There is a very good reason why there aren't any armed (except Huey, of course) or even armored vehicles - zombies don't stand a chance against any of them (even with civilian vehicles you can just roadkill dozens of them easily). Players with better equipment can succesfully fight against armed vehicles, sure, but for armored vehicles you have only satchel charges (try to destroy moving tank with it) or M136, both very rare.

US 916 Banned for almost looting?

Look, I'm not sure how ban appeals get sorted here, I'm very new to these forums and the system, but I guess I kinda wanna bump this, as I haven't gotten any help so far. I just want to be unbanned from US 916, the admin can kill me to make sure I'm not hacking, and in fact, he can kill me however often he likes to make sure I'm not lying. I'm just being left behind by my friends because they can play on that server, and I can't. We have a camp, a couple vehicles, and 916 runs like a dream for my ping. Please, I just want back on the server, my ban doesn't even make credible sense, I'm not a hacker and I did nothing wrong. -
Hence why a Water Jerry Can mountable with a slot on vehicles is a good idea. You can't find water so often in so many places. It doesn't require a lot of coding to use them, unlike the complex situation you are suggesting. You could leave water bottles the same and refill them 50 times from a Jerry Can. Refill the Jerry once every few days depending on your group size. Infantry trained people and survivalists understand that you do need to take much more water with you if possible especially in hot places for safety. They also understand using Jerry Cans for this purpose. This method would be much more common in an actual SHTF scenario. Future: This could be used by the DEVs as a trading currency in a way. Fuel, Water, and Meat should end up having some value to the greater good in some way or need to be items used in cooperative interest. Jerry Cans of Water could be used to fill a Radiator that is damaged on a car if you wanted to add a new item to vehicles for repair reasons. Water could be needed to clean wounds so they can be bandaged or repaired, such as certain broken bone or pain situations (would require an indicator that you require medical treatment from a nurse). There are a lot of uses for larger amounts of clean water. Also, check out this video of the lifesaver being used It requires pumping for a while and that makes noise. That leaves you vulnerable and takes time. You have a long filling animation I would suppose.

Whats the Average Ping for someone from South America in a U.S. Server?

I am from south america and normally get 200ms ping on US servers. I'm jelly you have (or had) so many vehicles ¬¬ -
Player grabbing and such: sure, I think that's realistic, but hell there better be away to get out of it for the "grabbie". Melee: Yep, gonna be more in Standalone. Jumping: Eh, COD kids would have a field day with that. Nope. Rappeling: Maybe a rare loot tool in military places or sporting type areas. Would be hard in the engine they are using. tracking: Totally, I mean, You can already track vehicles that knock over fences or bushes or even trees. But yeah I like it. Mutations: Nope, this isn't LFD man.

Okay, so according to everything I have read on the wiki and through a good bit of the forum, the spawn settings for the Huey are limit one per server. I don't have proof as of right now, but when I get home from work I'll be sure to take a screenshot, my group has managed to comandeer 3 hueys. 2 of which are still able to fly. I don't know anything about a way to spawn in vehicles and what not, nor do I want to know, but these hueys when they were found needed repairs/gas. TL;DR I guess what I'm trying to ask through all the rambling is, "Is it possible to have more than one Huey on the servers now without hacks?" Thanks Much

Quick update: I found a couple vehicles and found out theres more than one admin on this server! Nice to see you have more than one pair of eyes on it.

I posted earlier, that the clan XXT were hackers, and I was told I needed evidence. Well here you go, this is one of their most frequent players and has over 700 ping spikes, normally has about 200 - 600. These are the only clan that also plays aside from [KGB] and they are allies to my clan. So hey, when you have people TP right infront of you with automatic AS50s you sorta know their not gonna be "friendly in Cherno" nor friendly about me tracking down their camp (hack-free) and have my guys repossess everything they stole from us. Then their group of 5 took all of our Vehicles, including an old hatchback, red Skoda, and GAZ, incredibly slow offroad. 4 atv's 1 motorbike, 2 offroad trucks, 1 UAZ, 1 URAL, and 1 V35... so tell me, in 20 minutes how was all that found and gone by (atm) 2 of their clan mates? Admin abuse US1320, restarting the server after vehicle is stolen

