I really tried to refrain from server hopping as much as possible this life. I had previously, trying to get vehicles working etc, but the loading screen... well... you know... So I i picked 2 servers that were reliable for me and stuck to them as much as I could. I wasn't server hopping at all the 6 hours that led up to when I got murked by the hacker. Say what you want about the AS50-TSW I had, but I got it fair n square. I have no idea how the guy I killed for it got it but I didn't hack for it at all. And as far as being up on the border, dude like 80% of vehicles are hidden on borders and I had just lost my 6th one... -

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.

Alot of suggestions so far, some really good...some others well...yeah. In the interest of trying to supply something unique, interesting, debatable and different: Black Swan Events, delivery of a loose indirect narrative through said in-game events, and the issue of resets/partial levelling of the playing field events or things which change up the balance, but in a believable way. Games can tend to get a bit slow as people bunker down, people get bored and complain of a lack of "end-game", and a heirachy can quickly establish itself based on the amount of gear people have and how long they've been playing the game. Clearly, one doesn't want to eliminate gear/benefits, but on the other extreme, one doesn't want a system that reaches a static equilibrium quickly and then never moves. This leads to quick game-fatigue. Plus, certain mechanics have logical problems end points: What happens when there's too many tents? What happens for exploration when the maximum number of vehicles have already spawned and they're all collected? Can people ever really be absolutely independent of the towns and civilisation? Hence the suggestion of some black-swan events, or injections or game mechanics designed to provide events of a "narrative-like-nature-but-not-actually-a-narrative". The player still interprets how they react to these events, and they don't provide a story but lets the player project their narrative on to them. Like all of these things, they rely on being implimented in a psychologically effective way. Some people have already, unknowingly, suggested some of them: -randomly venturing zombie packs every now and then outside of towns. -radio chatter -crashed choppers/washed up boats Perhaps some extra random ideas (and as far as I'm concerned, all should be exceptionally rare and appear practically random, but not frequent): -Extreme weather events (wind/rain/lightning/heat/cold beyond what we have now) -Infection events (i.e. new-strains/effects/sudden rebalancing of the zombie population tables) -Diaries/notes -Droughts/Famines/sanitary outbreaks in localised areas -Random small hostile well-armed paramilitary groups moving into/inhabiting/through an area -Chopper flying overhead -Rare or strange animal behaviour (lots of dead animals around a water hole, animals moving in a pack/pattern, rare/strange/dangerous animal). -Discovering a "safe-room"/signs of previous inhabitation -Gas/Petrol explosion (as in, in the distance). -Fires/smoke -Something which gets some nice rumours/old wives tales going round... In these kind of games, you don't want to supply a narrative straight up, but you've got to do three things to keep the humans interested. 1. No one, NO ONE, can ever feel perfectly safe. SafER, yes, but never safe. 2. To balance out the quitters who will leave because they can never feel perfectly safe, you have to make sure you supply hope/desire/curiosity/change. 3. You have to do it in such a way that people believe that its happening in the world, that it isn't at the behest of some unfair intelligence targetting them specifically just to level the playing field. It has to be reasonable, random, rare, and unpredictable. I suggest if you can work these kinds of things into the mechanics of the game/engine/environment skillfully, you'll have the psychological equivalent of gaming crack. -
Hah this happened to me and my friend as well, although i was the one driving. Hit a pile of rubble at like 4km/s and he dies, i get knocked out with 1,5k blood. I log out, and my friend runs for half an hour and saves me. 2 hours later we find a bus, spend ages repairing it and drive it off into the forest to save it in a safe place. After driving at elast 2 km to the middle of nowhere i get out to save it and is instantly shot to 648 blood. It all ends with my friend logging back on the next day saving my ass. I guess vehicles just arent our thing.

Sometimes when Ive flipped vehicles, after logging back in they have appeared back on their wheels. Could be that a server restart did it. Damn ATV's so easy to roll at night.

It's funny because the solution is so simple I don't understand why they haven't done it yet. 1: do a hive whipe, make everyone restart. 2: remove tents from the game. Tents (and to some extend vehicle slots but atleast vehicles are "rare") are the one thing I don't understand what they are doing in this game. Tents in itself, even when duping is fixed, breaks the very core of the game. Tents are the reason everyone is a bandit nowadays. Tent's prevent that gear gets lost, as all loot even when not duped gets stacked into tents, so there is no "loot sink" if you know what I mean. Weapons don't get discarded, they simply go from player to player or are put into a tent which means that over time weapons become less rare. Also death loses it's meaning with tents in the game, unless you care about your debug monitor stats. You are death? np just run to your tent filled with gear and take a nice kit from there (even when not duped). It's ridiculous, ofcourse if there is no punishment for death people are going to be dicks. It's just another game then in which you kill people and when you die you get your gear back anyway. Now maby if tents where some extremely rare item it wouldn't be such a problem but that isn't the case either. cliffs: Removing tents fixes almost every player issue apart from hackers.

