So I hear quite a bit about how the bandit skin and hero skins are useful or not useful. To me, neither one is useful because they don't give you any benefit regardless of your humanity. Like a model citizen, I thought about it and came up with an idea. I haven't see anything in the forums like it (and this time I actually did a search!) Instead of having humanity, let's just change the thing to experience. You get experience by killing zombies, killing players, killing animals, giving transfusions, using epi pens, bandaging a wound, eating food, drinking soda, putting up fences, fixing up vehicles, and whatever else is activated by the mouse wheel in default controls (except for opening and closing doors, of course). As you gain more experience playing with that character, the character will actually start to look more and more badass. For example, replace that god awful baseball cap with a beanie or skull cap. Maybe put some gloves on. How about a bandoleer to replace those thigh packs. All of these things just stack on top of each other to slowly make one bad ass mother fucker. None of this would change inventory or add any sort of bonus to your character. It would just make him look like he's actually knows what he is doing. If you like the idea, I request that you put down some ideas for clothing and gear that can be worn on your characters civilian clothing to make them look more awesome. PS Put some damn gloves on the gillie suit while you're at it. It's kind of stupid looking to see a bush running around with hands that are more visible than the face :P

and private servers are broken I have one but its 1.7.2.5 and there is no point playing on it if i cant save tents and vehicles and of course hfb (Horrible F^$&ing service) wont do anything to help except close my tickets without helping.

My goal is to set up a hidden tent camp in the woods near a water source, accumulate a couple vehicles, and continue to travel to towns, raid, and then stock my treasures in my camp. Also, killing bandits. I've done this a few times now, but my camp is always found - BUT this time I found a really, really good place that is really hard to see and is in an unlikely spot that someone would walk to, even if they are looking for camps. At the moment I only have 1 tent there because my last few supermarket raids yielded no tents :(

Worst vehicle hideout EVER. (Ty for the easy stuff) Abit later More vehicles? :o

Trading high-tier loot for good intel on {CQF} operations
[email protected] replied to DayZ Dan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As one of this party, I can confirm this. I was the gunner on our chopper when they banned the pilot mid raid, resulting in my firey death. Was banned the next day whilst roaming the wilderness north of Kamenka with nothing but spawn loot, as was everyone else on the server without a {CQF} tag. Nothing can be done about enforcing rules on a private hive server - is now either offline or private (or so I've heard). Here's a recap of our 'mission' (2nd and 3rd of 4 raids on their base over three days) So Friday night our DayZ crew organised a raid on another clan’s stronghold. Others had done some recon, we knew they had tents, vehicles and a helicopter at a heavily fortified castle to the north. Five of us met up at the nearest town, and headed up the mountain, splitting into two groups near the top. When we got near one of the two guys with me took a bullet to the knee, so we knew there were hostiles at the base. After some patching up and morphine, the two guys flanked to the left whilst I made a run for the wall. I got shot at, no major hits. They went up the outer wall and both got taken out. Meanwhile the other two got shots on a couple of the enemy clan and took them down. I used the diversion as an opportunity to flank around the wall, and made a quick run for their chopper. Jumped in a took off while the other two stole a van full of loot. I then went around the map and picked up the new spawns who died, and those who weren’t around for the first wave of the assault. We met up with the van, fueled up the heli, patched ourselves up, then all 8 of us jumped in the chopper for another run at the castle (screen shots start here: http://imgur.com/a/ClzhY) As soon as we got close another heli takes to the air, guys on the gun takes some shots at them and they retreat. We take some fire from a gunner on the roof of the castle, then decide on another ground assault. The pilot and I (on gun) stay with the chopper while the other 6 head up the mountain. When they get close we fly in to spray them again. Just as our guys reach the others the admins kick the pilot of the chopper, we crash, I die. One of our guys drops a ‘nade in the confusion, manages to take out their guys. End of the day we pwned them, they responded by banning us all from their server. -
Operation: Fix This F!#king Car!
Ipurgepeople replied to MattTheMont's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Pro-tips: Save the vehicle ONCE, don't spam the save. Typically, I tend to save the vehicle every time I get out in a new town or gas up, or if I happen to find something really nice (Like the M16 ACOG and Coyote Backpack I found at the NWAF) I'll save after loading it in. Furthermore, flipped vehicles are returned to their natural alignment upon a server restart, so if you happen to flip your poor car, save it, pull any essentials out of it you can, and log out nearby. -
Any blue-collar bandits looking for help?
JADNOne replied to corbon_hydrashock's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hoarding vehicles/having camps appeals to some people, it wouldn't appeal to a server hopper, all they care about is killing people.. but for some players who play exclusively on one server, having the vehicles/camps (even if they don't save) is a blessing, as you need to be able to move around the map, if you're just server hopping at NWAF for loot, you don't need to move.. you just get the gear, ALT+F4 a loading screen a couple of times, respawn on the coast, and go DM in cherno/elektro... I've played 14 days on my current character, and play exclusively on one server.. killing people is fun for me, but so is attempting to stay alive as long as possible.. There is fun to be had, in following players around, and taking them out at the least expected moments, or knocking them unconscious bandaging them up and leaving them there on the ground, to do it again as soon as they stand up lol.. -
Ok so here is the deal. I run a server with a couple of friends and we fixed up this helicopter. Everything was fine and dandy we were hunting heli crash sites and having a blast in our new helicopter. On one of the heli crash sites we saw, we were going to land so I went to hit auto hover. Instead, I hit engine off, so my helicopter comes crashing down and I die. Fair enough, my mistake. Of what I have read, if a helicopter crashes it respawns immediately, in the same spot or from the original spawn point (this case skalastky island) Checked all heli spawns and nothing. So I go back to where I crashed the helicopter to begin with, and I restart the server. All off a sudden the helicopter respawns in the sky (where I turned the engine off) and comes crashing down and blows up killing me once again. So I go back this time with a cargo truck, and i respawn the server again to see that it comes crashing down from 50 feet or so and keeps blowing up everytime I restart, as it is stuck there or something. So I park the cargo truck directly underneath the helicopter crash site hoping to break its fall a bit.... Well that didnt work, just blew up both vehicles. So it keeps doing this over and over restart after restart and I am wondering how will my helicopter respawn if it just falls from the sky everytime I restart the server. VERY frusterating, any help will be much appreciated. It might be important to note my server has been running 1.7.2.4, but I also switched to 1.7.2.5 to see if it would make a difference, which it did not. Thanks!