So just because Dez says he is sorry means that everything is all okay? It's not that he did it once, he restarted the server multiple times so I could not steal one of their vehicles. The server has also been down ever since. This whole thread is just showing every dayz server admin that if you shut down the server multiple times and get caught and reported if you say sorry, you aren't in any trouble. There was also another poster in here, Killer777s, who reported them for restarting the server after he killed one of them. It isn't just a one time thing, server admins need to show self control and responsibility which Dez obviously has not acquired yet. There's a difference between whining about an admin, and actually having concrete proof of abusive admins. -
For those of you have driven vehicles in DayZ, most of you know that if shot enough the vehicles will explode. Same will happen if your vehicle is in bad shape and you tap a bush, tree, or shoddy wooden fence. If you shoot a sedans tires a few times with an AS50, you wont just flatten the tires, the car will... explode. Killing all or most inside and or next to it. I think it would be nice if cars exploding was rare. Shooting the engine block, and or tires should just destroy that part and make it so it must be replaced. Cars generally do not explode when shot in real life. Is there a possibility for it to happen? Yes. Does it happen all the time? NO. Yes, I understand that it's a game/mod and not truly realistic. Though, when the game is striving to have some realistic aspects (er... zombies aside) It would be nice if you were able to just disable a car without worrying about it exploding and killing the occupants. Or, worrying that the ATV you're on will randomly explode from tapping a bush or small fence. Maybe I want to shoot out the tires and car jack the guy driving it. Take his car and make him run into the woods without killing him.... This gets insanley hard to do when his engine has low health because one too many shots hitting the front end blow it up. Anyone else think vehicles should only explode when explosives are used? Rocket launcher, satchel charges, grenades, m203 etc. Just seems silly that a sedan will explode just because it's in bad shape and ran over a sheep, or took an AKM round to the radiator... An example: My friend found a tractor with full health and half a tank of gas. Decided to take it, and ended up hitting a hay bail at a very slow speed. He broke his legs, and it instantly exploded and killed him before he could get out. I swear he had to have been going 10mph... Now, while it was hilarious and I almost died laughing, it shouldn't have happened... Anyway, just an idea. Have at it with bashing or additions and changes etc.

Looks like a hacked vehicle to me... Nobody stores those smoke grenades! EDIT Not saying that you hacked it btw, probably the guys you stole it from... would explain the exact same truck crossing your path a few seconds after you got yours. In any case, do not feel bad, hacked-in vehicles don't respawn after server restarts, so nothing truly lost. -
Understanding Why the Game is Getting Boring

ZdB, While that was a blunt statement, my intentions are meant to be good. I am all for standalone. But like any game in its infancy, people lose interest, the game loses content from lack of large scale feedback, and overall the game will suffer. Over the many weeks, I have seen numerous players quit the game, the number of servers dropping, the interest in the game itself is dropping due to bugs/lack of new content/and hackers. For almost a month now, a mixture of graphics glitches/tents and vehicles not saving/scripters, people just are giving up and moving on(temporarily or permanent). Like Banicks said, the mod version still can be used for the brainstorming ideas, regardless if they are working on a standalone to push out a alpha game to start cashing in on their idea, which they do deserve, but one thing people always forget, we are the consumers and that in the end decides a success of the game. Its a popularity contest and if you don't keep up with it, you'll fall behind. I saw it happen in the last game I followed, Path of Exile. -

I currently play in a group of 5~6. Each night we do a variety of stuff which includes supply runs, human/suvivor hunting, heli-crash hunting, and vehicle salvaging. my arsenal includes as50, m4a1SD, smoke grenades, and fortification items. i currently play as a scouter/spotter/scavenger. the other players in our small squad play as Yos- Sniper / spotter. as50, L85 Mike- Sniper / Scouter m16 acog, DMR ( squad leader ) chad- Scouter / Commando m16a2 m203, flare rounds, m4a1SD astrum - commando / medic / scouter - m4a1SD, M104 ( shotty ) smoke grenades, ( currently MIA) dav - sniper / coverfire - support . AS50, DMR, m9 sd we are a cautious scavenging/ /salvaging group. we mainly travel during the darkness. We tend to avoid driving any vehicles as it attracts too much attention player base. -

But I was wondering how correct this information on the Dayz Wiki is. And if this is true why only one? Is this a game engine limitation? Was just wondering. -
Clan oriented AS50 TWS duping...