I hacker could infact obtain admin rights using scripts. It is however not required to do all kinda crazy shit. On a sidenote, there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel, I hear whispers of a new beta patch coming which will block hackers from spawning weapons and vehicles.

Doesn't matter how many times i get killed and start over for whatever reason DayZ has some really amazing moments that are what i play for the most. Like last character i had was just about over a week old had a ghillie as50 and m14 + all the other necessary end game stuff like nvg's and rangefinders, the only thing i was lacking was a coyote. Well on the server me and my friends had been playing on we had a white offroad pickup truck and a bicycle and were trying to hijack a ural that we had seen on seperate occasions being used by another group. We were mid moving campsites, the other 2 of my buddies were in the pickup and i was trailing not too far behind on the bike when the driver of the pickup stopped for a sec (not sure why or what for) and i pulled up behind. Then everything went to shit as i see the ural belonging to the other group fly over a hill towards us and just barely avoid smashing into the pickup, all the while honking and one of them was on direct comm yelling the most hilarious thing possible "toot toot motherfuckers". So i ride up the hill eject off the bike as the ural pulls up next to me and one of the guys in the truck starts to say something to me, i didn't quite catch it but i was still in the mindset that i was going to hijack this ural so i open fire on what i thought was the driver but with my great knowledge of vehicles it was the passenger and the ural moves forward back towards where the pickup is making its escape, i promptly take out the tires forcing it to stop and one guy gets out and floors me while i'm still reloading. Somehow they ended up catching and destroying our pickup and a few minutes later gearing in elektro while in the market i hear the ural's engine and it stops out front and a player gets out, i try to escape out back but he circles around and shoots me with a bizon while saying the familiar phrase of "toot toot again motherfucker". Anyway that's my un-necessarily long reason for why the hackers and whatnot don't really phase me, events like that keep me playing because they are un-like any other game. -

I have lost somewhere around 15 or 20 vehicles in the past two weeks. And 7 of them were a v3s. -
People are trading vehicles now lol, you know on server restart it'll go back to its spawn location so only a fool would trade.

I play legit and do no duping, server hopping, hacking or any exploit I know whatsoever. I don't use tents and dont touch vehicles, only ride bicycles when I find them. Food, water and medical supplies are way too easy to come by. I only carry one primary weapon with me at all times and my Alice pack is full of food, water and medical supplies at all times. Usually when looting I will eat and drink since Im full of food and water and found more. There are way too many canned foods in the game as it is, then you can hunt on top of that. Hunting should be a necessity after the first hour or so of a life. I constantly pick up soda cans and dont even touch the water bottles... which should be a necessity to keep and refill regularly. If you hit up a hospital once you have all the medical supplies you need for tens of hours, which is rediculously easy to do. Zombies pose no threat whatsoever once you know how to deal with them properly. I don't loot bodies for ammo or weapons as I want to take out the factor that i may be using duped/hacked weapons, yet weapons and ammo are still really easy to come by for low and mid range weapons. Hit up a couple of deer stands (which are way too easy to loot with only 3 zombies) if you have an AK (insert variant) and you will have all the ammo you need. If your using a different primary like CZ550 you will get all the ammo you need and then some from barns. All low and mid range weapons and ammo are easy to get. I can't comment on high level because of the graphical glitches I cant get close to military spawns very often. There are only a few loot items that are even close to being balanced. NVGs and range finders seem about right. Pretty much everything else is too common.

If we believe its such an issue? Excuse me sir, but do you even play dayz? The game has nearly become a terrible version of battlefield with zombies. Everyone spawns in Cherno/Elektro, and deathmatches it out. The food chain starts at the top with all of the AS50 wielding SUPER LEGIT kids (because the AS50, Ghillie, and ALL survival tools are sooooo god damned common that of course 9 people in the hills of Elektro have them), and whittles down to the chumps running around with hatchets providing some sort of enjoyment for the scripting fat kids in the hills. Whats the point of even trying to survive when you know you will either die to a teleporter, get thunderdomed, or godmode/invisied by a nerd with unlimited ammo and time on his hands? Even if you do manage to survive your first 2 hours - you find a tent, hell, maybe even a vehicle or two, set up camp in some uber secret place that no one would ever find.. Except that at some point between you logging off and back on, a hacker has - SHOCKINGLY ENOUGH - flattened your tents and destroyed your vehicles leaving you stranded miles in the wilderness, only to run hours to a city and probably die on the way or as soon as you get there by - you guessed it - another hacking piece of shit. This game is literally getting assraped by hackers right now, its like that episode of South-Park where the new Indiana Jones movie comes out and they keep seeing him getting raped by the producers.... The DayZ team, as well as the community, are getting raped by hackers... Dont play it off like its some uncommon thing. "Go bitch at BattlEye if you believe its such an issue." no issue here AMIRITE?