Australian Private hive. Vanilla DayZ, no fucked up changes.
The_Monk posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
After the seven millionth time my day was ruined by a hacker, we decided to run a private hive. This is a vanilla DayZ server, standard amounts of vehicles, zombies, spawns etc. The only odd thing we have noticed is that the server appears to be running an older version of the vehicle spawns so the out of game map is useless for car hunting. 3DP: On CH: Off Tags: Off Side Chat: On All of the admins are just players, the owner is the only one with database access and it is used very rarely to check on potential hackers. We love a good firefight and killing an admin will get you a high five rather than a ban. We require a sign up on a facebook page, no payment or any bullshit like that. Its just to keep potential hackers and idiots away. Server resets twice a day and resets to daylight each time. Sign up here: https://www.facebook.com/PFprivatehive Read the about page for what is required on sign up and the servers rules. The rules are common sense like: Don't be a hacking cumstain. Server is currently Chernarus but we are considering either running a second server or converting over to lingor. -
Stopped playing for 1 month, & yet, the community & the mod are still the same
Chewy102 replied to the_xxi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not as good of a map as you think. My clan has been trying to get a Lingor server running right for about a week now. No matter what we do all vehicles spawn with 10 copies at the same place, and with every server restart any saved vehicle ports all copies to that same spot (unsaved vehicles are random). That's even if the damned things spawn in the right place (100+m out of place or 10m in the air). We had to re-wright all of the spawn code and still they dupe, causing them to destroy themselves EVERY TIME! It's bad enough to keep a chopper in shape, but having to re-build it and every other vehicle with each server restart is just fucked up. In short. Lingor is a very nice map, or infantry. Try to add in vehicles and it becomes a horrid mess with the duping and blockades loading AFTER you hit them at high speeds. It's a PvP map, nothing more. -
a list of good dayz suggestions....
dutch_miller replied to apache25's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Would be realistic but it would feel like you NEVER need food. And you would not be able to sprint forever and do everything that you can in DayZ on a nutritional diet where you eat every 3 days. There's plenty of food in DayZ, and theres no reason to say Exactly 2 and only 2 will spawn. This is a tricky one. Repairing/refueling a car is not a problem in DayZ generally. The trouble is in finding it. maybe less damaged, sure. Maybe with some fuel, why not. However there is an argument that because the server resets vehicles so frequently that why go through the trouble of repairing it if you know it will disappear? In the end I say sure only because of the server reset argument, but if that was not an issue then I would say no. ..? Zombies spawn when you are nearby the town because if every zombie was spawned in at once it would lag like a mother. I'm not even going to address this further. Yes, but it will be too laggy. So no. Again, most open houses will hold this anyway, and again why does there have a to be a definite number? A major part of scavenging in this game is that you DON'T know what will be waiting for you inside. Use this argument with every " X% chance of spawning Y and Z in every W" Love it. Don't love lag. Maybe, although nightmares seem pointless to me. You could make convincing arguments either way for sleep, but that's a post for another time. -
You enter the area to quickly after a server restart, ill explain Every-time a server goes down, all the loot, bodies, vehicles, and tents are wiped (patch 1.7.2.5) -this means the server is 100% clean, and has only loaded the pre-setup elements (vehicles, the floor, buildings, ect) Loot is not included in pre-setup, once a player has visited an area, the loot spawn in for the entire server. For example, now once you have visited the airfield and waited for loot to spawn, loot will always be at the airfield from then-on, (Until the server goes down for w/e reason) Because the server has loaded that section of the map in terms of random loot generation. Loot will spawn after around 5minutes, whether you are in the building or not (Just today on my own server I stood in a store after a restart and it spawned around me)

