    Poor admins are ruining DayZ

    I am the owner of a server. There are two sides to this. I often restart the server, but since 1.7.2.5 i am often reluctant because all the vehicles will move to there previous position. Very annoying..
  2. Hey guys, I am a 22 year old Canadian and I have had tonnes of experience throughout many aspects of Dayz. Ive rebuilt countless choppers/vehicles, trecked the whole map 50 times over and know many little tricks and tips to make the experience of surviving Chenerus a little easier. (Not hacks) I am looking for more experienced mature groups to pair up with in hopes to create a camp, raid towns, rebuild vehicles and work as a unit. I specialize in scavenging/sniping/piloting and have had my hands on every item this game has to offer at one point or another.   3. Usually Server restarts are done regularly to restart the scripts that run the game making it run smoother and work correctly. They also cause destroyed vehicles to respawn such as the helicopter or say a car that was shot up and exploded. These vehicles still require fixing most times but they are now fixable as opposed to being totally messed up and non repairable. Its not supposed to affect tents but at times you may loose items or actually gain items in your tent due to server restart.

    Well I don't want that, however I do find that we lack vehicles which aren't a death trap when you drive them through a town.
  5. You find 3 vehicles in one night and consecutively trash them all because you're a retard? First I found an ATV, repaired it's two wheels, engine, fuel tank, the usual. Then I do with it what ATV's do best (no, not flip) go offroads, I go on a search of the Northern forrests for vehicles. Well I hit the jackpot mofo because about 30 minutes in I come across a frikkin chopper and a bus. They're both all green, the chopper has no fuel, the bus half a tank and I have 3 full jerry cans on me. So it's dilemma time, I want that chopper, am I going to make fuel runs in the ATV to fill it up or will 3 jerry cans worth be enough to get the chopper to the nearest available refuel point. ...three jerry cans was not sufficient. The chopper downed in the far North of the NWAF seconds away from a refueling point. I then went back to my ATV with all 2K of blood, passing out many times along the way. About 30 seconds after getting on I flip it. So I run to the bus and after driving through the slow ass dirt tracks of the north finally reach Vybor. Due to the dark and my unfamiliarity with the town I presume I can just roll this big bus right on through their stopping at the supermarket on the way. 30 MINUTES LATER I'M STILL FUCKING IN THERE TRAPPED BETWEEN CARS AND ROADBLOCKS. Finally I get out and say 'fuck it I'll walk' at which point a zombie knocks me out cold and chews me to death. It was never supposed to end like this....

    More (useful) vehicles.

    There are military weapons in Dayz, there are humvee wrecks all over the place. And now it's odd that I want more (drive able)military-like/stronger vehicles? :S
  7. I know the development of the end game content is very far away for the dayz development team but I thought this idea would fit in very well. After playing dayz for a long time I always wondered why would you spawn on the coastline and only the coastline? So I thought maybe u came from a huge ship / ocean liner that did experiments on people maybe to develop a cure maybe not, who knows, but you some how got thrown off the ship and you float to the coast. There could be a lot of reasons why there is a ship out at sea chucking people onto the coast so I would like to hear everyone’s ideas / reasons or back stories for this idea. Ocean liner as end game content: To take on such a huge ocean liner you would need to gather up a huge amount supplies with your teammates. You will need to gather very rare guns and equipment e.g. you will need a helicopter and a few boats for your team to gain access to the ship, huge amounts of ammo to kill what is on the ship and a few explosives or other weapons to destroy or get through certain rooms with in the ocean liner. My opinion is they should make it insanely hard and almost impossible to mount an attack on this military ocean liner making it so you would need to take a huge group of survivors to be successful and really plan out the attack and strategize, making it very hard to successfully take the ocean liner will really give high level players something to strive for instead of just killing other players. After their first couple of failed attempts and losing all their gear on the attack they will think twice before they attack it again. Now I know how much rocket doesn’t want NPCs army soldiers etc. to be implemented into the game, but this idea just fits so well with the current non existent story line of dayz and it will gives those big squads and teams of survivors something to work towards. To take on a huge military ocean liner that put you in this hell whole to begin with and to get the best possible weapons/vehicles in the game. I would like to hear ideas of what loot could be on the ship or even possible vehicles. The ocean liner could be filled with rooms of infected or hostile NPC army soldiers or rooms where you can see scientists doing experiments. (It’s really up to the development team and rocket to what will be on the ship but here are some possible things to see on this ocean liner) 1: zombies have taking over the entire ship and there are no survivors. (Though if there are just zombies it will be a lot easier to take the ship) 2: there are NPC soldiers / scientists on the ship. (and only a few infected) 3: there are both zombies and soldiers and the soldiers are trying to contain the zombies. 4: you could go onto the ship secretly and release the virus to turn every on the ship into the infected there fore making it easier to take over. So even if rocket doesn’t want NPC soldiers on this ocean liner (though I think it would be a lot harder and more challenging to take the ship if there are NPC soldiers) you could still implement this into the new stand-alone game and give dayz a small back story / endgame content which will be much needed for the high level players of dayz! It also gives you an idea of the back-story without reveling much of what is going on, people can then speculate to why that ocean liner is there and if we really did come from the ocean liner. What will we discover when we take the oceanliner? It really draws people to it tempting them to attack it to find out what is in it and why it is there etc. This post is in general discussion and in suggestions figured it should be in both. So please tell me what you think about this idea for the back story of dayz and end game content, I would love to hear your story lines to the oceanliner and why it is there and throwing people onto the coast any other ideas for the end game content such as what gear you would see on it and vehicles and how hard it should be etc. I hope you read this rocket!   9. Didn't I watch a video EXACTLY like this encounter today? An unarmed man in a ghillie suit who can drive vehicles and phase in and out of existence? Although the video I was watching was in Kameka, not Mountain That Must Not Be Named. He appears to be the Slenderman of Chernarus!

