  1. To be honest, we aren't really interested in fighting people at the moment, and it would be bad for us to help people who mean us harm to track us down. But the benighted town of kamyshovo, on whichever server it was where we exterminated so many victims, could certainly have used your help today.

    m4a1 alt-tab issue

It's an arma engine issue. Can prevent it by pressing escape before alt tabbing. Not leaving the server just bringing up the menu. Can stop the gun from firing by clicking the mouse if it starts up. Game seriously, seriously needs a semi/full auto HUD indicator. It's a switch on the side of the gun, you can tell what you've switched it to.
  3. We track the number of exterminations but not our own deaths. I think it's 9 or 10 for the group so far. I just tossed that in as an aside since we didn't lose anyone today.
  4. We don't have clan tags, but all the members of our group are senior staff on a big arma2 life server, and as such we are part of a clan/community, but it doesn't carry over into dayz.On dayz we verbally identify ourselves to people as the DayZ Hero Society -town name- Medical Division.
  5. A couple members of our group were punched today by people before they were exterminated, and yesterday I was hit with a pipe wrench, causing my trousers to become grimy looking and requiring me to make a supply run to replace them with a pristine pair. There was also a tragic accident once before we had uniforms sorted out where one of our junior members had his teamspeak mic muted by mistake, and was unable to identify himself and shot in the face as a potential threat. The worst catastrophe was days ago, when we approached a proned out person in the grass to tell him we were friendly and had supplies for him, he and a second villain opened fire and killed three members.
  6. After extermination the pants were removed and the bodies brutalized so they gushed out blood.
  7. They were a serious design flaw in the mod. Plus, appearance is fully customizable now with arma3 style clothes/gear. What would be neat, but probably implausible, would be for "heros" to receive special clothes items somehow, which they would lose when killed, and which could be used as a disguise by bad people who looted them. I know our group would covet such items.
  8. Thus was the first day of the new spawn point regime, and we made do with the info we had. We plan eventually to scout more areas for potential bases of operation. We like places with wells.
  9. We can also confirm no effect for morphine pen on a normally healthy person, though we haven't tried to stick in 10 of them since we usually don't pick them up. But it can go on the list :)
  10. I tried a defrib on someone once who was conscious and ostensibly healthy and it appeared to have no effect. We will try to use it on an unconscious person some time and maybe a dead person if they can be convinced not to click respawn.

What, exactly, is the point of this game?

Being helpful is its own reward for people who want to be helpful. This isn't an arcade game, it's human nature simulator. Do you know how people get uniforms, badges, medals, and prison jump suits? They get them from governments. DayZ is an anarchy, it's just people being people, with no power to restrict their actions except other people.
  12. This game is special because it does such a good job of simulating interactions between people, where each person has something at stake, and the way that trust works, and to highlight self interest, and test just how altruistic people are in bad circumstances. It would be a crime to make it like an arcade game where good guys are one color and bad guys are another. There are no sides in DayZ, everyone is on the same side, everyone is in the same boat. It's anarchy.

    painting on the floor

That would make an amazing place to conduct human sacrifices... I would like to be the first one to suggest that if 1000 people are handcuffed and killed with an axe on that spot, the zombie plague will be abated.
  14. Yup, just like in real life, God won't come down to make the world be the way you want it to be. Things only happen when people make them happen.
  15. It might surprise you to learn that bad people tend to look just exactly like good people.

The only solution for DayZ: Simulation.

I really like your ideas and hope something along those lines is implemented. We relish the chance to do much more complicated medical experimentation to explore a health system like the one you describe.
  17. If we can get the drop, we fire from concealment. If not, we live to fight another day. We did manage to talk someone with a gun into drinking from a well the other day. He was exterminated on the spot. ETA: I think we've suffered either nine or ten deaths in our group during the course of our work. It is very disruptive, since it requires all of us to go and help the one who was lost to get geared back up. We don't resume operations until every member has really good gear, since we all need to be at our best. We don't ghost around to 'get back at people' who kill one of ours. Revenge isn't important, we don't take anything personally.
  18. We enjoy it a lot and we're good at it. This isn't a "troll thread" just because you don't like what was posted. We made a medical breakthrough vis-a-vis making corpses bleed, and we also identified a big drawback to the new spawn location system. Also, we documented an exciting play style for DayZ. We hope other people also do what we do, and carry out the difficult but important work of experimentation and extermination.
  19. We don't want to win fights, we want to interact with and ultiamtely exterminate as many people as possible and to conduct medical experimentation. We put a high premium on having the best equipment, so if one of our members is killed doing the work, we have to put everything on hold so we can help him get geared back up, and it can take a long time. The DayZ community is people who play DayZ, a game where people can do anything they want. Every style of game play is accepted, because DayZ is a game where people can do anything they want.
  20. We don't like to camp balota or other places which are similar, we're not looking to win fights. We previously camped areas we considered approaches to balota, on the theory that many people would pass through on the way to the airfield. We much preferred how it was before, we got to spot people, approach them, assure them we were friendly, tell them we had supplies, etc. Then do medical experiments on them and finally exterminate them. In Kamyshovo no one wants medical help or supplies. They just want to flip you off and run around in circles because they're upset they spawned in Kamyshovo. In our old locations, people were happy for help, since they were *almost* to balota.
  21. Believe it or not, we preferred it before they changed spawn points. We had more fun poisoning people and gaining their trust when it wasnt just a cavalcade of fresh spawns in Kamyshovo. We vote to bring things back to the way they were before. It was no fun running all the way to Kamyshovo, and it won't be fun running back to where we used to have our base of operations, but as long as the spawn system is working in this way, we owe it to ourselves and the community to make the most efficient use of our time, and so we conducted exterminations in Kamyshovo. For the record, no member of our group was killed today, so that's a 55-0 kill/death ratio.
  22. We can also report a Medical breakthrough. As it turns out, if you attack a corpse by shooting, cutting, or hacking it, you can cause the corpse to bleed from the area attacked.
  23. Every body was stripped of its pants and brutalized as a warning to others. This one donated a box of cereal to our group:

Does anyone know that combat logging -> KOS?

Our group has had to become more careful, we don't want people to combat log before we can administer an extermination dose to them, so we've had to err on the side of caution a lot today and just shoot people without interacting.