they will have logs of me spawning into their base 1 time. but i didnt know their base was there. it was as accidental as them restarting the server after i stole their vehicles and blew their base up. (thats why i didnt know there base was there, i had just blown it up so it wasn't actually there any more) -

You're a fool, if you don't want to host, then don't host. Using hosting as your "getaway card" is simple just abusing your rights, if you had lost your vehicles by a confirmed hacker, then you should report ban the player, and find your vehicles legitly again, what is the point of to a survival simulator, if all you're doing is cheating... seriously? Hell you still had another car, so why complain I have had worse, and I am sure others have had even worse situations than I have ^^ -
scripting is not the problem here , to be honest i don't give a fuck if a guy spawns a chopper or weapons like crazy. because i still have a chance in a pvp situation against a guy like this. (untill he is on godmode) the problem is actually aimbot and wallhacks / teleports / no recoil / broking legs (all those are not working with scripts) and this is exactly the ones i monitored. 8 death on 10 today where actually invisible hacker + break legs or blood loss unlimited. i never die to crazy vehicles spawner or thunderdome or whatever , i never seen those. i just die to guy who teleport next to me after i log on. i admit my conclusion are too fast and uncocrrect for people who love Exact numbers. the 50/50 coinflip survival is actually relevant .even without monitoring i can still clearly see that i will die everytime after i get fully geared in my camp 5min i go arround a pvp place (still undercover) for my tent post that was a special question as i wanted to set that tent in wilderness for sometimes to repair a car. not for a main camp. if you read carefuly that post you would understand that i wanted to basicaly knew if i could save some tent in wilderness (yeah i wanted to exploit) you are looking at a specific question concerning one tent in wilderness it was not about regular camps. i am french and sometimes is difficult to understand me well as you seen in all my posts. have a nice day beanking : pm me one of your golden server and i'll fraps all the things you pretend as a lie. and youll see the problems dosent come from bad play at all or suicidal tendencies.

Huge Update!!!!! Hello Remco Tesselaar (Surviving the Horror), Today we've released a MAJOR security patch for DayZ. You must do the following, 1. Install - DayZ 1.7.2.5 & Arma2OA 96061 Security Patch 2. Goto Configuration Files => "Server Configuraiton File" Configuration Editor and save your file as it is without any changes. 3. Start your DayZ server. You must do this A.S.A.P to avoid any hackers on your server. This patch should resolve most of the hacking issues on your server. It prevents spawning of vehicles and weapons, it also prevents users from being able to acquire the server.cfg variables. Best Regards, Vilayer LTD -

1: Ability to drink with cupped hands from water sources (slower and more risk because it takes longer etc) 2: Ability to plant explosives under vehicles (sabotage) 3: Get rid of the silly high tech weapons make it a better balance ( personally go back in time a few years where heat vision doesn't exist etc) <== not going to be popular i know 4: Stop the duping as its a game breaker 5: Make tents like backpacks so you can see how much is in them 6: Stop the getting up animation so you can bandage lying down when in a fight 7: Add military camps where you can fight against forces for better goodies (left over remants of miltary that have banded together to survive) 8: Use the same system as the underground stuff where its not part of the sheet cant remember what its called to create healing areas and trading areas with no active weapons (or toolz to do so) 9: Get something in the game to make people want to work together sometimes as apposed to killing each other like it is atm 10: Boards for kill for profit for bad people or good ones :P 11: Maybe some kind of simple banking system storage / lockbox perhaps that the reward is put into for the job and the player can access after the job is complete. 12 Roving military camps 3 vehicles 25 men that are in a different position everyday (for suprise attacks) 13: Cookpot option and item to be able to cook higher value food recovery 14: More food options plants vegetables nicked from fields etc ( Low health gain individually unless added to number 13) 15: Reduce animal food benefits to force people to use campires and cookpots (more risk for reward) 16: Login arrival check that wont allow near another player bumps them 300 yards away or some something to stop them running behind you and coming back in sheet and killing you. 17: Seasonal weather changes surprise snow storms in winter to make the ghillie boys stand out :) 18: Frosty Ground, noise carrys further 19: Sort the zombies out please and increase the speed in houses and make them more of a threat ( we should be scared of the zombies and terrified of players) the only real threat is players atm 20: Women Kids OAP zombies just all types, its supposed to be real remember 21: Some kind of team mechanic/benefit that by joining together we get increased ammo spawns maybe or food spawns or some kind of team benefit for being a survival team 22: some kind of entry map like Lingor for eg where low value stuff can be found then board a ferryboat (weapons disabled) or network of tunnels you have to survive to get to the main area chernarus where the better stuff is. This will give noobs the better learning curve before they experience full on death 23: Make cheranus bigger prob x3 if possible we should not be able to run all the helicopter crashes in one night on foot 24: Heli crashes should be more varied too same old same old atm 25: No camping or vehicles of map ever.. 26: More possible places to hide tents rock formations, clumps of trees etc (its not bad atm but could be a little better) then it would be a challenge to find the best tents 27: Attacked by zombie dogs on farms etc (make it apply to animals as well ) being attacked by a zombie chicken would be funny :P 28: make zombies appear at a greater distance from the player so we cant use them for player detection 29: Make zombies hunt in packs in the large towns and maybe travelling packs/herds of zombies in the woods etc 30: Make item spawns be spawned way before we get there often not spawned if you rock up on a vehicle 31: Make sleeping in tents an option to recover health (risk/reward) 32: Blood injectors gives 2000 short fix (simple syringe) Or 33: Blood bags usable on yourself but only gives half the blood or maybe 4000 34: Barbed wire cannot be used in doorways of buildings 35: Make pliers available as an item so you can do basic stuff like cut the wire (toolboxes for the more advanced stuff like remove the wire or build it) 36: Limit the amount of weapons that can be stored in a vehicle a little( players should be concerned about survival not having 6 AS50 spares) I'm sure there's a load more but that's a few for now. One more thought about having an entry sheet before the main sheet it would keep chernarus really hard which is what we want, a zombie aftermath like this would be incredibly difficult and that's how it should be. Make this game as realistic as you possibly can within the boundaries of the code and whats possible, but don't allow the silliness with people having 50 AS50s stashed in trucks etc make the high end guns incredibly rare which will encourage people to use whatever is available, imho the duping has really spoiled the mod as there is no challenge, every tent you come across has tons of stuff in it. Cars stillt not saving?

