  1. NO. You managed so far without adding hacks like this, stick to it. Some people are psychopaths and you don't know till too late. TS/RM (too short read more): Expanded idea/suggestion: the heart beat effect starts off larger when you have higher humanity (but still significantly negative), and gets lower as your humanity *decreases*. i.e. Gets higher then lower again with decreasing humanity. This models how much of an expert killer you are, and how well you have learnt to hide in plain sight.
  2. To all the people saying "yes, but add melee because I don't want to be defenseless". Without a gun you ***aren't*** defenseless. You have your legs and your cunning. Run away, or don't be seen. But still rocket, if you do cave to the melee pressure then make it one use every 5 seconds or something. If you have no gun and you are cornered in a building by more than one or two zombies then you should basically just die. This all is assuming other features work 100%, e.g. no see through wall, LOS and escape from zombies.
  3. Forget vaults, I will tell you what IS safe and justifiable in a zombie apocalypse: burying stuff. We already have an entrenching tool. If you want to keep something property hidden you wrap it in a plastic bag and bury it, simple as that.
  4. Read thread THEN comment. /edit maybe too rude, although it is mentioned in thread a few times. New patch will give option to hide from zombies.
  5. Yeah its a bit silly you get road flares not a flash light. Who has road flares in their house?!
  6. They still are. You just can't recognize them on sight anymore (not that you could reliably before).
  7. Run away. Even better: don't be seen in the first place.
  8. How about some people spawn with guns and no ammo, and some spawn with ammo and no gun? And some other combinations of stuff which is useful together, e.g. matches, knife and axe. Maybe lead to some interesting situations. Incentive for bandits stays about the same, incentive for trying to team up with other newbies increases.
  9. YES Finding someone to team up with who has a gun has incentive, and the person who has the gun feels more inclined to be "trusting".
  10. Obviously this is a moot point from the DayZ point of view as the reasoning (or lack of) has already been explained. What I don't get is how not being able to select gender more than once equates to prejudice? Who is the prejudice against other that people who want to change their characters gender more than once? In this case life itself is prejudiced by making people be born male or female, sex change operations not withstanding. Possible new game mechanic: if you can find a scalpel and morphine you should be able to perform an in game sex change op.

    Crawling for loot

Even worse is the fast crawling over a slight bump and suddenly your character jumps to their feet at starts sprinting. Died twice from that, now I never crawl anywhere but perfectly flat surfaces.
  12. Same problem on Dallas 25, chopper was between Stary and Pogorevka. No options in context menu and minigun locked forward with a muzzle flash permanently visible.
  13. > - Post descriptions of mechanics to solve the problem, and I will consider them and we can discuss. Okay. You are in a 220km square area with up to 50 other people around you trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. Now if this was in real life it would mostly be the same 50 people with a few leaving, a few coming and most staying. Except with the server and hive model it is just 50 random people from a pool of how ever many tens of thousands there are playing now. There is no way you can keep tabs on who you can trust, who you can't, who you have seen perform bandit actions, or help others etc. In reality the locals would know mostly who the bandits were, and who they could trust. i.e. people would have reputation. For you to use someones reputation to decide your behavior towards them you first have to recognize who they are. In reality you could maybe recognize them by what they wear, the gun they carry, if close enough from their face, from where they are, who they are with. In the game at the moment that is impossible unless you are on a name tag server (which are kind of silly). But now with the addition of clothes this may become easier. The problem remains that you can't keep track of the thousands of people who can randomly drop in and out of your server at a moments notice. To solve this I would like to tentatively suggest a persistent reputation system: if someone spots you in the game they can look right at you and rep you (must like the spot mechanic from Arma 2). They can positively or negatively rep you. If you die your rep is discarded. So a clever bandit won't be seen by others, and will kill any witnesses. But if someone is hiding in the bushes and witnesses your heinous crime they may tell others of your deeds (rep you). Now the obvious problem is how to you bridge between recognizing someone from their appearance and determining their reputation? It might be a bit obvious if their reputation just appears when you look at anybody. Then again maybe that is the only way. Possibly changing clothes might negate a proportion or all of your rep? Its questionable whether reputation should be on the hive or local to the server as well. (Long rambly and shit I don't care, I'm pressing the Post button anyway.)

    Can not place a tent

Same. Always get "needs to be flat and free from objects" even in the middle of a flat field.

    Build 1.5.8 rolling update

Not always. In EvE for instance it is sometimes used affectionately to refer to fellow corp members who prefer PvE over PvP. Like many terms whether it is offensive or not really depends on context. e.g. if it is preceded by the f word it is probably pejorative.

    Build 1.5.8.2 Hotfix

Oh well I'm glad someone else went to the effort of finding another tent and trying it, I was considering but I am so far from civilization it would take me all night. Just waiting for a fix. Hopefully it isn't to respawn! FYI link to a related thread: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1494&page=2

    Tents dissapear again

Firstly: nice try! Secondly, if you aren't joking: there is no place where it can't be found, anywhere you can go someone else can go. But the tents are camo material (at least my one is), and blend in quite well with bushes and trees. Just put it somewhere out of the main routes. Remember the tent will survive your death by two days, so it is really your "save point". So try and put it somewhere out of the way, if you die you have two days to get back to it.
