Hey everybody, my name is Ryan, but I will be going by Mansaw here and in game. It's a goofy name, I know but it has a good story haha. Anyone interested in being friendly can ask me to tell them said story =]. I haven't yet played DayZ but I just finished reinstalling arma 2 on my computer because I found this mod. I've been bragging all day about how I get to play what is basically the walking dead online (im sure you havent heard that one before...) I've also been lurking the forums and would love to make a few new friends. I plan on being a friendly player. I'd much rather enjoy the thrill of looting buildings and finding cool gear with friendlies than just mindlessly killing people. About me, I'm just a 21 year old dude that plays guitar and listens to hardcore. I'm a nice dude so come find me or chat sometime. Thanks for reading my semi lengthy intro =P. THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT (sorry, not with guitar) Remember, kids. When the new patch comes out, and you rush to download it, it will ALSO take the server admins some time to set up. I suggest waiting if you hate not having many servers to play on. At the very least, once you install, have your server list set to filter for 1.7.2.4. You will save yourself a lot of headache.

You should definitely have a friend on-hand, in your background, to wail on the guitar as soon as you start screaming.

There should be some drummer and bass guitar survivors out there. Make a concert in cherno and I will join in listening and keeping zombies off the band.

lol Somehow this reminded me of STALKER where there are all those campfires and guitar cirlcles. Kind of a nice break momentarily from all the chaos.

They could add ganja aswell. There would be less PvP cos everyone would be in the woods around a campfire having a social toke on some fresh bud provided by the natural surroundings in Chenarus. Oh and throw in a guitar for some sing song action.

I honestly wouldn't mind someone playing a guitar in cherno. Would make a nice change to general mood of the game.

Great idea! Far superior, but I would suggest shut down your pc, grab your guitar and go outside, instead of sitting home alone. Long live the jam, I'd definitly have one with you, even in dayz.

I saw a post the other week where someone suggested that more "fluff" be added to DayZ; guitar-playing and such. This got me thinking, as I felt it was going in the right direction. More fluff would do this game very well in my opinion. So my idea is to implement a "war cry" feature, which when activated causes your player to scream loudly. Imagine looting elektro, when a group of hatcheteers sprint into town screaming. You'd travel around the larger cities hearing distance shots and cries of war all around you. Or yelling out before lobbing a grenade onto a surprised enemy. Or shouting out your final breath as your ATV rockets off of a cliff. It would make encounters more interesting, and hair-raising when one or both parties are vocally expressing their desire to fight or die trying.

I hope guitar playing will take a tool belt slot and can be active while sitting (Press #, or ' I think one of them is salute) About the war cry, maybe you could have an item that changes your war cry, like you could have a whistle that when equipped you make the sound of a zombie and make a bandit look behind him, then shell the shit out of his back.

I have a playlist consisting of Red Dead Redemption OST, Bastion OST, Metro 2033 / S.T.A.L.K.E.R. guitar tracks, Pink Floyd, and Radiohead. Winamp volume at 20% so I can still hear ingame. I don't understand how you could listen to dubstep or metal. That would completely ruin the immersion for me.

The song is called "I'm a big fat emo pussy (No woman will ever love me)" I can play my accoustic guitar (I know like 3 whole chords) while we all hold hands around the bandit campfire and cry and confess our deepest bandit feelings. I'll see if my mom can bring snacks.

I don't write often in english, so sorry for fucked up grammar. I also guess there is already a suggestion like this, but I didn't found it. I like to suggest a mental health system with a friend system, which would solve the problem with pointless killing and add a few nice features. It's also realistic, since we, as player, don't get the same psychical feedback like someone in a real apokalypse. What should damage your mental health: - sneaking around zeds - friends die/getting wounded - physical damage - hunger and thirst - long loneliness - kill survivors (not bandits). If you killed a lot of survivor, the impact should be less, since you get used to kill people (?) What should heal your mental health: - zed free zones - moving around and talking (more benefit from using ingame communication) with friends - help from other people / friends (ie: blood fusion, getting carried while bone broken) - helping other people (help with stuff, bandage them, and so on) - alcohol, cigarettes or pills (with secondary effects) - some kind of fun things, like magazines, guitars, chocolate or card games. Things you can find in residential places - good loots (from loot points, not other player (?)) - killing zeds (not sure if a good idea or not) How to determine friends: I can make teams. If you are long time around your teammates, these characters (not the players!) becomes friends. Alcohol, pills and so are an alternative, if you need fast mental help, because you kill people or loose friends. But it comes with side effects, like addiction, less accuracy and so on. Cigarettes should be good to see in dark places or in the night. Magazines, card games and other stuff like this can help player, who want to play alone and not in groups. Some penalty from low mental health could be less accuracy, stunnings, sudden cry attacks, seeing illusions (say hi to your invisible friends), getting faster sick or head related stuff. Maybe even suicide, but I think this would be too far. Pro - killing survivor comes with a price tag, just like everything else - more benefits from mates - zeds get more dangerous, even without physical attacks - more need to get in residential areas - more social interaction - maybe more atmosphere (some survivors sitting around a fire with a guitar, chattering groups, hesitation to shoot someone) - while you consume stuff like magazines you are vulnerable to attacks Contra - need to be balanced - killing survivor comes with a price tag (some people have fun in killing) - clans or groups have advantages over players without (you don't have to find mates) - consuming stuff can be boring -> you don't want to read a magazine for a hour ingame What do you guys think?