I can confirm it is not vehicles created before the patch. In many cases when a server patches every vehicle in the game resets back to it's spawn position. I also have this saving issue. What I do to save is park the vehicle. Then wait 30 secs to a minute if not more. Then I click save. I then just for safe measure repeat the process in a OCD like manner until I can feel that it is safe to leave them. This usually works... I however have noticed that if a vehicle does save it's position it does not save anything in it in the new patch. So never trust your loot to your vehicle until they fix this stuff... One thing you can do is revert to the old patch and bounce back and forth between versions when you want to change servers. I have a camp in a old version server mainly for the reason that it saves items more regularly. Also pay attention to where you save your vehicle... If you are saving it in the far north anywhere, you might think it is safe there but you would be dead wrong. People like to wander up in the north looking for camps.. Hell we do the same thing and get very lucky doing it. We get a lot more cars stolen than unsaved. -
NVG drop from "pilot zombies".

I can confirm that I have looted NVGs off Zombies at Chopper Crash sites and Military Zombies at deer stands. The only way I have got NVGs in this game are off Pilot Zombies at crash sites, Military Zombies at deer stands and by looting other players, their vehicles or tents. Ive never had NVGs from standard "in building" loot drops. EDIT: Although I don't loot the military loot places often as I suffer from the graphical glitches and I nothing Ive tried works. -
I think cars/tents that were created BEFORE the patch 1.7.2.4 could very well be working. I can't confirm because i don't have any cars that were repaired prior to patch 1.7.2.4. The funny thing is, go to any private server, cars and tents work 100% of the time. What does that mean? It's not the game/tents/vehicles that are bugged, it's the HIVE!

Yes, shooting from vehicles would be great. Possibility a waste of ammo and highly inaccurate but still great to have. -
Some people still manage to save their vehicles tho, so does this bug only happen to some cars/some servers/ some people?

i got instantly killed with no gunshot sound. not camping ;) when i say elektro i spawn 1kilometer away in forest at night then i thermal vision scout,i dont spawn in middle. so... i wont argue anymore with someone close minded and convinced that i am some sort of attention whore that made all of this to require attention. i just wanted to help the community to point on real problems. my tents save perfectly , where did you read that bullshit ? see you later on the standalopne fanboy :) i have no problems at all with tents or gear. and this is why im actually only doing pvp because except repairing a chopper there is nothing more to discover for me by the way if you want my camps location and see how newbie i was i'll give it to you all as im quitting dayz for some time ;) free nvgs and all highend stuff , all legit scavenged with my clan on vehicles. if you sruvive more than 15mins on any server you logs with the gear i offer you. i might reconsider your point of view. wanna oganize the challenge ? ill give you the stuff and you have to survive for more than 15min on random servers . if you can survive more than 3 attemtps , i will buy you the standalone and few others games. : challenge accepted ? or pissing your pants because you know you are wrong but you just try to make me rage in a subtle troll way ? (oohhh you a reddit fanboy ,i shouldn't even read your posts i understand better why im talking to a close minded martian that wouldnt even believe his own mother (reddit people)