Greetings, our Clanserver is, as the title says, bugged. We tested if the Carspawns work, after we fixed a Bus and saved him after driving 30 minutes, i restarted the server and the bus was back at his normal spawn position in cherno. Same happened with a few ATV's, a Military Truck and a Ural. Also, all Items we save in Tents and Cars get whiped after a Server restart to. is this a common problem / problem with the hive or is it the problem of our server hoster?

Our server has been having this issue since it came online. At first no vehicles would spawn on the server which was apparently a known issue with newly onlined servers. The Dev team finally got that fixed a few days ago but now none of the vehicles will save at all. We spent 2 days repairing vehicles and each day during our daily server restart the vehicles respawn in their original spawn location with no repairs or gear saved in them. The issue with tents not saving has been oddly hit or miss. Some clan mates haven't had any trouble with their tents saving gear after a restart but mine and others always have their tents come back empty. Not sure what might be causing this other than 1.7.2.5 because prior we had no problems. Probably going to revert until there's a Dev response and a fix inbound.

yeah on our server vehicles are not saving and neither are tents hope they fix this soon cause there is really no reason to play if we cant save anything -
It's a bug, and it has nothing to do with his server, but the hive itself and DayZ. It happens randomly no matter the server. Just got unlucky. As far as tents disappearing, there are only two reasons I can think of as to why this would happen. Well, 3 actually but that would just come down to being a bug.. 1: They somehow got destroyed and the hive saved the incident, but this is somewhat unlikely since the hive in it's current state isn't saving things properly. 2: They obtained a new mission ID for their server, in which case the slate would be wiped clean. No tents. Vehicles reset to spawn positions. Etc. 3. A bug.

So, we all know about Lingor Island map, and it is pretty popular. Rocket/DayZ dev-team have said they would make other maps for the standalone version. Well, I have a map idea that we all might like. I was thinking something along the lines of Liberty City, from Grand Theft Auto IV. Not exactly the same, but something like that, big towers, crowded streets, many vehicles in good condition, a few parks, and many more buildings to go in. But the whole map would consist of the city, and nothing much else. This would create the feeling of urban combat, which would be really nice. This would also allow for more vertical combat, not just horizontal. We could have air battles, sniper duels between buildings, ambushes in city squares, you name it. I would love to see something like this, sometime within the life of DayZ game/mod. Feedback is welcome, just don't hate in a rude way!

Fixing vehicles works fine, you should only repair the parts that show up yellow/red in the context menu. If you want basic vehicles i suggest you fix up a few ATVs. They are small (aka easy to hide), fast both on- and off-road, have the same amount of storage space as larger vehicles like the UAZ or Bus and easy to find. There are spawnpoints on a mountain between cherno and elektro, west of khelm, and near a house north of NEAF, all of which can spawn up to 2 ATVs. Checking these spawnpoints should net you one pretty fast. The only downside is that they sometimes flip over and it takes some practice to get them back up again, but theres plenty of how-to videos on youtube. Also never ever drive into harbors or over bridges with an ATV...

My point was that in a really contrived way you pointed out a huge flaw in humanity or the logic of first world life. I'm not disagreeing with the loot being the only thing that attaches you to your player. I agreed that something was needed until you mentioned skills, I've supported one skill system idea before and even then I realise it was foolish. It was a good idea however wrong for Day Z... Skills are something your player has, he's versed in all of them but you must know how to use them. The way I can read the clouds or stars in game to know what direction I'm heading in, before that I used a watch and shadows, before that I couldn't navigate until I had a compass... Also I completely endorse OP's suggestion, I just liked your post as it solved the number one issue for me right now which is duping and vehicles being idiots and disappearing.