    newbie questions

    It depends on what gear everyone has and what not. If everyone has room for 1-2 morphine, some bandages, and a blood bag for themselves, you should get along ok. Now if everyone needs space for extra primaries and ammo and such, it is nice to have a guy with a bag full of meds. Just make sure he doesn't go down right away, and even if you have a dedicated medic, still carry a couple bandages and a morphine yourself, just incase. As for mechanic, I play in small groups and haven't had much luck with vehicles anyways, but I don't see the need. Store parts at your camp and when you go vehicle hunting, load up and move out. Jerry Cans can just be stored in the vehicle once you find it.

    Assuming that you are the server owner, thank-you for coming on the forums to address the issue. I really don't believe you were experiencing problems with hackers that night... But it's a nice excuse. FACT #1: There were only 8 people out of 30 on the server. Me, CaptainCrunch, 4 of your clan members, and 2 random people. Also, hackers typically only target high-population servers. FACT #2: Only a couple people were killed over the course of the hour (including one of your clan members - I believe your door gunner since he had no loot on his body) - indicating that no one was teleporting and mass-killing the server. Again, not a sign of hackers. If I had to guess, you probably thought WE were hackers seeing as how we fixed a helicopter at the same time as you guys. Hence: So just because you have a hunch, that automatically means to restart WITHOUT any proof? Besides, even if we were hackers, couldn't we just rejoin and spawn another helicopter? I don't understand the significance of restarting the server. It doesn't stop hackers. :s FACT #3: Asides from 1 clan member, no one else from [ETW] rejoined the server after restarting it. So why restart it unless it was to intentionally screw us over? Even then, why make it so obvious? All of your clan members rage quit after 2 died THEN, 5 minutes later, it restarts? Come on. Seriously? FACT #4: You did not post an admin global message warning of the server restart. Even if you did, and we had time to save it, the hive is NOT saving vehicles currently. FACT #5: I'm not the only player with complaints about your server and admin abuse. If you would've come on here, confessed, and promised to regulate server restarts (Example: "Server restarts will only happen at 12:00AM EST and 12:00PM EST") then perhaps you would gain the trust of more players. But when you restart the server sporadically in excess of 4+ times per day, you wonder why I can't say I'll be visiting your server again anytime soon.
  13. I've been meaning to reply to your post earlier but I've been a little busy. We still haven't implemented Anti-Hax on our server BUT I see a large potential problem for admins who have this weekend. A cheater came on one of our server and remotely executed cheats on ALL of our players resulting in the following logs for ALL players: 24.08.2012 10:27:18: USERNAME (IP) GUID - #121 " _whatIsThis = compile fap_fnExec; call _whatIsThis; " 24.08.2012 10:27:18: USERNAME (IP) GUID - #122 " _whatIsThis = compile fap_fnExec; call _whatIsThis; " 24.08.2012 10:27:18: USERNAME (IP) GUID - #97 "if (isnil ("bInvisibleOn")) then {reyalPyMtcejbo hideObject true;};" Later the last line was replaced with this 24.08.2012 10:31:15: USERNAME (IP) GUID - #20 " if (isServer) then { _dsasadsa = createVehicle ['M1030', [554.713, 3819.73, 0], [], 0, 'CAN_COLLIDE']; _dsasadsa setVariable" I assume this would have triggered bans for every player logged if I was running AH on our server so hopefully this helps you guys. There were reports of mass deaths and all vehicles be teleported into the ocean.

    yea i'm currently stuck floating mere inches above the water after a hacker tp'd all the vehicles to him and the admins closed the server, soooo i'm fucked.
  15. Tell him to come over here, we have had to many problems with vehicles and tents to upgrade. So we ended up downgrading, 1.7.2.5 brought us nothing but bugs. We would have our truck transformed into a bus or bike after a restart and all types of crazy stuff. So we decided it was best to stick with 1.7.2.4 until 1.7.3 came out.

    Well tell them to A. Roll back to when the game was playable (tents and vehicles saves worked) or B. Release the new patch with the problem fixed within the next day or so. To us its like you break the game then completely ignore the problem, not one official statement released about this MAJOR problem..its like wtf are u doing
  17. You would be correct in saying that, I'm just saying that 1.7.2.5 right now is a pile of garbage.. tents dont work, vehicles don't work thats why our server isn't even running it. Like I said HL3 will be out before we get anything better than the garbage that is 1.7.2.5. Who knows when 1.7.3 will come out. Dev time has surely slowed down a TON lately but I'm sure thats due to the standalone, or rocket just being a boss now with all that cash hes getting.

