    Leg Injuries

There seems to be two very bad bugs with leg injuries. One, shooting or hitting targets in the leg does not injure the leg. Two, if the legs are broken, logging out fixes them. Since targets can still move around with handcuffs on, it is necessary to implement plausible leg damage in order to keep them in one place.

    Book Collecting

Much as in real life, in the game I have developed an interest in collecting books. Does anyone else have a similar interest in this game? Down the road, when the work of the Medical Division is finished and the game is fleshed out, I plan to find a home in some lovely part of the countryside where I can settle down, hunt animals, entertain weary travelers, and store a collection of rare and interesting books. I know it's unlikely the books I find now will survive until then, but I've been making a bit of a mental list based on the ones I find, and I am diligent about searching book spawns for new titles. It's really the only other thing I do besides Medical Division work. I've found a volume which includes a selection from the Mahabharata, the extraordinarily long Hindu religious epic, a copy of l'Enfer, which means "hell" in French, and several other interesting titles. I am given to believe copies of the bible exist, and along with the Mahabharata volume, I am lead to wonder whether there are also copies of the Talmud and the Quran. Has anyone spotted other interesting books?

    Grenades in DayZ,what you think?

they would be great for martyrdom operations
  5. It comes down to the "humanity" magic being a fundamentally bad idea for DayZ.
  6. So magic stuff? Maybe they can have you learn magic spells to fly too? All character progression should be lost on death, 100% of it for everyone.

    Next patch: a big one?

Next update will be approximately 70 new books and 3 new color t shirts for when you make your character.
  8. You deserve much worse than that for encountering a vermin and not exterminating it. We all have our parts to play in this.
  9. This speaks to a controversy we've had in the Day Z Hero Society Medical Division. In some cases, an extermination target escapes, either by getting too far away, not coming close enough to the town, or by combat logging. Many times, we manage to injure these ones, and it's not uncommon to see it bleeding as it gets away. Some of us think that we should count these as exterminations, on the theory that the injury will eventually result in the death of the target. Without friends to administer saline, and without any gear or supplies, most of these vermin have no chance of recovering. Do you think simply getting a couple rounds into a vermin that manages to run away or log before his extermination is complete should count as an extermination?
  10. Making a player's life more important than his gear will be good, because then when targets are exterminated, they will lose more.

Why are freshspawns now referred to as "bambis"?

We use the term 'vermin' to be honest. I think it's the most accurate and evocative.

Why are freshspawns now referred to as "bambis"?

Nobody I know calls fresh spawns "Bambis"
  14. To eliminate potential threats and have a better chance of surviving. Or, if they're part of our group, they understand they have a moral duty to exterminate the vermin.

let's talk about being able to SMELL

One very cool idea, involving the coming urination/defecation system is that zombies would be attracted to the dung and urine. If you crapped all over the town, or wherever you make your camp, it would eventually attract a lot of zombies. Also, if you soiled yourself, it would attract zombies to you personally. Also, one of the coolest features of the mod was the flies that buzzed around corpses. There should be annoying flies that buzz around dung too.
  16. The consequences for being injured aren't bad enough currently. Legs can't be broken, arms can't be disabled, you can't be blinded. Making the game ugly is a start, but they can go a lot further in creating disincentives to being injured. Need to make the person playing the game suffer. If the color wash out is making this one suffer, then it is working as intended.

    Morphine Addictive

Withdrawal is the bad end of tolerance/dependence. You only have opiate withdrawals if you have a tolerance/dependence on opiates, because the withdrawals are caused by the absence of opiates in a system that is dependent on them. It's two sides of the same coin, tolerance/dependence and withdrawal. And, wouldn't you know, kids like to tell stories on the internet!
  19. No it wouldn't. The game already has excellent incentives. The best incentive of all really - survival.
  20. No, it doesn't have to go. In fact, it has to stay. If you don't like the way it looks when you've lost blood, then dont lose any blood. Imagine that!
  21. We patrol Kamyshovo, it's not hard to see us. There are 3 spawn points in kamyshovo, plus roads coming in both ways. We need to patrol it to find the most number of targets. If we get shot at we live to fight another day anyway.
  22. Far beyond merely a justification to "kos," you have a duty to do it, a responsibility.
  23. Even when a vermin has no weapons, it is still a threat in the long-term. Even unarmed vermin compete for resources. The only "friendly player" is one that has already been exterminated.
  24. We announce ourselves as friendly to every one we meet. Unless it combat logs, nothing we come across ever escapes extermination. If a target does not respond to our friendly messages, it is exterminated immediately.