Why does Rocket want us to have congenital insenssitivity?
Kraorr replied to SillySil's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What you state about player reacting to the game is prevalent to the current player trends of playing merely to shoot, not caring if taken out or not once they have the "play to survive" mind becoming numb when they know that if their character dies they will only need to go back to a private server that is connected to the hive thriving with vehicles/tents to instantly get all the gear they want back and hop back into a new server, rinse repeat. Again given the current state of the game, sticking around too long in cherno/elektro means dealing with people positioning themselves to gun down fresh spawns with high end warfare gear - as if after all some kind of legit longer term effort you would go all the way back to the beginning parts of the map to use the most nasty military items accessible in DayZ to shoot the newcomers/recently dead players? In all logic such a player wouldn't remotely want to travel all the way back there with such gear. The rest can be poorly equipped compared to you in that spot, doesn't mean you're immortal. It would also mean upsetting your chances of staying alive for your new parcour, provided you don't switch servers. The shit is still there though and will upset the rest of the player's situation in there, getting shot by those types of weapons in areas where someone carrying it shouldn't even logically decide to be there. The play to survive right now has been ditched by the window because of this, (including the script/hack users largely participating in this) as those kind of players leave dead bodies with the sweetest loot possible in the starter areas and upsetting how the areas should be tactically and strategically evaluated as you progress through the different hotspots. I mean, for the guy that doesn't have any kind of "help" like those, why even try to go elsewhere than cherno/elektro? All you need - no - you could find anything, even the sweet loot by simply staying there. You'll spend longer time there so you're likely to die there. You might not slip out of it either because the big guns are hidden on the outskirts of those cities, letting nothing get out alive... You know... "what happens in cherno/elektro... stays in cherno/elektro" or "the only way to leave cherno/elektro is in a bodybag". The quotes are exagerative, yet awfully close to how DayZ is played. If not it's "then go to stary or straight to NWAF" or "go on edges of the map until you find tents with top gear - don't save state after picking stuff or the next time you go there again once the server restarts you won't be able to pick what you took again"... Then what? Yeah the guys go back down in cherno/elektro. Probably because of the easy gearing up and... the only unconscious reaction left for the bitter ones out there, give some payback or go psychotrigger on anyone because you had to go through that. All of the reactions have been twisted / became a pejorative. "LOL kill or be killed man, don't be a pussy", "Dude don't play try to survive as long as possible, it's stupid and pointless" etc. However the only idea I like about giving more visual and sound cues is not for the player seeing his own character do it, but for me, as the other player witnessing his current health state. This is both interesting for the ill-intended player or the kind one. If this is really meant to happen, I think we can say that DayZ is meant to have every sign in game to leave ambiguity and rough estimations as a part of the gameplay. You see a survivor/hero/bandit. You have a possible idea of how he might behave, but nothing is certain. You see someone moaning, it might be thirst, the beginning, end or inbetween part of some sickness (different types of illness in the future?). It could be hunger. You're not too sure. You have an idea but you'd have to get closer to get a better idea. Things like that. As of suppressing entirely the UI, I guess we'll see. Personally I don't mind the need to evaluate, as long as there isn't anything with too many colors changing to give you that rough feel of how your character is doing since I have some color blind issues: irl handicapped players are always tough to think about, because it is way harder than some could think it is to actually realize how things are harder for them. It could also be someone inflicted with some partial paralysis: I actually played with someone on another fps and he later told me about having complications due to his "hemiplegic" issues (dunno if it's said that way in english, kinda frenglished it, hehe) after I was getting a bit upset on what seemed to be reaction timing issues ingame after being his spotter/backup for months - I tried finding a way to propose a different keybinding set to optimize as much as possible his physical limitations that were having too much negative impacts for him ingame (he has about... 2 fingers "and a half" that are numb / almost entirely unresponsive for his left hand, the one he used for the keyboard. He actually liked using a joystick instead, as his wrists are not impacted by his handicap!). Ok that one is really stretching the offtopic but I found the deaf argument interesting and wanted to add things to it. But how about the different autisms and degrees of them? For those who have a limited awareness of body language, by how much would they be oblivious to it in order to identify/estimate the health state of their character? Maybe by exagerating the expressions? To go back to the colorblind example, even the UI right now gives me issues about evaluating of how much more time/running distance I can cover before it starts blinking. I see it green/greyish when my character is fresh, then it seems to become red at some point - the slow transition from green to red for me is nearly impossible to see properly until I stop, stare, focus and strain my eyes. At least, the essential moment of emergency is clear, thanks to the blinking part. Should it not blink, I probably would have hunger/thirst issues pop in my face like a bad surprise on a regular basis. Ironic that a UI-less interface, for my case, might end up being a more consistent and accurate way for me to know what's up with my character. Sorry for the wall-text, it's a bad habit. Including the drifting off. My last joker is that it's getting really late. Pillow has my beans. Bye. -