    Removal of high powered rifles

    High-Powered rifles (ie the As50) are actually quite rare in the spawn values. The only reason you see/hear/get hit by a .50 cal every five seconds is because of snipers and dupers. As for military gear being more rare... Sure, they could be more rare, but remember that there was at least at one time a large military force present in Chernarus, which would explain the thousands of military zombies and bodies, and the hundreds of destroyed military vehicles. The reason for the weapons being there is pretty friggin' solid.

I get you point, i bought Arma 2 years before Day z came out but if your playing on a military game and raiding military bases shouldnt there at least be a small chance of getting SPECIAL MILITARY VEHICLES. ALSO id like to point out that the only vehicles in Arma 2 that would fit thoses discriptions are like LAV's with cannons on them so there would have to be major coding (Like making a mod for arma 2 and then compatibilizing(<=====Made up that word it)it with Day z

    Well, as far as I can tell, tents and vehicles aren't saving correctly atm, so I haven't bothered with them. I've found a couple in the last few days, hold on to em for a while, then end up dropping them for more important things like morphine.

    LOL! And these tents had hacked in items like M40A3 and G36C Camo SD. AND there were 6 other users online with you who were all spawning local vehicles like the SUV and Land Rover, all of which were banned. Don't know what else to say.
  22. I've talked about this with my friends a lot, as there are issues with DayZ that we think could be easily solved by going to a WW2 setting. Most of them are obvious, such as L85A2 Thermal spotting being an instant-win in a lot of fire fights, taking away from the spirit of the game and anti-materiel rifles being used against people that result in 1-shot kills anywhere on the body. By going to a WW2 scenario, not only would it explain why there are weapons everywhere, but you could even include tanks and other military vehicles without it seeming strange. Weapon spawns would make sense, as there is a war going on and sniper rifles, whilst still being very good, wouldn't be the PvP instant-win as almost all would be bolt-action and have relatively poor optics. To me, setting DayZ during WW2 1944 makes a lot of sense. You get rid of the powerful, and possibly unbalanced, non-sense and it comes back down to tactics, awareness and movement. It opens the game up for more possibilities and "cool stuff" like an incredibly rare luger drop or possibly even bayonets for when you run out of bullets. Hell, even flame throwers were used in WW2. Badass.

    Edited: sorry in advance for the stupidly long post, I fail at message boards. The teamspeak is indeed passworded but the fact is that regulars on our server who show us that they are mature individuals are allowed on to use it and bring their friends on. They do sometimes join up with us and other times shoot at us, but because they act in a civil manor and don't go around spouting enough whine to drown France in we have no issues with them being on. On the logging in thing, even though in this instance I was not about, so what? that's the point off being in a clan or having friends. The game/mod as it is now holds very little interest for many of us other then looking for a fight and this fact won't change until they fix the tents, trucks and chopper and do a wipe of the hive. There are currently so many camps set-up by us and others on this server full of items that infinitely re spawn that we don't have a 'home camp' any more, there's no point as anything we need is littered everywhere right now, why gather in 1 location and make ourselves a target? You did, as Glanza pointed out, come across two old camps which have not been in use for several weeks due to them being compromised by a group of people who were caught hacking and caused us no ends of trouble for well over a week. We setup, used and left these places long before you showed up on the server so anything you found at them currently has nothing to do with UX. What people have done however is check these locations every now and then to see if anyone has started using them in the hopes of finding trouble. Now vehicles, unbeknown to VK I have a bike, its a very nice bike, requires no fuel and no matter how many tree's or rocks I ride into it never seems to break, I like my bike, its green! but this is the only mode of transport that UX currently has 'stashed' away, any other truck we find is generally used until it runs out of fuel or driven into a tree and then abandoned or blown up. This is because there is no point in having them as they don't save items and half the time don't even save location and I like blowing things up. We have tried so many times to fix the chopper for it to either de spawn after a restart or get deleted in mid-air by a hacker that we honestly don't bother with it any more, I have even stated many times on TS that if I catch any UX member attempting to fix it I will shoot them in the leg and steal their morphine. Honestly while I want more people on the server willing to put up a good fight, collect trucks for me to steal and blow up and raid camps (and hopefully when fixed clear out the tents on the server) I think if you find your current situation on the server undesirable that it would be best to find a new home... DayZ is nothing more then a PVP game/mod with a zombie themed logo and our server is no different. I would also suggest that, while my post does not help with this point, that we all just let this one lie, unless you have a legitimate complaint about rule breaking then simply disliking a way people play on their own server is not a cause for a thread. If you want to stay on our server then great, I look forward to more encounters with you, but please have a little perspective, we have several other clans playing on our server as well as plenty of other groups so not everything that happens to you is masterminded or carried out by UX.
