server lobby before it had even loaded, 3 times - even before I could get there. 3) There was two players with the exact same GUID - these were Tex and Pink Power. Who then continually spammed to get back in to the server, changing names and trying to log in for over an hour - getting Battleye Kicked every time. You and your 'Team' was clearly duping items and as a result you all got banned. If it was such a problem you would have just gone and joined another server, but instead you all spammed the server login so quick that my RCon looked like a news ticker. As an admin I have a duty to protect my server and those who want to play on it - legitimately. I am not an unfair person - why don't you explain here for everyone to see how you got all your vehicles in such a short space of time? They say that offence is the best form of defence and it looks like that's what you're 'trying' to achieve with your malicious post. /banned -

RE: Private Hives and 'The Rules' - (Update from Rocket inside)
digital0 replied to Anton17's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What exactly do you think is being tested here? The only stresstest that occurs is the database being hammered. There is no magic behind it. The exact model that is being used right now won't be used in a standalone version anyway. You can't have this amount of important data send to you by privates who play on an engine that is as shaky as this one right now. Statistics mostly don't matter right now anyway since there is such a massiv amount of duping going on. Do you know how hard a serverhoster theoretically could fuck your beloved hive? If rocket were to give the option to his paying server-hosters/admins to go private he could collect data as well on let's say an hourly basis. Noone would say shit. You get the same results, the same data, you can have the same banpower. Where is the problem? Feedback to the state of development would be exactly the same. There is only one thing you as a player get from a central hive and that is server-to-server inventory persistence. That's it. There is nothing more. Get this in your head. Anything else that is of value like tents, vehicles, trading posts and as such the community around these things is bound to the server. The negatives outweigh the positives by a shitton. -
Only reason why I know its a hackers camp is because when i found it there was 3 crashed helicopters, 1 helicopter in perfect condition, a police car, camo ural, escalade, and a couple other vehicles that aren't in the game that disappeared on server restart. There was also a tent with SCAR-H ammo

That was Kurisu. He was on his way to us when you took him down. We had a guy in the NE airfield that ran that way to try and help but it all went pear shaped with the hacker. WHAT21A and I were busy stealing your other pickup when you opened fire on the other vehicles. We were really concerned about getting out of there as obviously we had to take the same road, luckily the pickups were fast enough to get us down that road without you guys opening up on us - didn't hear any shots anyway.

i think it is a great idea to make vehicles more common but fuel much rare, it would really call for more player interaction beetween "well-developed" groups on the same server -
so i was on a uk server gb #500 ... mutiny or something anyway i stole a bus from a camp then admin closes server and makes private to get the bus back along with my stuff thats in it, this is not acceptable, saved vehicles should travel with the player over servers that last saved them and be removed from map when player disconnects

At the time of incident, my buddy was getting a refuel run accomplished on his Huey. I was about 1.5 klicks out en route to him. I had just been to the same refuel station to fill up my UAZ and properly cleared the area. He suddenly comes over comms, "I just lost the heli! Three guys came out of nowhere and killed me." Shocked that this could have happened a few minutes after I had just been in the same area mere minutes ago, I continue forward, determined to damage the chopper as much as I can before they can get away with it. During the next 300-400 meter run (to which I was at about 1.1 klicks out with a mountain still between him and me), he informs me that they literally appeared on top of him. As the thought of hackers began to cross my mind, I am suddenly shot from behind from 5-10 meters away. Killed. Mind you, I had just turned my head behind me to check my back at the instance of my death and saw them pop out of nowhere, just like he said. Incident report follows: @0543 CST on US 1618 - Teleporting to vehicles/personnel then killing the users. [GHT]KuSa- [GHT]Ps3PAd [GHT]beuldak-098 There is also a fourth member to their little circlejerk group. Hanwoo, Haewoo, or something to that effect. He was not online at the time of incident, therefore I cannot accuse him. Suspect, yes, however.

I was thinking about a solution for this and I think that making tents "mechanic" more like vehicles could solve many problems. Right now there is fixed number of every vehicle type on a server. I'm pretty sure its because they are not created during play, but are "placed" while the mission is initialized. So basicly they are placed in mission editor on their spawns and every time server restarts they appear there - if they are saved in the hive then they are immediately "teleported", changed and filled with saved stuff. In the other words an every vehicle is unique. On the other hand tents not exist before they are created (out of thin air). Every time a tent is pitched its created via a arma2 scripting command as a new entity and if you pack it up and set it up again its not the same tent. So how about making tents like vehicles? I mean make a limited number (100?) of tents per server, spawning in certain location. You would be able to pack them up and set up, but they would be "moved" not "created" - So its like: you find a tent and pack it up (the tent is teleported 10 meters below the ground and a packed tent is added to your inventory), you go somewhere and pitch up the tent (a packed tent dissapears from inventory and the orginal tent is teleported form his "grave" to new location). I know it wont prevent duping but limit it at least to some extent. There will be less tents (so less place to keep stuff) and they won't be duped and more valuable. Also no more problems with tents showing up in places where they were disassambled previously. I suspect they would be more relaible in terms of keeping items too.