Hacker on AU50 Named slender DONT PLAY ON AU50
moofactory replied to moofactory's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You know what im sick of? people on their soap boxes yelling that everyone must have proof via screenshots or video. What would the point of screenshot "you are dead", or the list of players currently in game from the lobby? It does just about as much as having nothing. This is why I said for Moderators to go look at the logs on the server as proof of any anomaly's occurring. Look I dont know exactly what the logs show.. but if they can show teleporting, kills, scripts, ect.. then they should be able to see who's hacking. It doesn't take a genius to go log onto the server and find out for themselves to confirm a hacker, after a while they will port you/kill you. Like last night on au4 had some asshole killing everyone with pipe-bombs with god mode on in electro. You only have to log in, go there to see the mayhem for yourself. This is the fundamental problem with this community, Everyone thinks everyone else automatically are a bunch of sore losers with nothing better to do than try and get people banned out of revenge. I have no reason to falsely accuse some player of hacking just to get revenge. I never said ban them based purely on what Ive said, I said check the logs for proof. Its one thing to simply get killed by another player and accuse them of hacking when it could be legitimate. Its another entirely to be teleported to the player in the middle of a forest surrounded by spawned or taken vehicles to get killed by someone playing music over mic. (which they often do). This report is to moderators of the forums, If I come across hackers I will report them purely because they are hacking, screenshots/video or not. This is not for your benefit. Don't like it, bugger off. -
this depends from server to server. I play on a 1.7.2.5 and everything saves just fine. Vehicles repair state, loot and position. Tents save too so im having no troubles as long as i save my tent or vehicle after i used it

Tents and vehicles saving properly? -
Hi there. Our main server is shutting down so we need to move/sell our stash. We have the following items for sale and we will hear your offers through this thread, pm or skype/steam: zeichef You have to be on The List to trade with us. We will do buisness with you even if you are a bandit as long as you are on the list so we know we can trust you. Items that have a star '*' on them will require a really awsome offer to get one of these bad boys. Items for sale 1x NVGs SOLD! 1x Rangefinder 1x DMR +mags SOLD! 4x Ghillie suits 2x SOLD, 2x to go! 1x Soldier Clothing* NOT available, sorry! I used it myself :/ 1x Mountain Dew* 6x Satchel Charges* 2x SOLD! 4x To go! 2x RGO Frag Grenades (a hell of a lot more powerful than regular M67 Frag Gs) We are not interested in AS50s or M16A4's w/ACOG. Although they are both extremely rare, we already have them. Though we might need another M16A4. I would really like an M107 Heavy Sniper Rifle and I will pay kindly for one. GOT ONE! Ok so I'm gonna make a weird 'offer' here. Well I will give everything that's left (2x Ghillies, 1x Rangefinder, 2x RGO Frags, 2x Satchel Charges, 1x Mountain Dew) for a functial UAZ jeep on a European server, because we don't have any off-road vehicles at the moment. I realise a car is hard to get and all but I think the Satchels and the Mountain Dew alone are some of the rarest items in the game. Tell us your offers preferrably below so other people know what's on the table although you can contact me via pm or steam/skype, name: zeichef

PRIVATE HIVE Welcome To Wolf Armouries! I'm currently playing on a private hive, it's the reason the store has been less active this weekend. If you want to join the AFDT Hosted server [click here] Some information about the server, quoted from the website: The rules of the server are: Thus far, the server has been brilliant. I've been on it at late night and when it's been more active with around 20 players in-game. The server is UK based, I have had no lag thus far and quite a few interactions with other players. Most seem to be relatively friendly but it'd be boring without those murderers, bandits and scuzzballs. It's safe against dupers and hackers and with extra vehicles? Join it. a list of good dayz suggestions....
CerebralZombie (DayZ) replied to apache25's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I could see hunger taking a bit longer to start blinking, but with all the running you do, it's not bad the way it is at the moment. Also there is a lot of food in DayZ, and with how far along the outbreak is, there wouldn't be as much food as there is. I think this seems fair, as I've always thought the blood amount should regenerate a little bit like it does in real humans. (Not sure how fast it actually accumulates though.) With all the supplies and food in the game, I do agree that the outbreak isn't to far along and should include some vehicles that are drivable with some fuel in them. That will definitely be fixed in the stand alone, and hopefully soon in the mod. I've always wanted to do this in Left 4 Dead, even though that game is about moving forward. You can pretty much do this in games like Day of Defeat, and Counter Strike, so I'd love to see it implemented into DayZ. Maybe even the ability to board up a door too, but there really is no reason to stay indoors. Once DayZ has the ability to have way more zombies on screen at once + in game, than maybe this would be needed. Have huge hordes of actual hard zombies would be great! Instead of things on the floor this could be cool, but it'd take a bunch of un-needed time consuming programming that could go towards other things needed in DayZ. So no real rush, or need for this one. Meh... It's still the same amount of food, and you can really eat any canned food straight out of the can. It should be already cooked, and just needs to be heated up. I could see having some melee combat in DayZ, and maybe having it so if you're around a corner, or even run up to another player, the ability to disarm them and maybe even aim their gun at them too. There could be two methods of disarming, one that knocks the weapons away, and another that give you the weapon. It would make player take more time and be more careful when searching around. It would also change the whole close combat side to DayZ. Meh, once again. I think that players should randomly blink though. That'd be a cool feature to Arma, having to blink randomly. Maybe have the wind in the game and sometimes dust/dirt that causes you to blink more and squint in first person. Also see in soldiers squint when firing or taking fire. Plus when a grenade is thrown, or close by. Much more elaborating needed, but it'd be pretty cool. I guess that's it. At least this get some new ideas or ideas to work on. I still trust Rocket and the team to know what will be best for the game and mod. Giving them ideas though can never hurt. Can't wait to see the stand alone! -
Remove Thermal Abilities From Weapons
[email protected] replied to magicflute's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Define "extremely rare", please. I have a L85A2 AWS, and i lost count on how many others i have seen inside tents, vehicles, and in other people's bodies. This weapon is ridiculous, at least in my opinion, and it should be removed from the game (at least the thermal scope, not the entire gun). MY OPINION. -
Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
shagohad replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I have some ideas about vehicles Right now the map doenst really make sense. It is littered with vehicles that all looked like they got strafed by an AC130 I think thats due just to the models available but it would make much more sense if every vehicle is theroretically repairable. What varies is the condition of the vehicle. Occasionally you would find one that someone had stashed away in a garage and so is in good condition. Most would be almost useless save for scavenging parts required. This would eliminate the current situation of all the vehicles being snatched early and forever hoarded up north, leaving most newbie teams out of luck if they want one. I think fully rescuing and repairing your vehicle would add to the sense of attachment. Maybe with a large and instanced underground base you could have a small garage. my other suggestion is for a train. I think its been discussed, but basically at the moment a train is sitting in cherno. It would in my opinion be fucking awsome if that train moved. If it required only fuel and was restricted to the coastal rail lines there would always be at least one vehicle that new survivors could play with. Buddy spawns in Kamenka? np just grab the train off the bandits using it to pillage by way of an epic train heist and go grab them. It would remove the risk in say taking a bus because any asshole can destroy the bus or take it up north killing your fun. The train would always have to be somewhere along the tracks. I jsut think it would fule really interesting palyer driven moments. -
Interesting. A couple of times I've come across vehicles with a bunch of loot stored in them. I didn't see anyone and didn't get shot at so I jumped in and drove off to some crazy remote place to check everything out. I usually put a few better items in my inventory when I log off, and save the vehicle. If I play the next day (or the day after), they are always gone.
